Without a Pokémon that can track on her team, Maxine suggests to the officers that they radio in for a Pokémon who can. If they don't have radios, she suggests that one officer high-tail it back to town and obtain an appropriate Pokémon while the rest of them continue to move only a bit further forward, not too far so they can be easily found again, and search the area for any possible clues at all.

One of the officers tries their radio, but finds it can't get a clear enough signal inside the forest. They suggest you not stray too far so they can find you again, and ask if you have something that belongs to your missing friend they can use to track him. Whatever your answer, the officer in question leaves the forest for a time to radio for a tracker.

Vincent You continue to play the loyal servant throughout the day. There are designated meal times, naturally, though for servants the fare is rather generic. Nonetheless, it is food, so eat you shall; if only to keep up your strength for when you find a way to make an escape attempt. At some point, you also come across what appears to be a prison for 'trespassers' that were considered unfit to be servants for whatever reason. In here you find what appears to be an entire TV crew. Their equipment was obviously confiscated, along with whatever possessions they may have had, but they are in their right mind, as evidenced by the fact that they recognize you as an "outsider", and beg you to release them.

Vincent once again has to grit his teeth, this time in shame, as he is unable to help the prisoners. He does have an idea however. Lowly he whispers, "Tell me your names, if I get out of here, I'll give them to the police. Once they realise I'm right about the people that have gone missing, they'll have to believe me about this place and will send a task-force to free everyone. I'm sorry I can't do more right now, but my hands are tied."

The fact you are even willing to help at all is enough to give them hope. With the weird way it always seems to be brightly lit around here, it's hard to tell how long they've been trapped. Logically, they believe it can't have been more than a day or two, or someone would have noticed their absence, but that doesn't prevent the feeling that they've been here for ages. Perception of time is funny that way. Especially when in a prison. They give you their names and the name of their TV station, stating that if it comes down to it, you might be able to push the police into action if you threaten to give the story to a news station. Oftentimes, just the threat of panicked/angry civilians is enough to spur them into action. Assuming, of course, that someone on the outside hasn't already managed to get them moving.
They also mention that technology seems to not work as well here. At least as far as communication devices. They're unsure if it's just that they're so far away from 'civilization' that there's no signal, or if there is something blocking signals out. If the reporter (who has been elected spokesperson of the group) is to be honest, she isn't even entirely sure how they got here. One minute they were preparing to film something in the woods, then their equipment started to go haywire. After that, everything is a bit of a blur. All she remembers is suddenly feeling sleepy and then nothing until she woke up here with her crew imprisoned in the cells next to her.

Vincent nods at their story, telling them about what happened to him. He's quite embarrassed to admit that he blanked out in the middle of a Pokemon battle and it cost him his consciousness and apparently his freedom. He's not eager to ever repeat that mistake again.

Approximately an hour later, the third police officer arrives with a Growlithe in tow to help with tracking. When you reluctantly inform them that you have nothing that could help them track the scent, they shrug and say it's all on Growlithe then. Alas, though, as the Growlithe cannot seem to pick up any specific scents from nothing. It seems you'll have to press on into the woods anyway.
(DC is 20, Growlithe can roll 19 at most.) ~~~~

Eventually the guards usher you out of the prison area, stating that your break time is over and you need to return to your duties. It doesn't take long to finish those up for the day, though it seems like no time has passed at all, as it still appears to be midday. Perhaps that's part of the 'charm' of this place; perpetual sunlight. Who can say?

After the last of the spiders flee, Lia quickly pulls out her First Aid Kit, healing herself and Kwarc up, offering some supplies to heal up Floyd and his pokemon as well. "We can either stand here and do nothing, or we can walk around aimlessly. Unless your new Spinarak knows the way back to town or something." Floyd says after a moments thought, pulling the sticky thread off of him.

"Shoot idk man. I'm going to have Jazda make one more attempt. as he seemed to track onto something before, but lost it. After that I don't know. I guess head back as I don't have a plan. Maybe we could have Maxine lend us her Tropius and low-fly over the forest, see if we see anything? I didn't really think this far beyond LIA SMASH."She lets the young Girafarig back out, returning Kwarc. He sniffs around a bit, trying to pick up something. Spending AP for TRACKINGZ

Jazda is still unable to pick up any specific scents other than the obvious ones (yourselves and the Spinarak swarm). It seems you are left with 3 choices:
1) Charge off blindly into the woods again and possibly get even more lost, banking on the possibility of stumbling upon your destination (or something associated with it attacking you)
2) Stay put and hope that Maxine is on the way with help
or
3) Use Jazda (or another tracker) to help guide you back along your path towards Route 25 and Cerulean.

We move back towards Route 25 and Cerulean City. Floyd also takes a moment to teleport Glosny and Ossia to the Ranch, retrieving Mala and Esuri.

Lia and Floyd
With Jazda's help, you easily backtrack along the path you took into the woods. After maybe 20 minutes of walking, Jazda suddenly stands up straighter, sensing something. You both prepare for another battle, only to hear the baying of a Growlithe approaching. Shortly thereafter, a Growlithe wearing police identification bursts out of the trees in front of you. It growls for a moment until an officer arrives to calm it. Moments later, 2 more officers, as well as Maxine turn up. Seems she managed to get a couple of officers involved in helping find Vincent/you guys.

Considering that you are already heading back, and there are only two of you, the officers begin to suspect that either this was all a ruse to waste police resources for Arceus knows what reasons, or you went in on your own to find the supposedly missing people and got lost, forcing a retreat. You get the feeling that they seem to be more inclined to believe the former over the latter.

Floyd explains to the police that their friend Vincent received a letter concerning a mutual acquaintance (Dan) going missing. The letter invited Vince to come somewhere in the forest alone otherwise Dan would be killed. Vince did so and since he didn't come back, Floyd and Lia came out here to look for him while Maxine did the smart thing and sought help. He adds that if the police won't be of any assistance he'll have to contact his reporter friend to try and get an awareness campaign going about people going missing in the woods.

The police are leery of your explanation, but they don't want something like a missing kid (Trainer or not) getting spread around like idle gossip. They are certain that the Chief would want them to keep the story from spreading. They'll help you find him if you promise to keep this under wraps when it's over.

Between Jazda and the police Growlithe, you are able to find Vincent's day-old trail. Well, part of it anyway. After another couple hours of tracking, losing the trail, finding it again, and then moving forward, it pools in one spot. Apparently he stood here for awhile. There are still bits of cotton fluff stuck in the grass, like from a Cottonee, but no real signs of a struggle. His trail then leads on a bit further, mixed with some other, unknown scents, and then abruptly ends. Just... vanishes. Like he suddenly disappeared into thin air... or was teleported someplace.
