The time at last has come. Preparations have been made, as have goodbyes - possibly final ones, though no one has really vocalized that, in hopes that it will not be true. But now, as spring is beginning to turn into summer, the latest expedition is about to be sent into the depths of Cerise, in hopes of bringing back the half-dozen parts that are needed to complete the PC system. It is an unfortunate fact - as you have been well informed by Astrid, the person in charge of the PC program - that the pieces that remain can't just be dug out of any PC that you find around the city. All of those parts have long been found and stockpiled. To find what's needed, you'll have to find a server... except nobody knows where those are kept.
As the four of you gather at the edge of the village, Bjorn, the current chief of the tribe, is waiting for you there. Tall, and - despite his age - with a build to rival Heimdall, he has led for many years now, as long as most of you can remember - though, it's basically an open secret that his wife, Hertha, is the one managing much of the behind-the-scenes politics.
"Greetings, brave adventurers," he says, once everyone is present. "I know that you have been getting ready for this for a while now, and you have already said your farewells. So, I will not attempt to drag this out for longer than I have to. I'm sorry that I did not have much of a chance to talk to you before, but I wish to thank you for the service that you are doing to your tribe, and to wish you luck on your endeavors. I, too, did a search in my younger years. Always remember that even if you cannot find everything, every little bit counts. Even information. If there is anything that you wish to ask me before you leave, I freely invite you to. If not, godspeed, and good luck. Cerise is a place of wonders, but also of dangers. Always be cautious."

Clio had her head turned towards Bjorn's voice, trying--and failing--to keep Eurus calm in her arms. It had taken enough convincing to get them to let her go, and she wasn't about to risk being taken off the scavenging team when she was this close to leaving the confines of the tribe at last. She shuffled closer to Mimi, until she could just barely feel the cloth from her sister's garments against her own arms when the breeze shifted; best not to take on the spotlight for the time being.
She nodded when Bjorn finished, but didn't say anything to him. She was too busy trying to remember who else was in the group with them... there was that boy Mimi was always going on about (or was it a new one?) and someone else, she was sure, but she didn't have a name or a voice to go by.
"It'll be nice to get going," she murmurs low to Mimi, after releasing Eurus into the air. She fiddles a bit with one of the gems on her necklace. "I just wanna get out of here. Do something fun for once..."

Mimi fidgets nervously, licking her lips and smoothing the snug fabric of her vest down, as Bjorn speaks. Her gaze darts between Bjorn and the others in her small squad, resting equally as often on the tall auburn haired man as on the village leader she's supposed to be attending to. She regrets, bitterly, not having asked more information about who this expedition would be with, when they'd agreed to do it. Above her, Artemis soars on silent wings in wide circles and she wishes, too, that she were up there. A faint breeze picks up, tossing the small ruffles on Mimi's collar and caressing each of her party members in turn. Her hair is bound tightly enough that it doesn't stir, though the feathers flicker lightly. When she notices Clio shift closer with a sense that doesn't involve her eyes, she reaches out blindly and curls a pinky around her sister's.
"It will be," She responds to her sister's low murmer. "Just a little longer."
She shrugs in response to the offer for questions. They know the important bits. Nothing he can tell them now, that she can see, that they haven't already covered.

Heimdall stood tall and proud, as though this humble dismissal of the four were a grand ceremony, seeming to radiate positivity, confidence, and vigor. Tyr let out a little grumble at his ankle, the beetle ever bored of lousing about. His master's tidings were ever ones of adventure and exploration, these moments in the city tiresome. He met Mimi's eyes only once as she took him in, expression curious and a little surprised. It wasn't unlike a puppy that had discovered something new for the first time. The slant of his head and slight quirk of his eyebrow, asking all manner of unvoiced questions of the girl.
"The only thing I need know is that there will be hunting and foraging enough to keep my new friends well fed. The land provides, but I know little of where we go."

Loki idly scratches Pyre under the chin, the Cyndaquil cooing lightly, as he turns one ear to the old man's speech. He'd heard the stories before, the cautions, the tales. It was so trite, but he supposed that humoring the old man before they finally took him off the leash would be for the best. He casts an appreciative eye over the two less familiar companions that will be joining them, before smirking as he sees the look being directed at Heimdall.
"We'll be sure to represent the tribe well out there Chief. I'll do my best to make inroads with any groups from other tribes we may encounter." He has a sly smile on his face as he says it. He feels the wind tugging at his clothes, and stokes his soul-fire higher to ward off a chill. His black hair wafts in the breeze, briefly curtaining his face.

