pre09.deviantart.net/8a03/th/pre/i/2016/056/7/a/auf_tausend_wegen____by_sieskja-d9t19yq.jpg The PremiseIn the very north of the lands of old Serordin there sits Balargarde Terrace, an ancient castle and home to a particular clan of Dark Elves and their Pokemon, of House Cal'dwl. The Dark Elves are one of many races of the world, and they mostly live in peace, but some recent goings on at the Terrace have the world wondering what's really going on. There were rumours that the current head has been working on rituals and occult magic to bring demons and foul malformed Pokemon into the world but these claims had previously been pushed away, brushed aside by the silver tongues of the house. Recently, however, the appearance of malformed Pokemon attacking local towns have caused these rumours to take a little more weight. The lands nearby are tasked primarily on protecting themselves from the attacks, but they've recruited a band of heroes who might be able to help, you. for whatever reasons, you've joined forces with your Pokemon to storm Balargarde Terrace, and stop Shirin Cal'dwl in whatever her next nefarious plan might be. You'll be running around what will essentially be a dungeon, dealing with the forces inside, using magical items, being wary of traps and fighting bosses. This will be a one-shot, it's to give a chance for some people to play builds they might not usually get to try, and to give me somewhere I can throw the kind of stuff I want to experiment with at players without worrying -too- much on things going wrong. That's not to say there's not a story in this, and I'm looking as much for some roleplay as I am a dungeon crawl. So if all of that sounds up your alleyway, here we are. Character CreationTrainers = Level 20 = You may start with a weapon, which may be arcane. You have 15,000P to spend on bits and pieces for your trainers and your Pokemon. You will also start with either a Heart Booster or a PP Up and four other vitamins to share amongst Pokemon. Restrictions: No Blessed and the Damned, DPDoM is allowed except Glitch Bender. See DPDoM section for details and changes. No Mega Rings and Stones etc. Be a Fantasy Race = Run around as a Kobold Ninja with his mass of Gible. Be an Elf with Fire Magic. Go nuts, be creative. Apart from the Dark Elves here, the world is a blank slate, let's have some fun with it. Pokemon = Four Level 35 Pokemon = You have six TM/Tutor/Egg moves of your choosing to distribute. No Legendaries, and whilst Pseudo-Legendaries are allowed, I wouldn't go overboard. Magical Items = Your Trainers/Pokemon will also have a couple of Magical Items, maybe this grants you an ability you might not otherwise get, or a couple of moves. You'll have Three magic items but for the moment we won't be going over their mechanical benefits, what I'd like from your applications would be rough ideas of what your magic items would be, ideas and the like, and then we'd go over these how they'd fit mechanically in the game. DPDoM
What is this Sci-Fi in my fantasy game. An Engineer becomes a Golem Crafter, using Clay as a material instead of steel, or clockwork. This variation stays reletively the same but is reflavoured. Weaknesses would change based on these. Alternatively, it can be flavoured as a Summoner style class, creating beings from nothing in attempts to mirror Pokemon. In this case, Tech Ed is replaced by Occult Ed. An Upgrader uses Runes or strange Rituals on their Pokemon to change them, giving them a glowing set of eyes, or another couple of pairs. Their legs and body sprouts attacking tentacles at times, or lights around it keep it healthy. Tech Ed for Runes, Occult Ed for Rituals, open to other ideas. These are options you can explore. Is there any point in me building Capture Specialist?
Short answer, no. This is a One-Shot Dungeon Crawl with the idea in mind that combat is probably going to be a prime thing, and capturing Pokemon is to the side. Where there may be sections you can chuck a ball and catch a wild Pokemon that one of the House Guards has wrangled into service, going full Capture Specialist is probably a bad plan. The boss that is a murderous demon from another dimension is probably not going to be dazzled by your contest challenge either. I could be wrong, and you could find a way to really stick it to a boss somehow using all manner of things I haven't thought of. Application Details
I'm opening this as of right now and will be closing it this time next week, Thursday the 10th of March at Midday, GMT. The game will be played through the PBPf forum, but I will make a group on Skype to converse with the group. If you're interested in Pre-Game Froth and sharing builds, ideas for magic items, and so on, I'll be doing a Skype Group for that with any questions. I will be taking Four applicants to run this. If the interest is large, I will be running similar dungeon-crawly one-shots. But I'll get this one up and going first. I am contactable either here or on Skype if you have me. If not, PM me.

