Imagine, if you will, a verdant island filled with lush forests and tall mountains. A land of beautiful summers and snowy winters. A land where even the youngest must bond with a partner to ensure safe travel throughout it. A place where the gods actively answer prayers – and sometimes meddle in the affairs of mortals. This is the Eidola Region. Of course, to its inhabitants, it is simply Eidola. They know of no others that exist… and perhaps none may. But no one who has searched for any land beyond Eidola has ever returned. That doesn’t stop fanciful storytellers from imagining life beyond, but those are simply tales. Myths. Much less real than the stories of the Gods. The Gods that are the driving force in Eidola. The stories are still being told today of those who were chosen by the Gods, and the deeds they accomplished. It matters not whether it was for good or ill, for they have attained the greatest honour in the region – to be remembered. There is a peculiar drive behind many of the inhabitants. They seek to leave their mark in some way. Most do not accomplish this. But, every generation, there are a select few who are destined for great things. Even if they don’t know it…
This is a world in a lot of ways like our own, at a similar state of technological advancement, relatively similar layouts of cities, and so forth. However, technology has taken a different turn, different breakthroughs have been made. They key one is that much of our world’s machinery has been replace by the true gift of the Gods: Pokémon. Power is supplied not by crude burning of things, but by electric types, or steam produced by fire and water types. Fire types produce heat, there are plenty of strong Pokémon for manual labour, and fast ones for transportation. Another difference is a strong sense of the divine. Miracles do exist. Not often, but they occur. Gods have been known to walk the mortal world. And there are those in every generation who are chosen by them to accomplish great thing. Which is a good thing. Because the world can be a lot more dangerous place than ours.
But what happens when a world that takes divinity for granted... suddenly begins to lose it?
Welcome, Trainer, to the wonderful world of Pokémo- Oh, wait. Wrong spiel, sorry. Let me start again. And skip all the flowery language this time.
The Premise: So what are you doing traipsing about in this wonderful world? Well, just before the campaign begins, the region of Eidola, which has enjoyed the benefits of active gods since the beginning, has suddenly stopped receiving their benediction. At the same time, all of your characters receive a dream, telling them to come to the summit of Mount Radiance. None of them know why, or what it is about. That will all be uncovered during the campaign.
The World: This contains more details about the Eidola region. You will find a small blurb about each city, but I encourage you to develop anyting else as part of your characters. If anything is too out of place, I'll let you know, but other than that, I want some player input. Even if you don't make it in, I'll probably incorporate some of your ideas in somewhere.
The Pantheon: This document contains more information on the Eidolic version of the Legendary Pantheon. Now, you'll notice that there are a lot of changes, primarily in organization. Unless otherwise mentioned, though, you can assume that the Legendaries are fairly similar to the descriptions in the Blessed and the Damned. Ask me about any other details you might want to know about them, and I'll happily share any commonly-known info. I'm sure that I've missed many things.
Character Creation: Now this is the meat of the matter. I'm sure you skimmed most of that blahblahblah and came here before reading those documents. Anyways, on to the important stuff:
- You will start as a Level 5 trainer, with 2 Level 20 Pokémon. No Legendaries or pseudo-legends permitted.
- Each Pokémon is Permitted to have a single Egg or Tutor Move at no cost, as inheritance. This will follow the September Playtest Packet rules.
- All playtest Packets will be in effect.
- All material from Core, Game of Throhs, and the Playtest Packets is Permitted. Blessed and Damned material will be available at some point, but not from the beginning (exception below). Do Porygon Dream of Mareep is banned. I'm wanting a bit more of an emphasis on the supernatural in this one.
- All Players start with a single instance of the Touched Edge for free, of a single Legendary of the Eidolic Pantheon of their Choice. (If you really want to make a Touched of Deoxys, I'll come up with something... but please don't make me. )
- Players will be allowed 5000 in starting cash, plus any equipment required for their class. You will be considered to have the supplies to survive in the wild for free, though.
What you should expect: I won't mince words, this is going to be a more narratively focused game than my last one, which was a gym crawl. You won't be fighting as many battles, or catching too many Pokémon (although, there will always be some opportunities). This game will also move at a slower pace than my other one, so that I don't become too overwhelmed, but I'll expect one post from everyone at least every two days. Also note that Pokémon experience will also be gained through story progression, and not just battling, so don't be afraid of your party never getting to higher levels.
What I expect: Basically, outlined above. I'm looking for three players who want to roleplay more than roll-play (although there will be a mix of both), and who enjoy a bit more of a freeform system. There will be an overarching plot, but you can try and accomplish that any way you see fit, and I want players who are willing to be versatile. And not just solve every problem by punching it in the face. The deadline for applications for this is going to be Friday the 8th of January, at 8:00 PM PST. That gives you one week from the site's opening.
To be added to the Skype group just PM me with your Skype name, or post it in the thread, whichever you prefer.
Okay, I think that's it. If I've forgotten anything, you can post it in the thread and I'll edit it into the main post here, down at the bottom.

