El has a good time chatting with Sylvester along the way to the shore, trying to help nudge David and Alara into their conversations as well.
It takes El a bit of fiddling to figure out her Pokedex, but she diligently scans the different pokemon along Route 2, along with everyone's own pokemon out. She figures that since she can do it easily at the moment, there wasn't any reason not to.
Taking in a big whiff of the salty sea air as they enter the small village, El breaks out into a big grin as she stretches her arms out to the side. "Feels just like- eek!" She nearly jumps as Sylvester suddenly grips her shoulder tightly and looks at him in confusion, not knowing what the big deal is. After he runs off, she turns her puzzled face to the others and squeaks, "What just happened?"

David spends the majority of the time simply observing as the group moves, though occasionally he'll pull out a small notebook and jot something down in it. He takes in the small seaside village with interest, especially the clumps of seaweed. He pays little mind to the League gentleman, until he's brought out of his musings by Sylvester. Taking a look at the encounter, David quickly parses through the possible scenarios.
"Your best bet may be to have someone capture the Heatmor, to get on the Durant's good side. Other than that, simply engaging them in battle may be your best recourse." He studies the large mon for a moment. "I wouldn't be adverse to diversifying my team with it."

Sylvester's smile goes wide.
"Perfect! So will it be just us or will you two be joining us as well?"
He looks to El and Alara, expectantly.

Still not quite caught up to the present, El stammers, "Um, uh, sure! What are we doing again?"

"Assisting Sylvester in capturing a Durant apparently." David remarks dryly.

Sylvester rapidly claps.
"Yes, exactly! And excellent!"
He takes a quick look at Alara, before deciding to let her choose on her own. She doesn't seem like the type to be forced into something. If she wanted to join, she was more than welcome, however. He turns to the group of pokemon, and takes a look to Jad on his shoulder.
"Now, how should we begin? Capturing the Heatmor like David suggested?"

"There's a Durant? Where?" El looks around until she sees the metal bugs, as well as their fiery predator. "They look kinda weird. Maybe it's just 'cause it's my first time seeing them in person," she remarks as she takes out her Pokedex to scan the wild pokemon.
"I guess that might help? They don't look all that friendly right now. You sure this is a good idea?"

Alara had spent most of the trek here quiet and unassuming, responding with one word answers or silence as often as she could. As Sylvester begins to freak out about contest and Durant's, she stares on in confusion. What exactly was he going on about? As the three others talk battle strategy, her head whips back and forth between them, eventually picking up what was going on. Not having anything to contribute, she quietly speaks up, staring at the ground. "I'll... uh I'll follow... your lead."

"I'm sure with the four of us and the fact we wouldn't be facing them all at once, we'll do fine! If we deal with the one threatening to melt them, I'm sure they would at least be a little more inclined to hearing us out."
Sylvester gives a small look and smirk, noting that Alara will be joining them.
I knew she'd be along for the ride!

As the four of you run closer to see the situation, it becomes apparent that the Durant were quite outnumbered, and the number of Heatmor present was far more than expected. A few Heatmor were in front of entrances to the hills, and the largest entrance, the Durant Tunnel entrance proper, was blocked by a Heatmor carrying a bag over its shoulder. There were a few burned out shells of Durant that it seemed to be collecting, the shells still in very good condition. It seemed to be the leader.
"Mor! Heat-at-mor!? Mor-he-tmor!"
The five Durant looked quite anxious, but seemed hesitant to charge any of the Heatmor, instead making loud screeching sounds in what seemed to be some sort of war cry.

David blanches at the number of Heatmor, especially the strange one at the back. Then his eyes narrow as he realize the thing is actually collecting the metal shells. "I believe I've found the one that I want," he points at the leader. "If for no other reason than to satisfy my curiosity as to why it is collecting Durant shells."
So saying, he releases Armature, but scans the battlefield as well for any indications of ways to turn the tide more in their favor while Armature softens them up. "Swift on the front-runner! And use our electricity to boost your speed!"
Armature crackles as he directs his electrical stores inwards, before letting loose a flurry of stars from his mouth.
Swift damage on Heatmor directly in front of Armature: 24
Agility Orders applies to Armature.
Armature Speed: 16 David Speed: 10
Perception: 15

