The forest continued for what seemed like a long time, through coniferous forest and the gently winding trail that seemed to give at least some pathway through it. The forest began to give way, to give space and light to the forest floor as the trees thinned out and the ground become more and more hard and tough. Rocks began to appear in the forest and the edges of the pathway, and from the tips of the much shorter trees were the looming peaks of tall mountain ranges.
As the hours drew on though, the trainers began to realise that they were going to need to find themselves more food, that is if they were going to manage to actually cross the mountains- they would likely not find any food there, though perhaps there might be a few scrub bushes that they could derive a tiny amount of sustenance from as they crossed a pathway that could be who knows how challenging.

Grumble... grumble grumble growled Aiden's stomach as he reached to rub it. The closer the mountains loomed, the more Aiden felt wary. They were not fully prepared to tackle the mountain.
"Hey, uh, guys?" grumble sighed Aiden as he started to look for bushes of berries or anything to eat. Straining his hearing to try hear if there was a water source near by. "We might not find a lot of food on the mountain, so we should probably forage some before it gets dark."
While they walk, Aiden will continue to search for edible food stuffs, be it root, berry, leaf, or fruit. If they could find a Pokémon that could provide milk or fruit, that would be even better.

Genki's stomach replied to Aiden's call with a gurgle. "I think you're right, food stores are running low," he felt the heft of his reasonably lighter pack, "if we're going to do this we'd better stock up, or else head back to civilization." He thought of the teleporter as some sort of make shift escape rope, except no power source.
Unclipping from his belt, "Minor let's go!" Teddiursa digitized from the pokeball curled up on the ground. Her head perked up, ears twitching, she took in her surroundings, seemingly disturbed. "We could all use your help here, and I'd really appreciate it if you could-" Genki sat cross-legged in front of Minor, "We've got a bit of a journey ahead of us, and we could really use a good supply of food, I'm sure you're hungry too. You're from around here and I bet you've got a keen sense of smell for sniffing stuff out, like food."
The promise of something to eat was at least enough to bring Minor to her feet and consider helping.

Genki and Aiden stopped to look about them- it seemed that the pickigns here were far slimmer, especially with the increased rockiness around, even the trees seemed to be far more spartan and inedible. It wasn't looking good at all.
Minor's ears however pricked up and she began to look around, as if something were worrying her, then each of the trainers felt a strange rumbling beneath their feet, growing as they moved closer to the mountains.

Genki finds a berry looking growth on a bush, and pops one in his mouth. It was hard and bitter and overall unappetizing. Spitting it back onto the ground, he continued to spit trying to expell the taste from his mouth. He calls back to Aiden, "nothing doing here, it's all rocks and twigs. We might need to head back and stock up more heartily-" he noticed Minor's concerns, "what's wrong?"
Minor kept an ear turned to the ground and patted a foot emphatically. Genki picked up Minor to comfort her, her feet still wiggling but not trying to break free. As they moved Minor's focus remained on the ground and Genki noted it. "What-" then he felt the slow steady rumble in the ground, "earthquake? But it feels like the trackter engine back home. Hey Aiden! You feel that?" Placing Minor on a tree stump, Genki gets down to place an ear to the ground.

"...Yeah," says Aiden as he tried to survey the mountains from their location, "Could it be a Pokémon? We should be ready if we are attacked..." Aiden reaches for one of the Pokéballs at his waist before tossing it into the air, "Let's go, Major. Let's assist Minor and Genki."
Major appears in a flash of brilliant light and he yawns widely. "Major, will you help us find food with Minor? Be on the lookout, there's something underground."

"Could just be an Onix passing underfoot."
Upon seeing Major emerge, Minor is elated and rushes to her brothers side.

Major bumps foreheads with his sister and gives her a one armed hug. He seems to ask her something, taking her hand gently and looking around sniffing the air.
"I'm glad they have each other," said Aiden to Genki, "I bet it's scary to be away from one's family when so young."

The rumbling grew as they continued their search- if this was a moving Onix, then it was one that was moving back and forth underneath and passing repeatedly, getting ever closer. A few Flying-types launched themselves into the sky from the ever-thinning trees, their wings flapping to get them high and far as quickly as they could away from whatever was causing this rumbling. Now both Minor and Major were looking perturbed by the sound and rumbling- whatever this was, it wasn't going away any time soon, andn it was getting stronger by the minute.