I think a one-shot like this is exactly what I need to get back into the roleplaying (and Pokemon!) groove after a long absence. I haven't played PTU since 1.04, and most of my experience is with 1.03, but I've been catching up for the last week or so. My first concept is a Deep Gnome, an escaped Dark Elf slave with a grudge against his former masters. He'd be a defender type, determined to keep anyone else from the fate he suffered. A tiny man in heavy armor with a shield as big as he is, and a heavy flail to smash and entangle foes. In combat his main tactics would involve locking down enemies and keeping them focused on him, presenting a tough and menacing target. Mechanically, Stone Warrior or Earth Shaker (gotta decide whether Arena Trap/Earth Shifter/Sand Tomb, or Stone Stance/Wide Guard/Stealth Rock will better serve his strategy) and some combination of Fortress/Athlete/Roughneck. Don't suppose you'd allow two Elemental Connections? Though I have no idea if I'd want to try and fit both into his build. Just brainstorming for the moment. Also apparently one of the playtest packets removed Heavy Shields? Can we re-allow them, or come up with a new version that's not as strong as the original perhaps? (Though I guess a light shield might be a heavy shield to a Gnome, regardless. ) Additionally, it's unclear if the nerf to Shields also effects the bonuses when you ready them...

Just the one Elemental Connection this time around.
I am indeed using all the playtest packets so the shield change is around. Shields grant the same bonuses when they are readied, though.

Here's what I've got so far for Kvinter, Deepstone Warden. Still working on his backstory. As far as his Pokemon go, Malamar is the only one set in stone; the other three are still in flux, but there will definitely be a bat, spider, and mushroom Pokemon. (Theme? What theme?) I might need some help deciding on which. I do want to avoid having three Poison types though. Brainstorming on magic items, weapon and shield are obvious ones. For the shield, I was thinking it could grant some additional bonus while it's readied, maybe an ability. Something that hurts the enemy when they attack him. Fluffwise, all his struggle and opportunity attacks will be shield bashes, so maybe it could also grant a bonus on those, like a free Push or something. (As a side note, I also plan on sometimes fluffing the Provocateur "kiss" moves as shield maneuvers - reflecting light off the shield to confuse a foe, for example, or a Captain America-style shield toss to the head to knock someone out.) For the weapon, it's a flail, so grappling/tripping effects seem appropriate. That doesn't quite seem "magical" though... maybe just being a mundane weapon would be enough and I could go with a less combat-focused relic. Alternatively, I found this really sweet pic... not sure what to do with that mechanically. Maybe we could workshop it. For his third item, I'd like something that gives him a Burrow speed. (I'm kind of surprised Earth Shaker doesn't already do that!) Not sure if it could do anything else or if that alone would be considered strong enough. It doesn't have to be a high speed.

Here is Dain Earthfist, a Hill Dwarf, veteran to battles and adventures, that lives in the hiring heroes town as a smith. After fighting time and time again the strange creatures, Dain has encouraged the mayor to call for help, and has decided to join the heroes for old times sake. Since he is a smith in town, he will not be missed for long, leaving behind equipment enough for them to defend themselves. He is Ground Earth Shaker, I guess like Kvinter, with a special defense stat dedication. He has a fear of Dragon Types, since one killed his brother. Still have to work on the Equipment. Since he is a Smith, I'm guessing a pretty good Heavy Armor and Axe.

In that case, I've swapped out Earth Shaker for Stone Warrior. Our characters do have quite a bit of overlap, still... I could go with a more traditional gnome illusionist instead, keeping Provocateur and Roughneck but swapping the other classes out for Prism. His backstory would remain mostly the same, and his combat role would simply lose its directly defensive angle, with crowd control still being the primary focus. A build that doesn't Intercept all the time would also probably be easier to manage in PbP. Hmm. I guess I'll wait and see what other kinds of characters people submit before thinking on it further.