Here's my Application with Jin the Not-so-legendary hero. Any feedback or such is greatly appreciated (though you are likely gonna have an easier time reaching me through skype, im still acclimating to the new forum.) Jin Cassius, the Unlikely HeroSome of Jin's earliest memories are of his home in a small glade in deep in the forest to the northwest of Deepgrove. Why or how he ended up there he never knew but as a child he was cared for by a kind Altaria that took him under her wing for reasons he never understood. When he was young he would climb trees and move about the thick branches above the floor, gathering berries to eat, and though he rarely ran into the more dangerous denizens of the forest they always seemed content to leave him be. Whenever he had the time he would go to a small stone shrine that was built in the hollow of a tree near where he slept. This shrine was where he could find his favorite playmate, a small fairy-like pokemon that he later learned was named Celebi. Whenever he had the chance Jin and Celebi would play and explore the forest, though in Celebi's case she never seemed surprised by what they found or excited when she find something herself. When Jin was only a few years older than a kindergardner he made friends with a Turtwig, which he used to play with when Celebi was away. Over the years the Turtwig and Jin became close friends and Jin named him Cedar, after a type of tree he had heard about when wandering too close to town one day. As Jin became a young teen Cedar would help him to grow plants by breaking up the earth for him to plant berry plants. As Jin got older he slowly filled his grove with more and more Berry plants until he eventually had no need to go foraging for food anymore, instead opting to explore or gather materials to expand the shelter he had built. One day when Jin had come back from foraging for Apricorns he found Cedar in combat with a living sword like one he had once seen a hunter carry, only this one seemed to exude a twisted, painful energy that he could somehow feel. Rushing forwards to help his friend he did the only thing he could think to do at the time. As the sword readied itself to strike Jin grabbed the handle, but as the sword writhed in his grasp he could feel it draining him, leaving him weaker and weaker until something that had been pulled up from inside him flowed into the blade. Immediately the sense of malice and pain Jin had felt vanished as the blade began grow more ornate, going from the plain broken sword he had first seen to a pristine work of art. The blade calmed in his grasp and felt, somehow right. Like he was meant to hold it. Shocked out of his reverie by the groans of his injured friend Jin tossed the sword aside as he rushed to pull some healing berries, Oran for energy and Lum to cure ailments, from the surrounding plants and quickly began to feed them to Cedar. Cedar slowly regained his strength after that day but for a long time he was weak and he still carries scars from where the sword, a magical living blade now named Gram, struck him. Jin quickly found that Gram had become attached and somehow their souls had been bound together, leading Jin to take the errant blade in. One day, when Jin was about 14, Celebi stopped visiting. Day after day Jin waited for her to come, through howling rain and freezing cold, but she never came. Until one night, he had a dream of her calling him to Mount Radiance. The next day Jin crafted a pair of Friend Balls from some of his green apricorns and packed away an Oran Plant into a portable grower he had stolen from Deepgrove. He gathered some berries he thought might be useful and set out on his journey to find what had happened to his missing friend.

