"We'll see when the time comes. I'm certainly not defenseless myself" Lowell admitted, his ice-blue eyes also brimming with amusement.
"I must say, talking to other monotype trainers sure is refreshing"

"Ahm yes. It's a Rainbow Gem. They're really beautiful - but that's not the main feature even if some use them as jevelry." Jane offered Song the glimmering gem. "It's also an adaptable Focus! You could just rearrange the lines to different alignments to help other aspects." With a beaming smile she added. "Or if that didn't make sense, ask me to fix it."
"That goes for you too!" Jane offers the pair of one types a Rainbow Gem each from the depths of her pockets, once their discussion subsided. "I'd just love messing around with trinkets and Shards and stuff; so it just feels natural to share it. Besides! It's almost like my own little badge... If you ever have any questions about talismans and stuff don't hesitate to ask!"

"That's a neat trick! Kind of like a rock version of Leavanny's cloaks. Could you set one to defense and fire, if possible?"

The young woman seemed to bounce with excitement at receiving the gift "Oh wow! That's so nice." She tinkered with it a little before looking sheepish. "Which arrangement is for attack?"
Once Jane had set it up, Song placed it on the collar of her tunic, beaming happily. "I don't really have any need to catch other Pokémon. I think my team is great! We just need to get stronger and enhance our abilities with items... which means money, which means more battles! ... I just wish there were more trainers that joined battles, I rarely get to jump in except at the Gym."

"Just a second!" Jane beams and works her magic on the two Rainbow Gems, setting Songs to Attack and Lowell's to defence. She had this nagging suspicion that Aurora could figure this out (or that beast of hers could help! Maybe? Probably). But just in case she took a second look at her and the 'Truth' too. "There!"
"They aren't really like Leavannys cloaks, that would be more at the branch of elemental magiks. There's the Type Braces that can help block, for example, fire." Jane explains and picks up one of her pokeballs. From it she releases a small but fierce looking Mawile. "This is Sam! Sam would you kindly show your Fire Brace? I could make another one of those if you want."
Sam looks around at the small gathering, looking a tiny bit disappointed that there wouldn't be a battle. She was itching to make up for yesterday! But not right now it seems. She holds up her left arm to show off her bracelet. It seems to be made out of ribbons with a small arrangement of Red shards, almost like a timepiece. When she felt that they had gotten a good enough look (rather quickly) she wandered off to play with Fluffy the Flareon.
Jane herself sat down and started to dig through her bags for Red shards. "Mhm I'm just gonna check what I have right now. Should probably go and look for more supplies later... Oh and Song - maybe you should make a club or something? You know for fighting! That way it could be easier to find a full contact battle. Hmm or maybe an app?"
"At the very least - maybe you two would be interested in that?" Jane nods at Lowell and Aurora. At least she seems to have listened to parts of their earlier discussion!

Aurora didn't seem to listen to the conversation, having wordlessly accepted the Rainbow Gem and held it in her hand. Suddenly, she started mumbling. The Gem levitated in the air, spinning and glowing purple as the girl brought both her hands to bear. Glowing Unown sigils ran along her hands as she span the Rainbow Gem faster and faster, before there was a flash of pink light and she snatched the Gem out of the air.
"Yz're ma- Whoops. Sorry. Keep forgetting myself. Anyway, thanks. this'll do nicely." She seemed to pause for a few moments before adding. "...The cloth is hiding it, but I'm smiling at you. Just to be clear. This is actually really cool of you. Eheh." She put the gem away, clapping her hands together. "Why yes, a full contact battle club is a wonderful idea! I do rather enjoy putting my, ah, many talents to the test when given the opportunity. It's one of the reasons I've found the Gym battles much more fun than I thought they'd be." She looked around at the three gathered. "Incidentally, I am available for a battle at absolutely any time, if you're brave enough~" A mischievous giggle escaped her as Cipher rolled her eyes.

"My particular way of fighting tends to weird people out, but I suppose it's an idea. Can't deny it'd be pretty fun to have people with which to regularly duke it out"
At Aurora's almost cocky proclamation Lowell raised an eyebrow.
"You are aware that the only better type match-up for Bug than Psychic is Grass, right?"

"I think I will simply observe for now." Song sat cross-legged near the dwindling fire and reached for a log. She stood it up and splintered it with a quick strike of her hand, giving her ready kindling to add to the flames. She turned her attention back to the two to see if they would actually duel.
She tried to maintain a calm demeanor, but she was really excited. Her archives were severely lacking in both of their specialties and this had the potential to give her much more experience than any single battle that she had fought herself.

"Hmm. And we could have that scene and maybe some custom obstacles... Jane mused, not looking too interested in fighting herself. At least bit right now! (She suspected any gym-attempt would leave her bruised at the very least - no need to pre-injure herself!)
"If they have a go at it, are you going to sketch it down or something?" she asked the helpful Song. "It would be cool if they had something to go over afterwards - if only because it's cool. And maybe helpful to see what works and what doesn't."

"Yes, that was the plan. I am sorely unfamiliar with both of their types tactics. I could probably exhaust myself in a single battle between them." Song seemed happy about being exhausted.