As they get closer, Sylvester becomes a lot more wary as more... and then MORE Heatmor come into view. This certainly wasn't the two on one battle he was expecting. Sylvester 'almost' turns to the others to discuss their odds and if they should get involved or not when he notices the Heatmor blocking the tunnel, carrying the shells of fallen Durant. He witnesses David command Armature into battle, before commenting himself. "I think I may know why. It's collecting morbid trophies! And that won't stand!" Sylvester steps forward, joining the frontline Durants. Sylvester's Battle Theme
Now, he knew he wasn't really ready to battle. He'd still like to avoid it if at all possible. But there's something different about today. As made very clear with the battle with Rekt. He's got friends that are stronger than him. Sylvester knows his role. And he's extending this role to the Durants. He needs to support them, keep them up and running. And he'll do that by showing confidence in battle. So much like the danger he'll show in contests, he'll fake it. "Jad, up front! Scramble that one over there! And then stay and defend these innocent ants and their home!" Jad does exactly as asked, flapping forward and blasting one very soundly with a confusion-inducing shriek. Sylvester uses Commander's Voice, applying both Agility and Inspired Training to Jad!
(+4 to Jad's Initative, +1 to Evasion, +1 to Movement Speeds, +2 to Save Checks)
Jad launches a Supersonic at Heatmor #2 AC 6, Confuses on Hit, Sylvester spends an Ap to accuracy (5/6 remaining for the scene)
Roll - 20

Alara quietly walks forwards, fiddling with her hands and staring at the ground, but as the combat begins a dangerous glint forms in her eyes as she draws her knife. She kneels down to Rush for a second, speaking quietly. "Alright, once again, a battle where we're at a disadvantage. Try not to get hit, stay behind me, alright? Hit them hard."Rush gives a snort of confirmation and slowly shuffles forwards until he's just in range to hit one of the Heatmor. Alara moves in front of him, trying to make herself the easiest target. Then, Rush lifts his head up in a yawn and as he does so ice begins to crystallize above him, quickly forming into a massive shard. He drops his head, and the massive shard of ice flies forwards, crashing into its target. Alara uses Polar Vortex, giving Rush the effects of being in a hailstorm. 2 AP Bound
Rush's Evasion is now 5. 2 base, 1 Inspired training, 2 snow cloak.
Rush uses Icicle Crash on Heatmor 1, 13 against AC 4, 41 physical ice damage.

El flinches at the sight of the Heatmor leader collecting the shells of the fallen Durant. This isn't what she wanted to see today, not on the first day of her brand-new journey. Her face darkens as she clenches her fists tightly. "We're not letting them get any more, not under my watch. Ruri, protect the Durant and fight together with Jad!"With that, Ruri jumps in front of the two Durant defensively and bristles up, shooting a poisonous barb at the same Heatmor as Jad, then El rushes forward and plants herself right in front of the pokemon, glaring defiantly at it. Ruri Shifts in front of Durant 3 and uses Poison Sting (Poison, Physical) as her Standard Action vs Heatmor 2. Rolled 3 for Accuracy vs AC 2, damage roll is 23.
El uses Inspired Training (+1 Evasion, +2 to saves) as a Swift Action on Ruri via Commander's Voice, then spends 0 AP to use Cheerleader, giving Ruri the Excited condition (+5 damage reduction against an attack). She Shifts up to Heatmor 2 then uses a Terrorize (Manipulate) Maneuver against it. Rolled 19 for Accuracy vs AC 2, Intimidate check is 9 (including a bonus from 1 AP), it requires an equal or higher Intimidate or Focus check to defend itself. If it loses the opposed check, the Heatmor loses all temporary HP and can only use At-Will moves for one full round.

Before the Heatmor even get a chance to act, Jad and Sylvester find opportunities to act once again. Sylvester steps forward and continues to apply words of direction to his Zubat. Jad, meanwhile, flits up to the target he confused, and starts taking nips out of it. Sylvester uses Commander's Voice, applying both Agility and Inspired Training to Jad!
(+4 to Jad's Initative, +1 to Evasion, +1 to Movement Speeds, +2 to Save Checks)
Jad uses Bite vs Heatmor 2 AC 2 Dark Phyiscal (Flinch on 15+) Roll: 8 Damage: 21

The Heatmor attacked by your group recoiled from the assaults, causing the Heatmor with the bag to turn around. It seemed to hear the commotion, and appeared to be stunned. "Heat! Heat-morheat! Mor!!!" It also seemed ready to fight to defend itself, and the rest of the Heatmor looked ready to go as well, now aware of the enemies they were about to fight.
BATTLE: VS. MOREFIRE
In short order, two of the Durant rushed the first Heatmor down, one of them kicking up sand into the Heatmor's face while the other one clamped the fiery Pokemon within its hard mandibles. The other three Durant took the charge to the other front standing Heatmor, the one assaulted by most of your team, apparently inspired by the sudden help they had received. As with the other Heatmor, sand was kicked into its face before two of the Durant clamped it and brought it to the floor, writhing in pain before it went limp and unconscious.
Durant 1 runs 5 squares and uses Sand Attack on Heatmor 1; Heatmor 1 is blinded.
Durant 2 runs 5 squares and uses Vicegrip on Heatmor 1; 32 damage dealt.
Durant 3 runs 5 squares and uses Vicegrip on Heatmor 2; 32 damage dealt.
Durant 4 runs 5 squares and uses Sand Attack on Heatmor 2; Heatmor 2 is blinded.
Durant 5 runs 5 squares and uses Vicegrip on Heatmor 2; 32 damage dealt; Heatmor 2 faints.

