The journey to Floral Fields is relatively peaceful, all things considered. You notice a few Pokemon heading the other way, but they seem to be civilised (though whether they were previously ferals is anyone's guess). After a few hours' walking, you arrive at Floral Fields. Which, as the name might suggest, is a field of very pretty-looking flowers in various shades of red and purple. Not that you'd know it was a Mystery Dungeon if you didn't have your Exploration Gadgets telling you, which is probably why a very hastily-set-up assortment of signs surrounds the field, which read 'Warning! Mystery Dungeon!' or variations thereof. The Metang who put in the request in the first place is a short distance away, hammering another such sign into the ground, and having not appeared to notice you. OOCBecause I derped and forgot to mention this; the Flower Basket is on Floor 4 of the Dungeon, while Pansage is on Floor 3.

Lewis approached the Metang, in what he hoped was a businesslike gait.
"Hello, we're here to respond to your request to rescue Mister Pansage, and we were hoping you might have additional information?"

Kyria didn't really keep her thoughts to herself, groaning and mumbling over deerling not following them along the way, although she understands it'll be dangerous here she was concerned for what the townsfolk with do to her and her safety with them, they clearly dislike her. But now that they arrived she just looks around, so many colors, she just stares at all the flowers trying to get used to the new scenery.

Lewis hated the smell of salt in the afternoon, it smelled of annoyance. He suffered his team mates grunts and groans for a good hour, then turned around and gave her a deadpan glare. "Good Goat, Mawile, calm down. I get that you're worried about how the people received Deerling, but she's fine. She has the support of the Mayor, her son, and probably Guildmaster Snorlax. Torches and pitchforks are not a concern yet."

Melanie's low voice very quietly hums an old work song as they proceed toward the Floral Field, mostly to encourage her own feet to keep pace... and maybe to help ignore Mawile's grumbling. She isn't thrilled about the dungeon location, since it looks like it might attract a lot of Grass-types, but hey, if there are Pokémon that need their help she's not going to say no. Besides, she does have to admit that it's pretty.
Even if Metang isn't willing to delve into the dungeon, they seem like a helpful sort. Melanie wonders vaguely if the Steel-type is responsible for the sign outside the Sandy Plains, too. She leans on her staff as Eevee approaches them, letting him do the talking, at least for now.

Virgil tries to ignore Kyria's complaints. And certainly doesn't add his own after Eevee's outburst. He might be tired but he really didn't want to be snapped at.
Once they arrived at the field, Virgil could just barely help smelling the flowers. He can still remember the one that had torched Joltik so he holds off for now. "Errr..yea! Did any ferals find their way out of this Dungeon too?"

The Metang jolts about two metres in the air when Lewis speaks, dropping the sign. Apparently he didn't see or hear you approaching. Somehow. "Yikes!" He recovers after a moment or two. "Oh, you don't look like ferals. Are you the explorers?" He looks down at the four of you, which isn't hard considering he's floating way up in the air. "I was expecting you to be bigger."

I assure you sir, we are more than up to the task. Now as I was asking before, do you have any additional details before we head into the dungeon?

"Of course!" Virgil says indignantly. Couldn't Metang see that they looked so Explorery? Hopefully he would answer their questions now that he wasn't clanging another sign into the ground. He's still miffed as he asks, "And did feral ferals attack here too?"

Melanie puts a hand on what passes for Spoink's shoulder. "I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it. We aren't exactly imposing."
She glances up at Metang and gestures back at Eevee. At least he'd reacted professionally. "Like the Eevee says. We're up to it."

Kyria is still examining the landscape and area as if trying to figure out what they'll be encountering. She looks over at the group again and lets Lewis do the talking for them.

"Well, yes, ferals attacked here too." The Metang seems slightly irritated by the question. "Grew up out of the fields like they were flowers themselves, chased most of us back to the village." He nods, or at least bobs slightly, to the continuation of the path you followed to get here, where a small selection of buildings are just about visible on the horizon. "Pansage was closer to the centre of the field itself. She just got...swallowed up. When is this dungeon going to go away?" he asks, tone somewhat petulant. "That's our livelihood there!"

"I'm sorry, but there's no way of knowing that. I hate to say it but you might have to start fresh elsewhere. I'll try and collect as many different flowers for you to replant as I can. In the mean time, you may want to think about temporary fallback careers"

More to supplement Eevee's explanation than anything, Melanie added, "There's a lot we still don't know. It may be a while before things are back to normal. If they ever are."
She could probably have stood to leave that last part off, but Metang's coming off as a little petulant to her, even though she knows he's got every right to be concerned. From where she's standing, he's lucky to be relatively close to one of the most active Guildhouses still functioning, so that he has someone to complain to.

Virgil tries to backtrack a little bit from Eevee's statement. After all, something like this popping up would be a bitter pill to swallow. "Errr...maybe the whole field isn't part of the dungeon," he says hopefully, "Maybe it isn't as bad as it seems."
He shakes his head and looks at the field again, "Anyway. We can get Pansage out of there without any problems...probably"

Metang gives Lewis a look that seems torn between disbelief and anger. "Start fresh elsewhere? Fallback careers? Most of us have worked here all our lives! Generations, in some cases! The flowers of Rose Village are famed throughout, er...most of the land! Or at least a large portion of it! If you want to tell the entire village that they need to up sticks and move, you tell them. Hmph."
He turns away from you and starts hammering his sign in again angrily, replying to Virgil after a couple of moments. "And no, it's the whole field. We tested it."

Lewis frowned at Metang's remark. He wasn't wrong. " I will if you need me to, Metang, but the fact remains that Flower Fields is not safe anymore. I can't imagine what you and your neighbors must be going through right now, but I promise that we will do whatever we can to help. Just please, remember that the world is...changing, becoming a more dangerous place again, and we as a civilization will have to adapt." Charm check to calm down Metang pz6N6BNm3d6

"Oh..." Virgil says on hearing the field's condition. Well there went that hope. "Yea we'll do what we can. Starting with helping Simisage right?" He was kind of trying to steer Eevee away from Metang. He was doing pretty well at putting his paw in his mouth.

"Pansage," Melanie says gently, intending it as a correction for Spoink. Then she looks back up at Metang. "And a flower basket, right? Anything else important we should know?" She doesn't know if Metang would know anything useful, as chaotic as everything that happened was - they really need a name for the whole event - but every little bit helps.

"No," Metang replies shortly to Melanie, seemingly ignoring Lewis. "There shouldn't be anything else I need to tell you, should there?" he asks after a moment, sounding a little less angry and more worried.