"Along the way there will be plenty," Bjorn replies to Heimdall. "There should be quite a few trees along the way that are bearing fruit by now, so, unless their woodland cunning allows them to evade your sight," he says, in a joking tone, "You should be at least sated."
"In the city is another manner entirely," he continues, back to being more serious. "There are some areas where greenery grows... but any places like that which contain easy food will probably have been picked clean by the Pokémon of the city. You'll probably have to try and search for places that still have at least some food. Thankfully, if the city is anything like it was when I went, there should be plenty of buildings that have at least a small supply of food."
When Loki mentions other tribes, Bjorn's lips tighten. "Just... be careful. Some groups are more temperamental than others... and Cerise does tend to have a confrontational effect on people. Do not be surprised if you have to fight other tribes at some point. Especially if you've eyes on the same resource."

Clio raised her eyebrows and pulled a face. It's only her unwillingness to make a scene that keeps her from making a sharp retort against Bjorn's last comment. "We'll handle what comes our way," she murmurs, still trying to place the voices of the other two in their group. "With primary attempts being... diplomatic, if the opportunity arises. Don't be too concerned for us, Chief."
She lets go of her sister's hand and takes a step towards the guys in their group, following where she'd heard their voices. "Besides, I've no doubt we'll have plenty of time to learn of each others' strengths." She smiles in what she dearly hopes is their direction, her eyes flicking around at head-height without ever quite meeting their own gazes.

Heimdall rewarded Clio with a handsome smile and a light, playful laugh. "I will do my best to exceed expectation then, Miss. Foraging, navigating, hunting, and tracking are my forte." He pondered for a moment if there was more to his skills then that, and then decided there probably wasn't. He loved the great outdoors, and he was good at what he loved!
"Thank you for your advice Bjorn. I will see that we are properly provisioned before heading deeper into Cerise then." He nodded solemnly. "Nothing worse then the lamentations of an empty belly."

"What, other people want to try and collect the super rare, incredibly difficult to find and replicate technology that would let them become the things of myths?" Mimi says, grinning. "I never would have guessed."
She glances over at Clio as the girl moves, pulling away, and keeps the breeze flickering between the three of her party members freely. "I'd rather try avoiding strangers before we even get to diplomacy, truth be told," She says, turning away from the village chief and peering down the road leading out of the village before back at the group. She tilts her head, examining Loki and Heimdall.
"Hey...big guy. How good are you at, you know...not being noticed?" She asks, frowning. "I know you're a hunter and all, but..."
She trails off, giving him a full body admiring stare.
"...you're rather noticeable."

"Well I know how to stay downwind when I'm dealing with prey animals, and how to erect a blind, but I guess I don't really hide that well where it counts. I'm too big." Heimdall offered sheepishly, a big hand rubbing the back of his head. Turning his attention slightly towards Loki, he gave his partner a confused look. What was so funny?

Loki looks at Heimdall, barely able to restrain his laughter, before looking over at the girl who seems so smitten with his large friend. "You'll have to pardon his innocence, but I sincerely wish you the best of luck. And know that he certainly speaks the truth about his skills." He snickered at the last.
"But yes chief, thank you for the advice, we'll be sure to provision appropriately on our way there. Who knows, we might run into some scouting parties on their way back and be able to get some extra information." Making his way over to the two ladies, he gives Mimi a cheeky grin, and murmurs, "I think you and I will get along splendidly miss," before continuing in a more normal tone, "But before we depart I simply must know the names of my companions. I am Loki Farstep, and the exemplar of innocence hulking behind me is Heimdall. Please, may I have your names?" He moves to Clio, smiling at her.
Up close, both girls can feel he's giving off a bit more heat than seems normal.

Mimi giggles and nods, offering a playful bow. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Loki and..Heimdall," She says cheerfully, straightening up. "This is Clio, and I'm Melpomene."
She pauses. "Mimi works fine."
She gives Heimdall a considering glance in light of the new information, filing it away mentally, before raising a hand to her mouth to blow a sharp whistle. Above, Artemis dives, landing with talons wrapped delicately around her leather wrapped forearm.
"And this is Artemis," She introduces, stroking a few errant feathers down.

"Well," Bjorn says, with more than a hint of mirth, "It seems that you'll do just fine working together. Now, best of luck to you all. May the gods watch over your path."With that, the group sets out, able to continue their conversation along the way. The path that they follow is a well defined compact dirt trail, large enough for at least a dozen people to walk abreast. It's clear that this was, at one point, probably used at least somewhat regularly... but, now, the wilderness is beginning to overtake it again. Or, more accurately, the grass is. As you walk away from the village, and towards the direction that you've been told that Cerise is, the trees begin to thicken. At first, it's subtle, groupings of trees slowly creeping closer and closer together. The first, uneventful, night out in the wilderness is still in what could probably be called 'grassland'. But, by midday of the second day, you're well and truly in the thick of tree territory. It's not terribly dark and foreboding, though. While the sun is no longer direct, and the wind is slightly cooler, it's still warm, and light is still able to filter in. Many of the trees, though, are growing taller than the ones nearest Malta. Unfortunately for enterprising climbers, these ones also have very few branches close to the ground and so will be a much more difficult prospect. Throughout the woods, there are the omnipresent sounds of Pokémon, mostly birds. Some are familiar, others are ones that you've never heard before. Roll Perceptions, please.
Also, in this game, any timeskip of longer than a day will allow one day's use of any Features, Training, or Abilities, regardless of how long the timeskip actually is. So, as of right now, you can apply a day of Training, etc.

