"Seems pretty straightforward. Say, bout how high is the ceiling in here Miss Roxanne?" Theodore posed, squinting upwards before answering her question. "The journey it takes you on, is the most important aspect of Pokemon Battling. The adventure, the story. Ain't about results in a scrap, or the good, the bad, and the ugly. A man discovers his worth on the long road under a low sun." Theodore returned his answer with some degree of stoicism and pride.

Kai looked at Theo with a bit of wonder as he said his reason. He thought he was about the challenge as much as Cole was, but that's what he gets for assuming. "Yeah! The journey is the best part. Seeing what there is to offer everywhere in the region." He grinned, happy that they agreed on that part.
"Battling is fun and all, but I care more about gathering friends and the journey around it. But if you make us have to pick something from battle..." He paused, glancing over at Cole before continuing. "It's how fired up people can get over it. Being that passionate, that's something I want."

Cole shook his head "She didn't ask about what the point of Pokemon Battling was. She asked what the most important aspect of Pokemon Battling is. Some people might say exploiting Type Effectiveness or overwhelming strength or defenses. But I think the most important aspect of Pokemon battling is the bond between a trainer and their partner."
He clutched a Pokeball in his fist and looked at Roxanne with a grin "When a battle begins there should be no difference between a Trainer and their Pokemon. Their hearts and minds should be an extension of each other. That bond is the most important aspect of Pokemon Battling and also is what will bring us to victory here."

"It's about twenty meters up, about what the battlefield is long," Roxanne replies. "If you're thinking of flying up there, well..." she smiles, "I won't forbid it. Myself, that is."She listens carefully to the answers, before nodding. "Indeed, Cole knows what I was asking. And his answer is similar to my own. Coordination, planning, building off each other. That is what is important in battling. And if you are unable to exhibit that today, you have no chance here. I will take a mostly hands-off approach in this battle. Let my Pokémon's teamwork speak for themselves. We have had years together, after all." Deftly she releases, one after another, a four-armed rock much like Kai's, a bulky grey biped with a drill horn, and a sturdy metal-armoured quadruped. The Rhydon and Lairon each have a stone collar around their necks - the Lairon's is a dark orange, while the Rhydon's is an emerald green - and the Graveler has a similar-looking blue band around one of its arms. They all look prepared to fight, but also waiting for the group to make the first move. "I look forwards to seeing your skills. I hope that they are at least competent."MapYou may release your 'mon anywhere within 6m of the left side of the map.
You can post your moves, too - you'll probably be faster than these 'mon.

"My boys ain't ones fer flyin', and I gotta say I don't much care fer birds, I just needed to make sure they had the head room they needed! Come on out Magnificent Six! WE'LL SHOW HER WHAT A JOURNEY DOES FER OUR BOND!"
Theodore's Pokeball hit the field, and in a flash of light there was a tower of Pokemon there, dwarfing even the Rhydon on the other side of the field. He'd lead with his ace, he was itching to see his friends in action.

Cole released the Golett he had caught the night before across from himself. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before opening them and truly starting the battle. Though he still had dark circles under his eyes, he seemed far more alert than before " Alright Chicory. I know this is our first battle together but let's show them what it means to be one. Unleash your frustrations on the Lairon!" The ghost type moved across the field before crashing its feet into the earth over and over again. Chicory the Golett moves on 10 and uses Stomping Tantrum vs the Lairon with a 10 vs AC 2 for 42 Physical Ground type damage

Kai pulled on his newest companions ball, tossing it in his hand once before sending it flying into the arena, opposite of Roxanne's own. The four armed boulder appeared, and while it seemed ready it was still it's first battle. "Alright Polani, Keep steady and show your fellow how you like to fight!" Upon hearing those words, Polani ran forward, rushing to it's fellow Graveler, before stomping the ground right in front of it. Polani moves on Init 5

