Chapter 2 - Nobody Said It'd Be Easy

After dropping off his pokemon, Zach hurries over to the Contest Hall to check out the signup sheet. He'd never been in a Contest before... And looking at Evelyn's moves, she'd be best for a cute contest! He was curious how it all worked, anyway.

Adri gives her team to the Nurse Joy on duty (bar Geoffrey) and then spends a free hour training and grooming Geoff, Isra, Irm and the new Nidoran who she decided to name Gaia.

She kept the four and retrieved Suzanne and the Roggenrola before heading to the stated trade location for the Sturdy Pokemon.

Danny and Connor sort out where they're staying for the night and turn in for a while. Zach, following directions from the Joy, makes his way to the northern side of town. He passes beside a bakery, but it is closing down for the evening. Around the corner from it though there is a fairly large building painted in red and white and proudly displaying the contest logo. Next to it he seems a large plot of land marked for construction, but currently the ground is just being dug up and flattened so it must be early stages yet. Once inside he sees a desk for registration. There are some people milling around but it doesn't seem like anything is going on today. Large screens on two of the walls are displaying past contest highlights, flipping from a Vivilion turning the audience silver to a rotom causing a rain of sparks and then to an Onix appearing to juggle itself by spinning in place vertically, and then keeps flipping through more scenes. Once he reaches the receptionist she tells him that there are still a few places left in the competitions tomorrow. A Rainbow Contest will be going but they are still accepting applicants and the 5 contestants will be drawn tomorrow. There are also some smaller normal contests to be carried out, and there are smo slots still open in some of those.
Adri is lucky, the trader is not far from the pokémon center, and given the time she finds him at home. He's wearing an apron over all black, and appears to have only just arrived home when you knock on his door. Still, he seems glad someone has answered his trade ad.

Adri approaches the trader.

"Hello, about a trade ad?"

Adri looks thoughtful at the mention of carrying things.

"I'm not sure if it can carry things as of now but it should if you evolve it. You see, I caught a Roggenrola back at the tunnel near Siennaridge. I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, but I can release it and show you if you want"

Adri nods.

"Roggenrola evolve into Boldore, which are far bigger and should be able to carry a lot of weight. They look sort of like a big rock table from what I remember"

Adri looks at the man and gives him a smile.

"If you think that's good enough? I'll even help you train it until you get the hang of it and groom your Pokemon as a small bonus"

Adri nodded and quickly exchanged pokeballs with the man. She then moved to look at the Abra.

"I'll be your new trainer from now on. I'm glad to have you in my team. Now I'll have to put you up for a bit so, be good?"

She said, and then recalled the Abra.

Turning to the man she gave him another disarming smile.

"Good luck with the Roggenrola, mister! I hope you have a good day!"

Zach had just finished helping a rather surprised chef make dinner, and brought out bowls for himself and Adri. He sets them on the table, leaning back in his seat with a grin.

"So I just signed up for a Super Contest thing. I'm looking forward to it tomorrow. Should we wake the others?"

Zach nods, and heads upstairs to try to wake the sleepers.

"There's food downstairs, if you guys are hungry. Also a contest tomorrow if you're interested."