With Eurus floating overhead, and the footsteps of her sister and new allies steady around her, Clio wastes no time in pulling out her dowsing rod as soon as they are clear of the village. She'd been up early thumbing over the pages of one of her two special books, tracing the familiar bumps with her fingertips, sitting in the silence as her sister slept. With the information fresh in her mind she channeled power into the rod-- and within minutes of walking had gathered a good handful of red-hued shards, which she eagerly gathered up into one of six small pouches at her side.
As usual, she relied on the rest of the world to pay attention to their surroundings. Eurus chirred warily above her; Clio was more concerned with what her sister saw, however, than the nervous ramblings of her overly-attached poke-partner.
"Beautiful world out here, don't you think? Just look at that... everything." she mumbled with a grin, returning to Mimi's side.

"Agreed Clio, I by and far prefer the forest to the grasslands. The sun doesn't burn the skin so, and the rustle of the wind through the leaves is pleasant to listen to in the quiet." Heimdall replied pleasantly, casually alert as the group plods along at a decent pace. "It seems so strange to take to another culture as one might a trapped hare."

Loki grins at Clio's sardonic tone. It's not too hard to suss out that she's blind once one takes a moment to look. The movement, the way she never seemed to meet anyone's gaze or turn away from it. The fact that she was clearly intending to be independent as possible was actually rather endearing. He raises a brow at Heimdall's statement, looking rather impressed.
"I'm half-tempted to give climbing those trees a shot in order to get a better view of how far we have to go. In fact..." He rolls his shoulders as Pyre gets a good grip, before getting a running start and attempting to "bounce" between two close-together trees in order to ascend high enough to get hold of a branch for a taller tree.

Mimi leans against her sister, nudging their shoulders together when the blind girl starts playing with the dowsing rod. "Find anything interesting?" She asks curiously, peering at the shards. At Clio's comment she holds back a snicker somewhat poorly. "Yeah, it's uh, it's really pretty," She says, grinning widely.
Mimi turns to respond to the others when she notices Loki's attempt to jump up the trees. She raises an eyebrow, peering up at the nearest branch, and flexes something that isn't quite a muscle. Her hair is tightly bound, but the ruffles on her shirt and the feather in her hair flutters as her feet lift from the ground. She reaches the maximum distance she can force herself to lift and reaches for the branches.
"Are we climbing trees?"

Over the course of wandering, Clio manages to find some shards, just as Heimdall finds some berries not too far off the beaten path. It looks like the majority of them have already been eaten by wild Pokémon, but there are still a handful of them that seem to have just recently ripened. Heimdall finds 4 Oran berries The group elects to stop travelling for a short bit, on order to allow for Loki to try his hand at tree climbing, to see how much farther there is to go. He manages to get some increased height jumping off of the trees, and is able to snag one of the lower branches. Unfortunately, he's not able to actually get on top of it. To do that, he'll have to try and swing around and climb some of the trunk - luckily, there are some knots and notches in the bark, so it shouldn't be too hard, and the branches get more numerous above this point. Mimi is slightly more successful at tree-climbing, mostly because she has several meters of free lift, and manages to touch down on the lowest branch, the vast expanse of the tree above her. She's able to survey the land below, and marvel at how... okay, they only look slightly smaller. Unfortunately, it's really not that high. Heimdall slows his advancement and holds up a finger. "We may be moving into something's territory, there is a lot more activity nearby then we've seen in some time." He gestures to the slight rustling of the bushes nearby, and moves to seek out a nearby buzzing sound that has him curious. Not a bug's buzzing, no, but what else made that sort of noise?

Mimi settles into the tree, peering around and grinning at Loki where she sees him dangling. "You've got this, Farstep!" She calls, leaning back against the trunk of the tree. Artemis, who lands on a branch near her head, seems relatively unimpressed as she raises a wing to pull errand feathers into order.
She notices the rustling bushes a few seconds before Heimdall alerts their group and frowns, sending a burst of air around Clio to keep an eye on her sister. She glances at Artemis and tilts her head in the direction of the bushes, sending Artemis darting out on quiet wings to hover above the bushes.