Hey Shadow, I got a gift for you! Here's an app! Celeste Cassidy is here to well... do whatever she does! Lemme know if you have any feedback, character or mechanics. Who knows, I've spent so much time on this sheet and changed it so much there's probably something wrong somewhere.

I mean, Christmas was about a week ago but if we're giving out gifts just willy-nilly than here's Royce Walton, the eager researcher out to answer one simple question. Hope you all like it, and if you see anything wrong with him than just give me a shout.

Well, here's my app: Franklin Gale. Background: 15 years ago, a great storm buffeted the coast near Duskhaven, raging on for hours on end, wind howling, rains tormenting the city and the sky seemingly non-stop alight with bolts of lightning, great cracks of thunder shattering windows. Few went out that day, and few dared to go outside even the day after, afraid that the winds might pick up again and the natural, or rather, divine - as they knew a storm this harsh could not be natural - unlsaught would continue. As such, it took until late in the afternoon untill someone found the young boy, barely three years old, stranded on the beach, apparently washed up during the storm. The people who found him, some beachcombers, brought him, still unconscious, to the hospital, where he was admitted with a high fever and raised heartbeat. When they tried to hook him up to a heart monitor, the machine was fried the moment it was turned on. Though intrigued by this minor disaster, the medics set about fixing at least the boy's fever, leaving his heartbeat for what it was. When his temperature dropped to normal levels, they checked his pulse again, figuring that mayybe the fever caused his increased heartrate. However, his heart was still racing, and they applied medicine and observed him for a few days. In these dayshis heartrate only decreased a little, still well above the normal level, but the boy didn't seem to suffer, so eventually they released him, making sure that he would return within the next few months for a checkup. When they released him, he was sent to the nearest orphanage, as he had no known relatives, heck, he hadn't awoken yet and they didn't actually know his name. As such, the boy, barely older than a toddler, awoke in a strange room, accompanied by a strange woman, with no recollection of how he got there or of ... well, anything, really. Naturally, he was scared. And through this fear, he instinctively reached for anything to protect him. What he found was ... shocking, really. He lashed out and filled the room with electrical energy, hitting the strange woman in the process. Luckily for her, the wave of electricity was barely stronger than a static shock, and all it did was give her a mild sting and raise her hair. Still, it startled the woman, though not as much as could be expected, as she was told what had happened in the hospital with the electronical equipment. The woman, the matron of the orphanage, calmed the boy down enough so that they could have a normal conversation. She tried to get some information about himself from the boy, but wound with nothing, the boy having no memories from before the storm, and all he remembered from that was ""water, water everywhere while lighted and booming..."" which wasn't particularly useful. As he couldn't even remember his name, the two of them came up with several until they found one that worked. The boy would from now on be known as Franklin Gale, as he was found in one of the worst storms in a decade or so. Franklin's childhood from this point on was mmostly normal, or at least as normal as possible for an amnesiac orphan with lightning powers. He spent a good deal of time on his own, trying to better control and improve his powers. This constant charge and discharge of electricity attracted the attention of the nearby Electric Type Mon, who would often come around and see what was happening while Franklin was training. After some time, Franklin noticed that he could sense the Mon coming long before he could see or hear them, like some small voice whispered in his ear that an Electric Type was approaching. There wasn't much he could do with this info, so he filed it away for later use. One of the Mon that appeared more regularly than the others was a young Blitzle. Franklin, notcing this, tried to get to know the zebra//horse better, and the two quickly became friends. This friendship was partially based on a mutual agreement that they would help each other get stronger. The Blitzle would show Franklin how to properly use his powers, and in return the boy would train the Blitzle, who he had called Sleipnir, the same way he had seen several older boys at the orphanage do. He seemed quite proficient at this, and the Blitzle was quickly growing stronger. Franklin interacted little with the other children at the orphanage, preferring to stick to himself and Sleipnir. As the other kids tended to avoid him, something about him that scared them all off, which seemed to grow stronger as his powers increased. This suited Franklin just fine, and he and Blitzle spent most of their time outside, enjoying all opportunities a storm was out to just sit outside and experience the raw force of nature (or the gods, depending on the severity). It was during one of these storms that Franklin found his second partner, a Tympole that was enjoying rain as much as they were. The tadpole quickly joined Franklin's team, and he called him Poseidon. Again, Franklin trained the Mon, and both him and Sleipnir were strengthening quite quickly, Poseidon even evolving into an Palpitoad. Some time ago, Franklin noticed the superstorms were getting sparser and sparser, until they completely stopped. Sure, it still stormed with the usual intervals, but the large, divine wrath level superstorms had suddenly just ... stopped. Although he found this curious, there was little he could do about it and he just let it go. Untill, that is, one night he received a dream, telling him to head to Mount Radiance.

