"If a Professor can't take of the pokemon they shouldn't be requesting them and will get fined for any negligence." Marcus responds, frowning as he struggles to remember something. "Besides, I think there'll be a trend away from the PC storage system soon anyway. They still haven't patched the exploit that Team Plasma discovered, and that was years ago.If Team Snag make a comeback it'll be by misusing the storage system and not using snag balls. Easier to cover up, less danger for operatives and easy scouting." He pauses and turns to Seth. "Anyway, what sort of job are you looking at? It's pretty rare to meet a traveling trainer that has career goals."

Seth took a second to make sure he said this next thing properly. "I don't truly know. I be normally a test su... assistant for the organization. We work to restore habitats for wild Pokemon. I'd imagine it be much the same." Seth answered not wanting to say more then he have to.

"Habitat restoration? I wasn't aware there was any deforestation or significant pollution in the region, though I'll admit I haven't looked much into the issue." Marcus says. "As I said I'm here to study the region's advanced technology. Apparently Platinum City made use of an energy shield during the recent crisis to protect itself. I hope that I can examine the mechanism and make use of it in my own experiments." He continues, divulging his motivation for coming to the region.

Mae seems to snap out of whatever funk she was in, and finally clues in that the other two have begun talking. She feels like she should add something to the conversation, but decides to not press her luck any further. She'll take the solace she's probably gotten them to re-think over-capturing in the future and sit quietly, not wishing to get thrown out of the vehicle.

Seth took quite a bit of interests in the Platinum City thing. This also gave Seth a great idea. "Marcus I have a proposition for yee. I be heading to Argent City I'd be happy if you join me. I don't like the idea of just letting you go off on your own. I could be sort of a ...bodyguard. I'm not doubting your survival skill but it be better to go together. Who knows there might even be a job opening for yee." Seth siad hoping more for someone to talk to on his way to Argent City. He also was hoping that Marcus could help figure out something.

Mae looks from behind Sync at Seth trying rather quickly to recruit Marcus... or maybe the other way around. She -mentally- scoffs at the idea of this. After all, they've both had minutes of interaction, who'd go for that?

"I'm not against traveling together. After all, safety is best found in numbers." Marcus says, looking at Seth before glancing at Mae. "But I am not looking for work and I can't pay you, so bodyguard would be a bit of a misnomer. So if you can live without monetary recompense, I would appreciate the company.

"That be fine. I'm not greedy. Anyway I'd be quite happy for company as well." Seth said still not quite sure o how to go about this. Seth looks over to Mae and comes to a sad conclusion. "You be quite hard to work with but little lady I can't help but ask. Yee say your going to take on the league with only one Pokemon. Tell me this how do yee expect to get from town to town? Your Porygon may be nice but alone you can only get so far." Seth stated hoping she had a answer that wasn't "I can handle myself.". Seth knew that with her burning passion for her ideals and her young age she could get into dangerous trouble or worse manipulated by someone.

Mae looks back up, wondering how she hasn't gotten them to shun her yet, with their earlier reactions. She thinks for a moment, before looking back to Seth.
"Truth be told I haven't considered how it'd be from town to town. Mostly because I don't know the landscape at all. Are there clear paths to take everywhere that aren't overrun with wilds? Is the nation a seething mass of criminals? Do trainers attack at any opportunity, hoping to use you as a stepping stone for strength? These things I do not know. But... I'm adaptable. Repels on wilds, finding groups of trainers to follow, giving Sync something to help resist attacks even more than a Porygon normally can. There are options."
She looks out the window.
"I'll find a way."

Seth was happy that despite how she came off originally she does have common scenes. "Now I'll offer you this you can come along with Marcus and I. I don't know the gym layout but if your heading the same way this would be much easier. You don't seem the type to make many mates so well ... You'd be better off going with us then trying to push your ideals onto another group." Seth stated. Seth didn't like her personality, but to him it's only right to be the better person.

"I think you'll find it the other way around, as I can easily be learned from... but if you insist..."
I mean... Seth isn't wrong. About a few of those things.

"I'm always happy to learn." Marcus says. "Just don't expect much change. Humans are notorious for despising it."

Seth turned in his seat to hide the fact that he was so close to laughing. "This girl can't be that stupid. I can't allow this dangerous thinking to continue. What could have made her like this. I've been bullied, left to die in the ocean, and have amnesia linked to the first ten years of my life and I'm still nicer then her."Seth thought to himself.

