Only somewhat put off by this, Floyd departs the airport and heads for the outskirts of the city, needing some excercise after being trapped on a plane for that long.

Thankfully, due to it still being early morning in Unova, there are few people outside. Thus, Floyd is able to go for a jog to loosen up without people looking at him funny. Then again, he's wearing regular clothes right now, so there's no reason for them to do so in the first place. Well, whatever. There are some Pidove watching him from the rooftops of nearby buildings, but beyond that nothing of interest seems to be going on.

After a quick stop at a pokemon centre to sort out his belongings, Floyd sets off for Mistralton City. Via Nimbasa and Driftveil of course.

Floyd being Floyd, he would of course walk the entire way. While passing through Nimbasa City, he learns about two different battle facilities, the Battle Institute and the Battle Subway. Both are "competitive" battle arenas, but the Subway seems to be more popular among the "best of the best", and is most similar to Kanto's own Battle Frontier. The Institute, on the other hand, is much smaller, and while still challenging in its own right, tends to ramp up challenges based on the user's consecutive wins. Maybe something to note for later.
Either way, Floyd's a man on a mission, and refuses to be sidetracked right now. Having spent the majority of the first day traveling from Castelia to Nimbasa City, and having been on a 14-hour flight beforehand, jet lag eventually catches up and forces him to rest for the night in Nimbasa. The following day, he can either continue his journey or perhaps wander Nimbasa a bit. It's far smaller than Castelia City, and thus much less confusing to navigate for the poor Sinnoh native.

Intrigued by a challenge involving consecutive victories, Floyd heads for the Battle Institute after adjusting his team.

The receptionist at the Battle Institute welcomes Floyd and offers him a pamphlet on how the place works. You fight in 5 consecutive battles (either Single or Double), each one more difficult than the last. At the end of the each match, you are scored based on your performance. After the fifth match is concluded, you are given your total score and awarded "battle points" which you can exchange for prizes at the other counter. These prizes range from Vitamins, to rare held-items, to TMs. Once you begin a "Set" (group of 5 matches), you cannot end it until you complete all 5 matches. (Pokemon are healed to full after each match, including removal of all Injuries.) The number of Sets you complete has no bearing on the difficulty of fights. Every match will start out easy (using pre-evolved Pokemon) and get progressively harder (though no Legendary/Delta Pokemon will appear). You earn no prize money or XP for these fights.

After finishing his battle set and taking some time to come down from his 'battle high', Floyd is able to continue his journey, should he so choose. Aside from theme parks and the battle facilities, there isn't much else to Nimbasa City. There is a Gym here, but as he is registered on the Indigo League Challenge, Floyd cannot challenge any Unova Gyms officially. Not to mention that isn't even what he's here for, and spending extra time to try and challenge Gyms would only reduce the amount of time he has to track down and earn the respect of Cobalion. As such, Floyd heads to the east, to Unova Route 16 and the famous 'Marvelous Bridge'.
Beyond that is Unova Route 15, and eventually, a strange location. A place that is either a city or a village in tune with nature, depending on the person who visits. The Black City/White Treehollow are probably the most famous and mysterious location(s) within Unova. Conspiracy theories abound, but most agree that either Hoopa or Dialga/Palkia are responsible for the strangeness.
It takes most of the rest of the day to walk through Route 16, across the bridge, and on through Route 15. At long last, Floyd arrives in...a quiet little village surrounded by a massive white tree. After wandering a bit, and acquiring a map of Unova, Floyd realizes he went the wrong direction. He spends the night in the 'village' of White Treehollow, then heads out again in the morning; back the other direction.
Crossing back over the Marvelous Bridge, and passing through NImbasa, Floyd makes his way over to western Unova, eventually reaching Mistralton City, where he takes another break. Finally, on the fourth overall day of his journey, he sets out at long last for Mistralton Cave, where Cobalion and the Swords of Justice are said to reside (or meet up; the story is inconsistent). As if sensing his intent, the Swords are there waiting for him when he arrives. The challenge is issued, and Floyd gets his fight. Cobalion is ready for him.
