Lewis almost rolled his eyes. "You know that bottle of sound and fury as well as I do, taking things to extremes is not exactly new territory," he said dismissively. Then he thought about it for a second. "Though, the closest thing that she ever came to fear was separation from Spoink, and he was right here"

"Thanks," Xander says to Lewis. "Though I'm not...technically a full member of the Guild. I just...act exactly like one, I think?" If Lewis looks around he might note the mayor giving her son a disapproving look.
"Ahem!" Granbull clears his throat. "If our new Guild members are too occupied with other matters, then they can catch up later."
"As you can see, we have a visitor." He nods over to the Deerling. "She emerged from Sandfield Plains early this morning, and...well, why don't you explain?"
The grass-type seems rather shy, continuing to ineffectually hide behind Xander, who seems torn between amusement and pity at her antics. "I...I don't know what there is to explain. I don't remember anything. Just...suddenly I was being thrown out of the...Dungeon, right? That's what it's called?"

Lewis nodded to the Granbull and pulled out his inkpots and notepad to take notes for the others when they get back

Kyria might be intent on getting away but Virgil keeps doggedly following after her. Of course, she does try to stop and hide. It's a good thing she isn't very good at it or Virgil never would have been able to keep finding her. He's nearly out of breathe but manages to wheeze out, "What's...wrong?" The cloud of smoke had been bad but Kyria wasn't one to complain about getting dirty. That was his job!

Melanie frowned as she listened. Thrown out of the dungeon? Either she'd been down there the whole time they were there yesterday and never ran into them once, or she'd gone in sometimes after them. Or... but was that third option even possible?
Then again, a totem broke - not just broke, but exploded. Yesterday was certainly a day for impossible things, why shouldn't that keep going?
When no one else seemed to be about to question Deerling's lack of memories, she finally spoke up. Well, "spoke up" - her voice was still quiet. "You don't remember anything before that at all?"

Kyria sits below some rubble as Virgil approaches, she's more sad than afraid now, "I can't tell you." She looks off into the distance, "the deerling brought back memories best left behind and if it..." She trails off.

"No, nothing," the Deerling replies to Melanie, sounding rather miserable. "Well, almost nothing. I remember someone talking, but..." she shrugs. "I can't remember what they said. Something must have hit me -" she nods back to the bruise on her side "- but I don't know what. Whatever it was, it hurt, though."

Lewis winced for a moment, then slowly ambled from his pots and whispered in her ear. "That was actually me. My friends and I wound up fighting you in the dungeon"

"Uhhh..." Virgil says. He doesn't know exactly what to say. Normally it's Kyria comforting him! He forges ahead still trying to get to the bottom of the problem, "What is it about the Deerling that has you remembering things? And why can't you tell me?" He pauses for a second, "I'm your friend. You can tell me anything."

Kyria pauses, looking at Virgil, before looking away quickly. She thinks this over, it shouldn't matter so much this has happened before just not with her.
She turns back to Virgil, "I'm... Not like you and the others..." She pauses to take a deep breath, sweating nervously. "I'm one of them..." She looks towards Sandfield Plains. "...And it reminded me of home."
She starts panicking again, what if this changes their entire view of her? What has she done! She looks away again for a moment before trying to run away again, thus time however she trips and tumbles a bit.

Melanie settles down again, looking pensive. She's not at all sure what to make of this - but she hasn't made a certain connection, yet, and she can't hear what Eevee is whispering from over here.
Could this be connected to the totem exploding? Maybe pieces of it hit ferals and... brought them to their senses? Not for the first time in the past day or so, Melanie's regretting not reading up on ferals - she'd never seen much point when it was so rare to run across them, up until yesterday at least. For all she knows, ferals might be ordinary Pokémon 'gone native' in a Mystery Dungeon... or they could come into being by spontaneous generation. Deerling's lack of memory means she's certainly not going to be shedding any light on the subject... assuming she's not somehow a normal amnesiac Pokémon who wound up in the dungeon, but how would that have even happened?

"But...why did you hit me?" the Deerling whispers back to Lewis. "And why are we whispering?" she asks after a moment, in a more normal tone.
"Something I was wondering myself," Granbull remarks. "Do you have something to share, Eevee?"

Lewis raised his paw to the Granbull to indicate one moment please, sorry and then turned back to the deerling to whisper one more time " Well, because when my friends and I were going through Sandfield Plains, you and some of your friends attacked us. You were what we call a 'feral', a pokemon who had lost the ability to reason and reacted with violent intent at the sight of a non-feral. I was whispering because I wasn't sure you'd want everyone to hear this right out of the gate, but once the meeting's over I'd sincerely recommend you tell Guildmaster Snorlax and Granbull about this-Ahem. My apologies Granbull, I had the feeling that this particular information was not mine to share freely. Please excuse my interruption."

"I'm...huh...wha?" Deerling's look of wide-eyed confusion gets even more confused. "But...I'm not a feral now?" she asks Lewis - speaking loudly enough that everyone else can hear her.
"Sorry, what?" Zoroark asks from the other side of the room.

Oh Goatdamnit
Lewis fought the urge to facepaw. This was his own fault for bringing it up now of all times, but still, you'd think the poor deer would've used more discretion. Not seeing many other options, the eevee kept whispering in the Deerling's ear, trying to explain the situation without doing any more damage than he'd already done
"Well, presumably not anymore, given that you haven't attacked us yet, and you're rational enough to ask questions in the first place. Come to think of it, this wouldn't be the first instance of a feral becoming civilized in recorded history, we just don't have much data on it. You're kinda special like that."
Then he turned to the rest of the guild, and was sort of at a loss for words. He could feel everyone's eyes on the deerling, and Lewis ached with pity and guilt. What was he supposed to say: "she's not dangerous"? They didn't think she was dangerous before. Was he supposed to just tell the whole story? He glanced desperately to Xander for some sort of cue on what to do next.

One of them? Virgil's eyes go wide. Kyria was a feral? Or had been? She'd really been even more aggressive than she was now? Virgil doesn't really know how everyone would take it. But she was still Kyria.
Kyria takes off running again and Virgil hesitates before following after, surprised that she's running again. He offers a hand after she falls to help her up, "L-look. You might have been a feral but that doesn't matter. You're still my friend."

Kyria looks up at Virgil unsure of his reasoning, she barely understood her nature herself, How was he so trusting of her? She takes his stub of a hand and pulls herself up, despite her great strength she does her best not to pull him down to her instead. "It matters to me..." She looks back towards the guild hall, unsure of how she should return and what she would say.

Well, that... confirms certain suspicions, even if it doesn't make any more sense now than when Melanie was only barely daring to think it. The big question is what it means, both for Deerling in particular and the relationship between ferals and more civilized Pokémon in general.
Melanie takes a half step back toward the wall and stays quiet, but she edges back in the general direction of Eevee, Cubone, and Deerling. Yes, she's moving to back up the rookie again - she's expecting a lot of attention to focus on those three now.

Virgil tries to hide a frown. He didn't want her to feel bad about stuff she couldn't help. "Well it doesn't to me..." Virgil stands by awkwardly, not really wanting to hurry her along but they might get in trouble if they completely missed the meeting. "D-do you want to head back to the Guildhouse. They might be wondering where we went. If you want...that to be a secret, I'll keep it."

Kyria looks over at Virgil a bit more upset, her heritage was important to her. She sighs and shakes her head, he only wants to cheer her up but it wasn't helping much. "Yeah, we should Head back, but what should I say?" She needs back slowly, but picks up speed as she goes, not too fast that Virgil can't keep up though.
