"We did just get paid again, but a thousand isn't too much to work with, so I get that. I think I'm gonna go with Puraha, since if it's steel, I got some damage, and if it's electric then he's immune so win-win" Kai nods to himself, figuring that was a sound idea. He checked his pokenav for a moment, before nodding again.
"I think a stop by the tutors would be nice, get some utility on Puraha just in case"

The note left, and Ruby with her phone turned up high, the group sets out once more. The visit to the Tutors goes uneventfully, and the phone remains silent as the day crawls on.
After the successful lessons, the trio of Theo, Kai and Evelyn head for the Gym, while Ruby goes to pick up some food. The building is... it's big. A giant blocky cubic structure, really. Certainly feels like much, much more function over form. The waiting area inside is small and cozy, but the group doesn't exactly stay there long, as they're waved through.
The waiting area is really the only place in the building that seemed like part of a Gym, as the giant room that the group moves into feels much more like a workshop than anything. A large empty room, with scorch marks and scuffs all over, and what look like warehouse doors leading elsewhere. The smells of industry faintly fill the air.
In the room, there are two figures. A prim and proper-looking blonde girl in a sharp but practical shirt and pants, with an orange ball of glowing plasma floating besides her.
"Ah, welcome challengers," the girl says, beginning to stride over, grinning. "Been waiting a bit for someone to come so that I could put my abilities to the test. Isn't that always the case?" she scoffs, "As soon as you're prepared, nobody comes. Uh, anyways. My name is Nicole, and this here is Tess. Say hi, Tess." The plasmid jumps around a little, buzzing. "I'd say she's happy to get to try and have a workout today. Flex things a little."
"So, names and badges? I need to know where to calibrate things, and would like to know who I'm dealing with. And also, if you don't mind, tell me something interesting about yourself. I appreciate opponents who stick out in my mind."

"Theodore Weed, Miss, six badges." The boy adjusted his vest a little. "My family runs the Pretty Petal Flower Shop and the Berry Master is my grandfather. Not much else to tell anyhow, lost track of myself somewhere on the road and haven't sorted it yet."

"Just Kai here, six badges too. I'm from Alola." Kai flashes a smile. stepping a bit away from the group, before crouching fast, switching his weight to his hands and swinging his legs around in a circle, bringing his knee down on the floor and quickly popping back up at the end of the arc.
"I grew up learning dances back home, and keep up practicing even today!"

"Evelyn Mitsuru, also six badges," Evelyn says. "And my fath-" she pauses, before giving a thin smile. "No, that's not really interesting. Let's see... as a kid, I used to be really scared of ghosts, especially since my Pokémon I was growing up with couldn't hit them. So, without telling anyone, I tried looking up things to protect against ghosts, and put them everywhere around my room and stuff. In all the closets and places, too. I imagine there are probably some still hidden in various spots tucked away somewhere," she laughs. "I see," Nicole says, nodding. "Those are certainly distinct. But let's see if you can back them up with skill. Tess, prepare for showtime." The ball of energy buzzes, before it darts off. "You see, challengers," the girl grins, as the Pokémon heads off somewhere, "Gym leaders have an extraordinary amount of leeway as to what constitutes a challenge. So long as, at the end of the day, you can convince the League that you are indeed adequately testing the strength and skill of those who take it. That is where my projects come in. I look forwards to seeing how this one fares."One of the warehouse doors has been opening, and now, what's on the other side can be seen. It looks like a giant mechanical Scizor, and it begins to gently float out. Heat and electricity crackle out of the right and left claws, respectively. Nicole bows, before gesturing to the bot. "Trainers, Tess will more properly be your opponent today. She's the only one who can pilot the things. I just build them." She giggles. "I do hope that you put up a good fight."Evelyn's brow furrows, as she looks to the others. "Let's give the lady what she wants, eh? I know we can pull this off." She sends out her Lucario, who takes up a fighting stance. MapMechanics: The Mecha-Scizor is composed of 6 parts: Head, Core, Left Arm, Right Arm, Legs and Wings. Defeating the Core wins the fight, but defeating other parts will weaken the core and also disable capabilities of the whole. AoE targets the core and 2 other parts of choice.

"Well Wild Bill, time to show this city girl how a wild rose blooms. Energy ball, and then toughen up, we're in fer a fight." Bill gleefully draws his short arms together, turning around to launch a green orb that detonates brightly against the machine's face. The cotton Pokemon's body then swells impressively poofier. (54 Grass Special, Theodore Activates Cross Pollinate to use Cotton Guard as a free, then Type Refresh as a standard for 2 AP to refresh both moves. Bill gains 5 DR from Type Strategist)

Kai sends out the drilling Pokemon, who whirls around and faces the mecha scizor with a look of confusion and apprehension. "We're gonna try and take that thing out, alright Mahalo?"Said Mole gives a nod, turning it's confusion to a glower as it prepares to fight. Mahalo: 20 Init
Kai applies Brutal Training Orders, and Tinted Lens for 1 AP as a swift.

