Freya finally wiggles out from Ruby's grip, and wipes herself off. "Ugh. Honestly. I could've easily walked. Anyways, Yes! I would like to register for the Adventurer's Guild, please."

With a long-suffering sigh, the guy at the desk motions at the sign sitting on the desk. The sign that, in their haste, the girls had missed. It reads 'To sign up for the Adventurer's Guild, take a packet and fill it out. Hand it in to the Greeter at the end of the festival.'

"Oh! Don't mind if I do then!" Ruby says, taking a packet.

Taking a packet each, the girls find they are quite involved. One page for the bare minimum of information (name, age, sex, etc), then several pages for an overview of what is expected of Guild Members. It's kinda wordy, but it boils down to 'You are expected to meet a certain minimum standard based on your Branch of choice.' Finally, there is a death waiver. Oh yes, they have one of those. It isn't required to sign it, but doing so allows you to take on more difficult/dangerous missions for the Guild in the future. Naturally, there is also a requirement to sign your name at the bottom of the 'Guild Overview' section to indicate acceptance and understanding of the contents therein.

Stephanie 'hmms' while idly tapping her pencil to her chin. The notes themselves are only of consequence to Stephanie. She's written down Emil's name and the surface thoughts about what's on his mind daily, and what she can only guess they taste like, in dream form. His woodsy nature... maybe some smoked meats? She doesn't know enough yet. Time for experimentation.
"Well you have to consider that bugs outnumber humans in the world. Just consider it like that! You aren't in a city, your in a human 'hive', and they are all swarming around you, doing their tasks from day to day!"
She pulls her bag out and starts digging for something.
"Also... I'm of the belief that what you eat can affect your mind. So lets see... Anything filled with sugar is a terrible idea, if you are already nervous around here then making you more energetic is just gonna make it worse. You need something filling, maybe starchy, to use up some of that energy. But uhhh, hold on."
She pulls out what says on the cover is 'The Psychologist's Cookbook' and hands it to Emil.
"Hold that."
She then places her hand on it, and then holds her other hand up as if she's swearing in.
"I, Stephanie Myler, do hearby swear upon this cookbook that I have not used any hallucinogens or poisons or anything harmful to my knowledge in this dish. Alright, now that's out of the way."
She takes the book back and pulls out a wrapped item and unwraps it revealing what looks like delicious pretzel bread.
"Ok take this, I baked it this morning before leaving. Eat it and if any of my former ungrateful collegues ask; yes I said the thing and you spread it around to everyone you knew. You don't have to do that last bit though."
She rolls her eyes and speaks the next bit mostly under her breath.
"I swear you make one light suggestion about experimenting with Weedle venom and suddenly your a pariah..."

Freya reads, and fills out her form. "My. My. So much information. This is so much fun!" She happily signs her name, and holds onto her papers for when they are to be turned in. Perhaps there was a place to learn about the different branches. Freya begins to search for information.

Emil blinks at Stephanie as she... swears on a cookbook that she hasn't poisoned this bread that she's handing him. He guesses the bit about heavy foods to calm down and use up extra energy makes sense? Emil isn't much of a cook and this is an association with food he hadn't really previously considered.
"Do... do you put stuff like that in your food often, Miz Myler?" He accepts the pretzel bread anyway. It does look tasty. Of course, he has to set Tulip down to do it - she's a little heavy to hold in one arm. "The hive thing does make sense but I dunno. I'm not really a 'hive' kinda guy. Swarms don't scare me as easy as they do some people but I guess I've just always done better by myself. Kinda like Tulip here - they don't call Dwebble 'hermit crabs' for nothin'."
Tulip really doesn't seem nearly as jumpy as Emil is - in fact now that she's on the ground again she's scuttling back and forth between Emil and Stephanie and the crowd going by, as if she's trying to ward the stream of festival-goers off from her overwhelmed trainer. Meanwhile Emil munches on the pretzel bread, since that was presumably the idea. "This is really good!"

She throws her hands up exasperated.
"I only brought it up, IN CONFIDENCE I MIGHT ADD, in relation to poison types and their ability to eat Black Sludge, and I brought that up with the fact that humans can take light amounts of poison repeatedly to build up an immunity. And I'm a scientist AND a chef so I just idly mentioned that, oh maybe I could really really LIGHT amount of poison, maybe as an alternative to 'spicy' or something... and then suddenly my so-called-colleagues say I'm purposefully poisoning people because I'm a 'psychopath' and I 'have no boundries' and-"
She puts her hand in front of her face and pulls her fingers inward in a 'calm down' motion.
"It's ok. I'm fine. Even if words said in confidence end up 'mysteriously' in the ear of the headmaster and they kick you out before you even have a real chance to do any research at the college- I'm doing it again. I'll stop."
As Stephanie is talking, Destiny seems to have not felt like floating anymore, and has landed on Tulip's rock.
"But yes, thank you. Like I said, I'm a expert cook. But I'm one of the mind. I experiment with different foods and different materials to cause different effects. Especially on how the food changes what you dream about. The concept of a mid-night snack messing with your sleep patterns is more real than you think!"
She looks toward the guild.
"Here. Lets head toward the guild. Supposedly there's those pokemon habitats for the ones they are giving away, maybe that will remind you of home, and with a full stomach we'll calm you down."
Steph makes a 'after you' motion and waits for Emil.

"Come, Freya! Let us make haste to the Fighting Branch! Surely they must have something there to suit the needs of a Hero of Justice!" Ruby grabs Freya by the hand and starts dragging her along at full speed.