While the towering Six holds back and puts up a shield of light, Chicory moves forwards, smashing into the Lairon. The metallic beast staggers back, but holds strong. Its sheen seems a little more metallic and glossy than it did a moment before, and Cole recognizes the effect of a berry. Roxanne must have fed them some. Polani's attack is also fairly successful, although the other Graveler can't seem to go much slower. It doesn't seem to be quite as sturdy as the Steel 'mon, though. "Well, good," Roxanne says, nodding, "I see you're taking the initiative. Taking advantage of weakness. Enjoy it while it lasts." She smiles, as the Lairon begins to float in the air in front of Chicory, before raking the statue with its claws, leaving shallow gouges. The Rhyhorn turns towards Polani, and swings its massive arm at the Graveler. She's able to take it though, barely flinching. Roxanne's Graveler slides around into a flanking position, though, and is able to crack a rock on Polani's head. It isn't too bad, but does manage to strike a vulnerable area on the stone 'mon. A-Exeggutor uses Reflect. Golett hits with Stomping Tantrum. It's super effective! Lairon's Kee berry raises its Defense one CS. Graveler hits with Bulldoze. It's super effective! Lairon uses Magnet Rise. Lairon gains 5 DR from Type Expertise. Golett takes 42 damage and 2 injuries from Metal Claw. A critical hit! Lairon's Attack is raised 1 CS. Graveler takes 30 damage from Hammer Arm. Rhyhorn's Speed is lowered 1 CS. Roxanne's Graveler disengages. Graveler takes 6 damage and an injury from Rock Throw.

" Chicory, I know that stung but keep it up, slide on down and back up Polani!" The Golett turned its back on the Lairon before moving forward and raising up one of its fists and taking aim at the enemy Graveler. With a whoosh, it fired the arm off completely, the limb flying directly into the Rock type, correcting itself mid flight and making sure to hit, before it returned to the Golett who seemed to click it back into place. Shadow Punch, Auto Hit for 44 Ghost Physical Damage.

Kai pointed at the flying target, that was a problem for him and Cole, no reason to let it stay that way. "Bring that rock back down to earth!"Polani nodded, turning to the target and taking a step back to make sure the Rhyhorn didn't hit it, before throwing a rock at the flying rock... and missing by a large margin. "Well buddy... go big or go home, let's see how your aim is from the top." Theodore mumbled to himself, flicking the brim of his hat so it tipped back far enough for him to get a better look at the ongoings. "Six, EVERYTHING YOU GOT AT THE GRAVELLER!" The massive trunk bowed forward, glowing seeds coalescing in amongst the Exeggutor's fronds before arcing through the air. (Theodore binds Trick Shot and gives Brutal Orders, Six moves into range.) The stones, seeds, and fists go flying, but, in the end, Roxanne's Pokémon stand mostly untouched by the barrage, though Chicory manages to connect - the Graveler seems to be able to deflect some of the projectile's power, though. Roxanne's Pokémon seem to have some sort of plan, as the Rhyhorn swings over to shake the ground under Chicory's feet. Thanks to Cole's food, it's still up, but fairly weak. The Floating Lairon is unperturbed by the ground shaking, though. Roxanne's Graveller swivels around Kai's, and glances at the gigantic tree-dragon... before beginning to glow. A loud noise can be heard as chunks of rocks suddenly fly out from its body in all directions, crashing into Polani and Six. Polani manages to tough it out, but Six, unfortunately, is felled, crashing to the ground from the sheer massive barrage of rocks. The floating Lairon doesn't exactly seem to be the most stable, though, as it glides around and clumsily swipes at Chicory. "Well..." Roxanne says, "Looks like you got your wish at taking out my Graveler. Let's see if it was worth it." She smiles, before releasing a tall green plant (though nowhere near as tall as Six), with pink waving tentacle-fronds. It's hard to tell exactly where its eyes are. Golett hits with Shadow Punch. It's not very effective. Graveler misses with Smack Down. Exeggutor misses with Bullet Seed. Golett takes 34 damage and -1 Speed CS from Bulldoze. Graveler takes 43 32 damage and 2 injuries from Self-Destruct. Exeggutor takes 97 damage, 3 injuries, and Faints from Self-Destruct. (Or spends reflect to only take 48 damage and 2 injuries.) Roxanne's Graveler Faints. Lairon misses with Metal Claw.

