This bird's stubborn refusal to go down is starting to really frustrate Clay. So he decides to throw caution to the wind and go after it himself. He darts around to the opposite side from where Tavi, Lovers, and Holly are all clustered, hoping to blindside the bird - or at least take its attention away from the others momentarily so that they have a shot at it.
He bounds up at Mandibuzz, letting his guard down in favor of striking it as hard as he can manage. "Now, Tavi!"
"Taketh this!" Tavi slashes at the Mandibuzz with his seamitars again while it's being hit with a ballistic monkey-boy.

Mandibuzz is finally defeated, and the fallen Dark Type Pokemon (along with their trainer) are turned into pure dark-type energy as their physical forms are torn apart. The trainer screams in pain and terror before they are cut off suddenly when their body is fully disintegrated. All that's left now is to face D'Mara herself.
ZsaZsa gets Zoey up and healed again with the use of Zoey's restoratives. Honedge, Holly, and ZsaZsa's leftovers finish topping them off, with ZsaZsa reverting to her standard form.

Rei watches it go down, and since she was barely hurt, focuses it on helping the injured. Like Zoey and Tiki. Despite their issues, Rei doesn't want to see something 'bad' happen to Tiki. Especially now that she has someone of her own in Zoey.
"Come on you two, get up. We have work to do."
She brings out more dumplings for the group as well.
"Eat some more."
She recalls Gryz and waits for the others to move on.

Tiki holds her head as she gets up. That was really bad. Any major missteps, and it could be all over. With her ribs hurting super-duper bad, Tiki's hands glow brightly, and she presses them against herself. Tiki lets out grunts of pain as her ribs are set back into place, and healed up. She breathes heavily, and after she regains her composure, she makes sure to check on Zoey.

Clay does his best to patch up Red Child, Baloo, and himself - they're still aching and sore from the fight but without extended time to rest up, or more divine power than he's pretty sure Tiki's got, there's not that much they can do about it. And the rest of his team, thankfully, is still fresh. Red Child happily munches down another of Rei's dumplings as Clay looks toward the castle anxiously.
He lets out a high, monkey-ish noise, chattering to the Pokémon getting ready for action as he casts out links between his spirit and each of theirs in turn, then drops back into human speech. "Okay, this is the big show. We're all gonna have to rely on each other to get through this. D'Mara just uses the people who're supposed to trust her like puppets... We need to be able to share each other's strength. Time to show the god of death what it really takes to rule the world."
He has no idea if anybody's listening to his little speech, but really he's mostly just psyching himself up anyway.

After taking a few minutes to heal up, the group quickly makes their way into the palace proper. What was once a beautiful entry hall has been badly damaged by destructive Pokemon battles. At the far end of the entry hall is a large set of doors that likely leads to the throne room. They have been forced open and hang precariously by only their upper hinges. Just inside the room are the scattered and discarded bodies of the Royal Guardsmen. Sitting atop the throne, with the prone form of the Queen under her heel, is D'Mara. She smiles at the group as she stands, causing a grunt of pain from the surprisingly still living Queen. D'Mara then hauls the queen up by her throat and faces her towards the party. With only a devious smirk, she drains the life from the Queen before everyone's eyes, followed by tossing the lifeless husk to the side.
"Since things have been going so well for me today, I'm feeling generous." D'Mara begins before her gaze locks onto Zoey. "Zoey." Zoey flinches. "Why would you betray me like this? I know I'm not the best mother in the world. Far from it, in fact. Yet you turned your back on me. Does familial loyalty mean nothing to you?" She scoffs. "I suppose it doesn't matter. As I said though: I'm feeling generous. You and all your little friends can kneel before me now and acknowledge me as your new Queen. Do so, and I shall spare you from further harm. The same offer will be made to everyone else out there fighting, but you must take the first steps."

Tiki growls, and glares at D'mara for her actions. Tiki steps up next to Zoey as she adopts her Suicune features. She points at D'mara, and yells, "You're in position to ask for anything, or talk of loyalty! You're scum, and always have been when you turned your back on everyone! Turned your back on the Guild, The Queen, even your own daughter! I stand against you, and hopefully will open your eyes to what you've done. Either way, I stop you today." Tiki takes Zoey's hand and looks to her for to stand by her side.

Clay grits his teeth, and his eyes narrow like he's squinting into the sun. He can feel the pressure of D'Mara's power even from across the room, and after nearly a year of haunting nightmares, watching D'Mara drain the life from someone right in front of his eyes makes him physically queasy. Ripping someone's soul out isn't just vile, it's something that's not supposed to happen. People aren't meant to be that empty, even dead.
He grins at her fiercely - or, well. It looks like a grin, but the others at least know what it means when Clay bares his teeth. "Yeah. Loyalty. You lock your daughter up in your house and abandon her, you treat the people you're supposed to teach and protect like tools and kill them when they fail, and now you wanna talk about loyalty. Maybe it's just me and my monkey brain, but I thought loyalty was something you earned."
He plants his staff upright in front of him - it fits neatly into a crater left in the floor, gouged out by the fighting that preceded them here. "I have an offer for you. Give up Yveltal's power now, and go somewhere far away. Leave being the god of death to someone who knows what life and death are worth. I can't guarantee no one will come after you, but I won't chase you. You'll be safe from me unless you decide to make me feel like I'm not safe from you. If you don't, well... I'm like any other Pokémon, and I see a threat to me, my friends and family, my territory. I'll fight to protect those things, and if the threat won't leave, I'll make sure it can never threaten them again."
Clay takes a deep breath and looks straight at D'Mara's face, whether she's meeting his eyes or not. "You're not a god, you're not a queen. You're nothing but a predator. And the only meal you're gonna find here is my staff! On the honor of the Blazing Tree Troop, the Usurper will fall!"

