Congratulations, Recruit, on your new rank as a Junior Technician of the City of Arcadia. Please review all of the standard procedures, and ensure that you are in presentable form, before reporting to Captain Vincent Cain for assignment to your new team. There you will be assigned an appropriate Pokémon partner based on your answers to the questionnaire – so we hope that you filled that out honestly – as well as time to get to know your team. We have put trust in you, Technician, to provide safety and security to Arcadia. Never forget your duty.
-Message given to the Recruits after completing training.
Technicians are essentially the major problem solvers in the city of Arcadia. At their core, they’re a cross between police, investigators, rangers, and sometimes mechanics. If there’s anything going on that’s adversely affecting large numbers of citizens, they’ll be there. You wouldn’t call a Technician to deal with a single robbery – most districts have their own volunteer law enforcement groups for small stuff like that – or a water leak. Instead, they deal with crime rings, are sent to repair vital equipment in hazardous environments, and – perhaps most importantly – deal with the Pokémon that come from the depths of the Under.
Here's the information that you want to read up on concerning Arcadia: Arcadian Information Packet
Game Style Information
In this game, you will be taking on the role of one of these Technicians, somewhere in your early-to-mid adulthood, just having made your way through Recruit Training. The game will be primarily mission based, with your team being assigned a goal at the beginning of each segment, given a budget to requisition equipment with, and then set loose. Both combat and non-combat scenarios will be presented throughout the game. Advancement and reward will take place primarily at the end of these missions. Tone will be... hopefully a mix of serious, with some lighter elements injected. But part of the direction will be determined by the PCs.
Initially you will only begin with a single Pokémon, though more will be obtained as you gain higher in levels. Though catching will remain a core part of this game, it will not be the method that you obtain most of your team. So, be sure to utilize your wishlist judiciously, and fill it out entirely, as that is where I will be drawing much of your future team from. Just, ensure that you don’t just choose all pseudo-legends. Otherwise I’ll be giving you a team of Everstone-infused Magikarps.
I’ll be expecting a post from everyone involved at least once every two days. I do understand sometimes unforeseen circumstances can come up, but I’d like to try and stick to this. So please consider if you'll be able to post consistently before applying.
Character Creation
You will begin:
-at a Trainer Level of 5.
-with one Level 20 Pokémon (Underdog/evolution of an Underdog, non-pseudo legendary)
-with one Egg Move to use on it
-with one Item of worth up to $5000, excluding TMs. Preferably with some significance to your character. If you wish an evolved Pokémon that uses an evolutionary item at the start, this item must be used for that. (i.e. Stone, etc.)
-Skill backgrounds for Pokémon will be permitted, with a maximum of one skill lowered, to raise one skill. Make sure it makes sense thematically.
We will be using, in addition to the Core book:
-Game of Throhs (Elementalist, Fortress, Berserker, Skirmisher, and Marksman classes.)
-Do Porygon Dream of Mareep (Modern and Robotic Age Gear, Pokéball Cases, Future Drugs and Medicine, Weapons and Combat Gear. Pokébots and Augmentation may make limited appearances later on.)
-May Playtest Packet (All)
-September Playtest Packet (All except: Capture Mechanics, Mixed Power requires attack and Special Attack to be within 3 Points of each other.)
Core Restrictions:
-Telepath and Warper are banned (though, as a warning, they may show up as NPCs).
-Channeler is banned.
-Survivalist is banned (Not enough terrain variety).
-Pokémaniac is banned (Not enough information on Pokémon).
-The Porygon and Rotom lines are banned (for plot reasons).
Narrative Notes:
-On Pokémon: In this world, when Pokémon faint, they instead disperse into energy, which quickly dissipates. Fortunately, if they are attuned to a Pokéball then that ball will recapture their energy, where they remain until healed. If they aren’t, then they simply vanish. Mechanically, this means that a fainted Pokémon requires no action to return to a ball (though switching still does). It is also why you aren’t able to knock out a Pokémon, wait for it to wake, and then capture it. I’m nipping that in the bud.
-On being a Supernatural Class: While, in actuality, Supernaturals make up a not-insignificant portion of the population, especially as you descend further into the depths of Arcadia, most wisely stay hidden, because any overt display of power will be met at best with fear, at worst with lynching.
-Please answer the sample portion of the Technician Questionnaire below, in character, with your application. Both to help me get a sense of character, and to prove that you actually read all of this. There are no wrong answers to this. At the very least, consider it worldbuilding. They don't need to be long, though.
-If I come up with more, I’ll put them here.

Deadline information:
Applications will be open until Midnight May the 8th. In order to be considered, you must have given me your Skype contact information, whether via PM or otherwise, and been added to the Skype chat.
After applications close, there will be a further period of time, probably 1-2 weeks, in which to finalize any errors with your applications. In addition, during that time, I will be trying to interact with each of you, as well as find out possible group chemistry. Due to this, I encourage applicants to interact with each other as much as possible, so as to help me make decisions.
