Right, after looking up an 'official' timeline, it looks like Black and White 2 and X and Y took place around the same time, with everything else before that. So we'll put the events of Red and Blue the furthest back, 25 years before the current time

Alright, I'll get my fluff out later today, but for now I'm posting my finished crunch. Here's Luke Towers, my not so average Normal Ace.

Alright! Here's my character! Jack Roberts the Pokemon EnthusiastAlso, because I have this habit for writing small novellas in a single excel cell...backstory in the spoiler below. Jack Roberts, born and raised in Nuvema Town, has lived a very peaceful, normal life. Growing up in the peace that followed the apparent destruction of Team Plasma, Jack has enjoyed propserous, carefree childhood. When he was growing up he was told the old Unovan legends, about the splitting Dragons and the warring princes, and the great wildfire and the Swords of Justice. Jack paid extra attention to stories that had to do with pokemon, and his parents took notice of Jack's great interest in pokemon. He loved to play with the neighbors' pokemon whenever he could.
Around Jack's eighth birthday, Professor Samuel Oak was making a trip to the Unova region to be the keynote speaker in a seminar with Professor Juniper about the particular types of pokemon found in the Unova region and their different adaptations and effects on the environment and, of all things, Jack asked to go see it for his birthday. Surprised, his parents nonetheless got tickets, and on the day of the seminar they made their way to Castelia City. The seminar was very...dry...and clearly not geared towards children. Jack's parents struggled through it, but Jack absolutely ate it up. Professor Oak ended his speech calling to mind the special relationship between the legendary pokemon of the Unova region and their own history, and the impact that what those pokemon stood for had on the people of Unova and their beliefs. As he wrapped up the speech, Jack clapped along with the rest of the people, stirring his drowsy parents, and asked if he could go say hi to the famous Pokemon Professor.
So his dad took him by the hand to see if they could talk to the Professor. There was a long group of people waiting in line to talk with the professor and discuss points of his speech, but eventually Jack and his father made his way up to the grandfatherly Professor. Professor Oak had a surprised look on his face, but it gradually changed to a pleased grin as Jack's father explained why they were there. Jack was beaming from ear to ear, though he was a bit shy and kept staring at his feet whenever the Professor would look at him.
Professor Oak knelt down next to Jack, putting a hand on shoulder and asked what Jack thought of the speech, and if he had listened to the whole thing. Jack said yes, and made a particularly insightful point about respecting the freedoms and opinions of others, like the two princes came to do after their dragons split. Jack's comments surprised both Professor Oak and Jack's father, who thought he just liked the stories because of the pokemon in it. Jack and Professor Oak spent the next hour or so in conversation, with his father sitting by with a mixture of surprise and pride. Oak asked questions, gauging Jack's responses, and Jack asked a few questions of his own, some simple, some more complicated. No matter how complicated the answers, though, he always paid close attention and made sure he understood the answer. Eventually, after quite some time, the smiling Professor Oak said he had a "special present" to give Jack for his birthday, if it was alright with his father. Jack's father assumed what it was, and agreed, saying he thought it would be a good idea. The Pokemon Professor asked them to wait there for a moment and got up, heading backstage. After a few moments he returned holding a yellow egg with a black bottom.
Professor Oak explained that the it was an egg of a "very special" pokemon, and wanted to know if Jack would take "extra special care" of it for him. Jack immediately looked to his father, who gave him a smile and an approving nod. With his parents permission, Jack eagerly agreed, promising to take good care of the egg, and the pokemon once it hatched. Professor Oak handed him the egg with a warm smile, and Jack gingerly accepted it, cradling it carefully. With the evening nearly at an end, Jack and Professor Oak said their goodbyes, exchanged contact information, and went their separate ways.
On the way home, Jack energetically explained to his mother what had happened, and all they had talked about, and the 'very special' egg that he had to take care of for THE Professor Oak. His mother returned his enthusiasm, telling him that hatching the egg would be a big responsibility! Over the next several days, Jack was utterly inseparable from the egg. He looked up how to care for it and did everything he could think of to nurture and protect the egg. Then, on the fourth day, it hatched into a little baby Pichu. Jack eagerly looked up the species of pokemon, and decided to name the small pokemon Bolt. The very next thing he did was to get on the video phone and call Professor Oak. The Professor congratulated him on successfully hatching the egg, and told him that 'Bolt' was now his pokemon, and it would be his job to figure out what was so special about Bolt, and let him know once he'd figured it out. In fact, the Professor wanted monthly updates on his progress!
Over the next five years, Jack spent a great deal of his free time with Bolt. Whether it was playing with the pokemon, taking care of it, or studying it to try and determine what made it special. As Jack and Bolt grew, the methods he used to examine his pokemon became more and more complex, but try as he might, he simply couldn't figure out what made the little pokemon special. Shortly after his thirteenth birthday, Jack became fed up. He had exhausted every test, everything that Professor Oak had told him...but it all pointed to the same thing. Bolt was just a normal Pichu. At first he felt angry, wondering why Professor Oak had lied to him all these years, and why he had believed it, but as he sat and dwelled on it, thinking more about Bolt and everything that he had learned while studying him, living with him, and playing with him...and it struck him, ironically, like a thunderbolt.
Yes, Bolt was "just a normal Pichu"...but he was special. Or rather, all Pichu, no, all pokemon were. They were all living creatures, each a unique, precious life...and special, in their own way. Jack shared his new 'discovery' with Professor Oak, and the Professor was very pleased by Jack's insight. He further elaborated that Pokemon were not simply tools to be used in battle, but they were our friends and companions, and worthy of our respect as equals. Jack agreed wholeheartedly with the Professor, having come to appreciate the lesson he had learned. The pair talked for a while, Professor Oak asking Jack what he planned to do now. Jack hadn't really thought of that, and he didn't have a ready answer. His last five years had been spent figuring out what made Bolt special...but now, he didn't really have a goal in mind.
He thought about it for a long while, but eventually a thought came to him. Recently he and Bolt had been going to the Tournament of Heroes that had started up during the last three years, and Bolt seemed to get more and more eager each time they watched a match. Eventually Jack suggested the possibility of becoming a licensed Trainer. Professor Oak said that sounded like a good idea, though he would have to wait a few years in order to be eligible. Jack decided to commit himself to that.
Over the next two years, Jack learned everything he could about pokemon training, travelling, and so forth. While he couldn't battle and train...he could learn. And so, finally, when the day of his fifteenth birthday arrived, Jack applied for his Trainer License, and with License in hand, enrolled in that year's Tournament of Heroes. As the day of the tournament approached, Jack's anticipation built as he and Bolt practiced and prepared, hoping they would be ready for the tournament...

