Having only just met Riley yesterday, Salena was a bit taken aback by the hug. But! She took in stride. She always liked hugs anyways.
But this Gym... "They locked you in the basement?" She says, baffled by this assertion. "That's really, really weird. But also really cool too! It sounds like something out of a video game!"
Then, with a quick flick, she pulls out her Pokédex. "Just give me one quick second aaaand... There! Voila!
A few moments later Riley's Pokédex inevitably beeps. Salena bounces up and down on the balls of her feet happily. "I went ahead and transferred the money to your account for the ranch! It sounds really cool, so why not, right?

"Oh hello!" Jane calls out as she emerges from behind a stack of merchandise. Unlike Lavender she looked exactly the same as yesterday, if a bit less hungry. Hmh. I wonder why she missed her shower yesterday, she looks much nicer today. If well a bit less thematic ...
"That sounds rough!" she comments on Riley's gym adventures and makes a mental note to try and figure something out. Being trapped didn't sound any fun! But that was later. "So you own a ranch? Have you visited and checked it out yet?" she shuffled around Riley so she could also see the pokédex picture. Biting her lip she considers Riley's offer for a while. "It does look neat! And I do like saving money ... Sharing sounds like a good suggestion."

"Kyaaaah! When did you get here!?" Salena cries, finger pointing accusingly at Jane.

Riley laughs merrily. Then, after giving cheery salutations to Jane, she adds "Um, well I've only visited the ranch once, and this is the picture I took when I went. It's basically just a grassy lot, which is perfect if we want to make any personal touches."

"Oh. That was our lot?" Salena says, still more than startled by the appearance of the sudden magician. She scrutinized the picture further, a frown appearing on her face. "There's not even a building there yet. Hrmm..."
Still. There would be plenty of time to improve it or something. While processing Jane's inevitable reply, Salena idly scans the scene of the Department Store for deals and daily savings. I mean, it was the biggest store in Kanto. Certainly that meant there we some hot deals or something, right?

"Oh I was just looking at something over there..." Jane mumbles. In her defence, she was usually quite quiet when walking around. It was very tempting to throw down a flashy pesterball and claim magic but she had a feeling the department store staff would frown on that. And I don't want to be throw out until I finished shopping! she concluded.
"Oh but that's not here or there - let's talk about the Ranch!" Jane picked up the pace, visibly excited. Having (t)he(i)r own ranch meant opened up so many possibilities. Think of all the room for activities! Maybe she could have a small stage to do tricks on? Or even better - a workshop to invent even more awe-inspiring magic! "We could have our own building then just like we wanted!" she erupted cheerfully, then added in a slightly more muted tone. "We'll probably need lots of money though ... I've had some luck in my battles lately - so that's a start!"

"Right! I didn't get a whole lot of battling done yesterday, but I might get a bit more lucky today. Pretty soon, I'm sure we'll be having money just rolling into the ranch!"
Her eyes peer about quietly and thoughtfully. This certainly wasn't her normal catching environment but... "Since this is the city, I think I might better with finding a six partner here than anywhere else." She says. "Then, whether I find a partner or not, I think I'm going to hit up some of the local trainers and beat em up after a quick shopping spree!"
And after thaaat... She'd have to hope her team was ready for the Gym.

"Have that Dugtrio from yesterday if you want a pokémon for the gym." Jane offers. She had mostly caught it *because* rather then any need - though she supposed it could be useful to have around the ranch. Maybe I should try and get it some friends in any case! A psychic type would be useful to have around - both for this gym and for future ... shenanigans.
"Mmm. By the sound of it, I think I should spend the day practising and so. I barely scraped by on the last gym - and besides I'm not really in a hurry to spend the night in a basement..." Brr. She wasn't looking forward to that. Maybe if I could get a hold of an Escape Rope? But stores didn't seem to carry them anymore, not even a big and well stocked one like the Celadon Department Store. "What are you buying? I'm thinking of picking up a few TMs and maybe some Pecha berries if they have them in stock."

"Dugtrio? That's a Ground Type, right? Not my usual type, but if you're willing to loan it, I am sure I can find it home on my team! Salena replied happily.
Salena strides over to the elevator and presses the button leading to the produce section. "I was looking to go to get a TM myself, but I wasn't expecting to invest in a ranch. Today. But Pecha berries sound good so!~"
She pauses for moment, thinking. "Wait. Why Pecha Berries?"

"Sure! Just take good care of it." Jane replies and fiddles a bit with her pokédex. "Pecha berries are so deliciously sweet! She grins "Also they are supposed to help with poison."

"No worries! I'll be a good foster trainer until he's ready to head back!"
Luckily, this wasn't the first time Salena had taken care of a Pokémon that wasn't hers. Or rather, mom usually took care of the Pokémon, and Salena played with it. That was the most important part anyways, right?
At any rate, upon arriving to the produce section, Salena weighed up a handful of Pecha Berries and stuffed them into her bag. Could be handy!
"You know, speaking of sweet things, I'm thinking of buying a box cookies or something too. Not like the cheap kind, but like a nice brand, like Lavaridge. Their Lava Cookies are the best!"

Riley says, "Hmm. Well, I'm not yet sure what additions we should make to the ranch. But if anyone has requests, we can just vote on them as they come up! Personally, I think it'd be great to hire a resident move tutor and pokemon breeder." Riley gets distracted: "Oh, right! I'm looking for a move tutor and a Rare Leek...I'm honestly not sure where to look for these things." She goes over to search a nearby directory.