Alara watched the Durant move forward with a small, satisfied nod. She knew the predator/prey dynamic was a natural thing, and she had seen plenty of pokemon killing other pokemon for food in her days in the wild, but she had still always sided more with the prey than the predator. She rushes forwards towards the Heatmor that the Durant had mobbed, holding her knife in a reverse grip. She slashes the blade forwards, distracting it, then pulls the blade back with a stab that it didn't expect. She didn't even watch as it (presumably) went down, scanning the area with blood dripping off her blade, looking for her next target. Rush, in the meantime, let out a little oink and tried to catch up to Alara as best he could, stubby little legs working overtime to try and catch up. He moved... slightly farther than normal. Just a little bit. Alara moves 3 squares forwards. Alara uses Feint attack on Heatmor 1, dealing 30 physical dark type damage, no chance to evade.
Rush uses the Sprint maneuver! He gains a whopping 1 extra square of movement! Rush shifts forwards 4 squares and oinks in a very threatening manner. It's scary, trust me.

Wasting no time, Ruri quickly follows the Durant's forward assault, placing herself between them and the alerted Heatmor, and continues the group's push with another poisonous spike aimed at a nearby Heatmor. El on the other hand is briefly surprised as the Durant rush down the Heatmor she was facing before steeling herself with renewed confidence. Seeing the Heatmor standing at the end of the pier next to the pond, El charges at it with a powerful yell, tackling full-force into it to try to hold it in place and prevent it from getting closer to the others. Ruri uses her Shift Action to move to the left of Durant 3 and then uses her Standard Action to attack Heatmor 3 with Poison Sting (Poison, Physical), rolling an Accuracy of 9 to hit vs AC 2 and 17 damage.
El uses her Shift Action to move up to Heatmor 5 and then uses her Standard Action to use a Grapple Maneuver on Heatmor 5, automatically hitting with a nat 20 (Accuracy roll of 21 with +1 AP) and an Athletics check of 18 to be opposed by either a Combat or Athletics check from Heatmor 5 (Grapple has a lot of rules and details so not rehashing them here). Finally she uses her Swift Action to use Moment of Action (1 temporary AP for one full round) on Alara and David, chaining Cheerleader to that to give both of them the Excited condition (+5 damage reduction against an attack) at the cost of 1 AP.

David and Armature both close the gap between themselves and the rest of the group, David eying the huge blossoms in the grass speculatively. "Can someone see if those things in the grass are pokemon? They might be more allies." Digging into his toolbelt, he pulls out another pester ball, and lobs it underhand at the Heatmor to his right. Armature unfortunately is unable to close to any of the mon for his more physical strikes, and even his other ranged option would fall far short. So he bides his time, waiting for something to come into range. Armature moves up 5 meters. Armatures holds action. If an opponent comes within range, he will use Thundershock on them.
David uses a confusion Pester Ball. AC 6: 13 Heatmor 4 is confused

Morefire began speaking something in PokeSpeak, and seemed to renew Heatmor 6's confidence. The Heatmor then began their attacks in the wake of the initial assault on them, prioritizing the Durant with their flames where possible. One of the Heatmor managed to hurt itself while attacking however, leaving it open to the shock of lighting that struck it thereafter. In this wave of attacks, two Durant were scorched, their shells glowing with immense heat as one of them stopped moving, almost certainly in very dire shape.
Morefire spends 1 AP to double the range of Heatmor 6's Incinerate attack for one turn.
Heatmor 3 runs 2 squares and uses Incinerate on Ruri and Durant 3; 35 special Fire damage dealt. Durant 3 would faint, but Ruri takes some of the heat off of Durant 3, preventing Durant 3 from fainting.
Heatmor 4 runs 5 squares and uses Incinerate on Durant 2 and Alara; 35 special Fire damage dealt. Durant 2 faints. Heatmor 4 takes 8 damage from hurting itself in confusion.
NOTE: Alara must drop her weapon or take an additional Tick of damage as it glows uncomfortably hot, not unlike the two Durant that were scorched.
Armature interrupts and uses Thunder Shock on Heatmor 4 for 28 special Electric damage.
Heatmor 5 tries to win dominance in the grapple...and fails. It very visibly panics following it's futile attempt to reverse it's situation, going wide-eyed and sweating at what Elodie might do next.
Heatmor 6 uses Incinerate on a Vulnerable Elodie; 35 special Fire damage dealt.
The Weird Flowers remain asleep.