I'm not done yet, but I think I've settled on the mechanics of this, so I can let you know what I'm thinking of playing. Here's Aisling. I will write her descriptions in the near future, but the general idea is a seemingly unassuming bookworm with some hidden 'dark' depth. Just got a question: Is it ok to get a book to begin with? And to confirm, is their cost 1000 Pyen as the playtest suggests?

Missed the question! Yes books are ok and 1000
Which leads me into the next thing. Remember to join the Skype Chat linked in the first post. It's important to know how everyone will gel as people, as well as their characters and you can also ask me questions and get your answers a bit quicker

If recruitment is still going, consider me interested. I've got some character ideas that I'd love to try here.

Since Tag Scribe doesn't cost any money to use, could I make a couple of Cleanse Tags to add to my inventory? (Perhaps one days' worth of crafting, since I think that's what the dowsing rod was allowed)?

Phew. Nearly missed this while I was dawdling with character ideas - love how it turned out though (though I'll be missing my sleep tomorrow morning >.<) Azrael HimlenAzrael Himlen FluffFew things worth noting: If it's alright to use Heat Wave as an egg move for Fletchling (it's in the tutor move list), than I'll probably go with that (per the playtest, it'd be irrelevant until it was evolving into a Talonflame at level 30 anyway). Otherwise, I'll probably rewrite Aethon into a Pidgey (it'd be a one-word edit), and use the current draft statblock under Pokemon Template. I'm also looking to add some fluff to Aethon in terms of personality in the next day or two, as it feels really wasteful to not build up that opportunity for characterization. I'll probably have some edits and expansions on various aspects of Azrael's personality and background as well, and I'll make sure to note those (well, anything beyond typo-obliteration. None may know). PS: As I mentioned previously in the Skype chat, I'm totally new to the system, so I'd openly welcome commentary and advice (some of it may be ignored in the name of characterization, but it'd be appreciated nonetheless). For the same reason, some stuff may be slightly borked - I noticed literally two minutes before posting that Ravager Orders requires Expert Command, and narrowly saved myself from that derp.

Under the three hour wire! Meet Anyu Kuryakin, a junior ice skater wanting to make his dad proud but is actually more suited to become a Pokémon trainer than a Contester. To see how far can he go and to improve his Pokémon Anyu travels to Nuvema Town to participate in the Ember of Truth competition.

This was a really really tough decision, there were so many apps that I wanted to let in, but sadly I can't handle a game with 19 players
But, you all did force me to push my self from 3 players to 4, so I hope you feel proud.
Without further ado, the accepted applicants
Dark Shadow with Dave Dyson
Harbringer of Insanity with Luke Towers
JPThunda with Jack Roberts
And Strigo with Azrael Himlen
Please don't take not being accepted as a personal attack on your apps, I really did like them but I am only human and can only handle so many players
