Christ, that thing and Joe were meant for each other. Not to say his other choices hadn't been, but Bonsly in particular with it's wailing and sobbing. I wonder if he cried when they... Cecil's pained expression softened as he fished another Pokeball from his pocket. This whole run was starting to get expensive, and they were getting away with Bunnie. Fuck me, I'm feeling bad for Joe Vargas.

"Hazel, I could use some help over here!" Kat hollers. The Buneary's ears lift, and she quickly attempts to slam the wounded Stunky over the head. The hit craters the muddy ground, and the skunk pokemon lets out a hiss like escaping gas as it's forcibly removed from consciousness.
Kat, seeing how little damage is being done to the Grimer, which seems to be swelling up for another attack, scoops the pokeball off the ground. "I'll owe you for this Cecil!" So saying, she practically shoves the orb into the animated sludge pile. It's sucked into the ball almost immediately. The clearing is silent now, except for the harsh panting of the trained mon and the human combatants.

Staggering to the rock face, Cecil curled in on himself and slumped against it, continuing to convulse painfully. It was too much even to complain about, there was no catching up to Bunnie like this. Now and then a grunt or groan would escape him, and a hand would work itself into a major muscle group to try to relieve the discomfort. Frustrated, incapacitated, he could only breathe and fume.
Cecil is Paralyzed.

Is it over? It's over. Okay. Christine takes a moment to just survey the scene, before spotting Cecil slumping. Recalling Bones on the way, she runs over to him. Well, this is why I'm here. After a little bit of standing over him and just observing - because he didn't seem to be in any shape to actually answer her questions - she rummages through her bag, to pull out a needle. "Please try to hold still as best you can while I'm doing this, DeLoria. I really don't feel like the needle breaking in your arm," she says, before abruptly stabbing him. "Your muscles should relax in a few minutes." I hope. Never dealt with... tounge... before. She stands over him making sure that he's fine, before turning around and asking "Is anyone else or their Pokémon hurt badly?"Cecil is restored 30hp, and cured of Paralysis.

With an understanding nod, he gripped one wrist with the other and locked his arms straight. There was a bit of a scare as he shook just as the needle approached. Christine was deft in her administration, and the prick was nothing in comparison to what he was already dealing with. As his muscles finally calmed themselves, he wicked away the sweat with the tears he refused to admit to and caught his breath.
His recovery came as Christine looked after the others, and his eyes rarely strayed from her in those moments. The woman had often touted about her job, her place in this group. She might not be much in a fight, but push come to shove there was no hesitation in her when it came time she was needed. Even with him. With the chip on his shoulder as large as it'd always been, it was a begrudging sort of thing to realize. They were all struggling to cope with what was to come in their own ways. Christine would keep him in this a lot longer, Cecil hadn't quite appreciated any of it until that exact moment.
"Thank you Christine." Cecil must've been feeling unwell still, that couldn't possibly be right. He was genuine with the statement without making a big deal over it, but all the same it was so... out of place. Taking a knee from where he'd lain, the boy retrieved the strip of cloth from Miss Maples before tucking her away again. Presenting it to Boneyard, the canine licked the back of his hand twice before resting the end of it's muzzle there. Sniffing away at the strip of cloth, examining it. "As soon as everyone's ready, we need to move before we lose them."

Kat rubs the last of the mud away from her eyes as Hazel approaches her, then grimaces and glances at Christine. "If yer lookin' for more patients, could ya please take a look-over of Hazel? She got a bit pummeled."As Cecil starts showing the cloth's scent to his Houndour, Kat releases Rosco from his ball. "Two noses beat one. Ros, see if you can help out, aye?" The small Zorua chirps and darts to the Houndour's side, sniffing eagerly at the scrap. Meanwhile, Kat glances towards the pokemon they'd collectively knocked out. "Anyone much mind if I carve up these ferals quick-like? It'd be a waste to let their goods go to waste..."Hazel's down by 21 hp (almost half her health), if Christine's just able to med-kit her or something it would help. Please & thanks! "Well, I'm no expert at non-human physiology..." Christine says, "But I'll give it my best shot." Luckily it didn't seem to be as bad as Cecil. No muscle lock, so just a bit of medication should work. Hopefully. Maybe it would just make it worse. God knows what her medicine might do to the Grimer... It might kill it. Hazel heals 33hp.

