Since I had word that 3 people would leave the campaign, (reasons are PbP 2 slow, or just no time anymore), I am looking for 2 to 3 new players. I shall give a bit of info of the world. The World of Muevis (PDF with all info)
The world of Muevis is set in the medieval times. Pokémon trainers are rare there, and there is no contest for badges. While some Pokémon could be tamed, not all Pokémon were safe to capture. This however, changed around 147 years ago, when the first ones discovered the abilities of the Apricorns. They managed to craft Apricorn balls out of it. However, Apricorn Balls are expensive, and thus not many could afford it. While the craft of it is a hard one, and not many could master it with ease, there have appeared some good craftsmen. Eventually, some people began to use the balls for evil deeds.
While some began to use the balls for evil deeds, others began to use them to set a Pokémon hunting business up. Hunting for rare or dangerous Pokémons, and selling them to others. Several kings or queens got some rare ones this way.
Around 140 years ago, a Trainer’s guild has been set up in Amberosia. While this guild was small, they managed to get the trainers united in that place. Then they began to spread their influence over Ventus, and thanks to the Brood family, known over the entire world. The Trainer’s guild can now be found in all mayor cities world wide. Affiliated to no-one, and a neutral ground for trainers all over the world. Yet, the only way to enter the guild is going to Amberosia, where the main location of the guild exist.
The most common Pokémon people have, are dog, wolf and cat Pokémon. Also Milktanks and Mareeps are kept by farmers. Horse Pokémon are often used as transportation.
Thieves are easily recognized, by their cut fingers on their right hand. They lose 1 finger each time they are caught. The idea behind this, is that with less fingers, a thief has less chance to get away with theft, and thus discourage them.
While Slavery is not uncommon, slavery is forbidden in Ventus, Valdemar and Iftel. The trainers guild do not accept slavery, and thus will not accept people who keep slaves.
The most common race is the human race. They are widely spread all over the world. A lesser known race is the Beastmen. They only lived in Karse, where the guild could not get a hold till 18 to 16 years ago. Maria and Alec von Hohenheim managed to get contacts with Karse, and a guild enstabled there. Only somewhere in the last 4 years, Beastmen have started to wander around the world. It has created issues all over the world, with the guild trying to settle things. They didn’t venture to Ventus or Valdemar yet.
Deadline and other infoBasically, you have until 3th of August (18:00 CEST) to make your character. After that, we shall have some time selecting 3 new players. I am a bit relaxed when it comes to ruling, but will demand reasons for stuff. If you make your own specialty, if it is powerful, also give it drawbacks. Homebrew is allowed, but let me know it first. You will be trainers of the guild, trying to raise in rank, and uphold all the guild stand for. More info can be found here. There will be a ruling of critfails. This is, if your result is the lowest possible+half your skillrank, rounded down. For crits on skills, it is highest result possible, - half your skillrank. Aureus Lunae is already in it, as he was playing Melody von Hohemheim.

This looks like a fun world. Before I get too far into my character though I have two questions. 1) If we haven't should we read the posts up until now? I can see reasoning for both sides and would like to know your thoughts on it. 2) About how intelligent are pokemon? Is it a world where they're all generally humanish levels or does it losely correspond to the animal that they're based on/other factors?

Let me answer that for you. It might be a good idea to read quickly what the entrance test was about, if you are not joining from a crafting/supportive job for the guild. But as I know Kae, she will just give a small recap of latest events before the second chapter starts.
Pokemon seems to be more like animals in here, wildlife. Dangerous to a point, but also possible to train them. There might be some that are more intelligent than humans, as I just read in skype.
All training classes were banned before, as most before joining the guild, are hardly qualified as trainers, or would take time to do so. In the guild however, since we are now members, she allowed it to take it now.
Anyway, there is a very high possibility that you were from another group, and now get in a new group, or Melody get thrown in a new group.
Also, Changechildren, are originally from Karse. They are humans with beast features, like tails and ears, sometimes even with fur and claws. The world only knows 5 years about them. The first ones just started to appear openly in Ventus. They however, could have been there for a bit longer, and hid their nature.

