Welcome to my first (public) PTU Play-by-Post, i hope we are gonna have a lot of fun.
What to expect
This is gonna be a semi-standard gym crawl in a homebrewed region. Grab a team, get together with other trainers, fight stuff, get famous, be awesome. Simple. Oh, but the Gyms will be mostly non-standard so all sorts of weird stuff may go down, including Trainer participation.
Also this setting isn't super fleshed out, so you get some serious liberties in crafting your backstory, so thats fun.
Setting details
GMs note: while it may sound like im talking about a Medieval style setting, im not. They have the standard tech of any Pokemon setting.

4. Spectra City, the capital of Ojeda Island. This island is full of lush and verdant fields, and is a nice quite place to raise a family.
5. Medlocke City, the Capital of Blackfoot island. It is an old town, with buildings made of brick. The people are as solw and stolid as the buildings.
6. Mendoza Town, a small farming town nestled in the rolling hills of the islands western half.

9.Youngstown, the second largest port city in the Silver Coast. Has a rivalry with Blackston.

13. Sanctuary, so named because the town is built around a protective harbor
14. Riggsville, the de facto head of the Confederacy, was once a great shipping city, now famous for logging
15. Burr Point, this small town is little more than a stop over for most people.
16. Coleridge, This small town grew up around an old route to the Silver Mountain Alliance territory.
17. Eternity, Eternity is a lone city in a sea of tall old growth pine

18 Sabbath, this gloomy little town is a stop over for travelers through the backwoods. The woods nearby are said to be haunted.
20. Blackwood, another dark town in this often untread backwoods.
21. Blackmire, The largest town in the Alliance, they, and their sister city Crowton make most of their money off of pharmaceuticals from the swamp
22. Crowton, a town famous for its apothecaries and herbal medicine.

33. Fife, Fife is the most powerful and, arguably, influential city in the entire region. It is only rivaled by Silver Mount in influence, something that has never stopped annoying the leadership.
The Emerald Alliance
24. Barton, a rival to Blackmire and Crowton for pharmaceuticals, this town is largely a newcomer to the regional stage.
27. Fairmount, a successful farming town.
31. Borstal, Borstal makes most of its money by plying fairies up and down the river.
The Silver Mountain Alliance
34. Blackmoor, Blackmoor is the only road entrance into the Silver Mountains and as such makes most of its money on tolls and catering to travelers
35. Blackrock, named after the nearly black granite that makes up the area, Blackrock is a mining town that makes its money from its unusual stone.
36. Bleak Dive, this towns name is actually a joke. The story goes that when the town was little more than a few mining shacks and a bar, someone once called the bar a "rather bleak looking dive" the bar changed its name and it stuck to the area. Now its a fairly typical mining town, producing iron for the region.
37. Ron's Peak, another small mining town, mostly just a stopover, however it is known for a rock arrangement called Bladehenge.
38. Silver Mount, a city that struck it rich from a massive silver mine, Silver Mount leads the alliance and has a long beef with Fife.
39. Kickapoo, a small town young town that was originally just a place were Skiddo herders congregated. Eventually some permanent structures appeared and with the discovery of iron nearby a budding mine started up. Recently mining has stopped as they have broken into a massive chamber that has a stepped pyramid with a massive steel skull inside.
I realize that a bunch of these descriptions are very short and even more vague, if you want more info, just ask.
Arrival of the Stranger
The Silver Coast is different from most regions in that it doesn't have one unified government. Instead it is ruled over by several influential City States, some of which control smaller towns nearby. This has of course led to violence and near unceasing wars, at least until about a century ago, when a pair of extremely powerful, and hitherto unknown Pokemon came crashing out of the sky, locked in combat. They landed Northeast of Black Bay and began destroying the land around them as they continued their battle.
The rulers of the area gathered together, each one fearing that one of the others had called down these beasts. When it became obvious that this wasn't the case they set about trying to find a solution. Sadly they fell to petty infighting rather quickly and it was only the appearance of a stranger that caused them to stop.
This stranger, clad in chainmail and carrying a sword and spear came to the rulers atop a monstrous sea serpent, even larger than a Gyarados. He told them that the two beasts that where fighting where from his land, and that they were called Saskwara and Wendigra. He told them to gather all of their warriors and to meet him where the beasts where fighting.
The army of warriors gathered just outside of the battleground of the Legendary Beasts, watching the stranger. He had made three circles on the ground and had placed a weapon in each, a Bow, a Spear and a Mace, then he began to chant. As he chanted Lighting, Ice and Fire began to erupt in pillars from the circles, eventually taking on the shapes of three wolves. The three wolves ran towards Saskwara and Wendigra, but did not attack. Instead they began running around them, each wolf leaving a trail of its element, which began to wind around the others until it formed a solid band.
The warriors stood tensely, waiting for the Stranger's order, but it never came. Soon they heard three roars in the distance. Raikou, Suicune, and Entei ran out of the mountains and began running around the circle that the wolves had created, only in the other direction. Soon a second band had formed around them, this one lifting up the smaller one. The smaller one latched itself on to Saskwara and the larger one restrained Wendigra, shrinking both Pokemon as they struggled, until they where unconscious and no larger than dolls. Then the Stranger picked them up, put them in his bag and sent the wolves back from whence they came.
Before he left, the rulers asked him why he had them summon their warriors if he could have handled it alone. He only shrugged and said:
"To witness."
And then he was gone.

