Aha! Yes, this time it is open. Oh hey, most of the people wearing the Gym colors look alike. Not perfectly alike, thank Arceus, but like...similar features. Dark skin, white hair, almost unnatural grace. That sort of thing. One of these people, the one behind the desk filling out paperwork, smiles at Skye as she approaches.
"Welcome to the Pewter City Gym! As I assume you are here to issue a challenge, did you want a Standard or an Advanced Challenge?" Desk girl asks.

"I'll take the Advanced Challenge!" Skye declares confidently.

Desk girl nods, and explains how Pewter Gym works. All you need to do (regardless of which challenge you undertake) is to make it through a 'survival challenge'. You must navigate a miniature desert inside the Gym within 24 hours. Yes, it's a very generous time-frame. After 12 hours, a Gym Member will come to find you and make sure you're alright. They won't help you, but they won't hinder you either.
Once the explanation is over, Skye is brought by a different Gym Member to the aforementioned indoor desert. Once inside, the door leading back to the front of the Gym is locked behind her. Kaede and Rosa, not being Trainers, let alone Challengers, will not be accompanying her on this. They will be brought to the observation area if they want to watch Skye's challenge.
Skye and/or a single Pokemon of her choosing, must roll Survival and Perception (6 each) to navigate the first portion of the desert.

Skye is easily able to avoid all the silly Trapinch holes and other pitfalls. However, Tenacity keeps getting them all turned around. At this point, Skye and Tenacity have no idea where either exit is. They do run into a wall at some point, but somehow they lose it in the sand dunes.
Another set of six!

While wandering around, Skye accidentally steps in a few of the Trapinch holes that she didn't see quite in time. (Lose two Ticks of HP; one for each missed hole) That said, Tenacity is able to guide her a little better than before. She even found a person! Wait... that may or may not be a good thing.
Said person flashes Skye a grin. "Hey! I see you made it! Took you awhile, but that's not surprising. You're about midway through your trial. Beat me in a Double Battle, and I'll give you directions to the final stretch. Lose to me, and you're on your own."

After getting her Pokemon healed, Skye sets out for the area south of Pallet town, aiming for the beach area.