"I know how a rose blooms, Mister Weed," Nicole comments as the Whimsicott fluffs up and unleashes power on the head. "Just because I work with technology does not mean I am ignorant of the outside world. What I do know is that plants take rather a bit more time to get through to metal." Indeed, the energy striking at the head of the Scizor does seem to leave a bit of a mark... but no more than that. It swivels towards the grass fluff, eyes flashing. "Target Lock Acquired," it states, hovering closer to the Fairy. The head is hit by Energy Ball. It's not very effective... Scizor Locks On to Whimsicott.

"Let's lay down some pain to see how it does!" Kai points at the head, thinking maybe they could disable something important if they mess it up. The mole wastes no time flinging a bunch of rocks up into the air, before they begin raining down upon the mechanical bug. bug unfortunately flutters out of the way, the wings weaving between the rocks. It looks like if things had hit, they'd be fairly fragile, though. "We going for the grounding?" Evelyn asks, looking over at Kai. "Gotcha. Madeline, give it a bad day! Use that spirit!"The Lucario jumps over right up to the wings, and unleashes a point-blank blast of energy at them that shatters the delicate structures, and looks to give feedback directly into the body. The jackal's breathing heavily from the exertion, but gives a grin. "Critical component damage," the machine states, as it abruptly falls to the floor. "Lift Unsustainable. Rerouting power. Target reprioritization."Turning from Whimsicott, it instead swivels to look at the Lucario behind it. Its right pincer ignites with a massive flame, before the appendage slams into the Fighting-Type. It takes the hit surprising well... until the second claw charges up, and a coruscation of electricity wreathes the bot and jumps out at the surrounding fighters. Madeline looks to still barely be standing at the end of the barrage, but Wild Bill takes the mild singing easily, puffing up proudly in defiance. "Defense protocols initiate. Execute uncertainty algorithms." There seems to be a whirring as various parts shift about in the core of the machine, as additional armour plates are extruded, and various mechanisms shift around in the innards of each part. Rock Slide misses the Wings.
Evelyn Tags the Wings and uses Brutal Training. The Wings are destroyed from Aura Sphere. It's super effective! Scizor loses Levitate and its Sky Speed. The Core is Staggered and gains an injury. The Scizor gains +1 Accuracy. Right Arm hits Lucario with Fire Punch. Lucario takes an injury. Lucario is hit by Discharge, uses Endure. Whimsicott takes 17 damage from Discharge. It's not very effective. The Core uses Iron Defense. The Core's Defense rises. The Scizor's Accuracy rises by 2 from Moody. The Scisor's Special Attack falls by 1 from Moody.

"Bill, get closer to Madeline, we're gonna cover her as best we can. May as well whip up a hurricane as we go." Whimsicott whips up an enormous windstorm behind it, tucking its legs in gleefully before rolling and bouncing around the base of the Scizor nearer Madeline. (Theodore binds Pinpoint Strike and issues Brutal Orders. Whimsicott hits the Core, Head, and Right Arm with Hurricane, confusing all three if they can be and dealing 34 Flying Special. Bill provokes by moving.)

Wild Bill's scuttling is met with a punch from one of the arm, but his fluff is very much up to the cushioning task. The strong winds, too, seem to disorient the machine, at least in parts. "Racalibration in progress. Redesignating target." The head snaps to facing Wild Bill. Whimsicott takes 1 damage from Struggle. Head, Core, and Right Arm are all confused from Hurricane. Scizor Locks On to Whimsicott.

"Get some distance. and sharpen your claws while you're at it!" The mole twitters angrily for a moment, dragging it's claws against the machine before jumping back safely, trying to start up the ability to move. Brutal Orders Metal Claw VS Core AC 3 Acc 11 57 Steel Physical