And Aureus nails it a bit.
The Story so far Still, this year, you did met the Guild Master and entered the trail. You started with a group, but once you entered the door, you were alone. You do notice that you were in an alley of the city, with a man assaulting a 12 year old. If you helped the girl, she would either stab the man or you, depending on if you pushed the man away, attacked the man or grabbed him. If you Grabbed him, she would kill him. Else she would have attacked you.
Then, the scene disappeared and you entered the door to the second trial. There, you saw a dummy, and heard in your mind to attack it, both you and your Pokémon, to test your strength. After that, the scene disappeared again, and you meet the guildmaster. After that, you got the room you head to go to, and met your team and mentor. You went successfully out on your first mission, and fought some weaker Pokémon. When you returned, the guild was in an uproar. Quickly, you learn that Yvonne, the Guild Master's daughter, had been mortally wounded by an unknown enemy of the guild. A few days later, the chaos settled and several changes to teams have been made.
What you have learnt about that event, is that her brother came to fight with her, and the ones she had to judge sent back to spread the word. They managed to mortally wound him as well, and returned.

So should joining the guild and 1st mission be part of the backstory? and when you say we get a specialty instead of a feature that only applies to the 1st level training feature, correct? if so I can add a paragraph to the Backstory easily. Here's what it has so far if you wanna see beforehand. (And if you want me to change the starter or something just lemme know) Mercury Rose

So I'm gonna post interest here for sure. As far as a character I'm thinking of a Trickster, Ninja, Poison Ace. I'd flavor the poison ace stuff as more applying my knowledge of poisons to Pokemon then from experience with that type in particular if that's OK. As Starters go I would go with a curious Ghastly who saw me sneaking around the city and followed me for a good while before appearing for me and wanting to join me.

I do allow some homebrew, if you run it by me first. Anyway, for your questions. 13rett Your sheet looks good so far. But, if you want to add a bit about his reactions on his test, I can judge his personality a little better. Also, yes, it only applies to level 1 training feature. gameofchampionsIt is ok, just think of a specialty, or create one. That flavor would be a good one, and maybe your specialty can even be connected to poison type.

So a specialty I was thinking of was 'toxic knowledge' and it would allow him to teach either Poison Powder or Toxic to any poison type Pokemon capable of learning it.
Would that work?

Ok updated Mercury with the Trials and first team. With only a few too many references in the first team's members. And should I be using the Feb Playtest pokedex ot the core pokedex. I'm thinking i may want to change Stem's ability. (right now it's the one in both dex's)

OK here are the mechanics of Bast Telwyth! The sneaking ninja of Amberosia who turned to a life of training due to his love of poisonous Pokemon.

Hey, here to post interest. Probably going to go for a former Pokémon hunter who's currently taking part in the guild, mainly for a chance to explore the world with some backup. If I have any questions, I'll be sure to let you know.

I've got a mageknight type character in mind, a royal guard from a somewhat oppressed foreign nation who's become disillusioned with his country's politics and decided he'll have more freedom to do good for the common man by joining the Guild. Mechanically he's an Arcanist/Fortress, probably picking up Channeler as well in time. I'll probably just use the basic Human specialty to pick up Arcane Training, but might see if I can come up with something more unique.
Can we homebrew a more obscure race, or are Elves, Humans, and Changechildren the only available races?

I am very interested in this campaign. I was thinking of making a aura guardian type character but the personality type is not quite set in stone yet. Speaking of the Pokemon, exactly how do "starters" work here? Are they backstory related or is the guild in charge of discharging them. I'll will however began working on my character sheet.

twilightkiwiWhat race are you thinking off? If something like Dwarves, it would mostly be OK. Just let me know. As for an oppressed nation, you can go with Ruvan. I did not define the entire world fully, as to let players come with a possible background and design for those nations, or cities in there. @gemini The most common Pokémon people have, are dog, wolf and cat Pokémon. Also Milktanks and Mareeps are kept by farmers. Horse Pokémon are often used as transportation. They are not handed out by the guild, but they can be bought from hunting shops, or caught by yourself. This does not mean, it must be a dog, wolf, or cat Pokémon. Any is fine, as long as they are an underdog, and you give good reasons in your background for having that one. If you want one from Sage, your character must have visited Karse in the last 8 years, or parents who did visit it.

Do these Pokemon inherit egg moves of any kind for the player to decide or do the gm have to roll for them?

OK I finished Bast Telwyth fluff and all. The only thing I need an answer on is the specialty thing. Like I said I was going to go with 'Toxic Knowledge' which lets me teach the moves Toxic and Poison Powder to Poisonous Pokemon that can learn them for the cost of two tutor points. I just need to know if that's OK and also if it is OK that I have taught Toxic to my Gastly by this point? I thought the specialty would work just cause I have knowledge of poisonous stuff through Ninja and know the move Poison Powder myself and would also work well with my interest of Poison types.