Amber looks around, eyes narrowed in concentration. She pauses over some broken bits. Picking something up, she squints at it for a moment, turning it over in her hands. She kneels in the mess, picking through bits of metal.
"Hey....hey, Cecil?" She says after a moment, glancing at the boy. "I...um."
She holds up a slightly shattered vault dex. "I found something. Looks like their dexes...I can maybe fix this one, but this other one is pretty bad."
She flips them over, peering at the back of each one in turn. "...Looks like the good one is Bunnies..." She mutters absentmindedly, scratching at a crack. She sets them to the side, near Cecil's feet, and starts to collect the various scrap metals and techno pieces in the pile--just in case. If he doesn't take them, she'll collect them at the end.
After she's done collecting, she collects the ball containing the pokemon she caught. There's a bit of satisfaction, for a second, at finally catching the monster that she struggled with earlier....but holding it now, when it was Bunnies, feels...wrong.
"Hey, Kat...." Amber says after a minute, approaching the other girl. She holds out the Growlithe's ball. "Will you take this for me? I...don't feel comfortable with it."

"Can't say I'm at all surprised." Cecil muttered darkly. "Cult that worships Pokemon like gods, first thing they're going to do is destroy any evidence they could ever be enslaved, then punish or convert the people who did it." Cecil pocketed Bunnie's Pokedex. Joe Vargas was as good as dead to him the moment the janitor set foot outside of the vault, the teen kept trying to tell himself the guy wouldn't be missed. He certainly wasn't cared for in life. Yet somehow, the idea that he might be gone carried weight. Meaning.
It was a loss that couldn't be recouped. Something that had been taken from each of them, not just Cecil. No matter what they found on the road ahead, each of the people that he'd set out with would mourn these events in their own ways. Kat, as an outsider was the only one that might've been immune by degrees of separation, but even she had exposure to similar in her past. Mulling it all over, the muscles in his neck and jaw periodically tensed as he grit his teeth.
"I'm not wasting anymore time, we need to move Kat. We have to come back for the Jalopy anyway, just leave them for now. Amber just learned how to drive this afternoon, can't put a lot of trust in her taking tight corners in the woods at speed." More then that, the last thing Amber and Christine needed to see right now was a stranger eviscerating and skinning Pokemon. That they were Bunnie and Joe's only made the notion worse. Cecil steeled himself against what was to come, and gave Boneyard the command to find the scent, trailing along after the canine.

Kat turns to Amber's voice after setting Rosco on the right path, and grins a bit sheepishly. "I hope it weren't my silly temper in the heat of the moment that brought this on," she mumbles out with a strangled laugh. She accepts the ball, rolling it around her fingers in thought before adding it to her belt. "Thanks, yeah? I'll keep care of this one. If your pals are roarin' and kickin' when we find 'em, for sure they'll need strong 'mon to get back on their feet."
Then she listens to Cecil's words, and hears the pain hidden behind them. Of course there wasn't time to carve the fainted foes. She stifles a sigh but nods, and starts looking around for more clues and tracks.

Leaving the two unconcious mon unaware of how close they'd come to literally losing their skins, the group follows the two canine mon along one of the fainter dirt tracks. It's immediately obvious that the Jalopy wouldn't have been able to get the speed that it had on the relatively open road had they tried to use it. Between the organic turns and twists that the trail seems to have, how narrow it is, and the sweeping branches, the machine would have been slowed to a crawl. Further complicating things is the two mon being used to track. While Boneyard seems to be able to keep on a semi-straight course, Rosco is casting about in a much wider arc. Progress is slow, but after nearly an hour and a few false stops and pauses to pick up the scent, you still seem to be on the trail. Around you the woods have been relatively silent. There's a bird call or a rustling further off, but few if any of the native fauna seem to be interested in attacking a group with at least two obvious predators in the mix. Kat, you're noticing signs that the group is entering the range of something big and possibly predatory if the lack of wildlife is any indicator. Some of the fallen trees you've passed weren't uprooted during the storm, they're young healthy trees too. You also noticed what looked like a wallow at one point, a big muddy patch of ground off the path that some types of pokemon like to use to cool off and avoid insects. You're also noticing a sharp decrease in toxic plant-life in the area as you go, even poison ivy is hard to spot, indicative of whatever it is probably being a poison type. Even the predators supplement their diets with toxic plants to keep their own poisons strong. OOC: Perception checks from everyone please.