The Excadrill's claws scrape against the newly reinforced metal of the body of the robot, and while it causes a few gouges, they mostly seem to be superficial. "Let's get rid of that fire, eh, Theo?" Evelyn asks, grinning. "I have a feeling your fluff might appreciate that."Gathering up the last of its strength, the Lucario ignites its leg, jumping up and crashing into the arm that shimmers with heat. There's some twisting and denting, but it seems to be in part heat-shielded, and still functional. There are definitely holes in its armour to exploit now, though. "Integrity damaged, initiation cessation of assault," the Scizor says, before slamming its electrified claw into the Lucario, knocking her unconscious. It turns its attention back to the Whimsicott afterwards, a jet of fire burning through the fluff to hit a decidedly unamused Wild Bill. The hurricane from before did seem to dislodge crucial components, causing a bit of a backfire, though those seem to find their way back in place. "Defensive protocols resetting. Dispersing energy buildup. Stand clear of the aperture." A part of the core armour opens up, and a brilliant beam of light emerges, cascading over the Whimsicott - though not flawlessly, as the winds caused some of the core parts to be in the path of the beam. "Rerouting power distribution. Energy deflection shield engage." Some of the power looks to dim from the weaponry, with a slight shimmering sheen of energy appearing on the bot's surface. "Well, looks like Madeline's down first again," Evelyn says, laughing. "I feel like battling anywhere near you guys is bad luck. But, well, Ajax'll be here to support you." She nods, and the Gallade deftly dances in a mid-air release, landing gently. Metal Claw hits the Core. It's not very effective... Lucario hits Right Arm with Blaze Kick. Lucario Faints from Thunder Punch. Whimsicott takes 45 damage and an injury from Flamethrower. Right Arm hurts itself in confusion, and snaps out of it. Whimsicott takes 28 damage from Flash Cannon. (Whimsicott is also at 5 HP otherwise, not 2, as I forgot to include DR in the Discharge calculation Likely more with Enduring Bloom.) Core hurts itself in confusion, and snaps out of it. Scizor gains +2 Special Defense from Moody, and loses 1 Special Attack. Again.

"Dodge that Flamethrower Whimsicott, and we'll go for another Energy Cotton Guard." Theodore cheered as Bill tumbleweeded past the stream of fire and rounded to fire an energy ball at the massive robot's right arm. Another ball of green light is fired, this one bursting brilliantly against its target (Theodore drops Precise Strategem, 53 Grass Special, and Cottonee gains 3 Defense CS from Cross Pollinate Cotton Guard and 5 DR.)

The arm in question begins to spark furiously, but it flexes, showing that it's still functioning. It was a solid blow, and is probably going to take quite some effort to repair. "Critical component state. Initiating sonic disorientation." The Scizor barely finishes its pronouncement before it lets out a horrendous noise of fluctuating frequency. Even with distance and knowing to stick her fingers in her ears ahead of time, Nicole grimaces. Those of whom are closer and unaware are not so lucky, throwing their capability to defend themselves a little bit off. The Right Arm is hit by Energy Ball. It's not very effective... The Head uses Screech. Whimsicott and Excadrill have their Defenses lowered by 2 CS.

The mole wastes no time twisting and turning, getting some distance from it's friends before drilling relentlessly into the ground and letting out tremors in the are around it, trying to wreck the machine. The quakes wrack the machine, leaving the legs buckling and struggling to maintain the full range of movement. The body, too, seems to have issues, but maintains the important structures of itself... at least until the feedback from the fire arm exploding starts fires, which are soon extinguished. There definitely is less of a heat shimmer coming from the mech. "Sweep the legs, Ajax," Evelyn cries, even before the explosions are finished, and the last of the legs' motor functions seen to give out from the sword-arm. The machine's still capable of motion, but much more poorly. "Extreme structural loss. Power re-route. Concentrated strike." Another burst of electricity emanates from the mech, before the head turns its gaze on Wild Bill, shooting several multi-coloured lasers from its eyes. The puffball is hanging on still, but barely. "Defense matrix prioritization in progress." The shimmering shield around the robot seems to take on a different hue, as other systems begin to dim. Legs are hit by Earthquake. It's super effective! Core is hit by Earthquake. It's super effective! Right Arm is destroyed by Earthquake. It's super effective! Core is Staggered. Scizor gains +1 Accuracy and +1 Crit Range. Scizor loses Heatproof. Legs are destroyed by Aerial Ace. It's not very effective... Core is Staggered. Scizor gains +1 Accuracy. Whimsicott takes 13 damage and an injury from Discharge. It's not very effective... Whimsicott takes 28 damage from Tri Attack. Moody: +2 Def, -2 Sp. Atk.

"Ah'm well aware of Grass' limitations, but we'll get on through with plenty of support otherwise. Another Hurricane, Bill." The second windstorm whips up, rattling and shaking the bot, and likely any windows in the building with the sudden change in air pressure. (L. Arm, Head, Core, anything without 4 Special or Speed Evasion takes 48 Flying Special, if it has more, it takes it resisted one step more.)

The limitations show their face once more, as, with the inner components sealed tight... there's really not much the wind can do. Even the damaged sections of the core are only marginally more damaged. "Sealing primary casket. Core component functionality imperative."Hurricane hits Core, Left Arm, Head. It's not very effective... Body uses Iron Defense (because, oops, mixed up its and head's initiatives.)
