"Oh, uh, it was nothing," Ayah says, a little flustered. "That was all you." The ball continues shaking in his hands, almost as rhythmically as the core was pulsing. Perhaps it's trying to say something? Or maybe it's just acting out of habit. Either way, eventually the shaking ceases, and the ball clicks. You caught a Staryu! Level: 18 Nature: Cuddly Gender: N/A Ability: Natural Cure Moves: Water Gun, Rapid Spin, Recover, Psywave, Swift, Bubble Beam The Corphish seems to sulk a little bit, but stays put, looking up at Kai with puppy-dog eyes. It seems to maybe think that he might be holding out. Cole just is able to peacefully float in the sea... well, semi peacefully. The wave force a lot of manual re-positioning.

Kai glanced at it's eyes, feeling a little bad for not having more food, but really. the Corphish had eaten a lot, so.. he got over it when he thought it over. "Nope, don't have anymore. Not like you need any. I'm sure you could go the rest of the day without eating with how much you had!"
He gave it a pat on the head, but that was that. He'd play around if the Corphish wanted, but he wasn't going to go buy more food for it, or annoy Cole about it.

"Got my star in the strangest place." Theodore mumbled to himself softly and smiled. It was quite the handsome Pokemon, and he never would have found it just sitting on the beach. The big started wading for the shore, stopping near Ayah. "We'll have to go swimming more often when we get together. This was a great time, learned something new, and caught me a Pokemon!"

The Corphish hangs around for a little longer, but, once it seems to acknowledge that it's not getting any more food, it disappears into the waves, and beneath the sand once more. Probably waiting for another tourist to come by, if it's lucky.
"That sounds good," Ayah says. "I'm always up for swimming. Although... there are plenty of cities that aren't by the ocean, and being in non-seawater, without the waves and the wind and all that... just isn't quite the same. But, we can see if we can make it work."
The group plays on the beach, swims in the waves, and (tries to) float on the water for the next several hours, before heading back up to the rest stop to dry off, change, and all that. The girls don't seem to want to particularly be in the Petalburg Woods overnight, which leaving now would entail.
"If you all want to leave now, that's fine, of course," Evelyn says. "All the power to you."
"We could meet up at the Center over in Rustboro, tomorrow, in that case," Ayah adds, "Or we could wander through together tomorrow. Safety in numbers, and all that."

"After having the nightlife come and try to take off with mah Pyen, and gettin choked out by Miss Holly, I think I'm good with waitin' on the woods till mornin. Hopefully nobody minds an early rise, but I can get us through the woods lickity split, and we'll be at Devon fore anyone knows it. Theodore offered cheerfully, heading inside Briney house to get his things organized and settle in for the night.

Cole shrugs "I'm fine with waiting as well. I really don't wanna deal with getting attacked at night again. And sleeping in a bed is waaaay more my speed."

"Sounds like we're resting for the night and heading out tomorrow then! I didn't really mind either way!" Kai nodded along with the idea, less chance of night ambush was good. Though they do miss out on some night variety Pokemon, it's not like they had scouted out what lived in the forest yet, so night or day, they were bound to see new faces.

The afternoon passes casually, as does evening. It eventually turns into morning after a sound rest, with the sun just high enough over the horizon to provide a decent amount of warmth. By the time breakfast and Training are all done, and everyone's packed up for the road, the weather outside is nice enough that even the shaded woods shouldn't be too chilly.
The girls, thankfully for everyone feeling awkward the day before, are wearing much more modest outfits today, better for travelling. In high spirits, the six trainers head for the woods.
The path is clearly well-marked and well-travelled, with the trees really only getting super-thick a ways away from the path. And even then, sunlight still filters down from above, giving a lush atmosphere, rather than a stifling one. Birds sing off in the distance, trilling beautifully, but they don't tend to come within much more than a glimpse of the trainers.
Except for one incident, about two hours in. The group comes upon two black birds with red faces and chests. They seem to be pecking for some reason at a green-and-brown mound that's in the middle of the path. One looks up at the Trainers, and gives a trill of some sort. It's not really easy to tell what it could mean, whether challenge, greetings, or something else.

