Cecily drums her fingers against her upper arm thoughtfully, making a clicking noise against her carapace. "'A couple of weeks' would be a problem. We were hoping to get the Warforged thing fixed as quickly as possible. Unless we can derail this Halbreg's plans quickly, whatever they are, and well enough that he has to give you some space to breathe."
She doesn't want to reject the request outright, but she has to agree with Eli that the timespan involved would put them in a difficult position. She glances over at their Warforged companion. "Hells, we have a diplomat. Maybe Vaidos can even talk him down."
"Perhaps I could, but the hobgoblins aren't known to be the most reasonable of people. If it's true and he sees an opportunity, he may not be willing to listen." Vaidos' eyes whir almost silently as they swivel hesitantly to look between Ulk'raf and his companions, who are likely looking for the Warforge's input due to the nature of their current mission.
"You understand," he eventually says to the old orc, "I have my own people that I must return to. The damage this wave must have caused so close to its epicenter.... We could see what we may do as we pass by the village, but only for that short a time."
"However, perhaps we could also ease the burden on the militia's end? If there's some task we might help with that would free up some of your militia...?" He looks hopefully to the militia captain.
Tarkuul nodded silently as she listened to the other's suggestions. "I have to agree with Vaidos; freeing up the militia will likely take less time and allow a more permanent solution to the hobgoblin issue. And the quicker we get the Warforged situation fixed, the quicker Elder Ulk'raf and his clan will have their protection back, which will free up the militia again. Time is of the essence." She glanced between the orc and centaur, keeping her explanation short and sweet.

Ulk'raf made an impressed looking face and raised an eyebrow in Barawynn's direction. It was definitely a reasonable idea, all things considered, and she momentarily frowned in thought. She begins to explain that most of the stuff the militia is doing at present falls under things that would require a significant amount of time. If the issue is time, then it's something all parties can't afford. Then she stops, and she calls for a guard nearby, an elf with a breastplate far too large for him, and a Pansage on his shoulder. After a brief conversation, they discuss that an issue with the Amberbrand Labyrinth hasn't been resolved as of yet.
"The Labyrinth acts as a training grounds these days, it's possibly one of the safest sets of caverns this side of the world," She explains, and sighs a little bit, "But recently, wild Pokemon have popped up inside of it. This happens, sure, what with so many Pokemon that dig around underground, but recently it's been more, and they've seemed incredibly bothered. If you can head to Tuerin, he can supply you with some more information, if we can calm them down then that's one less thing to worry about."
She looks at Vaidos at the mention of Tuerin's name, indicating that he'd know who she means. Ulk'raf grunts, but begrudgingly understands and agrees it's the best course of action for both parties. Nevertheless, he claims he will head over to Pinecliffe, and see if he can't rally anyone else who will potentially assist. He draws out a totem carved into a shape that Tarkuul recognises, that of the Orcish representation of Anor. He releases a Zebstriika and mounts up, ready for the journey.

"That certainly sounds like an issue we can address," Cecily agrees. She's dealt with unusual wild Pokémon activity before, and she's sure the rest of the group has, too. She grinds her lower jaw against her mandibles slowly - about the Libellan equivalent of biting one's lip, and frankly about as much of a bad habit, too. She's making a list of questions to ask Tuerin in her head already - how many entrances the Labyrinth has, just for a start.
She turns her head to follow Barawynn's gaze toward Vaidos, expecting him to fill in some details here.
"Excellent, thanks you Captain!" He says with a mechanical bow. "Then let us be off, no time to waste!"
Vaidos strides off in some direction known to him, presumabely towards the Labyrinth.
"Master Teurin runs the Amberbrand Labyrinth, you see. Though I'm unsure whether he owns it or is just the administrator, I never thought to ask. He's a Naga with a peculiar sort-of Houndoom, with gemstones in its skin. It was rather strange, almost like how my kind would enhance themselves with special runes. Only my kind don't have flesh."

