The Campaign in Brief
In this high-level campaign with primary inspirations taken The Forest and RimWorld, you are highly capable military engineers who, through a contrived circumstance, have been stranded in the wilderness with little expectation of rescue. You must build a survivor's camp and defend it from hostile pokemon, reinforcing it with tricks and traps you've found or crafted from the resources in your surroundings. In between you must learn more about this land you've found yourself in and find a way to make it back to civilization.
The game will have two distinct modes of operation. The first is an abstract time-management mode where you lay out your plans for each of the day's phases and must balance training your pokemon, foraging for supplies, traveling on the world map, and constructing your base's defenses and facilities. The second involves exploring sites of interest in full detail, battling the inhabitants, interacting with other PCs, acquiring unique items, and advancing the plot.
Character progression will be slow with more of a focus on equipment and milestones only sparingly handed out for completing story elements. Combat will be very difficult to encourage maximal usage of the base-building mechanics; lethality will be high, but not unavoidable. Pokemon will have their out-of-combat utility strongly emphasized, with many tasks being minimally productive or flat out impossible without the right Capabilities or HM Moves.
Campaign Background
Tensions between Kanto and Unova are high. War seems inevitable and the two sides are jockeying for strategic positions in the ocean between them.
You are members of the Kantonese military's engineering corps. You may be expected to fight on the front lines if war breaks out, or you may simply be a technical specialist. In any event, you are on a heavy cargo plane loaded with construction materials en route to one of the strategic islands.
A mysterious storm downs your plane on an uncharted island. A strong, distinctly unnatural magnetic field is interfering with your communications equipment. Worse, the wild pokemon really do not seem to like you. You are isolated and alone on this hostile pocket of land with only yourselves, your pokemon, a cargo plane full of construction materials, and the island's abundant natural resources. Fortunately, you are engineers. As long as you're here, you might as well set up a base; If you are fortunate, this island and its natural defenses could be an asset in the coming war. First, though, you need to shut down whatever is responsible for the magnetic interference so that you can reestablish contact with your country and, hopefully, be rescued.
In this world, pokemon are more intelligent than real-life animals with an understanding of delayed gratification and long-term planning, though little capacity for language or culture. Pokemon embody aura and in some ways are not physical beings at all, allowing them to do things that seem impossible. Whether consciously or not, the composition of pokemon allows them to be influenced by humans' auras and so in this way be tamed and commanded. In some way aura influences all supernatural phenomenon, though it is still largely a mystery to modern science. There is disputed evidence that the world may not always have been this way but if animals above microscopic size ever existed they have long since been out-competed to extinction by pokemon.
Stuff You Can't Have Starting Out: A Brief List
This doesn't necessarily mean that they won't feature in the game, but that they cannot be a part of your background. In the event that any of these become available, they will be exempt from the four class limit.
Alchemy
Arcanists
Elementalists
Glitch Benders
Mega Evolutions
Warpers
Absolutely anything from Blessed and the Damned
Getting Started
Joining the Crashlanded Recruitment Discord Server is required. I am almost always available for questions and discussion, and will frequently post status updates there.
We will be using Pokemon Tabletop United 1.05 with DataNinja's compilation, the Fancy PTU Sheet Version Poipole for character tracking, and Roll20 for tracking battles.
There will some small amount of homebrew and houserules which will be provided in the game's subforum once applications have been processed. There will be fakemon.
The initial application window will last for a minimum period of two weeks and a maximum period determined by how bored or busy I am. Once I begin accepting applications an announcement will be posted, and you will have approximately four days to hurry up before recruitment is closed. Your sheet need not be fully completed when you apply, but all of the information below must be visible and locked in:

Lulu's Thoughts on the Military and Supernatural Powers
In my version of the Pokemon World, supernatural powers are well documented if rare and poorly understood. However, most people fortunate enough to be capable of such abilities are protective of their secrets and will only divulge them to people who they feel to be of good moral character. Such people often have a very poor view of the military, who they perceive as violent and conflict-seeking. As a result, it is extraordinarily rare to see benevolent forces such as Channelers, Oracles, and Telepaths in military service, even as noncombatants. Hex maniacs and Telekinetics are somewhat more common, while Aura guardians and Sages typically consider military service unthinkable.
Applications featuring supernatural classes will have their backgrounds scrutinized intensely; I reserve the right to reject such an application with no further reason given than "I wasn't convinced." If playing a supernatural class is not absolutely essential to your enjoyment of the game it is recommended you submit two versions of your character; one with and one without supernatural classes.

Once I begin accepting applications an announcement will be posted, and you will have approximately four days to hurry up before recruitment is closed. Your sheet need not be fully completed when you apply, but all of the information below must be visible and locked in:
- Classes
- Elemental Connection
- Field of Study (if you have more than one, list all of them)
- Starter Pokemon
- HM moves on your starter pokemon
- Any special conditions of your application (such as you only wish to be accepted if another player is)
Character Creation
- Species: Your character must be human.
- Level: You start play at level 20.
- Cash: You start with 15000 yen. Any unspent yen is lost. If in doubt, buy scrap.
- Edges: You gain the Elemental Connection edge for free. You may take Mystic Senses in conjunction with Elemental Connection, but in this case you may not use Elemental Connection to qualify for any prerequisites.
- Features: Type Sync may only change the type of a pokemon if it would gain STAB with at least one known move, and would not lose STAB with any known moves.
- Field of Study: Choose one Researcher Field of Study that allows you to create items. You may take Features from the chosen Field as if they were General Features. At the end of character creation the Skill associated with the chosen Field must be at least Expert, and at least two Features from the chosen Field must be taken.
- Classes: Supernatural classes require extraordinary background; see Lulu's Thoughts on the Military and Supernatural Powers, below.
- Free Stuff: You begin play with a free one-person tent, sleeping bag, lighter, weapon, and a single essential item worth 2000 yen or less. If your weapon skill is Adept or better, the weapon is a Simple Weapon; otherwise it is a Crude Weapon. The essential item is a piece of kit required to use an Edge or Feature, such as a crafting kit, fishing rod, or saddle. If desired, you can "upgrade" any of these items to a better version by paying the difference.
- Starter Pokemon: You begin play with two level 40 pokemon. They each have one inheritance move of your choice. Inheritance moves can be TM or Egg moves; if the pokemon has no Egg Moves, it may choose from Tutor moves instead.
- HM Moves: Being members of the military comes with perks. You have free and unlimited access to a large pool of HM Moves. These moves cost no TP, but still take up one of your pokemon's tutored move slots. The following Moves are available as HM Moves: Cut, Dig, Dive, Flash, Fly, Splash, Strength, String Shot, Surf, and Sweet Scent.
- Tutoring: In general, you can purchase the services of tutors. Move tutoring's price is dependent on the move's Frequency; At-Will or EOT moves usually cost 1000 yen, Scene moves 2000 yen, and Daily moves 3000. Other tutoring services cost (numberOfPrerequisiteFeatures + requiredSkill - 3) * 1000.
- Pokebots: Every level added to your pokebot costs one yen per experience point an equal-leveled pokemon would require. Pokebots can be raised to a maximum level of 40. If you are not capable of crafting pokebots yourself, you may purchase a pokebot for twice what it would cost to craft (including raising its level). Regardless of how they are acquired, you can have no more than one combat pokebot and three pokebots total.
