Is it possible to start with a single stage underdog? (ex. Mawile)

Yeah. Someone plans to start with a Torkoal (which acts as a portable forge.)

Waiting on Fhalkyn on whether or not I'll be able to use Smith to upgrade my Tanegashima, but other than his level 2 skill edge, Ishida Hiroshi is complete! He's a Marksman/Roughneck Ashigaru protecting the people of his new home.

I see references of a discord, but no link pointing to it. Is that intentional?

In order: -You can use Smith, but not prior to the start of the campaign. Since Gunsmithing is relatively new, upgrading the Tanegashima is a case of "I don't know why this works, I just know that it does." Of course, you can use downtime to research this. Tanegashima provide a great equalizing force for civilians against samurai. -A Discord link will be provided for the players chosen. I may make it public at some point afterwards.

@shogun - Oh I was just curious. It's a fun game and it's where I got all my war-japanese from.

Is it possible to type shift the Trainer if it was a pokemon? Next few for curiosities sake, would 1 trainer level count as 2 pokemon levels for getting abilities and moves or how would it work? What about tutor and egg moves for a character like this? Can feature effects normally activated by pokemon like fairy ace's fairy lights be activated by an appropriately typed sapient pokemon trainer? And is there a limit to how many moves like a pokemon or no limit like a trainer?

Alright. The princess of camellias should be mostly done. Tamako was pretty fun to build, so I'm hopeful about where she'd be able to go.

Another question: Would you allow a sapient Tsareena?

Do you still need players? If so, could I play as a wandering sumo wrestler?

In order: -No. The magic that makes Pokemon sapient makes it impossible to type shift them. That being said, if a sapient ‘mon wants to take the Elemental Connection and the Elementalist features (even ones not related to their type, like a Golbat taking a dragon elementalist), they can. -Sapient ‘mon gain moves and abilities like normal ‘mon. -No tutor or egg moves, but they can learn from TMs, which humans cannot learn from. -Yes, a sapient Pokemon may activate its own features with its own moves, subject to the feature’s limitations as always. -Sapient Pokemon are limited to six moves like regular ‘mon. -Sapient Pokemon PCs can come in first, second, or third forms, and use the level-up moves listed in the PokeDex. For example, a sapient Nidoking would gain Focus Energy at level 7, Double Kick at level 9, etc. -Wandering sumo wrestlers are okay. I suggest a big Pokemon (like Snorlax, Slaking, or Hariyama.)

If a sapient pokemon gain moves and abilities like a normal pokemon then does that mean they have a separate pokemon exp bar for just abilities and moves?

Nope. They level up like trainers, which means they cap out at 50.

I'm gonna assume that what you first said about it was confirmation on my guess for how the leveling for sapient pokemon works

Salient Pokemon level up normally, not double. They cap out at 50 like trainers. The trade-off for being sapient is that a Pokemon will not gain moves or abilities above level 50 like non-sapient would.

Not interested in joining, just wanted to quip: A mentor could still maybe teach them a move above 50 using the base Mentor skill

Alright, background/fluff is finally all done. Presenting (once again) Garu Uizado, gale caster. Along with a convenient link to his background right here
