"Seems as though it's just a matter of making for our destination then. I'm just..." Rosebud paused, red eyes searching the ground as if struggling to find a word. "Happy... Happy to be a part of the group again. Happy to explore and see all the wonders that await us." His eyes shone brightly. It wasn't like Rosewood to use emotional words in the first place, but with a certain spryness she bound off ahead down the mountainside.
"Youth before beauty I suppose." Diana giggled tiredly. "Shall we then?"

"Shopkeep?" Evan asks the new Pokémon, putting aside the 'Labyrinth' business for later. "What exactly is this... shop that you keep." He's curious, given that, so far, there hasn't been any sign of economics at all around here.
"Well... I hope that someone knows where our destination is," he mutters, looking at the others, before beginning to wiggle off after Rosebud. Once more, he gets the pang of wishing that he had limbs. This body isn't so bad most of the tim, but there are some things that being a snake can just make rather difficult...

"Oh, little Three! It is not the destination, but the Journey you see! All roads lead to the beautiful mountain home!" Proclaims the Gunshow in a majestic way. Neither him or the Hugh were truly convinced at this proclamation but it seemed fitting. Besides, Hugh's interest in shopping was purely academic. He couldn't help but wonder what varieties of protein based supplements and foods might be available here. Why, perhaps they may find a miracle berry, one to boost muscle mass by 20%! It would be extraordinary!

Rosewood did indeed seem to be in high spirits. It must have been their unprecedented successes and ground-shaking discoveries. Why, it was enough to make anyone rejoice! Ulrich... moved a little faster and spun a little freer, following along on their path.
"Right... The roads we'll travel, at least. Don't fret Three. Gunshow and I have been exploring the valley. It's quite amazing how far such a robust individual can cover. To say nothing of their application in construction... But yes, we do know the way." Although that reminded the researcher of an earlier matter, and Ulrich soon asked, "Say, how did negotiation with the locals go?"

"There was nothing to negotiate," Evan says. "There was departing, amidst such sweet sorrow. I lament that it had to be so soon." He feels in a mood to wax poetic... although, he isn't particularly good at it.

"Yes, yes, there are a number of shops in Living Pillars, but mine specializes in consumables, and lodging! Many pokemon are keen explorers and trade curiosities and items of value for berries, healing powders, and food. Apples are a popular favorite." Diana explained as the trek carried the group from the mountainside and into the boulder field below.
"There are a few other shops in the area as well. A Cofagrigas, one of few ghost types trusted in our community, operates a series of lockboxes that we have come to call the Bank. We also have a business run by Magnemite and Unown devoted to decoding slabs."

"I see..." Evan muses, before something occurs to him. "Wait... decoding slabs?" He'd not seen any sign of literacy here before, so that's certainly interesting. "What are those?"

"Oh my goodness! Such treasures!" The Gunshow exclaims in excitement. This was such a fascinating surprise; it would seem that these creatures were far more better off than would first seem to be inclined! To think, they were somehow pretending to be civilized.
Pretending? Hrmm. Yes. They still battle each other without reason and harm each other without cause, and they still killed everyone on the second shuttle. Just because they had a few fancy shops and nice things did not mean that they were a threat to Gol and everything they stood for. Bah! He was allowing himself to be drawn into their petty little dreams. The mission! Gol comes first. For as long as he lived, he could never allow himself to forget that simple fact.
These things, were ultimately just obstacles. Just another challenge to overcome.

Ulrich was somewhat stymied by his colleagues choice of words. Enough so that the saurian distracted them all with talk of their destination.
...he would definitely need to interrogate the ghost, later.
Decoding slabs were definitely of interest, but Ulrich decided to leave its exploration to the agreeable Dunsparce. "A good many treasures, yes... Does your friend also operate one of these shops?"

"Yes actually, he is a wonderful combat instructor, able to teach a wide variety of moves even beyond his own abilities." She replied to Ulrich proudly, having been ready to answer the first question when the second piled on. "Slabs are a magnetized ore-heavy bits of rock that bear carvings from an age that we've forgotten. Beyond even my friend's capabilities, they contain ancient secrets. The pair could likely teach you more."

"Oh! I did have the sense of a champion in him!" The Hughshow declares, despite never having had that idea in his life ever. "I will need to study with this sensei bird fighter, and perhaps later become even more powerful!"

