While unable to see anything from the ground, flying up a ways lets Skye spot glints of light coming from a tiny indent in the rock face. A Skarmory nest! Woops...guess you just caught Mama Skarmory. There are two babies making noise in there, from the looks of things.

Skye, very carefully, flies the nest back to the Ranch, then lets the Mama Skarmory out of the ball to take care of her babies.

Mama Skarmory is quite indignant at the sudden change of scenery, but her not-yet-independent babies are here, so...it's alright. Just no more touchies! Once babies are independent she doesn't care, but until then, no touchies!

Skye readily agrees, telling Mama Skarmory that she only moved the nest this time because it was near a human travel route, which could cause problems for both humans and the babies, before heading back to Pewter.
It was time for Skye's first Gym challenge.

Juri smirks as she recalls her Pokemon. "Absolutely. Smart of you to know your limits. Come on, I'll take ya out of here." She then proceeds to do exactly that. She navigates to a secret door hidden behind a sand dune and takes Skye back to the front of the Gym. "Come on back whenever you feel up to it again."

Hanging out at the 'beach' south of Pallet Town, Skye quickly finds that the only things that fly around here are Wingull. Well, that's what she thinks right up until something washes ashore. The Pokedex says it's Mantyke, the pre-evolution to Mantine.

Skye makes her way over to the Mantyke. "Hey, are ya alright? Ya lost or somethin'?" She asks concerned. She didn't know much about Mantykes of Mantines, but it seemed to her that they don't normally come to shore like this.

Skye, seeing that the Mantyke isn't adverse to contact, picks it up and continues petting it. "Who's a little cutie! You are! Yes, you are!" Skye says, forgetting that she isn't alone with it. "I'd love for you to travel along with me! We can go on adventures and meet all kinds of new people and Pokemon and it'll be great!" She says, fantasizing about about her and her cute Pokemon skipping through a field of flowers.

Mantyke looks at you curiously. It's kinda slimy now that you're done gushing over its cuteness. Then again, lots of water-Pokemon are slimy when you touch them. It seems to want to get back into the water. As such, it worms its way free of your grasp and literally floats through the air back into the water. It doesn't leave, just settles contentedly into the water to keep watching the weird human.
