Kaeda is surprised for second, and tries to back out, but notices quickly she can't. She tries not to panic from never being in this position before. "h-Ha!..Suuurree...Other telepaths...please speak normally for once..My gift is special, and you are...uhh...Whatever trick this is, it's incredibly annoying, and...and..." She is starting to freeze up, not knowing how to get out.

Kaeda hears mocking laughter in her head. "Oh please, girl. You're hardly unique in having telepathic abilities. Anya of the Elite Four is a telepath, my cousin is one, and it's quite possible that I have some modicum of telepathy as well, else how would I have ensnared you so within my mind?" There is a slight pause as Kaeda tries to hide her growing panic.
"Oh? Finally coming to the realization that you aren't going to get back into your own head until I allow it? Good. Now then, I know you were lying to me before. I do it all the time, so I can tell when others are as well. Yes, even before your thick-headed friend(s) spilled the beans on you. What ever shall I do about it, hmm? What do you think?"
The rest of the group notices that Kaeda has not moved or said anything in at least a minute or two, when normally they can't get her to shut up. Her posture also seems oddly relaxed for having been confrontational not that long ago.

Thankfully, Kaeda's fear soon is overcome by anger. "B-Bah! That means nothing to me. Others like them are beneath me. Either way I'm getting out, and you are not getting away with this..." Kaeda growls, and tries more forcefully to leave.

Floyd shakes his head at Lia.
"None of us said that." He replies, glancing at the silent Vince, then at Kaeda and the woman.
"So are you going to share your name, or should we give you two some private time to celebrate what is clearly love at first sight?" He asks, a faint note of amusement in his voice
He blinks and stiffens as he hears D'Mara's words.
"A pleasure to meet you then. As I said, we encountered the unknown pokemon briefly yesterday on the cave's second floor. We ventured to this floor but were forced to turn back due to our lower numbers and relative unpreparedness. The wild pokemon of the tunnel have pressed us, but their primary advantage lies in how their predecessors weaken us, rather than their innate strength."
He says, thinking over everything the woman had said. He then looks at Kaeda, realising she hadn't said anything despite his own taunt.
"Are you ok Kaeda? You aren't normally this silent."

Kaeda freezes up again at the woman's words. She's.. "You're...Elite Four!?...."...Kaeda now needs to quickly, but calmly work her way out through a crack in her hold over her consciousness.

Kaeda can find several "ways out", but each time she goes for one, she finds herself right back where she started. To her eyes, it's as if she's standing in a great maze where every path leads back to the starting position in a never-ending loop.
More laughter, sounding more and more maniacal/evil as it continues inside of Kaeda's head.
"What's the matter, Kaeda Starwood? Lose your way?"

Orpheus rests quietly in her ball, but usually enjoys any small talk Kaeda sends to her. She was gonna try to read someone's mind quickly, but she hasn't returned to Orpheus. Not feeling Kaeda try to connect back with her, she forces her way out of her ball to investigate. Her eyes adjust, but her mind can feel Kaeda's presence, but can feel something else. Something like a large wall of black that can't be penetrated. She whips around and sees the mystery woman, and her owner. She tries to make contact with Kaeda, but hears nothing. Looking at the woman in front of her, she assumes she has done something to Kaeda. Orpheus can't read her, but she can feels repulsed at the aura of darkness coming from her. A bad sign for a psychic. She then walks up to glare with great contempt at the woman. "You. Will. Not. Harm. Kaeda."

"I no more want Kaeda to be silent than I do you." Floyd says to Lia.
He frowns as Orpheus approaches D'Mara, clearly agitated.
"I have no wish to fight you and no illusions about what would result from a fight. But if you are causing harm to my friend and don't stop, I fear I will have little choice. Please cease whatever you are doing to Kaeda and we'll be on our way without bothering you further." He says, clearly prepared to fight if necessary.

She glances back at Floyd again as he seems to want her to stop as well.
"Stop doing what? I'm not doing anything. Your friend here just seems to have decided to stop responding after trying to read my mind. Tsk. Such a terrible habit, that is. Intruding on other people's minds. Is it any wonder it's come back to bite her?"

She turns to D'Mara. "As much as I'm enjoying the silence, and think that Kaeda does need a lesson... or five... we do kinda need to get moving. And these two here will yell at me if I just leave."Before D'Mara thinks she might be going for her, Lia turns and walks over to Kaeda. "Not going to pretend like we pose a threat to you right now, so I'm not going to mess with ya. Also I like you, and think we should totally hang out later, but Mind-reading is a two way street, so I'm going to the other end. Scier, help me out here buddy."Scier doesn't get a chance to wonder what's going on before she's snatched up by Lia. She and Scier make their way over to Kaeda's still form. Lia leans over. "Yo Scier, can you do some like... mental boosting or something?" Scier chings back with something akin to 'I think so?' "Just try your best, kay?"Scier starts to mentally connect with Kaeda while Lia gets REAL close to Kaeda. She grabs the back of her frienemy's head by her hair, and pulls her head over her shoulder. With Lia's mouth right up next to her ear, she whispers. "Your win... was a fluke. You will NEVER defeat me again Kaeda. Ever."Lia and Scier both try assisting on Kaeda's Focus roll!
+2 from Scier assisting the mind, and +2 from Lia pissing her off enough to want to snap out of it. |

