Sam and Wally have arrived in a Spike Weed town, a small farming community at the edge of a creek. There is apparently a professor of some sort who lives here. Aside from that, it doesn't seem like much is going, but who knows?
[OOC: You should move around and talk to people. When not in battle, we won't worry about your speed rating. Just say where you want to go, and what to do, and I'll do move your tokens and initiate conversations, events, etc.]
"Sure," Sam replies with a slight shrug. "Or the guy by the water, or the one in the field. Or we could just wander until we spot a large building, or one with a sign that says it's the Professor's Lab, or whatever."
He shifts his stance slightly checking that his bow's string is still placed in a way that'll let him string is quickly, should there be a need. "I'm personally wondering if we can have our Pokémon out here with us, or if there's a law against that in towns."
Ponce: Not sure about any rules; it's iffy right now. A gang of bandits, led by a hoodlum called Jake, roams around here. You might want to take out your Pokemon to be ready to defend yourself, in case they decide to pay us a visit. Then again, you might alarm the people into thinking you're part of that gang!
As for that professor, well; he calls himself that. Not rightly sure what he's professor of, but he lives on that cattle farm just south of here, if you want to go talk to him and figure it out.
Sam nods his head once, tapping the button on the end of the 'Ball to enlarge it and tossing it about a foot away from him, towards the river. "Come on, Leila. Get a drink, if you need one. Then just stick by me, okay girl?"
While the Eevee is deciding if she wants a drink, the boy holds his hand out, "Thanks for the help, Ponce. I'm Sam, and now you've met Leila too. If you need help while we're still in town, just leave word at the Pokémon Center...if there is one here." He looks to Wally and waits a beat to see if he'll introduce himself. If he doesn't, then the boy adds, "And he's Wally."
With a soft, low whistle to get Leila's attention, then a comforting "hold up" hand gesture, Sam turns to look back at Wally. "Are you coming!? This is very 'farm-like' to me!" he offers a grin and an overly exaggerated wave of the arm that's not holding his bow, then he turns and continues down the path, tapping his palm to his thigh and offering a rather excited, "Let's go, girl!"
Daniel Oat: Howdy dudes! My name is Daniel Oat, and people call me the Pokemon Professor! Actually, by "people", I mostly mean "I", and by "Pokemon Professor", I mostly mean "Chemistry Professor Who Works With Pokemon", but I'm the closest this little podunk has to an authority! What can I do for you? I'll tell you what I can't do, and that's give you a Pokemon to start your journey, but luckily at least one of you has one already!
Sam looks to Wally after the "Professor" introduces himself.
"And here we are, Wally," he offers, nodding respectfully to the man before them. "And that's right. A Cousin of mine who's only interested in single-stage Pokémon won her in a game of Voltorb Flip and was nice enough to give her to me for my Birthday. As for why we're looking for you... I'll let Wally answer that one."
Daniel Oat: Fossils are found in the cliffs by Rattoon, a bit northwest of this town. As for minerals, there's a mine not too far south of this town, but it might be stripped clean. You can go find out if Zubats don't drive you Zubatty!
"Is there anywhere in town where we can get PokéBalls?" Sam asks once the directions are given.

Hi there! I'm Seya, a 24 y.o. editor in Atlantic Canada. I enjoy writing, reading, webcomics, art, worldbuilding, and video games (I can talk for ages about SotC and Monster Hunter...). Although I'm relatively new to playing Pokémon Tabletop via forum, I've been putting together sites like this for a long time, and I'm really excited to work with you all to create an awesome environment for Pokémon roleplay. While my job here is primarily to keep the site running smoothly, I'm always happy to chat, offer advice, and deal with any problems you run across. Let me know if I can be of any help. Inbox is always open! Cheers! xx :)
Hello! I'm Sly, the East Coast mod representative! I'm a 22 year old tax accountant who is exactly as exciting as that sounds, I'm sure. PTU is my major hobby, I run several games (of which the Geode games are my pet project), and I read a disgusting amount of fanfiction. I've been a member of the community for about a year, consider myself more GM material than player material, and am dedicated to helping make your time here enjoyable! If there's ever anything you need, don't be afraid to send me an owl! (Or a PM, I guess, if that works better for you.)
Hey there! I’m DataNinja, the West Coast representative. I'm the most active Staff member on here, so if you need something, try giving me a poke first, and I'll see if I can help sort out your problem. Always happy to help!
(1 May 2015): "For our first pack, we’re focusing on utility character options. Hopefully, this will give you both interesting insights into our dev process as we make changes over time and another focused avenue to give us feedback on what you’d like to see out of PTU."
People are out there, yes, but if you're looking for a game, sorry to say that things seem to be winding down overall. There's basically been... 3 games in the last 2 years, none of which got off the ground.

It's very slow, yes. You'll probably finish working on your game before one pops up here, and if you create a recruitment for it you can expect to be swarmed with applicants.

New games seem to open up slowly here, but if new people are still welcome, I don't mind waiting around (or working on my own). It looks like there's some useful stuff to browse in the meantime.

Keep an eye on the recruitment area of this website. They're rare nowadays, but any new games that crop up will show up there. If it's a live game you want though, you're outta luck.

but how else do i find games then?

Sounds to me like they weren't a group you'd want to be part of anyway.

i wanted to join a living server on roll20 to learn the system but they ignored my application for 2 weeks then blocked me

Basically, GMs post recruitments in the appropriate section, and then players apply to the open games. Unfortunately, there has been a rather... small amount of games posted lately, but there's one currently recruiting right now.