"It feels like it's getting closer... We should be careful," cautions Aiden as he steps to the front to try and shield the Teddiursa and the trainers from any attacks.
Aiden's eyes will watch the ground, trying to figure out where the Pokémon could possibly be coming from.
"I wonder what it is..." muttered Aiden.

"Well, if it's coming to say hello, we best be ready." Picking Minor back up, and placing her on the stump once more, he hoped Major would follow. If something were underground, a bit aof a barrier would be helpful.
"Prima, we may need a little help," he tossed a pokeball straight into the air and caught the defending Chinchou once it was released, "Prime your Bubble cannon, we may be hosting company."

The trainers stopped and began to look about themselves, they couldn't quite work out what this pervasive rumbling might be coming from, nor what was actually about to happen. As they considered it, they stopped to wait, but the rumbling didn't seem to get any louder, instead it simply continued on in its same undulating way, never increasing in volume nor power.

After waiting for what wasn't actually too long, "well, this is anti climactic," adding under his breath, "and boaring."
"Perhaps we should just get back to it, keep our guard up."
Genki offered Minor a hand down while cradling Prima with the other. "Let's see if we can't find something to eat while we make our way, yea? Hey Minor, Major, think you could sniff our some honey?"

"Maybe if we're careful it will just ignore us? All right, you guys look for some honey, I'll see if I can find some roots or something that is edible. Major, be good and listen to Genki for me, okay? I will be back shortly." giving a small wave towards Genki and the Pokémon, Aiden headed back towards the edge of the thicker treeline. While it's still bright enough, he will let Sunny out of his pokéball to bask in the sun while Aiden did some looking around. "Hey, Sunny. I hope the daylight sun is warm enough for you. Relax while I look around for a minute. But, stay close, okay? I don't want to lose you."
Aiden will start to perform a more in depth search of the area, looking for berries, roots, fruit, or even vines that could be fashioned into a net for fishing. He will also be cautious and keep his hearing listening for any approaching Pokémon so he and Sunny aren't caught unaware.

Major and Minor wandered off into the forest, though they did look a little concerned by the rumbling noise for a short while. Genki, meanwhile, went searching for more food though all he managed to turn up were a few cold-shrivelled looking berries- perhaps nutritious, but not tasty in the slightest.
Aiden too went searching for more food, though his search was not much better- a few roots that had likely seen better days, something that in their perfection would have been tasty perhaps, but now were likely just a filling meal even if they weren't particularly tasty.
It didn't take long for Major and Minor to return, each of them bringing with them a honeycomb dripping with honey, even as Sunny glowed with the absorbed sunlight- cool though it was, it was still fairly strong.

Gathering the roots he found, he starts heading back towards where he had parted ways with the trainers and the Teddiursa, letting Sunny hop up his arm to sit on his shoulder as Aiden walked back. "Did you enjoy your time in the sun, Sunny?" The cherry Pokémon chirps happily in response as Aiden waves at Major, Minor, and the brothers. "I don't have much, but I do have some roots and stuff that can be stripped and stewed."

Prima was getting restless, on guard too long with nothing to battle. Genki pet Minor on the head, "good job," breaking off a piece and handing it back to the Teddiursa, and setting prima down, "you two can play, but don't wander off- and no rough housing."
"I could boil these berries, with some of this honey; it might even taste good." He begins to rummage around his pack for a pan to start cooking. "Stew would be nice," it made him think of his mothers home cooking once more, as the chill breeze carried carried a glimpse of scent his mind could smell.

Sitting Sunny down near the group, Aiden hands over the roots. "I have a cooking kit, if you need it. You wouldn't happen to have any rope, do you? I had a thought about trying to head back towards the river and try to catch some fish, but I couldn't find any vines to try and hash one together."

"I don't have rope, but I've got a net, and some bait," tossing a pokeball in the air and catching it, "of corse we could always attract the food head on."

"We can try and catch some Magikarp with the net, hopefully. While not hugely nutritious, it's better than berries and roots at least. If we could find the river again, we can try to catch some fish." He nods solemnly as he looks slightly defeated.. "I mean, it's not my first choice, but unless we think of something else, it might be a long road back to town. I mean Pokémon in the wild have eaten other Pokémon before..."
