Kaeda takes the opportunity, with Lia's back turned, to run up, and tackle her out the doors. "You...you get BACK HERE, BIT-"

Floyd chuckles and stands up.

"My apologies for the disturbance. I won't let it happen again." Floyd promises the nurse, before stepping over to the PC. He assembles his team and walks over to Vincent.

"You ok?" He asks.

Lia's had her fun, and lets go of the hug.

"Oh please, like I care what my 'assets' look like. But you'll see it the 'Lia way' eventually Kaeda. You'lllllll seeeeeeeeeeee."

As Kaeda pushes off of Lia, she assumes forcefully but this is Lia vs Kaeda we're talking about here, Lia stands there confused as all hell.

So either A. She's messing with me, and the screaming mad woman we saw in the center is the 'real' Kaeda or B. I just took a swing and cracked into that mind of hers and that weird bit just now was her opening up.

Lia thinks for a moment.

Hell I don't know.

Lia is confused!

Lia takes damage from confusion!

Lia bops herself in the head and just lays down in the grass waiting for the others. Scier sits right down next to her head, probably still mentally reeling after her master went temporarily nuts, but looks normal on the surface.





Lia fainted!

Floyd gives Vincent a confused look. 'Why would he be concerned about me?' He wonders. 'I actually won the badge this time, and unlike Lia, my pride isn't going to suffer from a few defeats. He blinks and shakes his head, dismissing his thoughts.
"Vincent, I appreciate the concern, but I'm fine."

Floyd pauses and thinks.

"I've always found the best way to keep your mind clear of negativity is to assume you'll succeed in the future and only ever worry about the present. In your case though, it may be more appropriate to spend time just playing with your pokemon, instead of keeping to yourself all the time." He says, trying to explain his state of mind.

Vincent looks at Floyd and Kaeda. "Hmm," he says. "I love my Pokemon, I really do, they're like family to me, which is why I have that slightly embarrassing habit of giving my Pokemon nicknames for their names. But, I'm not the type to play around a lot. The way I show my love and appreciation is by training my Pokemon. I put a lot of pride in how much my training helps them in battle every day. I like to show them some affection here and there, to remind them that I'm also their friend and not just their Trainer, but I suppose there has been a lack of that recently. With our opponents getting stronger and stronger all the time, I put even more emphasis on my Pokemon's training and neglect to improve our bonds." He scratches his head a little. "Well, I might as well start now. Come get some fresh air, Vel!" With that, a Krokorok is released. Machiavelli looks at Vincent quizzically, not seeing any signs of battle. Vincent sighs. "Well, we haven't really hung out since you've evolved Vel." Machivelli nods, understanding dawning. He smiles a toothy smile and crosses his arms. Vincent smiles. "Your new form suits you. I can't wait until you evolve again." A fire burns in Vel's eyes as Vincent mentions evolution and the Krokorok growls in anticipation. Vincent laughs a little, "It'll come soon enough, Vel."

Vincent turns towards Kaeda and Floyd. "Let's go outside, I'd like you all, including Lia, to get to know Vel a little. I know you said we should have alone time, but that can come later, for now I want to introduce you to a part of my family." He promptly drags the two outside to stand around Lia.

"So, you guys haven't formally met him yet, but this is Machiavelli, or Vel, my starter Pokemon. I got him as a present from my Dad what feels like such a long time ago. I was still a kid then." He pats the Krookodile on the head softly and the Pokemon, though surprised, accepts it, the toothy smile taking on a softer tone. "We used to get up to so much trouble back then, sneaking around kitchens, the servants' rooms, the forest and so on. But I've found, and I think Vel will agree with me, that battling and training is more fun than sneaking around and causing trouble." Vel nods decisively. "That's why we can train so brutally and still come out as a family, because we have fun doing it."

To clarify to Lia, Vincent said, "Floyd and Kaeda were talking about how I should spend some time playing with my Pokemon. I told them that I train my Pokemon to show my love and appreciation. As proof of that, I wanted to introduce everyone to Machiavelli, or Vel as I usually call him."

Floyd silently listens to Lia's and Vincent's tales, glancing occasionally at Telum, the Magnemite having raised it's visor to see the others better.

A few moments after Lia finishes he nods and speaks up.

"The bond between two sentient beings is often all that keeps someone from spiraling out of control. He says, looking Tleum in the eye. He sighs and keeps talking.

"Telum wasn't a gift from my father. The closest thing I got as a gift was the axe I started with, and that was meant to be for cutting wood." He pauses and shakes his head.

"I grew up in the Survival Zone of Sinnoh. It isn't a good place to raise children - and credit to my parents, they didn't bother trying." Floyd doesn't even try to hide the venom in his voice when he speaks of his parents.

"I was basically a free-range kid, with my sister serving as my only authority figure. She taught me about pokemon and strength. About how you could only trust someone to act like they've acted before, and how I'd have to look after myself. She left when I was six." Floyd pauses and closes his eyes, obviously saddened.

"I wish she hadn't, but I can't exactly blame her for not wanting to be my primary caregiver all her life. I met Telum and Calyx after that. They were just wandering the Survival Area, and helped me sort myself out." He pauses and pulls Calyx's old, dented pokeball off of his belt, gripping it tight.

"When I was twelve I left myself. Jumped onto a ferry to Veilstone then walked into the school and said I couldn't read. They taught me, but no one ever really liked me there." He shrugs and looks up again, returning Calyx's ball to his belt.

"I heard about Kanto there - figured it sounded like a place my sister would enjoy and that I'd be able to make a good go at it myself. Made my way to Pewter and met you guys. Haven't looked back since."

Floyd awkwardly pats Lia on the back as she does.

"Um, thanks" He says, surprised by Lia's outburst of emotion.
"But I'm mostly over it now. I think."

Kaeda watches intently as the other 3 tell their stories. She remains silent throughout each of them. Orpheus looks up at her. "Hmm..." "Kaeda?..." "A boy, and his pokemon growing up together. Working together to get stronger, but have some trouble opening up about their feelings, and becoming rather jaded and introvert...." "........" "A girl, abandoning her family, and destiny so she and her pokemon could live free instead rotting in their perceived cages..." "......." "And, another boy, growing up in the harshest environments, eventual loss of all family support, and his pokemon and himself move forward to forge a destiny of their own..."  ".......Did you want to share, Kaeda?" "Ha!....share....What do I have to share really? That I lived in a big house with servants to answer my calls, delicious, gourmet food whenever I wanted, warm bed to sleep in every night?....I don't need to share that. They can assume that just by looking at me. Despite things I might feel, things I've gone through,experiences that may appear similar...we couldn't anymore different. It's obvious. Not exactly fair, but I've made it know to others before...comparing myself to these guys....The guys who have spent more than a day around me....doesn't seem fair." "You shared with Lia wh-" "Mhm....My problems don't seem so important when-" "Kaeda...." "It's fine...." 

Kaeda soon sees eyes move to her, expecting something from her. She opens her mouth to speak, but unfortunately, she puts up an emotional wall by turning around. She flicks her hair back, and sticks her hip out. 


"Well then...We've had quite the day already...Unfortunately I don't have much to offer, so don't mind me. But, I think we understand each other a little better, and we love our pokemon deeply. Now that we are a tighter group, shall we conquer this Rock Tunnel?" She looks back, and forces a smirk.