"Go on, shoo! Get on outta here!" Theodore belts back at the bird, nasty things always stealing food, picking on poor Six! Only thing they's good for is fertilizer and even then it's more trouble then it was worth! Theodore felt along his belt, it was weird not having three along but he figured giving the boys a rest wasn't a bad decision. It was just Belle, Sundance, and Lone Ranger. Nah. He wouldn't make it a fight unless they did.

Cole raised an eyebrow "We wanna deal with them quick or nicely? I'm sure we can roast up another bird like that Murkrow if need be. Hab is always looking for a fight"
He settled his hand on his belt and waited before doing anything

"Oh, uh... what were they pecking at? Maybe we should get them away from it and check it out?" Kai was a bit perplexed, what were they pecking at? A Pokemon? A plant? Either way his hand fell to Coronet's ball, gripping it just in case they needed it.

The birds hop back at the sharp noise, before staring at Theo, puffing their chests up, and trilling irritably back at him. Despite the severe size differential, there's no fear at all in the birds' eyes.
Meanwhile, it's excruciatingly subtle, but it seems like the mound is slooooowly sliding inch by inch away from the birds, down the trail.

"It's a fight then! Come on out Lone Ranger!" Theodore snapped a ball of his belt and gave it a toss, the Staryu from the beach appearing with a soft sighing hum. (Speed 16) "Shoulda left well enough alone, but you rats with wings never learn!"

Kai wasn't entirely sure if what Theo was saying was true, they probably would have left them alone if they had walked around them, but if a fight was already starting! He grabbed Coronet's ball and sent out the little white fox. It looked around in a bit of confusion, but training was helping it understand the situation... sometimes. "Keep your guard up! Looks like we're getting in a fight!"Kai: 10 Coronet: 12

Cole shrugged and tossed Habenero out in front of himself " Hab, roast these birds will ya?" For being someone who's Pokemon was known to be a bully sometimes, Cole REALLY didn't like the idea of multiple birds taking on one little grass type. Whether its for food or just because, he didn't really care. Habenero is at 15
Cole goes at 5

With the bevy of Pokémon released, the Taillow flap up off the ground to about head level, and trill strongly at the opposition. They seem to relish the thought of a challenge, though. Both Taillow use Focus Energy.

"Aright Ranger, we can't fail with a Swift, so fire away!" Spinning up, the Staryu releases a barrage of brightly glowing stars on Theodore's command.

Cole sighs as the birds look to put up a fight after all. Taking a cue from Theo in a past fight, Cole points his finger at the birds and makes a bang sound with a smirk. His expectation was for Habenero to barrel right into it. Instead the flame badger rolled up and...kept rolling, nearly lighting the forest on fire instead..... 1 against AC 2 for Flame Wheel so it doesn't matter. Cole was using Brutal Orders

"Keep your head clear, and aim!" Kai doesn't say at which, instead pointing at the one the Staryu didn't aim directly at, trying to maximize potential coverage. Coronet gave a yip, charging up a blast in it's mouth as it moved around a little bit, not getting closer just trying to get a clear shot. Once it felt comfortable it fired off it's frosty beam of ice. Focused Training Freeze Dry VS Tailow Accuracy 17 Damage: 37 Ice Special

The stars batter one bird, but it's still flying strong. Coronet buffets the second, and it's clear that it's not doing too well, with ice on its feathers. However, it seems like adversity has only given the two more determination, and they both swoop on Coronet, smashing him with their wings. Or... well, one of them hits. The Vulpix is able to dodge out of the way of the other's, thankfully, because the one hit was enough to send him staggering. Swift hits Taillow 1. Taillow 2 takes 2 injuries from Freeze-Dry. Taillow 1's Wing Attack misses. Coronet takes 31 damage and 2 injuries from Taillow 2's Wing Attack.