An oppressive silence hung in the air, broken by the odd sound from the local wildlife. The new smells of pine, oak, and cedar filling the close quarters they moved through. The odd wild flower, fern, or berry bush underfoot. It was a natural paradise, and Cecil couldn't enjoy it. His heart and mind were one, counting the steps it took to reach her. The greaser had no consolation or comfort for the others, being emotionally incapable of handling any of it himself.
Something changed. Boneyard stiffened in his peripheral, drawing his trainer to a halt. Following the point of it's muzzle, he looked on ahead.

As they walk, Christine tries not to think about Joe and Bunnie's fate, and instead reflects on the last few minutes. She has a feeling that's not the last time that DeLoria's going to run into trouble without thinking... it was a surprise to get what sounded like a genuine thanks out of him afterwards. A pleasant one, but a surprise nonetheless. Kat was... a bit scary, to be honest. It was a good thing that the surface girl seemed to... well, tolerate them at least. She hoped that they never had to come to blows over anything... Meanwhile, she tries to keep an eye out for anything interesting. Perception: 13

Kat stiffens up and slows her pace as she notes the absence of poisonous plants from the clearing, and the toppled young trees.
"Not meanin' ta scare you lot, but there's something big around," she mumbles just loud enough for their group to hear. Immediately she retrieves her hatchet and Rosco gives up his tracking, warping into her 'twin' again as he skulks close to her side. "Don't s'pose you got a lotta antidotes on hand, doc? I think we're gonna need 'em if we run into the baddie that calls this place its den. Might be a bit too much to hope that it ain't a territorial type, given then... lack of other life around."

As Kat mentions the possibility of some kind of big predator, Boneyard goes on point, hackles up but not growling as of yet. There's a shaking and rustling in the bushes off the the right-hand side of the path you've all been following. It seems to be moving away from the path in a haphazard manner. You spot a flash of tan skin and blonde hair as a stumbling figure is trying to move away from the path, catching themselves against trees as they go. The two of you are even to make out the barest of whimpers as the figure tries to get away.

Cecil glanced between the dog and the bushes. He had read about that posturing somewhere, it was a heightened state of alertness, and also an indicator of when a trained animal found the prey it was tracking? Had they finally found... What? It might be Bunnie, but that seemed less likely. Cecil made a motion for Kat to follow, and the girls to hold, easing stealthily through the brush to one side of the path.

"Wait!" she says, quietly. "Cecil, there's... someone there, I think! I can't quite tell." She was hesitant to raise the next point, because it would guarantee Cecil would jump to one thing. And she couldn't bear to be the bearer of bad news if it wasn't. But, it wouldn't do to keep things from the others. "But... the figure in there... they're blond."

Freezing, the boy made eye contact with Christine before actually clearing the brush. There wasn't a lot of noise, so it stood to reason if it was more than one person, or pokemon, there weren't many. Finally, after a moment of hesitation he called out "Bunnie? That you out there?". Backing away from the cover a step. If it rushed them, better he wasn't half concealed.

Kat turns her eyes between Cecil and the bush warily, then steps forward-- but not so near as Cecil. She strips off her long gray coat with a little bit of a struggle, and bites her tongue in indecision when the greaser's question isn't immediately answered.
"Darlin'," she begins slowly, the sounds pausing on her lips like they don't know their place. Her voice is loud enough that it's clear she's addressing the individual in the bush. "Don't know if you remember me, but, ah... if you need it... I'm tossin' something your way. Put it on if you think the situation calls for it, aight? It'll make it a tad easier for us to... to get you outta here. Somewhere safer."
With a wince, she tosses the clothing article just to the side of where the rustling had been, to land atop the bushes in a bit of a heap.

The sounds of shuffling are heard, presumably Bunnie wrapping the jacket around herself. There is a bit more hesitation before Bunnie walks out of the brush, her eyes darting between everyone quickly a few times before looking directly at the ground. Her hair is a wreck, her face a mess of scratches and bruises. She keeps the jacket around her tightly, as if it were the only thing tethering her to reality. "I... I don't know where Joe is. He could be... I don't know where he is."
Tears well up in her eyes for a moment before she angrily forces them back down.