You move towards Amberbrand Labyrinth with Vaidos leading the way, Barawynn waving you off before passing her goodbyes onto Ulk'raf. The streets are still busy with an assortment of different forms of training. You see off on a rooftop there is a Fetchling trying to make jumps back and forth, occasionally scrambling the side before being assisted by a Talonflame whenever they miss. A Lurantis has its eyes blindfolded as a Libellan uses two sets of arms to fire two different bows, the arrows cleaved out fo the air. A number of Smeargle painting a couple of new target boards.
You pass the Statue of Angradd, a dwarven warrior in carved plate gear and his Sandslash by his side. As you go by, a Pidove that moved to rest on it is shooed away by an annoyed looking Halfling.
After a couple of streets you come towards the back end of the town and there is a large opening in the earth guarded by two Gillmen, a Dhelmise and a Wartortle. They smile upon seeing Vaidos and the one on the left waves a little. As you arrive, a Naga slithers from the entrance, his trident shining with crystalline features that shimmer in such a way that it appears almost to be aflame. Vaidos recognises him as Teurinand receives a toothy grin, far too wolflike to ever be sheepish, from the man.
"Back so soooon, Icarus? I'm afraid the Labyrinth is still closed." He laughs in such a way it sounds like someone trying to stop themselves throwing up, "Of course, I'm more than happy to have guests for lunch if that's the reason.

"I would certainly provide you the company under other circumstances, Master Teurin," Vaidos says, having no need for food himself but finds such gatherings for meals a good opportunity for socializing. "Unfortunately as the newly instated Warforged Ambassador, I haven't much time for idle conversation."
"These are my fellow Ambassadors," Vaidos introduces each in turn, "and we understand you've been troubled recently by aggressive pokemon in the mines?"
Tark kept her eyes peeled as they walked; quite the scene. A lot more variety and liveliness than back home, though most of these pokemon probably wouldn't do so well up north. Speaking of, Horuun would likely have trouble when they headed into her homeland, poor thing...She'd keep him in his rune when the time came, just in case.
The Naga put Tark on edge, but it seemed Vaidos and the others liked him well enough...Granted, most other races probably had the same feelings of unease for orcs that she was having for Teurin, and the irony was not lost on her, but still. At Vaidos's introduction, Tark simply nodded and gave a short "Well met."
Eli's brows knit in consternation as the group passes the statue of Angradd, mentally making a note to return to the spot after they've cleared things in the caves. He does however look to the others as they continue. "Did anyone else see something strange at that statue we just passed?" He makes an indistinct motion with his hands. "There was some kind of... light or energy around it for just a minute."
As they arrive, he stiffens slightly when the naga come out. The Confederacy has never had what can be called a congenial relationship with a nation so ideologically opposed to their own; and the number of encounters between Naga raiders and the Confederate Rangers was fairly high. He keeps his expression civil as he nods in greeting, leaving Vaidos to do the heavy lifting in the diplomacy department.

Cecily nods slowly - Eli might have noticed that she turned to look at it for a moment as they passed. "There was something there," she replied in an undertone. "I'm not sure what."
She bows as Vaidos introduces her, but is well enough aware of her own social skills that she doesn't try to contribute much. She's not in a position to be worried much about the teeth - it's not like Libellans aren't plenty predatory on their own - and while the Libellans and the Nagas' Slad'ran relatives have serious philosophical differences, Cecily's going to try to reserve judgment. After all, this one is out here in the most cosmopolitan place on the planet.

"Ooooh? That is assuring to hear," Teurin replied, glancing at each of you with a gaze that lingered just a little bit too long for comfort, "It has been...hectic."
He goes on to explain the Labyrinth itself. That, as you know, it is a place for training militia members and running trials that require certain circumstances. They've terraformed it, in a way, to suit their needs after it was abandoned a good few decades ago and has usually be fine since. They get the odd Roggenrola and Geodude lurking from time to time, but other than that things run fairly smoothly. There was once an incident with a few Carbink and a Sableye that'd found its way down but nothing too serious ever came of it. Usually, there would be some of the Pokemon from the Master's down there, for special events, however all have been removed for the time being for the obvious reason.
"Well, all except for one, after the first booout of the attacks, Master Mosstag's Chatot was down there, used to make odd noises in the dark you see, and hasn't yet been found." He sighs, and explains that they have attempted to work out what's going on but nobody really wants to venture too far just in case. Mosstag has been too upset to leave his room since, either. Teurin then realises that he hasn't really explained the problem, and he quickly backtracks. He says that everything was fine until a couple of weeks ago, training was happening as normal, but there was commotion towards the back of the labyrinth. Reports are hectic, and a couple of trianees were found critically injured. It seems like there are a few Pokemon in the dark that are hiding and ambushing when they can, but they're not sure exactly which Pokemon. All they know is they are apparently about waist height and have, from the ramblings of one of the injured trainers, a decent amount of white fur. How they got there is beyond them, as this is the only real entrance.
"That's all we knooow for the moooment, they keep hiding when I come around, however perhaps with some fresh faces, they may take the chance."
Eli scratches his chin in consternation. "I don't suppose you could tell us what kind of wounds the trainees were suffering from perchance? Slashes from claws, toothmarks from bites, or perhaps contusions? Were there any signs of burning or the smell of ozone where they were found, or perhaps shattered bits of rock, maybe some puddles of inexplicable water?"

