Ceres is my homebrew region not far away from Hoenn (you can see the highest point of each from the highest point of the other).
Petalite Industries is a large corporation that got its start in fashon but now runs most areas of commerce and industry in Ceres.
Every year they encourage new trainers to start out with fairs that travel the towns.
One such fair recently passed through Amberleaf Town, and 4 young trainers were sent along on their journey to defeat the gyms and challenge the Pokémon league. Of course it hasn’t been as easy as they had hoped…
We are looking to recruit another player to join the game. We have 4 players currently who will be detailed below, but one has had to leave temporarily and another may have to disappear for a month. I’d rather see if I can recruit a 5th player so we can continue even if we drop down to 3 including the new person (which is the lowest number I’ll run with). PbP has proved to be much easier for me to handle so I’m quite confident I could keep things running relatively smoothly even with everyone back and a party of 5.

Applicants
I’m closing applications for our new member Saturday 23rd April at 9pm WEST. Following that I will discuss with the current available members on who would most suit the party.
The first while of this game can be read on PTF here but this game will be running on the pokemonbypost forums. I’d prefer you read the old stuff before we moved there to avoid imminent spoilers. I’m sure we’ll catch you up in and out of character though and there’s no requirement to read the archives.
You are all invited to add me on skype username ken.is.me, so we can set up a recruitment chat between you guys and the current players. We use Skype heavily for OOC chat and keeping things moving so you'll be needing to add me eventually anyway.

Ceres Region
Ceres is a small island region about the same size as Hoenn, and not far from it either. It features a prominent pyramidal peak mountain to the East and a forest which spans most of the south of the island. In the West is a slowly growing desert spreading out from a volcano. The island is north of the equator, meaning the southern sun rarely touches the northern face of Mt. Cuspis, leaving a large snowy area.
This game is essentially the same setting wise as any of the video games, though some of the technology is advancing and I do have a more fantasy arc in mind to occur during your travels.
A somewhat interactive map of the region can be found here.
Yes I know the routes seem somewhat random, they were numbered starting at petalite city going outwards and got somewhat all over the place later on.
For a more geographical map that is sadly not to the same scale you can look here: Ceres Geographical Map

About Me
I have been running this game for about 4 months and have actually run this setting once before, over a year ago during 1.04. I’ve been on the PTF forums for about 6 months and am in 2 games on the PbP forums. The first time I ran this was RT with friends I recruited to it from facebook. The game didn't get very far until a load of scheduling problems came up, and the spark of creativity that I'd been running on was gone by the time all those cleared up. Since joining these forums and catching up on 1.05 I've been reading other games and getting things ready to run this setting again. I have run 3 games over the last 3 years, though only one Pokémon. I have also been roleplaying on at least a one game a week basis over the last 5 years, primarily with Fantasy Flight Games' Warhammer 40k settings.
Current Characters
So our current line-up is:
Adrianne Mossgrove: daughter of an ex-elite four member who wants to study as many Pokèmon as possible.
Conner MacCloud: son of a Rancher and outdoorsman in his own right.
Danny Sexbang: the young musician turning his life up to 11 (out of a possible 5).
Zachary: orphan and chef extrordinaire with a raging temper.

Your Character
I am looking for a player to join the party in the central Petalite City. You will also be 14-16 years old. We’ll sort out how you are going to meet everyone the first while, if things go to plan it shouldn’t take long after the end of apps for the party to reach the city itself.
You may have any non-supernatural core classes. You may also have the Jailbreaker, Gadgeteer or Engineer research branch and can take the Quick Case or Pokébot Training edge if it is of use to you, and playtest classes and branches. If you take Engineer you will also have access to Upgrader for free(without an extra researcher slot), however, robotics is only just becoming advanced enough to be used, and they haven't reached the same level with implants, so the implants that upgrader can make will only be usable as components for Pokébots.
In fact all of the playtests are in effect, with the exception of the new catching equation rules. This includes the February test.
You start at trainer level 5: this is from 0 milestones, 10 TEXP and 34 Dex exp which is shared across the party. I’ll put the caught Pokémon list below with the current caught Pokémon. You’ll start with 4 Pokémon level 12. All but 1 of these must be an underdog, all of them must have at least one remaining evolution and at most 2 can be rock type but no dragon, steel or ghost types. You may distribute 3 egg moves across these Pokémon. They can be already learnt if they would be legal as per the September playtest at level 1, otherwise they will be learnt at level 30. These must follow the guidelines set by the september playtest AFTER STAB.
If a starter would evolve by the time it's level 12, as long as it's still an underdog then it is all good. (So basically the cocoon bugs.)
You will be given starting packs containing: 1 Pokédex, 5 Pokéballs, 2 Great Balls, 5 Potions and 1 Sleeping Bag. You will also have a Tent big enough for everyone.
You will have a further $4000 to spend. Due to a local shops, all balls except Master Ball can be considered available. No TMs over $1500.
If you are starting as an engineer you may have a Pokébot in place of one of your Pokémon. You get $2000 to spend on it, and you may spend extra from your starting funds. HOWEVER, the Pokébot may not be given the Reinforced Steel upgrade. It will start at level 12 alongside your Pokémon.
Please use the Moltress sheet available here for designing your characters and link them when you post.
The following classes, edges and features will be available later on during gameplay, based on certain locations:
Weapon of Choice
Smith
Berserker
Fortress
Marksman
Skirmisher
Ninja
None of the Blessed and the Damned stuff either, although I -may- have some plot planned which uses it and when that comes up there may be a possiblity of allowing some parts of it for trainers. Really not sure if I will though and I'll need to consider how it will affect the power of the trainers when it comes down to that.
I am unsure but may allow Hex Maniac or Sage as well.
And yes I very purposefully have not included type sync because I'm not allowing players to use it. Do expect to see some syncs of my own show up throughout the game though. This includes that all Eeveelutions in Do Porygon Dream of Mareep are available, though the flying type has been renamed to 'Aveon', and their existence is known already.

Weapons
In towns, weapons cannot be carried openly, they must be stored away in a bag. They are allowed to be used in routes. It should also be noted that they are not typically sold often, and you are more likely to find people using sports equipment like bats or on some occasions even just using frying pans. You may only buy crude, improvised sorts of weapons at the start for €500. You may come across others later with prices and availability varying wildly.