static.zerochan.net/Esmeralda.(Notre.Dame).full.973982.jpg Here's the application, finally. I wrote a lot more than I thought I would. Might tidy it up here and there but otherwise it's done. Elizabeth Delisle, the Passionate Dreamer. Touched by Tajirem. Also, down below is the full backstory if you don't want to click for the file. I'll probably clean this up a bit more but that's pretty much it. Aside from that, critiques will be appreciated. Even if it's just grammar. xP Somewhere Only You Know Having left at the tender age of 18, what Elizabeth had thought to be a simple task became difficult as the weeks, months and years progressed. Her life had changed so drastically but not in the way she had intended. Her mother had told her she had been gifted, Touched, by the gods to connect with others. However, in the last five years, that connection had not helped her, her prayers seemingly being left unanswered. For five long years, she had lived in Azure Cove, trudging through the grind of the bustling tourist town. She had worked as a waitress, a mail courier, a janitor, a window washer, a cashier and just about any odd job she could find to supplement the meager savings she had brought with her from Sandsedge and all the while auditioning for role after role in an endless contest with others. Estranged from her family, there was very little she could do in terms of finding support, especially from her father who had wanted her to stay and tend to the Skiddos and Gogoats they raised in their farm instead of following what he had called a ‘foolish dream’. For many nights had they argued. Iris was often the one who calmed her down with her sweet serene smile when their rows would become extremely vocal and personal. It was after one such argument that she had finally made her choice. With a hastily packed saddle bag and without a word to no one, she had left with her Pokémon, leaving the dusty earth of Sandsedge behind. All she ever wanted to do was to dazzle, to soak in the stage light’s of Azure Cave’s famed Azure Amphitheatre and be someone, anyone, that her role needed her to be. It was her dream to act, dance and sing her way into the hearts of the populace of Eidola since she was a child as there was no better honour than to be remembered as someone who was worthwhile, someone who had a life worth looking up to. And she had been nearly there. Her dream to be a star had nearly been within her grasp that she could have almost felt the heat of the lights cascading down upon her and the echoes of the crowds chanting her name, Elizabeth Delisle, when she had first walked across that faithful stage. The wooden floor of the stage had felt cool, her bare feet tentatively testing the surreality of the smooth ground beneath her. When she had arrived at her apartment door the evening before, her tired mind frazzled and body drained, the last of what she had expected was to find a charming middle aged-man in a well dressed suit offering her everything that she had been striving for, a starring role in a major production. It was only as understudy to the much more prolific performer, Kirsten Diance, but the possibility of performing to such a large audience had left her speechless the moment he said ‘cast’. Standing there in the expanse of the empty theatre, she had thought then that her prayers to the Gods were seemingly answered. Sadly, that had not been the case. The man who had offered her the role was nowhere to be found. There was no part for her to play, only embarrassment for showing up to a rehearsal she was not a part of. With a dejected expression, she had left quickly, wanting to curse the man for having tricked her. However, as she would soon find, that was the least of her worries. Her apartment had been torn asunder, wrecked for all its valuables. Her eyes couldn’t believe it. Her Pokémon couldn’t believe it. Everything she had ever owned had either been taken or tossed onto the floor carelessly by whomever had besieged her space. She felt angry, violated and, most of all, alone. Her family wouldn’t be able to help her. She had little in the way of friends because all of the odd jobs she did. And her prayers meant little to the eyes of the Gods. At that moment, all of her sadness and turmoil of the day had crashed down upon her. Openly did she grieve on how her life had turned out to be. She wept and wept until she could no longer do so, crying herself to a slumber surrounded by Artemis and Iris. When before she dreamt of flashing lights and colourful sounds of Azure, only the dark empty space of her mind greeted her, caressing her in her grief. In the darkness, she had allowed herself to drift, wanting nothing more than to stay in its shroud and be kept away from the joke that had become her life. A pained smile came over her as she tried to laugh her pain away, hoping that everything that had happened had been but a sick nightmare brought on by some bad Chili Dog that she had eaten. Somewhere in the darkness, someone had echoed her laughter.
“If... you wish perfection, completeness… I... shall mold you. Come… to Mount Radiance…” The darkness had shattered around her, allowing her to fall into the whiteness of space as a looming figure watched her scream. With a startled gasp, she awoke, a coldness seeping into her despite the warmth of her Pokémon. That was how she found herself now, strapping what little of her stuff remained on Artemis side as Iris watched her with a concerned look. She remembered little of how the figure looked in her dream but she remembered its laughter. At that time, fear had gripped her heart, making her unable to see and hear whom had contacted her in her dream. But she knew. She knew which God had summoned her. And she would not allow herself to disappoint the Goddess of Performance.

