Before you can get up from behind the car, Amon hastily orders you to wait, explaining that they had stopped again. He seems perplexed for a moment, though, alternating his focus between you and the ground before asking if you felt anything strange.
You thought you might have felt a little disoriented, for just a second or two, but that could also be hunger. Or boredom. Stakeouts were surprisingly dull...

Huh. Well, that's odd. Alaric thinks. But... nope. Nothing strange. Why? What's happening?

Amon explains that the mysterious person from inside was oddly (and suddenly) focused on the floor, but neither he nor you could tell anything strange. Amon also admits that he couldn’t detect anything, and isn’t sure what to make of the whole thing.
He also notes that the man appears to have left the front room, at least for now.

Alaric decides to head inside the room that was just (hopefully) vacated. It certainly wouldn't be a trap. Right?

You enter the gloomy room, Amon in tow, and notice first off how gloomy it looks. Despite the daylight outside, the light hardly reaches in here. Altogether, the room just looks… heavy. The second thing you notice is what looks like a nearly-completed trap lying in the middle of the floor. Or, what might have been one, anyways. Now it was smashed back into all manner of sharp junk. The third is, surprisingly, a voice ("Bring down that shelf!"), followed by a crash, coming from the direction of an open door at the back of the room. Looking carefully, you can see the edge of a shadow dancing in the doorway, almost as though it was cast by a flame… but only for a moment, as it moves beyond your field of view. Amon informs you that the same person as before was in the next room, and was also the source of the voice.

Alaric decides that the most prudent course of action is also probably the most unsafe. Examine the trap. Or...what was left of it. See what it is. So, despite anything Amon might say, Alaric forges ahead... Perception: 4...

Examining the trap, you can tell that... it's not operational. And that it looks absolutely covered in sharp spiky bits. It would probably hurt to step on it, and you don't imagine you would fight very well with it digging into your shoe... But fighting was never your forte in the first place.
Unfortunately, through a combination of the gloominess, Amon's distractions, and the trap being both incomplete and broken... that's about all you can say. Who knows how long it's been there, or how it would have worked?
In your effort to ignore Amon, you also miss him mentioning a "bright light" coming from the next room, lost among the numerous other distractions he employed.

Well, it's good that it's not working... he thinks, absentmindedly. Assuming I would know if it was, I guess...Eh? What was that, Amon?

Even as Amon explains, probably quite annoyed at being selectively ignored by his Trainer, that while you were busy poring over the useless junk, there was a bright flash in the dark room that lead further into the building (and that you must have been blind to miss it), there is another flash behind the irate Elgyem - this one, you definitely notice.

I should probably check that out... he thinks, moving over towards the flash... and also hoping to not be blinded. That would be bad.
