"Hum?" It took about five seconds for Keno to register that someone was speaking to him, and what they were saying.
The country boy, Jason, seemed to have energy to spare and his positivity was radiating. "Oh," Keno removed a second bag from the hook, and tossed it to Jason, noting it weighed the same as the one he was already holding, "I think I'm good with whatever the professor packed."
He was woried that the others felt he needed what was in the pack to get by, and that he might be apt to fail the trial. He wasn't trying to be rude, he added, "I mean, that's probably part of the trial right? I'm Keno, Jason right?"
Keno then proceded the elevator to rummage through his pack. As the Professor led the group into the elevator, he asked. "So get in get the treasure and get out the same way, back to this elevator? And what is the prize we seek, or will we know it when we see it?"
Based on what he had heard this far, he sumised the cave would be dark and full of rocky terrain. Pokemon would be within, but most should be hibernating; any that were not should be avoided or at least disturbed as little as possible. The pester balls strenthened the beliefe that pokemon lay ahead, but we would be best to leave a trail of peace in our wake. As he pondered all this he realized, 'dark cave, i never bought that lighter i was eyeing... crud.'

"Do we have any directions to the 'prizes', Professor, or is our task to navigate the cave until we come across them? Are they clearly marked?" Isabella asks as the Professor opens the door and states his intention not to follow them once inside.
She lets out a soft laugh as another applicant--Keno, did he say?--asks nearly the same questions just a breath sooner than she did.

Taking the remaining bag and carefully slinging it over his shoulder Jakar squishes himself to the back of the elevator. Surely I will be the creepiest thing in these caves he thought fondly to himself. Now I wonder how the children will react? "Shame you wont be joining us sir, but after all it a trial, no room for hand holding here."

Once everyone entered the elevator, he said, "Trust me. You'll know when you see it. As for where it is, you'll have to look for it. Good luck! Oh, and try not to wake the totem!" Something buzzed in his lab coat pocket. He pulled out a smart phone and answered with, "Wasahgee Caverns National Monument! Professor Sequoia speaking! What?! Slow down and tell me what happened! Everyone?! I'm on my way!" He pressed the screen and said, "Sorry, but I have something urgent to attend to! I'll be back by the time you're done!"

Keno glanced at Izzy, shadowing his sentiments, 'huh, sharp.'
Listening to Jakar's "no hand holding," comment he was glad to here it, perhaps the others won't bog him down after all.
Then the professor took off after an urgent phone call, leaving the to face the trial, 'guess I'm on my own, time to get to it! -Wait, did he say totem?'
Keno assumed the cave grounds would be craggy, or even littered with pokemon. Each step was slow and deliberate, feeling out with his feet as he went. Holding a sleep pester ball removed from his new pack, he moved out to the edge of the elevators light and takes a look around at what he can see in the dim cavern light.

Once the Professor is gone, Isabella shifts her pack off of one shoulder do that she can rest it on one thigh as she goes through the supplies. She immediately pulls out her rope and looks around the elevator's door for a good place to tie it off.
"Anyone good with knots?" she asks softly, holding up the end of her rope in partial explanation of her plan. "I'd prefer if we at least had a way to return to square one if we hit a dead end during our exploration."
She has not, it seemed, noticed that Keno might have ignored the Professor's directions and headed out on his own after all.

"That'd be me," Jason said to Keno after catching his new backpack. The straps were much sturdier than his current one and he hoped that he could keep this new one after the trial. "Pleasure to be working with you."
As the elevator descended down, Jason pulls out a flashlight to ready himself. Professor Sequoia's sudden exit put an uneasy feeling in his gut, and Jason prayed everything was all right up above. The rocky tunnels that spread before the group made him like he was on a different world rather than just underground.
"I can tie a couple of knots, Miss Isabella," Jason answered the lone girl in their group. He like her plan. A quick way out sounded nice in an emergency. "Mind if I?" He reaches for the rope she pulled out from her bag.

watching what the others did John also reached into his bag and pulled out three of the pesterballs, which he slipped into his coat pocket, the flashlight and the rope.after testing the light to make sure it worked John was ready to begin the trial.

Using his lighter to illuminate the cave he grins as the shadows dance off the cave walls. Sticking his hands into his pocket, Jakar begins to walk forward whistling a jaunty tune. This trial would be child's play and he no intention to lose to children.

