Jax sends his four Pokémon through the healing machine whether they need it or not, being of the opinion that they'd simply like how it feels and it would at the very least boost their spirits, then he sets the unconscious, uncaptured Mankey on the counter.
"Kind employee, what can be done for this wild Mankey? It suffered a punishing defeat earlier this evening."

The Nurse Joy behind the desk merely smiles.
"We can take care of it quite easily. We have special temporary Poke Balls for just such an occasion. You may be surprised at how often we get kind Trainers that bring in injured Wilds."
She produces a gray-ish poke ball and uses it to "capture" Mankey. She then places this ball on the machine with the rest of your team, healing all at once. She returns all of the Poke Balls to you, but cautions that Mankey is not officially his until it is captured in a normal Poke Ball. These temporary balls will only hold it until it is next released, at which point it is still fully Wild.

"And what becomes of the ball after the Mankey is released?" Jax asks.

"It breaks and becomes useless. There is a reason they are called 'temporary'."

Jax nods and then looks around the center, taking note of how many people are currently inside.

There are not a lot of people in the atrium at present. Most are probably asleep.

"Attention, wakeful Trainers and employees," Jax says, speaking loud enough for those nearby to hear but still trying to remain quiet enough to not disturb those who are sleeping. "I am about to release a Mankey from this temporary capture ball. It might behave erratically, but my Abra will keep the situation under control. I just didn't want any of you to be surprised."

A few of the patrons glance up from whatever they were doing, and one or two leave the room. The rest seem mostly uninterested at this time. They probably figure you know what you're doing, and even if you don't, a Pokemon Center employee will probably step in.

Vincent entered the Pokemon Center. He arrived in time to hear Jax proclaim his intentions to the room." Vincent said nothing as he gave in his two Pokemon to be healed. Machiavelli had done a lot of work today and he deserved a good restful healing. Vincent wasn't sure if he was the first trainer that Hortensia came across, but he was sure the battle with Machiavelli had been as difficult for her as it had been for them.
Once he was done with that business he walked over to Jax. "Busy as ever I see, Jax. If you need any help with the Mankey just tell me," he told the masked boy. He made to stand with him but then reconsidered. "Actually on second thought, my face is probably the last thing the guy or girl wants to see. I'll be up in my room."
Vincent settled in for the night, allowing Machiavelli to sleep outside his Pokeball. He didn't think releasing Hortensia now was a good idea. He'd have to talk with her tomorrow.
The next day, Vincent went out to do some training with his team, sparring against Machiavelli and even Hortensia, with whom he had a short chat about being on his team. She wasn't quite ready to be friends with Vincent (and really he didn't need that much, even though it would be nice), but she respected him as a Trainer.
Vincent's team is now Brutal.

Back in the past, Jax releases the Mankey, marveling as the Temp Ball instantly just breaks and is rendered useless after that. He keeps the parts, though, since they look like they could be used to fashion a Basic Ball with a little ingenuity.
Before Mankey can do anything, Jax makes sure that Abra is released as well and is holding the Mankey immobile.
"Okay, Abra. Help me communicate with this Mankey. Give me its answers in the human tongue, if you please. Mister Mankey, I believe that you were once owned by another Trainer. Is that correct?"

The very second it is released, Abra acts, immobilizing it as it re-orients itself to being conscious.
"Master, it says that it has never been with humans before. It was born in the wild. It also wishes very much to be able to attack, though not from malice. It is merely an aggressive species."
You get the sense that if its eyes were open, Abra would be rolling them. It clearly believes this mankey to be inferior in every respect to itself.

Jax loves that about his Abra.
"So then tell me, Mankey warrior, how do you know Rock Smash? Did you inherit the ability to use that Move from a parent?"

"It says it does not know how it knows. Only that it does. Your theory of inheritance seems plausible."
Mankey continues to struggle against Abra's telekinetic hold.

Abra falls silent for a moment as it struggles to maintain control over the Mankey. It manages, but only just. (Ties will go to the PCs.)

"Well, Mankey, you seem like you really like to fight. You are wasted on Viridian Forest. What you need is an energetic, scrappy little Trainer who loves to battle. Come with me and I will see to it that you and that Trainer are brought together. Lots of fights. Sound good?"

Mankey stops squirming to think about this.
"Don't think too hard, you'll hurt yourself." Abra remarks dryly. It doesn't seem like Mankey heard it, so it's quite possible that Abra just attempted a joke.

Jax produces a Poké Ball and holds it out just far enough for Mankey to reach it if it wants. He then gives Mankey however much time it wants to think things over.
"While it ponders, help it understand all the benefits of what I offer," he says to Abra.

Abra does as ordered, not that it seems to think Mankey will understand half of what it says. After several minutes of this, Abra relays further information to you.
"It says that even though it likes the idea of finding a strong trainer to work with it, its pride does not allow it to merely submit to being captured. It demands a battle before it will submit."