Now that i got all of that pesky background out of the way, heres what i need from you.
-Background, skirt length minimum please
-A lvl 1 Trainer
-A list of 5 Pokemon you'd like as a starter (no guarantees you'll get them, i just want an idea)
-A list of 5 Pokemon you really don't like (so i dont unintentionally give you something you hate *looks at Vanilish*
-A wish-list of pokemon (ok this isnt required but its helpful)
That is correct you will not be picking your own Starter instead we will be doing things a bit differently. New Trainers get their Pokemon from Snider Island's Reservation (its the Northernmost island). Its a large Safari zone like area with fairly docile Pokemon. It is widely believed that letting Trainers actually catch their first Pokemon makes the Pokemon in question more loyal (if this is true or not is arguable, but its how they do things). So you'll get a bunch of balls and be let loose inside of a Reservation to try and find your Mon, don't worry you can fight them (or not) if you choose.
Now, you do get to pick your Starter's gender, personality and Nature when you get it, gotta give you some level of control.
What you get
Everyone starts with:
-A Pokedex
-5 Pokeballs (you won't be using these in the Reservation)
-2 Potions
-1 Antidote
-1 Tent
-1 Flashlight
-1500 Pokebucks
Whats allowed
All of the current playtests (we arent using the d20 Capture rules though)
Supernatural Classes
Game of Throhs
The Jailbreaker from DPDoM
Alohan Pokemon (This Dex)
Whats banned
BotD (i would really rather not deal with it)
Pretty much the rest of DPDoM (though i may ok certain things, just ask me, but Bots are right out.)
Other details
-People eat Pokemon, Pokemon eat Pokemon, and (in rare cases) Pokemon eat People. Yes, this works like nature. Pokemon are smarter than most animals, so they kinda know that going after people is a terrible idea, but it may happen. However Tauros Burgers are a thing and Pidgeys will eat Caterpie in the wild, so just be aware.
-I'm not a fan of PC death. Im just not. This doesnt mean that i will intervene if you do something stupid and you get your Pokemon (or yourself) killed. It just means i have no intention of forcing the issue.
-I will control you Pokemon outside of battle. Yes you can have some narrative control, but if your Spearow has an annoying personality expect me to have it annoy you.
-On starting Type Aces, if your Starter is not of the appropriate Type (it could happen) you will have an in-game week to get a Pokemon of the appropriate type (and i will make sure you get access to at least one) If you dont get one at that point, your Features (and possibly Edges) will be refunded and you can grab something else.
-The other Regions are canon
-Only 1 character per person
-Your character has to be at least 18, other than that Age doesnt really matter.
-I may use some Fakemon
I'll be accepting 3-4 players and recruitment will close Aug 25 11:59 UTC
I think thats it (i know it isnt and i know i'll add stuff later, but w/e) so lets get to it, shall we? Oh, heres the Pregame Skype Chat if you want in

Founding of the League
The rulers of the varying City States had tried to puzzle out what the Stranger had meant when he had said "To witness", and when none of them could figure it out, they had asked others, until this question united them. Eventually, one of the warriors, a woman named Lysandra Drell, said that it was to Witness the destructive power of the Legendaries eternal war, so that they could realize their own folly.
This seemed like a satisfactory answer and so the rulers of the City States signed Non-Aggression Pacts with one another, as they had all lost their taste for war.
Several years went by and tensions had been steadily increasing between the Alliance of the Silver Mountains and the Coalition of Fife. All attempts at mediation had failed and it looked as if war would break out. That was until Lysandra Drell, Grand Chaplain of the newly founded Order of Three Elements, intervened. She gave them a better way to solve their differences over open war. She proposed that each side bring forth its 6 best warriors and that they battle it out, the winner also winning the dispute.
Each side agreed to these terms and the first League Tournament was held, with the Silver Mountain Alliance the victor.

Modern Silver Coast
The modern Silver Coast is now a, fairly, peaceful area, since most large scale arguments that can't be mediated are solved via Pokemon battles. Thankfully the possible loss of standing is enough of an incentive to stop the City States from solving all of their problems this way. It has also led to a budding Pokemon League, as the Trainers that each City keeps on call need something to do in between Grudge Matches.
Currently tensions are once again brewing between the Silver Mountain Alliance and the Coalition of Fife. The Three Island Alliance has so far been able to keep things calm, but a Grudge Match looks like its in the near future. Thankfully the other Cities have stayed out of it, as its not worth getting dragged into as its nothing more than a long standing fight over pasture rights.
The Order of Three Elements is the primary "religion" of the region, with another Order, the Order of the Stranger, being the second largest. The Order of Three Elements preaches peace and trains the mediators that rule over matches and help to settle inter city disputes. The Order of the Stranger is nearly the opposite, they seek to emulate the Stranger, a wandering warrior who helps those he comes across.
While the two Orders are fundamentally different, they are reasonably amicable.
Recently, there have been attacks in the wilderness by a group calling itself the Black Claw. No one is entirely sure what they want, but they are violent and ruthless.