Several Pokemon begin to emerge from the gloom that encompasses the throne room. "A shame. Truly. I'm not surprised to hear you say such things, little boy. I "locked my daughter up" for her own safety. I didn't want her involved in this. At home, she would be safe. Far away from the fighting. But no. You and your little friends had to drag her out here and get her involved in your fight. Anything that happens to her now is on your heads." D'Mara summons an enormous scythe to her hands. "I offered you a chance at survival. At living long enough to see your little one come into this world." She looks directly at Clay when she says this. "Will you truly allow your child to grow up without a father? My, what would your monkey friends think? Is not family important to them?"

"Apparently you have a different idea of 'far away' than I- w-wait, what?" Clay stutters to a stop in the middle of his riposte when D'Mara brings up that little nugget. "How, when would - h-how would you even know that?"
Clay is well aware of where babies come from, but he has no idea how D'Mara would know one involves him, particularly when he didn't. He shakes his head and takes a deep breath. "Y-you're... you're just trying to confuse me."

D'Mara smirks at Clay. "Oh no. I'm being completely honest. You think Death isn't aware when a new life enters the world? You're going to be a father, Clay. Surely I don't need to tell you who the mother is, at least. That would be awkward. When is the last time you saw her, even? Six months ago? Plenty of time for a baby to grow inside of her."

"It's been sooner than that!" Clay protests, before realizing he's letting himself get sidetracked. Breathe. Don't let her get to you.
He pauses for a moment, then shakes himself all over like he's shaking off water. Clay raises his staff again and points it at D'Mara. "Anyway. All you've given me is one more reason not to let you take me down that easy. And if I do die... well, a dead dad is better than a scavenger hanging over her. So. Last chance, bird brain. You give Yveltal's power up, and we can all leave this room alive. If you don't, we'll do it the hard way."

D'Mara's smirk does not fade as she rolls her eyes. The Pokemon lurking at the edges of the darkness become visible. The only one Clay and Tiki recognize is Zoroark, because that's what ZsaZsa is. Rei recognizes Sableye, having faced them in the Castle Dungeons as well as possibly in Rock Tunnel all those months ago. Even Weavile is recognizable to Rei. Rei, Holly, and Tiki may recognize the resemblance that the large, intimidating blue-black thing with three heads has to Zoey's Deino. If asked, Zoey can definitively identify every one of her mother's Pokemon, having obviously grown up among them at some point. Everyone gets extremely bad vibes from the purple sphere with the green face.

Clay bites his lip. He wishes he'd done some more Pokémon research now - the only one of them he recognizes is the Zoroark. He doesn't know much about Dark-types besides Pangoro, Carvanha, and Sandile, none of which seem to be here. Except that they don't like Fighting moves... if he can hit them.
He zeros in on the cloudy purple Pokémon, the closest one to him. "Zoey. What's this thing on the end here, with the face? Looks like bad news."
Wait a sec, one, two, three, four, five... Leaves one more at least. He beckons to Tavi, who steps up beside him, as he wonders what D'Mara's keeping back.

Zoey shivers a bit as she glances over at it. "It's called Spiritomb. It's formed from the souls of 108 evil people. You see that rock underneath it? That's called an Odd Keystone. It holds the 108 souls that create the Pokemon. It's also a Ghost-Type, with all the benefits that come with it. The gem-eyed critter over there is called Sableye. It's type is the same: Dark/Ghost." Zoey also helpfully identifies the remainder of D'Mara's Pokemon: Weavile, a fast Dark/Ice type, and Hydreigon, a Dark/Dragon and the final form of her little Danielle the Deino. One of the most vicious Dragon-types that she's aware of, which is part of why Danielle refuses to evolve (the other part being that its cuter to Zoey as a Deino).
After waiting patiently for Zoey to explain to her friends just how screwed they are, D'Mara signals her Pokemon to attack.

Tiki takes in all the info ZZoey has to give, and brings out her good ol' mount, Toppo. It valiantly snorts, and kicks up dirt as he glares at the enemies. Tiki gives a little cough to clear her throat as she was going to be filling up this throne room. She does have to get something off her chest. Something personal for one person in the room. She looks at Zoey. "Hey Z....I love ya."

Zoey blushes a little and smiles at Tiki. Before she gets the chance to say it back, D'Mara's Pokemon burst into motion. The Weavile closest to Tiki rushes at Toppo, claws sharpened and leg extended.

Tiki's eyes spot the enemy rushing her pokemon, and she dives in before Toppo can get hurt. Tiki takes a massive bump, and the rightfully angry bull retaliates. It rises up on its hind legs, crashes back onto the ground, and shards of rocks fly towards the weavile.

Clay springs back away from the explosion - not fast enough to avoid it entirely, but he's at least not so close to dead center of the meteors. Unfortunately he lands next to Spiritomb just in time to be knocked dizzy by Sableye's ray. He struggles to remember what Zoey said before everything went crazy. Ghost type. Can't use martial arts. Dammit.
Instead he spins his staff through that circular turning strike, too swift and all-encompassing to evade, though it goes a little wild at the end and he stumbles, shaking his head.