Cecily clicks her mandibles, trying to think what sort of Pokémon might fit the description they've got so far. Waist-height, white fur, subterranean or at least not trying very hard to leave a cave...
She makes a quiet noise that is probably trying to approximate a snort that someone who has a nose would make. "The man runs the place, Eli. You don't have to list every option. Give him time to think." Yes, it's kind of rude, but Cecily's 'be on your best behavior' is slipping.
Tarkuul thinks as well, already trying to come up with strategies as she figured out which pokemon was down there. Going by the reports, they stuck to darkness, so perhaps light was harmful to their eyesight? In which case Eli's fire magic would be of great help to get a better look at them or to prevent an ambush. Typically Ground, Rock, or Steel pokemon would be found living in caves, though Dark types were an option, given their attack habits...Waist-high with white fur sounded more like an Absol, but as far as she knew they would be in forests. Of course, there were also some Ice-typed pokemon with white fur, but why in the world would they be anywhere near here?
She remained quiet as she thought, listening carefully to see if any other clues would key her in to exactly what they were dealing with.

"I can see quite well in the dark," Vaidos tries to add helpfully, his mechanical irises widening and constricting audibly for emphasis. "If it attempts to stalk us I may be able to identify it without it realizing it's been noticed."
Eli flushes slightly at Cecily's chastisement. "I was trying to narrow down the potential culprits. I mean, I'm not as learned on pokemon varieties as other people, so I wanted to make absolutely sure we had as much information as possible. Had a mission when I was a trainee that went really bad because we thought we were dealing with Fearow... and it turned out to be a flock of reanimated juvenile Aerodactyl." He fingers the amulet around his neck. "That's where I got this actually."
Post by carnackiArdent on Nov 30, 2016 15:20:41 GMT
"All right, sorry," Cecily mutters grudgingly. She doesn't sound very sorry, but then she's really not very good at apologizing. She's used to having to stand her ground to get taken seriously, even if she knows she was being rude. "Seriously though, Aerodactyl? You'd think someone with the knowhow to reanimate them would be able to keep them from getting loose."

Hi there! I'm Seya, a 24 y.o. editor in Atlantic Canada. I enjoy writing, reading, webcomics, art, worldbuilding, and video games (I can talk for ages about SotC and Monster Hunter...). Although I'm relatively new to playing Pokémon Tabletop via forum, I've been putting together sites like this for a long time, and I'm really excited to work with you all to create an awesome environment for Pokémon roleplay. While my job here is primarily to keep the site running smoothly, I'm always happy to chat, offer advice, and deal with any problems you run across. Let me know if I can be of any help. Inbox is always open! Cheers! xx :)
Hello! I'm Sly, the East Coast mod representative! I'm a 22 year old tax accountant who is exactly as exciting as that sounds, I'm sure. PTU is my major hobby, I run several games (of which the Geode games are my pet project), and I read a disgusting amount of fanfiction. I've been a member of the community for about a year, consider myself more GM material than player material, and am dedicated to helping make your time here enjoyable! If there's ever anything you need, don't be afraid to send me an owl! (Or a PM, I guess, if that works better for you.)
Hey there! I’m DataNinja, the West Coast representative. I'm the most active Staff member on here, so if you need something, try giving me a poke first, and I'll see if I can help sort out your problem. Always happy to help!
(1 May 2015): "For our first pack, we’re focusing on utility character options. Hopefully, this will give you both interesting insights into our dev process as we make changes over time and another focused avenue to give us feedback on what you’d like to see out of PTU."
People are out there, yes, but if you're looking for a game, sorry to say that things seem to be winding down overall. There's basically been... 3 games in the last 2 years, none of which got off the ground.

It's very slow, yes. You'll probably finish working on your game before one pops up here, and if you create a recruitment for it you can expect to be swarmed with applicants.

New games seem to open up slowly here, but if new people are still welcome, I don't mind waiting around (or working on my own). It looks like there's some useful stuff to browse in the meantime.

Keep an eye on the recruitment area of this website. They're rare nowadays, but any new games that crop up will show up there. If it's a live game you want though, you're outta luck.

Basically, GMs post recruitments in the appropriate section, and then players apply to the open games. Unfortunately, there has been a rather... small amount of games posted lately, but there's one currently recruiting right now.