Currently there are no Move Tutors hanging out in the Department Store. That's not really a 'product' that they offer. Similarly with Rare Leeks. There's a reason they're called 'Rare'.

"Sweet." Jane smiles as Lavender promises to take good care of her Dugtrio. Truth to be told, she wouldn't really mind if she wanted to hold on to it for a while. It wasn't as if she had even tried to bond with it yet. And if they do like eachother, it would feel weird to have it back ... Ah well, that was a problem for future Jane. Current Jane just needed to decide what to buy and so on! "I can transfer Dugtrio to you after we are done shopping - that way you'll have some time to see if you like eachother!"
"Mm but for now let's see if they have any cookies!" But they didn't. At least no good ones, just weird Kanto brands. Meh. A pity that nice dude had to leave, I bet he would have made other really nice snacks!
Still Jane managed to find some things. She stuffed ten Pecha and five Lum berries into her basket. Better stock up while they were in a town that offered them! At the TM isle she added number 62 - Acrobatics and 73 - Thunder Wave. It felt good to have money! Though, doing the math in her head, she realized that that wouldn't be true much longer. "Hmm. I have 1000p left after this. I could put it towards a Move Tutor. I mean, I might need one before the gym - my Serperior only really knows Grass moves ..."

"Hmm." Jane pondered the leek problem for the rest of the shopping trip. She didn't really know much about plants to be honest. She knew that some, like Pecha berries, were delicious and helpful. Presumably a Rare Leek would fall into that category. But as to how to find one ... Well, she might not know where they grew or so but she could always take a guess! "They're useful for Farfetch'd right? Since they make it stronger I mean. And if a pokémon has an advantage, it only makes sense that it would be able to level up quicker right? Besides if a really strong Farfetch'd saw a really weak one with a Rare Leek - wouldn't the strong one just take it? So I'm thinking that if you look for really strong wild Farfetch'd there's a good chance they will have the Rare Leek - assuming there even is one in the area!" Jane concludes, evidently proud of her theory. "So *uh* that might work."
---
After the shopping spree Jane heads back to the pokécenter, hopefully with Lavender in tow, so she can transfer the Dugtrio. She'd also need to train her pokémon so they were ready for the day (of more training! Yay!). After that she was off to Route 16 to see if Sam couldn't lure any cool wild pokémon with her Sweet Scent.

"You might have good luck with a Move Tutor asking someone in the training or raising business." Salena says, perking up at the prospect of conversing on a subject she knew vaguely about. "Pokémon Breeders and professional trainers usually keep one or two guys on call who can teach their Pokémon the neat tricks that will give their Pokémon an edge in battle. If you can find and beat one of those guys, maybe you can get a recommendation instead of compensation? Ooh! Or a recommendation, and compensation!"
---
After unwittingly buying a box of store-bought Lava Cookies, Salena joined Jane to handle the transfer of Mr... Dugtrio? That'd be his name for now. If Jane had a name for him, then it would be better if she decided to call him something. But, being called a Mr. was still polite! She does some training beside Jane, before heading off on her own into the city. Perhaps here, she might have some luck finding some more Urban Pokémon!

Riley looks around. Oops! She'd daydreamed again, and now her friends had already finished shopping. She private messages Jane on her 'dex:
Honestly, that Rare Leek idea sounds really good idea, Jane. I guess I should start looking around for more farfetch'd.
Then, in the group chat:
Riley: I think we can actually hire someone online to visit our ranch and tutor our pokemon. Lemme look it up real quick...
Riley: Okay, yep! It costs 2000 poke. So, split three ways, that's about 667. Having our own guy would be rly convenient. We can message the service if we have questions~
Riley smiles, putting her pokedex back in her backpack. So many things to do to prepare for the second Celadon gym attempt!! Riley resolves to take Jane's lead and purchase a few pecha berries, then she heads back out on the town. Before she seeks out any battles, Riley looks in her pokedex for "Best places to find farfetch'd kanto"

Riley's search reveals that Farfetch'd prefer Grassland, Forest, and Marsh habitats; the latter of which can only be found in the Safari Zone or out in the wilderness near Fuschia City.

With a satisfactory hmph, Riley puts her pokedex away and saunters out of Celadon to do some exploring on route 16. She releases Pilgrim to wander around a bit, he's always enjoyed doing that. Riley decides to look around under the bushes for anything interesting...leeks, maybe?? She ends up finding a basic ball under a bush- not too shabby! Someone must have missed a throw hehe...Riley sure had her share of misses, too. After some poking around of his own, Pilgrim returns holding a really weird berry! Riley has to look it up on her pokedex...it's called a "chilan berry." Cool!
Well, no leeks yet! Riley searches around for a suitable place...hmmm, just from her experience with Drake, Riley guesses that farfetch'd like sticks a lot. So she devises a master plan!! She goes around, collecting many, many sticks- so many sticks!- until she has a good-sized pile. Then, Riley releases surskit in front of the pile. The little blue bug looks up at her expectantly. "Okay, surskit, I'm gonna need you to smell really good to attract some pokemon- hopefully farfetch'd!" As surskit does her thing, Riley feels both silly and excited about her plan. That's never a good sign :3
Sure enough, after 30 minutes of surskit smelling ridiculously delicious (good thing Riley isn't particularly hungry atm), something seems to be approaching the heap of stix!

With a bunch of newly full pokeballs in her bag, Riley decides to journey back to Celadon for now. This isn't over on the Rare Leek, though! She's just getting hungry. After stopping for a snack at the pokemon center, Riley ruthlessly attempts to trade away some of her newly caught 'mons with trainers in the lobby.