Moon the Spirit Guardian
To sleepy to type more... ZZZzzzzz
Character Info
Short Summary Mūn is a Lepidoptera, very, very, loosely translated as 'butterfly person'. The Lepidoptera acts as guardians of a nearby village that lay in a valley. They take care of the village's dead and protects the village's young. They fight hostile Pokémon, spirits, and ensure that the children grow up. For the last century Mūn did all these things and became a strong spirit user, able to harm evil spirits and heal the living.
Mūn left her home for the sake of the villagers her people guard and protect. Mūn was chosen among her kind to find the source of the creatures that attacked their village and find a way to stop them. While on her quest, Mūn heard the call for an elite force to gather and destroy this threat and decided to join the party. Appearance Mūn is a small and petite little lady similar to a fairy but is as tall as a slightly short human. She has alabaster skin and long wispy silk hair. A pair of feathery antennae sprouts from her forehead and her eyes are a solid azure blue. However, Mūn seem to always has her eyes closed in the presence of others. She seem to have an ethereal aura while at the same time appearing very calm.
Her clothes consist of a fancy white tunic dress and a dark midnight blue cloak. Underneath she wears a pair of dark blue tights with gold edge slippers. A large bronze bell hangs on think ropes by her right thigh. On her left hand is a fingerless black glove with a bright blue gem. Personality Mūn personality contrast her appearance in, while she seems so unreal, is in fact very homely. She had spent years, guarding, protecting, and essentially raising children. She knows very well how to be social able and is polite to everyone. Mostly because the Lepidoptera knows just as much of the outside world as the outside world knows about them. Mūn doesn't know any bias in the world and is too mature to judge others base on their appearance.
In any case Mūn is usually quite, busy observing her surroundings. While she doesn't look like it she is pretty sharp. The LONG Version + Extra The Lepidoptera are a race practically unknown by the world except for a small obscure village located in a wide valley. This village worshiped the Lepidoptera as guardians of the village's departed souls and children. Legends had it that the Lepidoptera ARE the departed souls, transformed into a more beautiful and powerful being. Just like that of a metamorphoses of a caterpillar into a butterfly. It is assumed then that the Lepidopteras not only protect and watch over the villagers' departed soul's but also watch over the villager still alive. They are however a very mysterious bunch to even the village but are respected for their wisdom.
The Lepidoptera are born from the husk of their former selves. Whenever a villager dies, their bodies are taken, to or are recovered by, the Lepidoptera who then takes responsibility over the person soul. From this point the villager's do not know what the Lepidoptera do with the body but they know that the dead bodies are taken into the Lepidoptera's shrine and home in the mountain. The Lepidoptera, on their part, performs a ceremony that involves wrapping the deceased body into a cocoon and 'feeding' them with puréed food.
Certain Lepidoptera are tasked in performing the ceremony and then others are tasked to watch over the cocoon, to keep them safe and 'fed'. The Lepidoptera 'feed' by creating a small hole in the cocoon and pouring the liquid food into a funnel then a Threader, a Lepidoptera capable of making strings and cocoons, reveal the whole. The process is a delicate process and if not done correctly, can endanger the soul inside. The cocoons are then left in the cares of the other Lepidoptera who guards them from simple threats such as mold and water and supernatural threats. These supernatural threats are malevolent spirits often residue of soul's evil thoughts. The soul inside the cocoon is purified during it's metamorphosis but some feelings are so strong that they leek out. These cocoons are heavily guarded as well are it's neighbors.
Within the cocoon, the body goes into a long and complex metamorphosis that can take generations to complete depending on the condition of the deceased body. Upon completion, the villagers emerged as a Lepidoptera, usually with their memories gone but their spirit heavily connected to the village.