"Huh... stories from the past..." Evan muses. "Those must be a sight to see. What messages could lie within? I've never heard of such things, so I would very much like to ask them. Thank you for mentioning it."

'Ancient secrets', she claimed? It made the researcher wonder if Architect might know anything about those slabs. But that could be investigated later. It seemed Diana didn't have the knowledge to speak on them at length, so Ulrich replied, "Is that so? Then I hope he makes a swift recovery."
It seemed Rosewood was right to be in high spirits, though. This village was simply brimming with potential for their expedition!

Small talk continued in earnest as you arrived in Living Pillars a little after dark. The mountain gave way to a rolling lowland hills, then valley forests beyond it. The town itself seems to possess a certain dichotomy between the terrestrial and the arboreal, with the flying Pokemon functioning as a watch. The mingling of species here is impressive, though at a glance there can't be more than five or six dozen individuals in the place at once.
The structures are primitive, mostly hollows in trees, or in under hill barrows. Vines have been crossed and tied off between trees to provide ample climbing opportunities where the branches themselves don't simply intertwine. Some of the residences are marked with berry-stained bark, or etched in some form of claw-script that your Pokemon brains register the same way they do your new form of speech. Diana guides you to her place, which appears to be a small glade unto itself, trees that when they were much younger, had been bound close so that they would grow in a tight ring offering privacy and shelter. Over the door is a sign that reads 'Queen's Sundries and Hostelry.'
"It's not much, but it's been in my family for several generations, you're welcome to stay as long as you like. A little help now and then would be appreciated, and I'll keep one of these big ears open and let you know if I hear anything." The Nidoqueen offers a gracious bow, and carries her charge inside.

The village is... really something. Evan marvels at all the... well, everything that the Pokémon had done. Truly, it is remarkable, and it shows sophistication and planning, despite its comparative crudity. It's a place that he feels much more at home in than most places on Gol, though... it's odd, really.
"Thank you for your hospitality," Evan says, nodding, "I... don't know how much help I'd be able to be," he glances once more at his distinct lack of limbs, "but I'll do my best to aid if I can."

The Gunshow gives the polite lady a wave as she walks back inside, then turns to truly examine all that was around him. Never before had the Hughshow seen such marvels! Could it be they actually had some sort of primitive economy here? It was like the Grand Concourse on Gol, but perhaps less metal. No. Far less metal. Far more green. They had seem to have built their homes into the resounding foliage and have created for themselves a mock civilization amongst the strands of trees and fronds.
"Such a place, boggles the mind." The Hughshow mutters, placing his hand on his chin. "Should we suspend our little meeting to have a look around?"

"And risk boggling you further? No, we've had enough delays. I suggest we begin as soon as possible." Ulrich replied. He was also taking in the sights. Too much green by far, a surprising number of people- Pokemon co-mingling... It was easy to see their fascination. Their scientific curiosity could be sated later, though.
Which led to Ulrich's next question, "Ah... Prof... Rosebud? Did you happen to spy anywhere to hold said meeting, by any chance?"

"Hugh has perhaps had a good idea, keeping our discussions distantly private, as we are uncertain whom might overhear or remember such things." Rosebud chided softly. "Wander and mingle with the locals a bit, and we can settle here for the evening after the fact." He added in a distracted tone, watching several apish pokemon brachiating along.

Evan nods at Rosebud's words, only half-listening. The sights are still fascinating, and he wants to go exploring. Thankfully, that seems to be exactly the suggestion. So, with that, Evan heads out, trying to find where that 'slab' place is. Though there was already amble evidence that the inhabitants of this place could write... he has curiosity about what messages from the past might say.

"Aha! The Gunshow is pleased by this plan!" He says, clapping his hands together and smiling an overly broad smile that seemed to stretch for miles upon miles of deep tendoned muscles, all gesticulating with both equal parts joy and testosterone. "I shall see the Queen's store first. I am sure that such a strong fighter must have many great goods!"
Thus having made his proclamation, he went inside of the store before the Hugh could object. They really did need to have that meeting. But perhaps the shuttle would provide more privacy anyways. Besides. When had last gone shopping? It was rare thing that security was given time off to do such things. As such, it was his duty to enjoy shopping now! The good professor demanded it, and Captain willing, he was going to ENJOY IT.
