Stopping a ways behind Orin, Jamie keeps quiet. She's curious where this'll go, considering it worked pretty well last time.

The Ratatata would eye him with the upmost suspricion, a protective paw placed firmly on the pitch black rock, as if to clearly say 'Mine!' It, however, also did not seem to want a fight, backing up a little with it's 'snack', however awkwardly it might be.

Being cautious not to make any sudden or quick motions, Orin began rummaging through his bag and pulled out some ingredients he just purchased to make baby food, (enough for one serving.) Kneeling down he offered the tasty treats to the Rattata as a trade. Orin was curious as to why the Ratata was coveting the rock and such a way, and suspected that it might have some value beyond being a rock. Learning from his past interaction with trubbish he didn't want to Simply place the food down on the ground that would just lead to the Rattata having a rock and a snack and Oren simply losing some food.
Politely but firmly, "come on over here, you don't want that rock, take this instead, much better; yummy."
Command 9hUbIyA63d6
Orin broke open some of the foods by squishing it between his fingers to release some of the aromas and lure the Rattata over.
_______ If Rattata abandons the dark rock Orin will wait until it has approached and toss the foods over to the side so he can grab the rock as the Rattata moves further away.
If Rattata approaches with the rock, Orin will attempt to get a hand on the rock before he makes an equivalent exchange.3d6

The Ratata seemed... hesitant, and, because of it, they where in a deadlock of sorts. It didn't trust Orin enough to come closer, and yet was not scared enough to run away, nor did it outright want to abandon the chance of food, and yet it did not seem to want to risk it's prize.

Orin wasn't sure how to proceed next, curiosity has gotten a hard hold of him. Yes it could be just a rock, but then why was the Rattata so protective of it? Well, he never has been one to shy away from a battle. 'should I be conserving my energy?'
Oh well, here we go. With a toss of a pokeball, Bandit appeared in front of Rattata. The next moment, he was behind the rat, dashing past with a Scratch leaving it between Orin and Aipom. Orin tucked the food back in his bag, 'too late.'

The Ratata is clearly injured by the hit, and it stuffs the rock in it's mouth the best it can, before limping away and trying to retreat, first shifting away one meter to avoid the angry monkey, and then running as fast as he can the rest of the way... Straight down the road. Someone learned in the Prometheus school of running away from things it seems.

"Don't let it get away Bandit, if you stay close, there's no way it will get away!"
Bandit dashed forward for another Scratch, trying to get in front of it.

The ratata would fall, beaten, the rock falling from it's mouth. However, with the threat gone, now BANDIT seems aptly facenated with immediately eating the 'stone'. Roll command check to see if he'll obey you if you tell him to stop.

Bandit would pause, the rock already half in it's mouth. he'd weight the options and then would sigh, bringing the sticky black stone back to orin. After all, he'd need to put up with him much longer then the now-unconscious ratata would.

Jamie applauds the masterful display, much more impressed with the handling than the fight. "Nice going actually telling Bandit what to do there, you looked pretty cool. So what's up with the rock?"

Orin retrieved the wet stone with two fingers, and tussled Bandit's hair with the other, "thanks buddy, we'll get you a proper meal, you deserve a treat today. For nw you can go play, just don't wander too far."
Bandit was expecting a treat right away, but was content with scampering off for the time being.

Looking at the dripping rock, he pondered what it might be. Orin wiped it off on his shirt for a better look, asking Jamie, "any ideas?"

"I dunno. Could be useful as bait or something?" She takes a closer look at it, before turning to walk to the river, mulling over if she'd seen it before. "If you're fishing I dunno if you could put it on a hook though. Seems a little hard for that."

"Ha, we'll it sure seems like pokemon want to eat it, maybe it's salty," eyeing it sideways, "but I'm not apt to taste it."

The rock seemed almost like a bit of hard candy, at best, though it was fairly dirty from it's 'adventures', it smelled faintly sweet, and allureing, even to the trainers, dispite it's appearance. Jamie would note it wasn't ACTUIALLY candy, no, it was something sciency, and perhaps even medically, dispite it's good looks, smell, and (apparently) taste.

Jamie, as sharp-eyed as she is, would notice a small passageway, winding through the grass. It was going in the wrong direcion, mostly, but would look interesting. If ignored, the river was a mere three minutes walk down the proper trail, winding next to the pathway, the icey mountain springwater running it's way down towards the ocean. Orin wasn't the only one who thought to have a swim, bobbing in the water idly would be an oddish, barely kicking enough to counteract the current, but seemingly enjoying itself as it tried, and failed, to hide.

"Hey Orin, after your swim, you wanna see what's down there if we have the time?" Jamie points out the narrow path to her friend while continuing on. "Could be some cool bugs or something, after all."
Once at the river, Jamie looks around, before seeing the Oddish lazing. "Well, unless you want to try the Pokewhisperer thing again, I should be able to catch this one with Shapiro pretty easy. Might want to clear the river before you have your swim either way."