The Lepidoptera usually takes on a duty within the shrine or develop a special guardianship over a living villager. It is important to the Lepidoptera to protect the villagers so that they may learn and mature long enough in their present life so they may go though metamorphosis process sooner. That's why all of the village's children's are accompanied by a Lepidoptera to guard them and prevent them from experiencing an early death. It is considered a heavy responsibility and a great lost if a Lepidoptera should fail in protecting his young charge. For, if a child should die, they are unable to go through metamorphoses. The villagers understands this as the lost of the spirit because the spirit did not stay long enough inside it's body to become attach.
Outside the village, the Lepidoptera could be mistaken as large human size fairies.
The Lepidoptera are located just south of the homes of the Dark Elves and even they had sitings of the strange creatures and felt the impeding threat. The Lepidoptera chose one of their oldest guardians to scout out this threat and if necessary eliminate it.
Mūn was one of the older Lepidopteras but certainly not nearly as old as the Second Elder, the First Elder is still deep in his metamorphosis stage. She had spent several generations as a guardian over the villagers and several more over the cocoons kept safely inside their shrine. She was one of the few with a talent in destroying the evil spirits as well as to heal the living. But it was because of the incident on the outskirts of the village that Mūn was chosen to address the threat in the north. ---RP--- This time around Mūn was tasked as a guardian over a small village boy who was weak ever since he was born. His name was Dharma, although, Mūn never allowed herself to let him hear her call his name. Dharma was Mūn's 72th Child and, while he was more fragile than the others, Mūn was confident in what she was doing.
"Dharma come on! We need to reach Berry Hill before they are all gone!" Kari a small and rambunctious girl was tugging Dharma excited toward their destination. While poor Dharma was alternating between clutching his chest and his side. "Kari slow down! It's hard for me to breath!" Dharma pants loudly and no sooner did he spoke that a long load whistle pierce though the mountain clear air. Kari immediately stops as if chastised and instead motioned for Dharma to site on a nearby stump. "Sorry Dharma. I just wanted you to have some berries for your birthday." As Kari apologize, she took out her water skin and hands it over to Dharma. After a large drought from the skin and a cough Dharma smiled. "It's ok Kari, Mūn said I just need to take one step at a time." The two children chat and rest up, while farther away was a pair of Lepidopteras watching from amidst the foliage of a large tree.
"I apologize, Moon, for Kari's recklessness." Apologized a tall dark man with short dusty lavender hair, as he removes the grass whistle from his lips. He was almost two feet taller than Mūn, but then, most every other Lepidoptera were taller than her.
"It's alright Hanui. Dharma need to learn to speak up for himself or face the consequences." Mūn replied coolly, her gaze still resting on the children. Hanui hummed in agreement. "Certainly but it would be a shame for them to turn back after coming so far." Mūn shifts where she sat on the tree branch, crossing one leg over the other, as she leans forward. It seems to her that the children were to take their time. "Life does not always works to ones favor, Hanui. Even if it IS ones' birthday... Beside, doesn't that look like a lovely memory to you?" Mūn quips as she smiles softly. After a moment Hanui nods. "Yes, and it'll be a goal for them to reach in the future... Together." Mūn could feel a similar smile to her,s in Hanui's voice and nods, "If that's what they wish..."
A comfortable silence fell between the Lepidoptera. In the far off distance a buzzing could be heard, that Mūn could tell was her Ninjask. But otherwise it was a very quiet afternoon in the valley. "...Mūn, do you think-“ Before Hanui could finish his sentence a loud crash came from the nearby forest followed by a cacophony of caws.
"What was that?! Did an elder tree fall?" Mūn jumped to her feet and look in the direct of the noise. A spiral of black Murkrows erupts from the trees below as Hanui steps from his branch to Mūn's. "... No, that sounded nothing like that and Murkrows would not be so disturbed." The Murkrows were quickly forgotten however as another crash came from the forest, this time closer. "It's coming this way." Mūn murmurs. "If it's an Ursaring. It'll be easy to deal with." Hanui shook his head and brought out his grass whistle. "I don't think it's an Ursaring..." Hanui then signaled for the children's to go home follow by a call for both Hanui and Mūn's Pokémons with his grass whistle. Mūn's Ninjask, Eun, came quickly his speed far superior to Hanui's Dustox and Volcarnos.
