"Wow, your way of battling is annoying, too. Kind of like a lil sis," Gene couldn't help but command, "Of course, that isn't to say that I don't think it's a good idea. Thanks for showing this to me, Tater Tot."
She returns her attention to her dozing Pichu, who now appeared to be having some sort of Encore-induced dream. Sleeping while standing up, Birthday's little arms waved in very small movements at his side. What that was supposed to be or meant, Gene couldn't figure out.
"Let's go! Let's go, Pichu!" Gene cheered from the back, "Wake up and snap out of it! I believe in you!". Inspired Training.

Emiko's eye twitches again at being called 'tater tot', but she refrains from responding in order to focus on the fight. Cleffa runs in to smack the newly-awoken Pichu.

"Pichu, do you think you can?...," Gene asks as she gauges her Pichu's physical condition after the encore. Inspired Training.

Birthday stood with flushed cheeks and looked far too distracted by the Encore to be doing anything but the simplest moves.
Though, a quick look at Cleffa showed that she had also come down with something after hitting Pichu. Cute Charm activates.
Since Present was off the table, Gene had to choose between banking her luck to be annoying or hitting with solid damage. She settled on the latter, unknowing that Cleffa had the same ability. (Darn you Raven for telling me. I was honestly debating between Thunder Shock and Struggle before this.)

Cleffa winks saucily at Present after being struck, causing the poor, flustered Pichu to become overwhelmed with affection in the same manner as Cleffa.
Cute Charm!

Again, stuck with at-will moves as his only recourse, Pichu is left with two choices.
"Pichu, whittle it down with Struggles!" Gene orders.
Unfortunately for her, however, the Pichu she just got today wasn't so willing to listen to her. Afraid that the Cleffa would be hurt too much if he struck her with these hands, Pichu lightly zapped her instead. Then he looked nervously at the Cleffa, as if afraid that she would hate him now, or worse, had been really, really hurt by the electricity.

Cleffa goes cross-eyed briefly, then collapses. Much to the dismay of Emiko, who glowers at Gene, as if daring her to continue to call her 'tater tot' or some other "pet name".
"You may have won this round, heathen, but if you dare call me by a pet name again, I shall make you regret it." She grouses as she recalls her Cleffa and shoves prize money into Gene's hands. Technically, she gets no say in the matter, as a bet was made and Gene won. Not that it'll stop her from becoming enraged over it.

"Unfortunately, Tater Tot," Gene stresses the name, "a bet is a bet~ Such a cute little potato." Ah. She knew she was being mean, but seeing Emiko get so angry was fun, and at the exact moment when Emiko would rage at her for her latest offense, Gene would snap a picture. Triumphant, Pichu would snap out of his spontaneous first crush and then look around in confusion. He would default to returning to his trainer, from whom he would receive an affectionate and congratulatory head scratching. To: pokemonbypost.boards.net/post/99516/thread

Wandering around the alleys of large buildings in Viridian, Gene eventually spots a Meowth digging through trash.

Gene's eyes light up in yen signs.
Not like she had much need for more yen. However, in her research prior to this journey, she had marked Meowth down as a very efficient Pokemon to have. The earlier, the better, and this was still only the first day.
She tosses a Pokeball at the Meowth to get its attention.

Immediately upon spying the little Pichu on the battlefield, Meowth gets this hungry look in its eyes. Uh oh. It may perceive Pichu as a light snack. It quickly leaps at the tiny, electric mouse Pokemon, claws extended.

Look... It hurt, but if Pichu was learning anything today, it was how to take hits after yet another hit dropped it dangerously close to half. That was how Gene thought about it to make herself feel better.
Pichu retaliated with its usual opener, a nice Present for a new friend!

Unfortunately for Gene, the Meowth proved far frailer than most other things she's fought so far. The big boom of the Present knocked it right out, causing the ball to simply fail to energize it. (Poke Ball still usable, it just didn't activate on a Fainted Pokemon)
Gene earns 3 Poke XP.

From: pokemonbypost.boards.net/post/99613/threadLet's start with one wild encounter and we'll see how it goes~ DnL9nEd91d100Gene leaves the cafe behind her, after paying and leaving a tip of course, and strolls through the main street. Before long, however, she's bored of window shopping. There wasn't really anything here that she didn't already have at home, after all. Since she was out on this trip to explore, she takes the next turn into a side street off the main road. Not quite an alley or decrepit, but definitely not as fashionable. She swivels her head about, wondering if maybe there was some interesting local haunt she could duck into, or just any wild Pokemon that might catch her interest. 1d100

Not long after ducking down this side street, Gene gets the distinct feeling that something is off. She keeps on walking forward, not really even considering turning back, even after walking for far longer than this small side street has any reason to allow. That is to say, Gene has been walking for several minutes, with the far end still not being in sight despite it only appearing as a short side street of little to no interest before entering it.
Eventually, Gene finds that the street lets out into a cul-de-sac. In the center of this cul-de-sac is a small shrine with many Cleanse Tags and wards against evil surrounding it. Not to mention an entire line of such tags and wards placed on a line that blocks one from simply walking into the shrine. It would be a simple matter to just lift up the line and duck under or even step over it...

Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.
Is what I wish I could give as reason for Gene to duck in without any caution at all to get this ball rolling, but first, some common sense checks. Gene looks at the strange scenery and tries to find some sort of sign, or maybe even a passerby. She has, of course, her doubts that she'd find anything of that sort... After all, the whole time walking here had been weird, too. To the point that she wonders if maybe if she had been spirited away.

It does seem that way, yes. Nobody around, an eerie shrine covered in wards against evil spirits? What else could one think? Well, so far as Gene knows, nothing will stop her turning around and leaving without daring the mysterious shrine, but based on the way this place has been acting, that would likely result in her always wondering 'what if?'. Welp. No time like the present! Gene ducks into the shrine and finds an altar with a single, odd rock-like object sitting on it. Said object is covered in Cleanse Tags itself as well. As if someone tried desperately to contain something within this rock.
Picking up the rock results in a small jolt running up Gene's arm. It doesn't hurt, not really, just surprises. Upon closer inspection, the object looks less like a random rock and more like a keystone. Y'know, one of those things that engineers use to hold up archways with otherwise minimal support? In the dead center of this keystone is a Cleanse Tag. Based on the ridges felt beneath said tag, it seems like something is being hidden/blocked by the Cleanse Tag. On the backside of the tag are a bunch of lines. 108 of them to be exact. Gene didn't count them, but somehow she just knows that's how many there are... that's not creepy in the slightest. No sirree.
