Eventually Aaron and Nue make their way to the arena, and he begins with... a Kingler? But... it's completely made out of rock? What the heck is this?

The Kingler thinks for a moment, trying to decide how to deal with this big metal seed. It finally decides on blasting it with mud! Mud Shot AC 3 Ground Special (lowers targets speed by 1 stage) 8wDGhjkO1d20 2d6+30

Nue's Ferrothorn shrugs off another attack. It's already as slow as it can go. Not getting any slower here. Oh, and have some more seeds.

And Kingler falls to the steel type. "Ha, that's pretty metal. I'll show you some more rock, though."He throws out another ball, and what looks like a totem-styled statue of Haunter comes out. That is... until it starts floating! And starts fighting back! Totem Haunter - 20 Ferrothorn feels something dark fall over it! Night Shade! AC 2 Ghost Special (Target loses 28 hp) I2zCwBqo1d20

Okay, that was expected. Special moves like Night Shade obviously work best against tanks like Ferrothorn. Still though...

Well that absurd attack one-shots poor haunter. Aaron looks a bit forelorn (or maybe that's your gm). He decides on another ball, and out comes... a tiny mountain? There's a moment of it sitting there before what looks like a parasect reveals itself under! It slices away! Fury Cutter AC 3 Bug Physical _4qYVpCK1d20 2d6+33

Ferrothorn looks at the Parasect's claw incredulously. Did...it mean to hit the ground in front of it instead of the Pokemon itself? No, no, surely not. If so, however, 'tis a clever ruse indeed. Well, never one to let an opening go unexploited, Ferrothorn swipes at the tiny rock bug with shimmering metal spikes.

Nue is mollified by the fact that at least Mr. Rock Types is not all brute force. Granted, her Pokemon have a certain lack of finesse, but that's primarily because the species in question don't really apply themselves well to it. At best she could find a way to teach some things Thunder Wave. Though perhaps he ought to pay closer attention. Ferrothorn wakes up almost immediately, completely unaffected by the paralyzing spores.1d20

Slicing works decently well, but the Ferrothorn's spiky armor proves painful to hit. (Iron Barbs - attacker loses a Tick of Hit Points)

Hm. Ferrothorn is tough, but certainly not invincible. It can't handle too many more hits. Time, I think, to go for broke. The spiky ball of doom gathers energy in one of its feelers and thwaps the Parasect across the face with all its might.

And that's the third one down. Aaron frowns as he's still facing down the first pokemon. Time for the big guns! He flips his guitar over to the other side... and reveals it as a mega item! He grins as he throws out a Sableye! But instead of gems for eyes, they seem to be obsidian-like stone. And then he activates the Mega Item, and Sableye shines! When it falls, there's a Mega Sableye looking at the steel-type, but instead of a big gem, it's actually a huge Obsidian tower shield it's holding! Mega Sableye - 3 It strikes, and if the seed is still up, does it again! Shadow Claw AC 2 Ghost Physical (Crits on 18+) oUTt8|ps1d20 2d10+32

Nue tilts her head. That's a new one. Oh sure, she's heard of the Mega Evolution thing, but as none of her preferred ninja team can perform it, she never looked much into it. The first clawing attack rakes across the air just to the side of Ferrothorn, who leaned out of the way. The second hit hits straight on, though naturally hurts the Mega Sableye as well. (Iron Barbs! Lose a Tick for daring to strike the Thorny Shield.) The ridiculously tough Pokemon continues to power onward, firing a barrage of seeds at the Ghost that explode on contact.

Hm. That's an unfortunate miss for this Gym Leader. Oh, and a Grass Brace too? Nue is rather surprised his Kingler didn't have one of those, given its double-weakness. It's why Ferrothorn carries a Fire Brace, after all. Well, regardless, it's about time to wrap this up.