No sooner did the Pokémons arrived, did the loudest crash came from the edge of the forest. Hanui and Mūn look to see what was creating such a disturbance in their peaceful forest and could not believe their eyes. "Wh-what is that!" "I don't know I've never seen anything like it." Hanui replied stun by the creatures appearance. Suddenly Eun bumped Mūn with a loud buzz of his wings and gestures toward the children. Mūn looks and felt a stone fall into the bottoms of her stomach. "Dharma!" "Kari!" The children had not left from their spot by the stump and they were in clear view of the creature. "Eun, Defend the children!" "Duson, Volu, Defend!" The Pokémons heeds their master's call as both Hanui and Mūn run of the edge of the branch and took flight. Well, Hanui took flight anyway. Not all Lepidoptera can fly and Mūn was one of them "Jinu!?"
Jinu rustles where he slept. 'For some reason gravity was a lot lighter today.' He thought. 'Oh we're they falling.' As Jinu recall Mūn never liked to fall. 'Best fly then.' Jinu decided and just before Mūn was about meet the forest floor uncomfortable on her face. Jinu and Mūn took off into the air, Jinu holding on to Mūn's back where he been all day. "Hurry Jinu! Dharma and Kari are in trouble!" '
'Oh well then, let's speed along...' Pokémons Shedinja - Jinu Shedinja came to Mūn when Nincada evolved into Ninjask. Where there was one, there was then two. While slightly perplex by Shedinja's existence as it evokes many question as to what happen to the Lepidopteras shell, Mūn considers Shedinja the 'original' Nincada and Ninjask the 'new' Nincada.
Shedinja is dead silent but always has Mūn's back, literally. For Shedinja traveles while attached to Mūn back. Thus suggest that Shedinja is secretly lazy. Ninjask - Eun Ninjask as a Nincada was found as an egg beside Mūn's cocoon on the day of her metamorphosis. Ever since then, Mūn took care of Nincada, always having him attached to her back, as she trains to fulfill her duties as a Lepidopteras.
When Nincada evolved into Ninjask, his lazy nature seem to change as he prefers to zip around unable to sit still. Trevenant - Taekun Trevenant was found by Mūn in the nearby forest when he was just a Phantump. For some reason he became very attached to Mūn and wouldn't leave were side. After consulting with an Elder, Mūn discovered that Trevenant was most likely the spirit of a lost child. After consulting the records Mūn found an entry in which a young boy name, Taekun, was lost in the forest regardless of the Lepidopteras efforts. From then on Mūn always referred to Trevenant as Taekun and treats him much like her own boy.
Unlike his appearance Taekun is very childish yet gentle. He likes getting Mūn's attention and praise. He hates being alone much more than Masquerain. Masquerain - Mari Masquerain is flighty little thing that Mūn met while boating with one of her charges, Eunyce. Eunyce threatened to topple the boat in her attempt to grab the Pokémon. To keep from both of them going overboard Mūn persuaded the Pokémon to come to them. The Sirskit became Eunyce that day and would go wherever she went. Unfortunately, Eunyce pass away after a mudslide on her way to town. Eunyce body was retrieved and place inside the cocoocombs where as Sirskit was left behind without it's master. Fully aware of how it feels to be left behind Mūn sought out Sirskit and kept her company until eventually Sirskit decided to follow Mūn around.
While flighty Masquerain is also very clingy, especially to Mūn. Magic Items Magic Items Mourning Winged-Cloak
A clock that fits like a second wing. It protects the wearer from spirit attacks.
There is a famous legend that a cloak was made out of the wings of a Lepidoptera who, so moved by the tears and sadness of a mourning villager, comforted the them with his wing. The villager then recovered but everyday the villager would mourn and slowly wasting away unless the Lepidoptera were to lend his wings. Until one day the Lepidoptera came to the villager's doorstep and gave the villager his wings so they may cease to mourn permanently. The villager wore it everyday, never to shed a single tear nor to morn the pasting of others, for the rest of their life. The villager lived a ripe old age and was the last of their generation when they met their death bed. It is said that the villager returned the wings to the Lepidoptera on their death bed and told the Lepidoptera to wear them while they are gone until they meet again.
Or so the story goes. Knell Bell
A bell of the Lepidopteras to alert the villagers of a death in passing. Special bells are also made to reveal and repose lesser evil spirits in the cocoocombs. They also act as a soothing sound to those who hear them. Soul-thread Glove A binding weapon that can bind even evil spirits but has no affect on 'normal' opponents. The soul threads are made by pure spirit energy from inside the gem and gem gathers pure energy from around it when it depletes.
Here I was thinking something like a string whip weapon...

