As she's searching for some egg-head or another from Silph Co or whatever, an unexpected name appears on her screen among a list of the foremost occult experts in the region: D'Mara. The frikkin' Elite Four D'Mara, whom Lia now recalls having met (once) in Rock Tunnel. This then leads her to recall the Sykata and that other huge, otherworldly Pokemon that seemed to lead them. The 'giant black sykata' that she never learned the proper name of (if it even has one!). If D'Mara was investigating the Sykata when Lia's group mentioned it to her way back when, then it stands to reason that she'd probably be interested in the extraplanar Kabutops.

Lia is admittedly a bit 'apprehensive' about contacting her. Sure, at the time, she fucked with Kaeda and it was hilarious cause that's when they were all aggro toward each other. But now if she did that to Kaeda she'd probably do something dumb and charge at her. Not to mention she herself failed to get a sykata to show off. But she dials the public number for her, and waits for an answer.

"Just a moment, please hold." the voice responds. After a couple seconds, you begin to hear some sort of typical background elevator-type music playing over the phone. Oh joy. The standardized 'elevator/holding music'. Thankfully it doesn't last too long as there is a faint click and then a new voice answers the phone. Seems your call has been transferred to D'Mara's personal line.
"Hello again, Lia Regal. You've been quite busy, I see. In what way can I assist you?"

Lia's brow furrows. Caller Id via the dex for the name, sure. But 'busy'? Her tone is a little tentative.
"Yeah, hi... Did you just look me up before taking my call or something?"
Lia shakes her head. It bothers her and she'd want an answer but it's not why she's here.
"*Sigh* Just... do you have time to meet today? Or soon? I think we can help each other out with something."

Lia's not comfortable with it but she supposes that's fair. She just stays silent through that part and lets D'mara talk.
"Yes that's exactly it. I mean I'm looking for something and I have a feeling you either know or would like to know about it, and we can help each other out. You remember what you were looking for in Rock Tunnel? Any chance you were looking for something similar, or heard of, in Mt Moon?"

D'Mara chuckles dryly. "It won't be so simple as walking up to the portal and saying 'open sesame' like in fairy tails, Miss Regal; though I'm sure you knew that already. No, this sort of thing is going to take time. Who is to say we can close the portal again once we get it open? We need more information before we can do this. I already have people working on it, but it's slow going. To answer your question more directly: absolutely. Putting aside whatever power it may have, such things could greatly increase our understanding of our world and Pokemon in general. After all, if there is a place for dark and ghost-types, why not a place for all other types as well? Perhaps these aren't even other 'realms' or 'dimensions', but merely portals to other, physical worlds within out galaxy that we've yet to discover. The possibilities are endless."

'Slow-Going' puts a bit of a damper on the situation but at least she seems interested.
"Well if it was easy I would have already done it. That's why I'm calling you. It looked like a nightmarish huge Kabutops and it could phase in an out at will and seemed to switch types, kinda like a Greninja, but like at will. I mean maybe human life was the trigger, or maybe us? It 'woke up' and stepped out when we all got there, and when it was defeated the unconscious body was dragged back in and the hole closed. I don't know if any of that helps."
Lia pauses again.
"But that leaves the question of: 'What next?'"

The League does not have infinite resources, as some like to proclaim, so we can only stretch the ACE trainers so far. I have teams investigating both Rock Tunnel and Mt. Moon right now, as well as Cerulean Cave. The only place I can't afford to send people right now is the Seafoam Islands. Especially with well-documented sightings of the Legendary Articuno roosting there during the warmer months."

Alright, an actual goal of something to do. That's more like it. Messing with Articuno is 'less' so, but hopefully it won't come to that.