John looks at Jakar strangely, before stating what should be obvious. " You know you have a Flashlight in your bag too, right?" John then turned his light back on.

Keno believed himself to be the only one without a light source, and it wouldn't be until later that he would discover his mistake. In the mean time, he thought everyone clicking on lights might disturb something they were unaware of at the moment. He continued his survay.

The elevator door closed before it began to sink down. It slowly stopped and opened once again. You are greeted to the cool and musty air of the cave. The smell of the wet clay assaulted your noses. As you exit the elevator and turn on your light sources, you look about the limestone walls to find you are in a room with three passages. One going south and the other two going North and Northwest.
Keno, you notice a muffled crumbling sound that's coming from the East wall.

"Flashlights might scare away the critters my dear boy. We are looking for some aren't we? With that he begins to walk towards the south passage.

"The professor didn't say nothing about finding the critters," Jason replied to Jakar joining him in the hallway. As the elevator descended up he hoped they could find their way out without the rope trick. "Witch path should we take? I kind of like this middle one, seems stable."

"Actually the professor did say we may run into pokemon, and crypticly mentioned a totum. There's something that way," Keno Points east, twards the crumbling sound he heard. "Not sure if we should investigate or avoid it."

"Before we investigate, let's see what we can spot down these other tunnel's first. I'll Take the tunnel if someone can take the other 2."
With that John Pointed his flashlight down the southern tunnel and peered after the light.

"If we're investigating, i guess I'll check the rumbling over yonder, rather not be suprised."
'John siad ther was a flashlight in the bag, mine too?'
Keno checked the pocket of his bag and found both a lighter and a flashlight, that will be helpful. Clicking on the flashligh he headed twards the sound, pester ball still in hand. "Let's not wander out of ear shot everyone. Backtrack if there's trouble"

Izzy nods and hands Jason the rope with a grateful smile. When he's tied the knot, she looks around and frowns as the group starts to disperse. "Didn't the Professor say he's prefer we work together to find the 'prizes' he left for us...?" she whispers to herself as the others appear to have left.
She sighs, shaking her head slightly and eyeing her length of rope. "Well... I'd have preferred making a chain of all the rope we hand, but I guess this'll have to do."
She starts to make her way in the same general direction as the boy who mentioned staying in earshot. At least he seemed interested in keeping the group together. She also reaches into her bag to get her flashlight, but she leaves the Pester Balls inside, not knowing much about the things and not planning to confront any of the local Pokémon if she can help it.
She looks about the room and frowns slightly, catching her lower lip between her teeth as she thinks. "Should we maybe just keep one of the walls to one side so we don't miss anything?" she offers to Keno, just loud enough to be overheard by him and anyone else who is still nearby, but hopefully not any of the locals.

Keno, you investigate the noise coming from the East wall. As you approach, bits and pieces of the limestone crumbles to the floor. It isn't long before a pointed yellow drill pokes out. It wiggles around as a pokemon pulled itself through the opening before plopping on the rocky floor. The creature resembled a fat snake with yellow scales, a blue belly, white and blue stripes on its back, and two tiny wings with white feathers. The length of the creature looked to be 4'11'' (~1.5 meters). It doesn't seem to notice the party as it tried feebly to wrap it's diminutive plumage around itself while shivering.

Keno stood motionless, contimplating his options. It seemed fairly obvious that that was not his intended goal, but simply a roaming pokemon seeking warmth. He was unsure if he could help it, or if the yellow fella would even let him if he tried. The dark limestone caves didn't offer much in the way of kindling to start a fire, not to even go into ventilation for smoke. 'Do I leave it here and just move on, what aid can I offer?'
The most logical from of mind for the trial would be, 'do no harm,' hand the easist way to do that would be to simply walk away and let it be. Yet, the pokemon was alone, and cold, and it might be possible to do no harm and help. Rifeling around in his pack, he now had two med kits, the contents of which might be able to do some good. 'Here's hoping.'
Shifting his focus between where he was stepping and the creature before him, he advanced cautiously. In order to have the med kit at the ready, he had to slip the pester ball in his pocket, leaving it unzipped for easy access should things go awry. "Hi there, I'm a friend of professor Sequoia, i don't mean to bother you, jut thought... maybe I could help. You what me to go, i'm gone."
Keno uses Mystic Senses to improve Dunsparce's disposition

Next he checks to see if the Med Kit could be of aid
