You've sat through the ridiculously half-assed orientation of Professor (Blue) Oak, and received your starter Pokemon. You are now free to go where you will; whether that be following the 'traditional' route in the footsteps of Kanto's famous Red and Blue, or forging your own path and starting out in one of the other cities (excluding Cinnabar and Viridian).

Daidouji got up from her seat as she was ready to get going. No reason to not take road in front of you. Sookie, her Rockruff gave an encouraging bark. She nodded, cracked her knuckles, and they started down route 1 towards vermilion. "Sookie, keep an eye out for potential catches, or battles. Hopefully 1 of each before Vermillion." Daidouji's voice had deepened after her operation. She used to have a small, mousy voice. Now, though, she had a stronger, deeper, growling voice. She liked it that way. Sookie gave a confidant bork, and kept to her trainer's side.

Daidouji was satisfied with her catch, and Sookie's quick work. Now she needed to carry on. A quick stop at the center for healing was needed, and then she would search route 1 again for competition. She waited for an opponent to lock eyes with her.

After she wraps up training, Daidouji retires to the center. She went 1 for 1 in her battles, but even that left a bitter taste in her mouth. Achieving more strength was a must, but her little pokemon had to be trained efficiently. They weren't going to be getting treatments to improve them. In a rented room, she went over what she could use on the way to help against the next two gyms. The nerdy, bookworm was in there somewhere as she studied the map of the region, her dex for pokemon, and took notes. Her two pups play wrestled while she worked.

After waking up, and scaring people away from the continental breakfast, Daidouji heads out to being morning exercise. With her pokemon at her sides, the trio run laps around the town, and attack some trees nearby. With that all done, it was time to move out. Daidouji had written down a plan to acquire her first badge. She would mold a small team strong enough to get it. Simple, and easy. She had hoped she would be able to sink her teeth into the gym leader as well if she was allowed. But she had to train first. Viridian forest was going to be her first major test, and personal dojo to mold her pokemon. She entered the large Viridian forest, and scanned the trees surrounding her. "Hmmm...Need a grass type..." She nodded to herself, and proceeded deeper into the woods to search.

“Mawile, huh? Alright. Let me know when it is healthy, awake.” Daidouji gets her other Pokémon. She goes in, and sits off in the corner. Her two new additions would help against the rock gym. The Bulbasaur, and hopefully this Mawile would accept an offer to join. These Pokémon would do fine as long as she trained them properly. Trainers entering Viridian Forest would make perfect opponents for her young warriors.

Nurse Joy hands Daidouji the temp ball containing the Wild Mawile and instructs her to release it outside. She also (perhaps unnecessarily) reminds the part-dragon Trainer that the ball will be rendered non-functioning after it releases the stored Pokemon. Only usable for those who craft their own Pokeballs.

Daidouji takes the ball outside, and releases the Pokémon from the ball. She folds her arms, and waits for the Mawile to get acclimated to it’s surroundings. “Oi. You there. Apologies for the rude awakening. But we got you fixed up”

When it emerges, Mawile is first confused. Then, the memories of the battle come back to it. That horrid brown dog-thing beat it! Impossible! Mawile may be young, but it is certain it was supposed to be the strongest thing in that forest (sans those nasty flying bugs with their powders or the odd electric rodent). That's when Daidouji's voice and her words register in the small Pokemon's mind.
"!"
This human! This human commanded that not-a-Houndour! Mawile demands of the human the secrets of how that thing is stronger than her (Mawile)! Having won that contest seemingly ages ago and being infused with Pokemon DNA, Daidouji understands the Pokemon language perfectly. Mawile, of course, does not know this. Mawile only knows the human is weird-looking (even for humans) and commanded the brown not-a-Houndour against it in battle.

Daidouji is actually taken aback from understanding the Mawile. The urge to fan girl is suppressed for now. "Hmm....Look. My name is Daidouji." She points to herself with her thumb, and then points towards the Indigo Plateau in the distance. "I'm going to conquer that very spot. But, I need support." She releases Sookie who lets out a few barks at the Mawile. "I'm assembling a strong team of pokemon, and I'm forging them into warriors by awakening their inner strength. You showed me lots of promise. I even see a little of myself in you. I want you to come with me, and I'll unlock your potential. We'll maul this whole region one foe at a time. Will you join me?" She holds out her pokeball, and even Sookie gives a few encouraging barks.

Mawile is briefly distracted by the appearance of Sookie, loudly declaring that 'Not-a-Houndour' shall be its rival from now on, and it will not rest until it is stronger! Even if that means teaming up with some weird human. Daidouji's speech seems to have gone completely over its head...or it just wasn't listening in favor of declaring Sookie its rival. Either way, at least it's on board? Yaaay?

Daidouji housed the Mawile into her new ball. This day was a bit tiring, so it was probably time to turn in. Tomorrow would start their more intensive training.
In the morning, Daidouji got right to work with breaking in her pokemon to some heavy training. She was physically tough to shrug off attacks, and get physical. Sookie, and Aoki take turns improving their tackles into Daidouji's fists. Chip the Bulbasaur needed lots of help before his vines were combat ready. Finally, she had a wrestling match with Baiken the Mawile's jaws. Despite scratches, she still needed work. After their training, it was time to re enter the forest, but now they needed challengers.

It doesn't take long for Daidouji to be accosted by the ubiquitous Bug Catchers of Viridian Forest when she enters to continue her journey/find a fight.
Bug Catcher Mal has two Pokemon and wants to fight!

Over the next two days, Daidouji's intense training continues. Finally it seemed her few pokemon had begun to truly take shape. They were much stronger from where they started, and it was now time to leave the forest. She took down strong trainers, and stronger bugs in the forest. Daidouji marched through the twists, and turns of the forest until the trees finally opened up. She gazed at the city of Pewter, and she cracked her knuckles. "It's about time..." she growled. She made her way towards the city, and to the first gym on her hit list.

Ah yes, Pewter Gym. Once lead by a man named Brock, now led by a woman named Nekura Massani in the wake of Champion Lilith's changes to the League Challenge. You step through the automatic door of the Pewter Gym, ready and eager to make a challenge. You are greeted by a young, dark-skinned woman with white hair.
"Welcome, Trainer, to Pewter Gym. My name is Juri Massani. I assume you are here to challenge Leader Nekura for a Desert Badge? Which type of challenge would you like to undertake? Basic or Advanced?" She bows politely to you.

The teen smirks at you. "I figured, but am required to ask nonetheless. This way, please." While Juri leads you to where the first challenge will take place, she explains precisely what the first challenge will be. It's a fairly simple survival challenge. You need only navigate a desert-like area while avoiding traps placed within meant to slow you down or immobilize you. "Now, I will be waiting somewhere in the desert for you. There is a chance you can avoid me, but if you don't, then I will challenge you to a Pokemon Battle to weaken you before you face the Leader. Of course, if you excel at navigation, you might even seek me out on purpose for a greater challenge. That's up to you." You stop at a door that says 'Survival Area'. "Through here is the desert in question. When you're ready, just head on through."