In reply to the bug boy's assertion, Aurora simply took a book out of her bag and began running through the pages. She thumbed through a few as the letters on the pages sparked and... shifted? The girl thumbed through a few more before glancing back up at Lowell. "You know, my insectoid friend, types really aren't everything. With the right spells, you can bring down any target, regardless of what it resists or how tough it is. All souls react to pain in the same way, after all."
"I'd be more than willing to show you, if the ladies don't mind a bit of a holdup." As she spoke, runes danced over her visible skin and her eyes began to glow an even more intense gold. "How about it?"

"Nah, it sounds like an absolute waste of time" Lowell said, completely uninterested in the offer.
"Why does everyone scale up banter? Banter's fun. There's no need to make it into a brawl. And psychic powers aren't spells, nor do they affect the soul. Stop being so unnecessarily dramatic"
Lowell kinda shrugged.
"Since we seem to be caught between dueling battle-maniacs: I don't enjoy fighting. I learnt how to out of necessity. I'm probably not gonna pick a fight for funsies"

"Well, what's this? Did I hear a climb down? I think I just heard a climbdown!" She span around, pages billowing as she raised a leg and pointed the book right at Lowell, psychic power coruscating around her.. as Cipher rolled her eyes and gave Lowell an apologetic look.
"You lack a warrior's spirit! You are a coward, and cowards must be punished! By the power of the words within this book, I challenge you to...pffff..." She wobbled, before putting her foot down and bursting out into laughter, the psychic storm disappearing as quickly as it came. "Wow. I can't believe I almost got through that with a straight FACE! I... hahaha... man, what is wrong with me today?" She straightened herself up and snapped the book shut. "So I up the ante for fun, sue me. Fascinating perspective, by the way. To only use it when you have to sounds like a recipe to go out of practice, but what do I know?"

"Well I agree with Lowell. No need to get punched more often then nececery!" Jane injected into the conversation. Truth to be told, she was a bit glad that they hadn't spent too much energy pummeling eachother. As opposed to a real gym or similar place her Ranch did not have easy and fast access to top tier medical services. Maybe that was something they needed to fix? At least if they expected to have lots of battles here. Hmm...
"But! You shouldn't hate on dramatic gestures - they are half the fun of banter you know." Jane continued after a brief pause to think. As she spoke she shuffled around a bit and then sat up straight, with a mischievous look on her face. "And real magic ..."
*Poof!* The girl disappeared in a puff of smoke! ... However when the smoke disapparated a moment later she was still there, grinning and with a Dragalge behind her. The dragon pokemon was fuzzing with Jane's hair, trying to wrangle the unruly locks back into place.
"Real magic is anything if you try hard enough!"

"Since when is brawling the only way of practice?" Lowell huffed. "Some people have never heard of a combat dummy, I swear"
Lowell pulled out a coin and started playing with it, mostly to keep his hands occupied.
"Saying that if you know how to fight you need to always be looking for a fight is like saying that if you're a great cook you must always try to take over any kitchen you see"

"Since when was hitting a dummy the only way of practice? There's no substitute for the real thing, you know? I mean, you don't have to do it all the time but not bothering with it at all..." She took a step back leaning on a tree with her book fully away. "Man, how does someone as freaking normal as you manage to get out of bed in the morning?" Aurora mumbled loudly, rolling her eyes for dramatic effect as Cipher let out a sigh.

Song stood and stretched. "If there's no battle to observe here, I'll head out to put some training time in. It shouldn't take us but a couple of hours."
With that, she recalled both of her Pokemon into their balls and headed back out toward the road at a leisurely trot. The fighter was sure she'd probably have to get to the main route before finding anyone wishing to battle, but the run could be a good warm-up.

"Mm see you later Song!" Jane waves her goodbye for now. She reached forward to absorb more of the cosy warmth from the fire. "Should probably try for something similar. I'm thinking of heading to the Saffron Gym in the afternoon and try my luck at the trainers at the very least; anyone want in on that? I'll poke Song too I think."
"Now though I think I'm going for a walk and look around a bit for Shards or Pokémon..." She stood up and asked Tia to watch the fire for her. The Dragalge was more then capable to make sure it didn't get out of hand! Jepp that would work Jane thought to herself. With a wry smile she turned her attention to the remaining two guests. "If you want to hang around here I don't mind, as long as you are nice to the pokémon. But that's not an issue I hope! Feel free to stay as long as you want and drop by at any time! ...hmh... There's not much here but open space - but there's a Move Tutor that comes by every so often if you want that service."

Song was gone until just before lunch. She came jogging back to the camp where she left the others. A light sheen of sweat on her body had collected the dust from the route and darkened the skin of her legs. She seemed no worse for wear and quite pleased with herself as she gave a deep breath and sat on the ground to stretch. Her Infernape released itself and busied with stoking the fire again to cook lunch.
"Well, that was a successful morning. We'll definitely be making a trip to town this afternoon! Jane, I'll come and watch you battle, if you want. I've already earned my Iron Fist, but I can always learn more techniques in case I want to try 'hard mode' later!" Song seemed almost giddy at the idea of the battle that others had described as futile.