Emil shakes his head. "That sounds like a lousy thing to do. I mean, if you didn't actually do it to somebody without them agreeing to it..." Of course, Emil is the sort of person who might actually try eating that.
Tulip turns her eyestalks around to give Destiny as disdainful a look as she can manage without actually possessing eyebrows. Why is there a pink thing on her rock?
Emil finishes the bread and nods when Stephanie proposes heading for the Guild. "Guess you're right. Not gonna get any farther just hanging around here, right? C'mon, Tulip, let's get goin'." Tulip shakes herself a little in an attempt to get Destiny off of her, but sets off after Emil anyway, obviously not planning to let her trainer out of her sight.

"I know, right?! SOMEBODY UNDERSTANDS. Finally. But yes, lets go."
Once Tulip is moving, Destiny goes back to floating, her resting place is uncomfortable now. Stephanie notices upon getting there the obvious packets meant to take and not to bother the poor man behind the desk. She hands one to Emil.
"Here."
She fills out what she needs to before finding the death waiver and raising an eyebrow.
"No to that bit, thank you. I came here for research and test sub- testing. That's what I said. Nothing else."
She clears her throat.
"Anyway I believe the next step is to just peruse the festival grounds. There's that 'free pokemon' mentioned in all the information."
Stephanie looks around.

"Oh, I think I'll go look over-Gah!" Freya gets pulled along by the energetic Ruby. While she is distracted by the wonders of the burly fighting branch, Freya sneaks off to look for something else. Rock, ground, fire, water, bug....None of this was working for her! She walked back to the front to ask some about the branches instead. "Umm. Excuse me. Pardon my intrusion, but where can I find the Fairy Branch?"

As it turns out, Branches are not represented on the outside. Clearly you're not expected to join up until later. Not to mention the fact that 'Fairy Branch' doesn't even exist. Sure, people are aware of the Type's existence, but it doesn't have enough representation to have a Guild Branch associated with it.

Of course, without Branch representation around, there is nothing to distract Ruby for long as Freya soon finds a hand clamping down on her shoulder. "There you are Freya! Geez, getting lost like that is going to worry the heck out of me, you know? But no worries! Now that I am here, everything shall be alright! Unfortunately, the Fighting Branch that we were both looking forward to isn't making an appearance, but I hear we're getting free Pokemon! Let us make haste!" Ruby says passionately, dragging Freya out to the festival grounds.

Emil squints at the packet. That is an awful lot of words and he's not sure he can get anything specific out of it beyond "better measure up." "Does all of this mean something I'm not gettin' or is it just 'we're gonna kick you out if you're bad at it'?"
He's mostly following Stephanie's lead here, really, but he does sign the death waiver. As fidgety as he may get with crowds, Emil is pretty confident of his abilities and doesn't shy away from danger - if something needs to be done, he'll take care of it. His signature is a little wobbly, but he folds the packet up and gives the poor guy who's probably been dealing with people who don't pay attention to signs a sympathetic smile.
"Oh, Pokémon, yeah. Wonder where they might be..." Pokémon would be a much easier thing to deal with. "You know what sorta Pokémon you're lookin' for?"

Stephanie shrugs.
”Yeah mostly that’s what it means. You’ll be fine, just sign away.”
She looks around.
”Well... I don’t know. Type doesn’t matter, what I need is something that likes to ‘be’ asleep, or something that likes it when others are. You?”

Freya was shocked that there was no Fairy branch! Shocked!! She would be having a word with people in charge. That would have to wait because Ruby was back. Freya smiled uneasily as this girl moved at a pace she wasn't comfortable with. "Ah yes. We are receiving a pokemon. Let us head toward-Argh! My arm!" Freya follows helplessly as she is pulled along.

Ruby spots two people sitting around talking, one of which with pink glitter on them. "Why Freya! You didn't tell me you had friends! I'm going to introduce myself to them!" Ruby says, running over to where Stephanie and Emil are. "What-ho, my future comrades!" She shouts at the top of her voice, having approached them from behind, still dragging Freya. "What might two would-be adventurers be doing sitting around on a day like today! We should be patrolling the grounds, eyes and ears peeled for ne'er-do-wells and miscreants to teach the error of their ways!"

Madness attracts madness it seems.
Stephanie just blinks a few times at the newcomer. She takes out her notepad, and begins writing. She'd be able to get this one to hold back on the energy.
"You presume very quickly that we would be future comrades. A shrewd tactic to guilt someone into becoming friends with you by stating it first making the other person feel guilty by having to walk back YOUR statement of friendship."
She looks to Freya, who looks very uncomfortable.
"And I believe our woman of the cloth doesn't look very comfortable being abducted by you. The only thing even remotely close to a ne'er-do-well I see is you. Maybe dial your energy down a tad?"

"I dunno. I figure you can guess what kinda types I like, but I hear there are Pokémon that are kinda like bugs but aren't Bug-types. Maybe I'll look for one of 'em, try to expand my - bwah?"
Emil's ruminations are derailed by the arrival of someone... very enthusiastic. "You know what you were sayin' about extra energy, Miz Myler? I think we found somebody who's got it worse than me." Aaaand Stephanie's already pulled out the notepad. Emil wonders whether she does that with everyone she meets.
He gives the noisy girl a slightly nervous smile. "Uh, hey, I'm Emil. We weren't sitting around, really, we were just on our way to go looking for where they've got these Pokémon. I mean, we've gotta turn these packet things in before we're adventurers anyway, right? No big rush." He holds his up to demonstrate.
Tulip scuttles up in front of Emil again, raising her claws protectively. Humans are always so noisy, why do they keep bothering her trainer?
