"Self-aware of how limited you are, yet still feeling you can greatly surpass those limitations. It's such an amusing trait. Even when you should have no hope of something, you humans push on against all reason."
"Yeah, well, sometimes it even works..." Rainbow says, quietly.
Yellow doesn't say anything more, just gives a bit of a chuckle and a smile.
"What, you don't want to go in looking like this?" She turns to Bea, teasing. "I'm sure it wouldn't raise any questions."

"Not particularly." His cheeks burn at that. "It was a fun experience but not one I am likely to repeat. At any rate, shy of taking up work for the rest of the day, or going foraging for Pokemon, there doesn't seem to be much going on around Mauville. Onward and upwards I suppose."

The rest of the day passes at a languid pace, with mostly just exploring the streets of Mauville, checking in all the many big and small shops around. It seems like everything can be found here somewhere, and there's a shop dedicated to pretty much anything one could think of. There's certainly some obvious distaste in the air at times for Rainbow, especially compared to Verdanturf, but it's not super overt.
Yellow changes Bea back before checking into the Center, and sleep comes quickly to the group. Well, the humans, at least. No guarantee that Yellow slept at all, since she was certainly awake before anyone else.
During training in the morning, before the Gym, Rainbow asks Bea "So... now that you've had time to mull over your wish yesterday, how was it? I'm curious."

"It was more... In-the-moment then I tend to be. Impulse driven. I appreciated the results more then the execution of the activities themselves because less thought and planning went into it. Then there was the constant distraction to consider, but that particular menace is best left unspoken."
At that she turned beet red and adjusted the collar of her shirt. "Why do you ask? Considering giving it a try yourself?"

"What?" Rainbow seems taken aback, flushing. "No, nonono. I am quite happy how I am. I was just... curious. You seem... much more analytic about things again. ...was the menace worse than the previous one?" she ventures.

"I'd say it wasn't. I do enjoy digesting things as they come along, and these last couple of days have given me a lot to think about that I might not have otherwise had opportunity. Exploration really is my passion." She considered some distant point for a moment. "I'd say I'll have peaked young, but that's only if I stop after solving some great mystery with you."

"Do you need to take some time to slow down and... digest things?" Rainbow asks. "Or are you fine as-is? Because we can take our time... there's no rush. Also," she adds, "I don't know if there's exactly any 'great mystery' to be solved here. We've kinda solved all the questions I had before, with regards to the yellow star and such."

"Truth be told, when I started my Pokemon journey, being the strongly encouraged coming of age trial that it is, I was less then enthused and just wanted to get it over with. Now that I have you and Yellow along, it is less lonely field work and more a trip with friends." She combed her fingers through her hair. "I also need to politely disagree. Yellow's abilities are powerful, likely key even, but if there is anything experimenting with wishes has taught me, phrasing is extremely important. What wish, and when, then, saves your future. What waits for us in Mossdeep? So many unanswered questions and I am just... so excited." She was quite flush. "I promise I'm taking things at my pace."

"Ah, okay, I see. Just didn't want you to think we had to rush through things," Rainbow says. "And... I guess you're right. I was just assuming we'd find what we needed in Mossdeep, and then head back to fish for the world to be fixed. Easy enough, in theory. But… I guess there might be more than that. Especially with regards to Yellow."
"Hello, I'm right here," the Jirachi says. "Don't need to talk about me like I can't hear you. I can. More than you probably realize." He winks at Bea.
"Oh, uh... oops, sorry. So, uh, then what wish needs to be made?"
"Hell if I know. I don't even really know what things're like. And it's your species' job to come up with that stuff. Not mine."
Rainbow sighs. "Ah... I see. So... I guess it really might not go well, then?" she glances nervously at Bea.

"My point was," Bee smiled slyly at Yellow. "That good intentions can only carry us so far. There is no sense in stressing over possible outcomes for two reasons. The first is the possible outcome you want averted has already occurred. This is just an abstract form of damage control at this point, and there's little we can do to make that future situation worse. The second, is that the variables are exponential over a period of time spanning twenty lifetimes after mine will naturally end. If I were to spend a day considering each, we'd never get anywhere. Preparedness, planning, resourcefulness, information, strength, luck, and a little wishing too."
At that her smile grew. "In science, some of the greatest discoveries come from failures."

"I'm not trying to avert anything..." Rainbow says. "It probably wouldn't work. Not from what I know. I just want to fix it from the point that I left. To make sure we have a better future. There's no point trying to fix what could have been, especially if it meant I no longer existed to fix things. We have to live with the fact that no one person can fix everything..."
"Other than that," she laughs a little, "I got, like, half of the words you were trying to say. You're too smart for me."

