Asa
Asa pouted ever so slightly as she found nothing interesting in her walk toward the story-teller's house. She absently kicked a rock down the street as she covered the ground to her destination.

Again coughing water from his lungs, Justin stumbled to his feet. "Don't worry, he called sarcastically to the man he'd borrowed the fishing rod from, while still gasping for air, "I still have your pole." He returned the empty Pokeball to his waist, pushing aside his drenched overcoat, and withdrew Nike's instead. It would be a tough battle for her, but Caesar was even less suited to fight the Dhelmise. "Alright," Justin said to her, "time for a real battle. We're in this one together."

Asa reaches the story-teller's "house". It's really not much more than a wooden shack. She knocks on the door and, after waiting a bit, someone finally comes slowly shuffling toward the door from the other side. It's opened by a very old, extremely sad-looking man. He looks so broken that, for a moment, it hurts Asa's heart to even look upon him. "Yes?" he asks in a slow, shaky voice. ---- Justin's battle with the wild Dhelmise begins.

Asa
The young woman bowed deeply before ever speaking. "Good morning sir. I've come to pay my respects and to say that it is an honor to meet a true keeper of history."
Asa glanced around the shack for signs of hobbies or interests or even of his wife. "Would you allow me the honor of preparing a lunch for you today?" While ruthless and determined, her aunt and uncle had raised her in a traditional and respectful house.
There was a hint of empathy in her voice as she looked at the man. Asa knew what it was like to live without someone, since her mother had all but abandoned her to their relatives to raise.

The man only nods. He opens the door a bit more and then turns to head into the domicile, leaving Asa to let herself in.
Inside, there isn't much to speak of. The shanty is so small that there is just a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. In the living room, there is a couch that has obviously been doubling as a bed, an empty coffee table, and a bookshelf lined with many books that appear to have not been taken care of very much recently. Spots on the walls where the paint is lighter suggests that there used to be pictures hanging but have since been taken down. The walls are now bare. The kitchen has the bare materials necessary to cook and eat, often just a single instance of each type of dish - one fork, one plate, one cup, etc. The pantry contains enough for Asa to make any of the many things she knows how to cook, but she notices that the refrigerator is full of covered dishes, meals dropped off by other people from town.
The man sits on the couch and just kind of stares blankly at the floor. Asa gets the feeling that this is how he spends his day every day.

After finishing off his battle, he looked around, and saw that Asa was nowhere to be found. Sighing a bit, he took the reward from the Channeller, and thanked them for the good bout, before heading back to the center to quickly heal up. Might as well wait for Justin now that Asa went off, leaving him with only a vague idea where the Storyteller was located. Besides, Toks was in quite a bit of ache, and his Skorupi.....No, Fio would be her name....Fio had taken a fair bit of drain from that bout. Maybe have some time to drill his Pokemon as well for some later bouts he hoped to have today. Heading to the Center to heal, then Spending possibly One Hour to lock in Brutal Training Botshba, and if it takes longer, another hour to lock in Brutal Training to Fio.

As she opend the containers in the refrigerator, checking on their contents and if any had gone bad, she speaks absently. "I was quite excited to hear that this town had a historian of sorts. It's kind of my passion. I raised revived fossil Pokemon... in a previous life."
She couldn't help but feel the ache of those failures and the loneliness of that time. She sighed. "Now I'm here hoping to find more links to the past here, on my own. I've uncovered a few already, despite not being able to identify them." The refrigerator shut with a thud. Her hands were full of a few dishes. One she discarded as spoiled and the other two she unwrapped to heat.
"I couldn't help but notice your books. Do you have any on the prehistoric era of this region?"

Bo gets his Pokémon trained.
----
The old man looks up at Asa, his eyes taking a minute to actually focus on her, and then he just buries his face in his hands and begins to sob.

After taking time and drilling his pokemon after a heal up, he made his way along once more to the pond to try find Justin. Wonder if he actually caught something yet.

Asa
Asa placed the warming food on simmer and walked to the couch. She sat down and, despite the awkardness of feeling compassion, placed her arm over his shoulders and gently embraced him.
She remained silent. There was little she could say, she knew that because there hadn't been anything anyone could have said to her when her mother left. She knew she could give him something that she didn't have during that time, and that was company.