A few really good ideas, I'm loving them all. The invitation for a Skype chat is still open for people, and we can discuss stuff like mechanics of magic items, and so on.

For my magical I was thinking: - Cup of Health, the magically imbued cup is the remainder of Dain's brother. Before he died, the cleric dwarf cared for his brothers with this magical cup, capable of transforming any liquid put inside the cup, to a healing potion.
- Googles of Yanma, precision is no longer a threat with these strange googles that allow the wearer to see like a Bug pokemon would, with a global view of everything that surrounds them.
- Marowak's Legendary Bone, Dain and Alkali found this strange object casually during one of their adventures with the dwarves brothers. Instinctively Alkali knew that the bone, buried in the pile, was special and different than any other he had ever wield.

goo.gl/KErOGGI present to you Gu'Bar 'Bugbear' Azmatida, the Fiery Orc from Caldas. I just need to buy some items, but otherwise I am done. The magic items I was think were: *A helmet that grants the RockHead ability twice per day. *A gauntlet that grants the move Shadowclaw *A pearl that grants a bonus to any mind skill check, twice per day

Also interesting to use the Homunculus variant of Solosis and the like.

Not a problem, I think I still have one move left I can use, so I'll replace overheat with thunder shock and give it flamethrower. Hopefully the Homunculus won't be a problem.

Presenting Rion Ebonshield, a member of the Twili race, from the village of Duskhardt. Here's a description of his race. Please tell me if its not detailed enough: The Twili are a race of beings with an affinity for the dark. This peaceful tribe of people are the descendants of a tribe of sorcerers referred to only as Dark Interlopers, who eons ago were locked into forms that bound most of their magic by three mythical figures that they now worship as goddesses. The reason for this punishment was their attempt to dominate the land using the Shadow Magic they were able to wield. Relics of their old bid for power remain, such as the powerful instrument called the Fused Shadow, which has since then been shattered into four pieces. Magic Items: Fused Shadow Piece An ancient relic left behind by the precursors of the Twili, this is a helmet that contains large amounts of shadow magic. It has been considered a lost item to the Twili Kingdom and no one is supposed to know where the pieces are kept. This is of course not completely true, rather than having been lost, the pieces of the Fused Shadow were scattered within the kingdom and given to secret keepers who would keep them safe. One of these secret keepers happens to be each Elder of Duskhardt village. Twilight Gauntlets These pitch black Krookodile leather gauntlets are not only stylish, but have been imbued with shadow magic. They were made and previously worn by a hero of Duskhardt, a Hunter by the name of Killian Dimblade. Umbral Ocarina This Ocarina has been passed down from Elder to Elder in Duskhardt ever since the village was first created. It's soothing sounds are said to calm down man and Pokemon alike. A village rumour has it that when a certain song that has been lost to time is played, it will invoke the power of the goddesses. You can reach me on skype, my username is revenant.nocturne. Edit: Changed the Twilight Boots to Gauntlets. I was thinking that they could maybe allow Rion to use Physical Dark-type Moves as Weapon Moves. For the Fused Shadow Piece I was thinking they would give Rion at least the Darkvision capability and then one other thing like maybe a Move or act like a Type Booster granting +5 Damage to Dark-type Moves. For the Ocarina my thoughts were that it would act like a Skill Stunt, adding a bonus to Charm checks made while playing it. Edit 2: Added a little more detail to the magic item lores.

Got some sleep so I can talk more. Although I think I've wrote enough to last me a couple of post. :PI still have to finish some stuff on Mūn and do all of her Pokemon's moves.
Oh, but I did want to mention my inspiration. I created the Lepidoptera base on the legend around butterflies either carrying or being the soul of the departed. Some how when I started writing the race up it was really easy and the writing just flowed out.
My Skype username is Rhewlif_Dewdrop.

I know it's a bit of a cliche speaking in terms of fantasy tabletop roleplaying, but I felt it would be an interesting character in PTU. ^_^
There are a few things I still need to do - spend my starting cash, nickname Pokemon, figure out where to put that PP Up - but Kvinter's fluff is done and he is mostly ready to go.

Less than 24 hours until the cut off. Love the entries I have so far. I'll be making my decision tomorrow evening and will post here, and then have you all together on a Skype conversation, to which we'll start either tomorrow evening or the following day.
