When the third ball fails to contain the beast, Mayu's Pokemon finish them off. A blue text box appears, stating that you won. Obviously. It also claims your Pokemon gained "XP"...whatever the hell that is. Victory! Gain 90 Poke XP.

These boxes are much too absurd for Mayu to deign to interact with. She backtracks a little and tries the other fork of the tunnel.

Soon enough she can see light. Thank goodness. Now, if she hasn't gotten too turned around, Cerulean City should be that way... Treasure: 1d100 Berry: 1d10001d8·1d100·1d1000

At some point on Mayu's trek back to Cerulean City, she spies a Zangoose. Unlike in the dungeon, it isn't automatically hostile, but it's still a Zangoose. They're known to be somewhat aggressive.

Mayu isn't looking for aggressive right now; she gives the Zangoose a wide berth as she heads past it.

Taking up position in the Trainer Box on one side of the arena, Mayu mentally prepares herself for what Gym Trainer Mary has to offer. Mary sends out a Garbodor first, followed by a Scolipede. The two prepare themselves.

Mayu elects to open with Sigma and Omicron, to test what Mary has in store for Poison's typical weaknesses.

Scolipede zips across the battlefield, getting behind Omicron before stomping its right-side legs down onto the ground. There is a flash from a red orb attached to a collar/belt of sorts on its upper thorax area, seeming to take some of the Pokemon's life force and inject it into the attack. A red wave sprawls out from the point where the large bug's feet struck, catching both Sigma and Omicron within its radius.

Both of Mayu's Pokemon are heavily battered by the shockwave, though they both recover from the shock a bit quicker than might be expected. Sigma retaliates against the bug by hurling cinders, circling around to make sure she isn't close enough to be caught in another such attack; Omicron merely turns around and aims a burst of psychic energy.

Scolipede throws a barrier up just in time for Sigma's Ember to crash into it. The psychic blast connects as the barrier comes down.
Scolipede used Protect! Speed Boost!
Garbodor first scattered some spikes that shone with venom across the ground between it and Sigma. It then scattered some regular spikes all around the Braixen. (Toxic Spikes in round 1, Spikes in round 2)

Sigma prances away from the first barrage of poisonous spikes, and throws another handful of flames at the Scolipede - it can't keep curling up behind a shield all the time! Sigma quickly finds herself surrounded by more mundane spikes after moving closer to Scolipede. Speaking of the bug...while the flames missed by a fair margin, Omicron's psychic attacks continue hounding it unabated. So it decides it's time to retreat. It uses Baton Pass! Appearing elsewhere on the field is a Venomoth, which hides behind the Garbodor.

Sigma holds herself very still, and throws fire at the new bug. Yes, she knows how to do other things, she just likes fire, okay? Venomoth easily avoids the flames as Garbodor inflates its body to block attacks for Venomoth! Garbodor used Inflatable capability! It now counts as Blocking Terrain! Attacks can no longer target through it, but it's easier to hit now. (-1 evasion)
~~New Round~~
Venomoth positions itself directly behind Garbodor before creating a Substitute!

A little frustrated by now - these are very passive enemies - Sigma switches back to fire for a moment. Omicron, naturally, does not.

Garbodor is trapped in a vortex of fire. It's naturally not particularly pleased about this turn of events. It sprays some acid at the Braixen to weaken it a bit.

Sigma braces herself and endures the first spray of poison, but the second is too much. Mayu sends out Epsilon in her stead; the Octillery takes stock of his enemies and zeroes in on the Venomoth('s substitute).