Trava Newman, the Deteriorating
Background: Trava's parents were simple and humble people, who believed in hard work and labour as a means to get by. His father worshipped Suicune, and his mother Entei. Together they decided to settle down in Darkmire due to a recent recruitment drive for the purification plant. The hours were long, and the pay low but his parents worked hard at it anyway, and eventually had a child. Though perhaps due to the toxic environment the child was sickly, and wasn't expected to last very long. During this time a froakie that would often be seen around the facility took a liking to Trava, and eventually became his first friend. The doctors tried various treatments and tests, all the while his parents worked harder at their jobs, cutting back on meals and working hard to afford the medical bills. The child however, ended up living beyond its estimated time, and some tests were run on his blood. What they found was that rather than white blood cells Trava had a cocktail of toxic substances in his veins acting to help regulate his body. The treatments meant to ease him were removing the toxins because in a normal child they would be toxic. Treatments were stopped and they asked the parents if they would be allowed to run some tests, they were curious if this was a natural, or supernatural phenomena and were eager to discover if this was an act of science or of deities. His parents however politely refused, but fearing they would take their child anyway moved to Duskhaven where they resumed simple lives as miners.
Trava grew up here, living a mostly normal life. The poor air quality was good for his health, and the dim lightning didn't irritate his pale skin. At first he was curious why he always seemed to be sick, but after some clumsy explanations realized he was just a little bit different than other children, but he didn't seem to mind. When he was in elementary school he found that his saliva and blood was able to melt certain materials and that by holding his breath and exhaling a smog would come out. Excitedly he showed this off to his parents and teachers, getting scolded for it and being put under more careful watches. This led to him sneaking around or coming up with stories to tell adults so he wouldn't get in trouble. He often spent his time in the mines with his now Frogadier, Cyanide (He decided on the name after hearing one of the scientists say it, and decided that he liked the word.) After repeated trips he ran into a Spinarak who had also been hiding, and over time it joined him as well. He named it Anthrax and the three had often been seen together from that moment on. As he grew and developed he spread out his studies, knowing that when he grew up he wouldn't be able to endure the mines and instead focused on academics. By the time he was a teenager he decided that all things were in a perpetual state of decline until they hit their end, and began studying Eidola's deities. He quickly found and became attached to the philosophy of Zygarde, studying related works in his spare time. He was overjoyed when a dream came to him as a young adult, summoning him to the mountain. He thanked his parents and told them that it was time to head out and that he would be home again. He gathered up some supplies, and set out with his pokemon companions, thinking that he might finally meet Zygarde and ask as many questions as he could.