Orpheus is ready to lash out, but Lia, and Scier, come up to Kaeda. She stares at them, she is very happy that friends are coming to help, but...When Lia uses insults to pull back Kaeda, Orpheus tilts her head in confusion.
Kaeda is desperately looking around to find a way out, but stops as she hears voice. A familiar voice. A very dumb, unattractive voice that brings her blood to a boil. "Oh my god...I have to deal with two of these bitches at once!?" Kaeda's anger, and annoyance give her a second wind to force herself out.

Kaeda suddenly realizes that she has never been trapped at all, except by her own mind. D'Mara tricked her, and she fell for it like a dunce Lia. D'Mara laughs as Kaeda's eyes unconsciously widen in realization as she regains control over her own mind.
"So, how's it feel? Knowing that you've been standing here like a moron for the past five minutes trapped by your own hubris?"6d6+3

Kaeda stumbles back a bit, and tries to grab a hold of her thoughts. She feels like she never left a t all actually. People who try to make a fool of her don't last to long. A scuffle broke out with her and Lia not too long ago. Speaking of..."You!" She turns to Lia. "You annoying little...I beat you clean, and I could embarrass you in another fight anytime! Anywhere!" She then holds her faithful Kirlia in her arms. "Oh hi there sweetie." "H-Hi..." She turns back to D'mara. She was sooo ready to challenge this bitch, but she's E4. In fact, Kaeda getting "trapped" was a sign of fortune, because she might not be conscious right now. This didn't quite stop her tongue though. With a big sigh, "And...you.....I will consider this....a miscalculation. I'm done with you for now. But be warned, this is not over. We are gonna meet again, and when we do, I hope you're well antiquated with this cave, because when I'm through with embarrassing you in a league match, this is where you'll be cuz you wont be able to show your face anywhere else!" Kaeda, and Orpheus, glare long and hard at the woman, then walk back to her companions.

Oh good she's back to normal. Maybe I should have left her like that and just snapped her up like before.
Lia merely shakes her head as Kaeda states stuff Lia is clearly not listening to. The least she could do is be grateful, Lia and Scier did just save her ass from herself, afterall.
After it's over, Lia merely gives a happy wave to D'mara and heads back into the caves hoping to get to the next area.

Vincent had been quiet for a good while now. To be completely honest, he'd been fascinated with D'Mara. She exuded an aura of darkness almost greater than his own Pokemon did, so he felt a certain companionship to her. He could also tell that she was incredibly dangerous and powerful. This meant that rather than becoming all chummy, Vincent could feel the desire to become stronger than her. He couldn't let this woman stay stronger than him. She was a threat to his goal of becoming Champion, no more no less. Still, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't feeling a little bit of attraction.
He also can't help but admire the way she skillfully handled a telepath. Vincent wasn't sure exactly what had gone down between D'Mara and Kaeda but it was clear that Kaeda had been tricked into stasis with her own powers. Her own 'hubris' as the woman had said. Vincent gave Kaeda some side eye. Yep, 'Hubris' sounded about right.
Still, Vincent was glad that whatever it was that had happened was over, otherwise he would have had to fight D'Mara and he had no doubt that his Pokemon would get trounced. Considering that she researched Dark-types and was an Elite Four member, it wasn't hard to guess what her specialization was, and it was a mutual bad match up at its base level. Unlike him however, an Elite Four member would have access to all manner of TMs and Tutors to expand their Pokemon's repertoire. It'd be a losing fight from the start. Perhaps if Floyd and Lia all got into it too, they could beat her, but it'd be a long and drawn out battle.
Vincent turns to finally address the woman, since Lia is already heading further. "Apologies for my silence so far. I seem to have forgotten my manners. My name is Vincent Roth. I plan on becoming Champion of Indigo Plateau. It was... interesting to meet you, D'Mara. Perhaps we'll meet again, before we see each other on the battlefield." Vincent nods in respect to the lady, waits a little for a possible response, and then turns to follow Lia.

D'Mara gives Vincent a little smile when he announces his goal to become Champion.
"It's not as if that isn't the goal of nearly every trainer out there. You've a long way to go yet, but I'm sure you knew that. Needless to say though, I'm still very much interested in seeing this creature you found. I'm certain that there is going to be more than one if it's truly a Pokemon. If you do manage to capture one, come back here and show it to me and I'll reward you."
She then goes and takes a seat by her little fire pit and starts poking around at the embers to get it started up again. Considering she had no light when she snuck up behind them, it seems unlikely that she needs it for anything but cooking. Regardless, with Kaeda back (whether or not that's a good thing), the party seems ready to move on.