Bo sees the pond come into view in the distance, and he thinks he can see Justin possibly battling with some sort of crazy-looking Pokémon.
----
Asa's decision turns out to be the best one she could have possibly made. Her silent comfort is just what the old man needed, and he proceeds to burst forth with volunteered information that Asa - or anyone else, for that matter - might not have been able to drag out of him.
"We used to just sit and hold each other just like this, Martha and I," he sobs. "Everything's gone. My love is gone, my children are gone, my career is gone, and my Pokémon are gone. I know everyone wants to help, but no one can stay. If only I had a companion again."
He looks at Asa, wiping the tears away. He seems to be recovering already. "I'm sorry, young lady, for bothering you with this. But, could I possibly ask you for a favor? Could you please bring me a Pokémon? A nice, sweet little thing that could stay here and keep me company? Something to feed and take care of and talk to on those lonely nights when I'm sad?"

Asa
Asa smiled, albiet painfully, starting to tear up herself. She knew exactly how he felt. It was the very reason that she started in her career of raising fossil Pokemon. She wiped her eyes and swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat. "Of course I can. Do you have a favorite, or a favorite type?"
She stood as he gave it some thought, going to retrieve a plate of food and offered it to him before sitting back down beside him.

His lower lip trembling, the old man shakes his head. "Just anything you can afford to spare. Th-thank you."He then falls silent, but Asa has seen enough. She knows what she can do for this man. Lonely Old Man Sidequest The old man is depressed. He asks a large favor of you - to leave a Pokémon with him to act as his companion. You do not have to do this. If you leave a Pokémon with him, you can drop by from time to time to visit and, who knows, maybe something good will come from it beyond just cheering the old man up.

Asa
The young woman seemed torn for a moment, but a resolute smile creapt over her face. She knew it was time for this. Retrieving one of the Pokeballs on her belt, she hit the button. The orange fox yawned and unfurrelled it's beautiful tail.
"Mr. Jameson, meet Brandy." Asa gave the fox a scratch behind the ear and she wagged her tail happily. "She's a very good girl. She loves affection... but that's not me. I know she tries hard to do everything I ask, but that's not her."
Asa knelt down next to Brandy. "I know you don't like fighting, you just try hard because you want to make me happy. You could make me and Mr. Jameson both happy if you stayed with him. He likes to cuddle and he has kids over for stories that you can play with."
She looked back to Mr. Jameson. "You will continue your stories? Sharing history with the next generation is very important."

Watchibg on cutiously, he didnot immediately recognize the breed that Justin had seemed to reel uo whilst Fishing. He watched the fight a while, mildly cutious, before deciding to take some time and look around the pond. After finding the item earlier in town, he wondered perhaps if, since the area here was fairly well trafficked, there may be some things of worth he could find dropped by unawares trainers. using Daily event 2/3 to search for items in pond area

The old man's eyes begin to well up with tears again, but this time there is happiness behind them. He takes Asa's hands in his. "Thank you. ... Thank you so much."Time will tell if Brandy can heal this poor old man's heart, but she seems up to the task. Though she will miss her Trainer, it's as though she, too, can understand the importance of this. Check in as often as you like to see how both the Storyteller and Brandy are doing. For the moment, Asa feels as though she's done all she can here. ---- Sure enough, Bo finds a bright Red Apricorn growing behind the stand where they loan out the fishing rods, just ready to be harvested.

Asa
Asa smiled again and gave Brandy another pat. "I won't bombard you with questions just yet, but I'll definitely visit again. There's alot of things I'd like to know about the region."
"Brandy, be a good girl and don't eat too many treats! She has a sweet tooth." It seemed like now was a fine time to leave them to have a bit of bonding time. Asa reached down and untied the sash from Brandy, stuffing it in her pocket. She then handed the Pokeball to Mr. Jameson.
"I know you'll be great for each other." Asa smiled again and gave a wave as she headed toward the door of the shack.

The shack isn't too far from the pond and, as Asa exits, the faint yet unmistakable sounds of a Pokémon battle reach her ears.

Asa
The sounds of a battle drew her out of the melancholy she had felt upon leaving the shack. A tap of the remaining ball on her hip released Maw. It greeted her with a happy snap of the large jaws. "Do you want to go for a swim, lil' guy?" The bipedal gator attempted an awkward jump in excitement. She couldn't help but smile at his response.
"Ok, go ahead. Just not too deep!" She let him run head, only calling the warning after remembering how far down she had been when she originally caught him. Asa could see the two boys as she approached with a wave.
"Fancy meeting you here." One look at Justin's soaked form and she couldn't help but chuckle. "I told you, didn't I? Please tell me you at least caught your water type?"

While it was nothing spectacular, something free was something free. Maybe he cold eventually find a guy that knew how to make Apricorn balls? Coming back over, he saw Asa was returned, and spoke up. "Justin done yet? Last I checked he was splashing about with an anchor pokemon."