Nathaniel stayed silent throughout the exchange, keeping his eyes glued to the road. The only change during the dialogue was when Marcus briefly threatened to loose his Elekid on the van, and although he glanced in the rear view mirror with extreme concern, he didn't say anything, and when Marcus calmed down, Nathaniel breathed an audible sigh of relief. Once the conversation ended, seconds blurred into minutes, blurring into hours. Those tired from the plane trip will likely fall asleep as the terrain flashes by. Those fighting to stay awake are regaled by Nathaniel's small talk. He invariably steers the topic of conversation to his daughter, whom he is clearly very proud of. "She's a young trainer like you three, you know!"
At last, those of you asleep are suddenly jarred awake by the slowing, then stop of the van. It is nearly dusk as you arrive. As you look out the window at the small town, the first thing you notice is the massive hill dwarfing the village to the northwest. Secondly, you spot the large building Nathaniel has parked near, built nearly flush against the rock face. It has the league's emblem on it, and all the lights in the building appear to be on. Most noticeably, a massive black scorch mark has marred the side of the structure, and a young man is on a ladder painting over it.
As the vehicle idles a moment as everyone has that brief moment of lag people get after being still a long period of time before moving again, the man spots you, and begins to descend down the ladder. As he does so, a sound of a thunderclap can be heard from inside the lab, as well as angry shouting.

Mae is jarred awake, still very groggy. Sleeping inside a moving vehicle never sit well with her. Sync is wide awake in moments, and is already floating above her one more. It manages to get the door open for her, and she stumbles out, still rubbing her eyes.
"Thank you for the ride, Sir."
Although I think after our conversation he might prefer shipping things rather than people.
That's when she finally catches sight of the slightly singed building and the man walking toward her. And then there's the large BOOM. She goes around the car to the approaching man, Sync falling in behind her. She raises and eyebrow and nods toward the building.
"We were supposed to come here to meet the professor... but it seems that everyone is 'pre-occupied'."

Marcus exits easily, nodding to Nathaniel and raising an eyebrow at the scorch mark before grinning at the sound of the thunderclap, a spark of enthusiasm shinning in his eye.. "No sense in waiting." He says, striding towards the entrance. "After all, the quicker we get this sorted out, the quicker we can get started."

As you exit the van, Nathaniel smiles, waves, and wishes you good luck. As the last of the doors are shutting, you can hear " Hey baby! I just got to Cadet Town. I missed yo-" The boy on the ladder climbs down and walks over briskly. He's tall and athletic, and you'd peg him around 18 or so. "Hey! You must be the latest trainers from Platinum City airport! Welcome!" He wipes his brow, unknowingly smudging paint from his hand all over his forehead, before extending it to shake your hands. "I'm Tyler, Professor Mondrian's son."
He seems relatively unfazed by the thunderous noise from the lab and the shouting, which repeats itself every ten seconds or so(but in a different way each time, so it isn't on a loop).

"Marcus Septimia Geta. What's going on inside?" Marcus says, shaking Tyler's hand and listening intently to the noise.

Mae looks to the hand before looking back up to him.
"You may want to wipe off your hands before a proper greeting."
She looks past him to give him a chance to do just that.
"It's 'extremely' concerning you aren't addressing that behind you."

In response to Mai's first comment, he looks at his hands, wipes them on his shirt, and shrugs as though 'Eh, good enough,' but doesn't try to shake a second time. " Oh, that's just Thounder. He makes an awful racket every time we have guests, and my father has a love/hate relationship with him." Tyler says with a smirk. "Come on, let's get you introduced to my dad. It's about time I get wrapped up here anyway." He leads you to the front door, and right as he's about to open it, an audible thud like something bullrushed the door is heard, followed by a short cacophony of excited rumblings. He opens the door, and a canine pokemon you've never seen before nearly bowls him over, sniffing curiously at you. Tyler scratches behind his ears, trailing wet paint across the hound's head. Thounder seems oblivious, clearly craving his master's attention, seemingly indifferent already to the new guests. The lab itself is abuzz. A television set in the front, set to the evening news, is telling the story of a family in Downpipe City that adopted a baby Psyduck who they'd rescued from a storm grate sinkhole, who had rapidly become part of the family. Several assistants are studying topographical maps of the region displayed on a variety of monitors on the walls, with colored patterns swirling in loops overlaid on the maps. (Make a Tech Edu roll to decipher their purpose). In the back of the room, in front of an ornate white table, the source of the hollering you heard earlier is revealed. A scholarly looking gentleman in a lab coat, flanked by two assistants, turns to regard you. Bespectacled, the professor has short black hair and a salt and pepper beard. (Make a Perception Check) " Good evening children. I'm glad you made it safely. I'm Professor Mondrian."