Here is Selina Trant, a dark priestess of Rayquaza who believes the dream she saw was a sign from Lady Rayquaza herself. So if the gods are losing dominion then she will be the wrathful storm to clear the skies again in the Lady's place.

Here is Blake Ciar, the Dark Survivalist. Backstory Blake moved to Deepgrove as a young child with his parents and his baby Sneasel Umbrial, looking for riches and sucess. However a year into moving to town the family was broke and about to be kicked out of their small aparment and left on the street. A couple days later Blake returned home from playing with Sneasel to find that his parents were gone and their apartment was trashed, with small splashes of blood in several places. He waited for days but after a while the landlord came to kick him out and his parents still hadn't returned, so steeling his nerves Blake gathered together what things he could, a couple blankets, some food, and a spare potion that hadn't been taken. He made it to the edge of the city, using the shadows and his natural stealth to avoid anyone who would try to take advantage of a young child all alone, he then set up a small camp several kilometers outside of the city to use while he tried to find his parents. Six years later Blake is still waiting, but he has changed from a worried young child to an experienced survivalist who is more at home in the wilds then in a city, he thrives on the challenge of surviving in the wild. Using just his wits and natural skills, his stealth and guile, to survive where others have failed. Over the last couple months Blake has started to feel a strong wanderlust overtake him along with an overwhelming curiosity about not only his own abilities but what could have happened to his parents and the possible criminal aspects in the country ruining everything for others as it may have for him. With his ever present Sneasel with him Blake has started to wander for long periods of time through the forerst, adventuring around and making friends with the local dark types, and gaining a new friend in Loki the Sableye, and looking for challenges to test his skills. Not to long ago Blake had a vivid dream of Lord Darkrai, the legendary that Blake prayed to and held in reverence for its mastery both over the dreams of man and the elusive and subtle power of darkness, telling him to travel to Mt. Radiance. Description Blake is a mid-sized sixteen year old. He has black hair and dark grey eyes that are always moving, always traking those around him. He wears all black clothing from the thick black cargo pants held up by his black belt on which is a small satchel, to his heavy black hoodie with the black t-shirt underneath. The only exception to this are his brown leather boots with the soft leather soles to minimize the amount of noise that he makes while walking. Blake can almost always be seen with a pack hanging over one shoulder, the pack contains eerything he owns and needs to survive and he always makes sure that everything he has can fit into that single mid-sized pack.

My bad. I believe I changed it for public viewing. Also I'll pm you my skype. Again my bad. Umm... did you make that sheet yourself? because it appears to be all sorts of broken, and also Sneasel can only learn 6 moves unless you have an ability which raises the cap, which i couldn't find on your sheet.

Yeah. I'm sorry, but that sheet is all kinds of broken. You're going to have to make a new one, as that is...really hard to read. And also does have some errors, such as the aforementioned Sneasel having 7 moves.

Ya I can fix the Sneasel thing but can you be more specific then "all sorts of broken"? Do you mean the equations that I took out?

Ya I can fix the Sneasel thing but can you be more specific then "all sorts of broken"? Do you mean the equations that I took out? Yes. All of the auto-calculations are completely broken. There are error messages in places around the sheet.
In 'happier' news: Work decided to lengthen my shift, so you all have until whenever I wake up on the Saturday to get your sheets in. Because I sure as heck am not making a decision at close to midnight.
So, yeah. I'll say the new deadline is going to be 8:00 AM on Saturday January 9th. I'll be making my decisions by the end of the day.

Huh that's weird I don't see any errors on my version... I'll try to sort that out. If it doesn't work then consider my sheet withdrawn since I don't have the time to make up another one since classes just started for me.