"The short is, that in my field, many attempts at innovation, at making something new or impressive, revolutionary, end in failure. Of these attempts, many yield new paths and discoveries. New technologies and practices. If our first attempt to fix your future doesn't work, maybe it will teach us something that will at least help."

"Ah, I see..." Rainbow says. "Well, I'd like to hope that things work out the first time. Because, well, I can't really see anything else that could help." She shrugs. "But, hey, maybe you could find something. You've been doing most of everything so far anyways."

"Time will tell I guess. Not enough facts for the time being." Recalling her Pokemon from their training activities, she considered the weather for a moment. "I know Yellow isn't real keen on the league, but I feel the need to continue to dutifully challenge it. Can't fall short when it matters, not after the last scare. If you're interested in watching, feel free, or maybe the two of you could hang out?" She added awkwardly.
"If you're okay with it anyway." She added to Yellow.

"I'll keep watching," Rainbow says. "Uh, at the very least, it'll be cheering you on? Unless you don't want me there, that is. If that's what you're trying to diplomatically suggest."
Yellow looks up at Bea. "Look," he says, simply. "It's a part of human culture. I want no part in it, I would prefer to not be around it, because the thought of being confined and beholden to another is not something that I feel comfortable with. We Jirachi, our power is not to be commanded. We are free spirits. Not like others, who lend their power to those they deem worthy for some reason or another. I will not stop you from participating, nor ask you to. And I speak for none but myself in this matter. Is that understandable?"

"I was asking if you wanted Rainbow's company so you could bond or whatever, I get you don't like the battling thing and why, that was never up for debate." Bee quirked an eyebrow. "The two of you don't exactly get along the best, if I'm to be un-diplomatically frank. I'm not great with people social things. Or Pokemon-People. Or Pokemon, I guess." She heaved a sigh and shook her head.
"I'm glad to have someone cheering me on Rainbow, just don't feel obligated." Giving the pair a wave, she excused herself.

"How anyone feels about me is, quite frankly, irrelevant," Yellow says, shrugging. "I'll be around a lot longer than any of you - any irritation on the part of anyone else is but a momentary blip in the grand scheme of things. I don't really care one way or the other."
"You could show some empathy," Rainbow mutters.
"Again, it does not behoove me to get attached to anyone or anything. I'm appreciative of you for taking care of me while I was in my egg, but... the world changes. I feel that deeply. Attachments are temporary. One will always fade."
Rainbow just sighs as she walks off with Bee, muttering but not actually saying anything.
Upon reaching the Gym, it seems like a bright, energetic place, right next to a TV studio and everything. There's a hustle around, eye-catching colours and several pictures of the young lady that's presumably the Gym Leader in various outfits and backdrops. "Ellis" is what the banners say on them, and she has a whole plethora of Pokémon altogether, in all different shapes and sizes. There's really no indication as to what this Gym might be.
The reception area is much more like an actual reception than any of the other Gyms that Bea's been in so far. The young lady behind the desk waves happily over at Bea and Rainbow. "Hi, hi, welcome to the Mauville Gym. You both challenging? Oh, just one? Alright, well, I do have to make sure that you have six Pokémon before you enter, and also you'll need to give me your size for fitting, and also do you have anything of your own that you're wanting to bring in?" She smiles, as though expecting Bea to know exactly what was said.

"I... Pardon me?" Bee blinks a few times, taken aback. Six pokemon in a gym round was almost unheard of, as to why they would need her size doubly so. "I'm a size eight I think? Why... Why is that relevant?" She sets her six Pokemon team on the counter for verification.
Every challenge was supposed to be different, but what was -this-?

"Oh, uh, oops," the girl says. "I've had so many people from in-town recently that I forgot that not everyone knows how this all works."
"So, this is a fashion Gym. You and your Pokémon dress up, and just put on a spectacle. How you do compared to how your opponent looks determines how well you do. So if you do a cute attack, and your opponent looks tough or cool, you'll do good. But if they're beautiful or smart looking, it won't do as much. It's simple! And your own size is needed to make sure we know what stuff we pull out for you to choose from to battle in. Make sure it's a good one, because you keep it if you win!" The girl grins.
"So, does that make sense? If not ask away. We want you to be prepared for when you have to take on Miss Dee."

"I... I think I've heard of this... It's a variant on contests, right?" Bee touched her barette, which was her favorite accessory. "I guess if I only get to bring one thing, it'll have to be my glasses. I... Don't imagine I will do well at a fashion battle, but I can try at least."
She was very clearly nervous, her face turning a shade of red to match the frames of her glasses. Dressup? With Pokemon? That was terribly impractical, and time consuming... Wouldn't the clothing get damaged? Even worse -she- had to dress up too?!