Kai doesn't like the idea, but since she did it first, and it was guaranteed that Graveler was going down this turn, there wasn't any reason not to do it. "Move in close and give her a taste of her own medicine!"Polani skirted around the Cradily, getting into the position between all three of the Pokemon on Roxanne's team. It glowed brightly before bursting in an explosion that moved to envelop them all. Brutal Orders Self Destruct VS Everyone (Minus A. Theodore exhaled slowly as he considered the newcomer on the battlefield and all the dynamite going off. Roxanne was not pulling any punches, but Six thankfully held off the bulk of the explosion with raw psychic ability that he should no longer possess. "Alright Feller, they like rocks, give'em some rocks and then show a clean pair of heels. We're gonna have to make a plan to pull through. Give it an ancient power!"(Theodore gives Brutal Orders.) Cole screamed internally. Over and over and over all of these fights were going the same way, poorly. Just ONCE he wanted to actually feel COMPETENT as a trainer but it looks like everything that had happened when he was in school was nothing but sheer luck. Whatever, he was just going to lose this like he lost to Evelyn over and over. Maybe he wasn't cut out to be a trainer, wasn't meant to be a champion... He wordlessly recalled Chicory before sending out Habenero. When the Quilava came out and nearly roared as flames shot out of his back. Cole put on a fake grin and called out " I may be at a disadvantage here, but I'm not giving up just yet." He had to at least put on the show of thinking he had a chance.... Doing what has quickly turned into his signature move, Habenero spins until his flames glow white, and he crashed into the Cradily at full speed as soon as the explosion cleared. Recall Golett and release Quilava.

The Cradily is barraged by attack after attack, and while the others look really none the worse for wear after the explosion, it's a little weak. Habanero is able to ignite it, too, and dodge the rocky tendrils that suddenly extrude from it, before the burn flares up and it falls. Roxanne looks a little less happy about that, as she recalls it. The Rhydon, meanwhile, logs its large body as fast as it can go towards Six, approaching the Exeggutor with some force. The Lairon stays away from Habanero, but launches boulders at him, causing scratches and hobbling his speed a little. "Well, I must say, that was some impressive coordination - or luck," Roxanne says, nodding. "Let us see if we can tell which it truly was." She tosses out another Pokéball, this one containing a blue and red statuelike Pokémon. It's standing very rigid, but seems fairly tranquil. Exeggutor hits with Ancient Power. Graveler Smites things with Explosion. It's not very effective... Cradilly takes an injury from Flame Wheel. Rhydon Sprints. Cradily uses Suction Cups. Cradilly misses with Mega Drain. Cradily faints from the Burn. Quilava takes 31 damage and -1 Speed CS from Rock Tomb.

"These thing are pretty bulky, so let's switch it up a little!" After Kai returns Graveler, he reaches into his pocket and pulls out his replacement. He sends it out, the rafflesia, Wela the Gloom, spinning once it's free of it's ball. "Drain that Rhyhorn dry!" With no further prompting needed, it extended it's arms towards the Rhyhorn, sapping energy from it visibly, before twirling around and moving away form the Rhyhorn. Wela is sent out

" Alright, keep your distance, show the Lairon that you can toss stuff too" Cole calls out, not really where he was standing anymore. Maybe they had a chance? Maybe they didn't? While Habenaro's attack is deflected somewhat, it does seem to be rather more effective than the last time someone tried to hit the Lairon, and at least flames stay on the 'mons shell. Wela has the opposite issue. While its attack is fairly effective, the 'mons own defenses and especially the green shimmering band absorb a lot of the power from the energy, leaving it weakened, but still with a lot of fight left. Six unfortunately misses with his own attack, before the Rhyhorn he danced around glistens with a glacial air, and charges at him, crashing into the palm with the fury of an ice storm. It severely chills the tropical palm. The Nosepass just does a little spinning dance, before calling up a stinging blizzard of sand - though, it's very well contained, not touching the Trainers at all. The Lairon continues its floating, before throwing a barrage of rocks at Habanero, causing a fair bit more damage to the Fire type with the increased number of boulders. Lairon takes an injury and is Burned by Ember. It's not very effective. Gloom hits with Mega Drain. It's super effective! Exeggutor misses with Sleep Powder. Exeggutor takes 44 damage, 2 injuries, and Faints from Avalanche. (Or uses the 2nd reflect, takes 33 damage, no injutries, and stays up.) Nosepass uses Sandstorm. Quilava takes 40 damage and 2 injuries from Rock Slide. Lairon gains 5 DR.
