Azazel watched as Jioni gracefully jumped from one conversation to another. It was annoying to view such unnatural charismatic antics, and equally concerning. Exactly how much of this”talent” was natural, as opposed to the product of some unholy machination of dubious Magic’s? When the man approached this “aurora” lady (a lady azazel still had no memory of prior to this day) he felt flushed all over again, tripping over his heels a bit before managing to slip away, wanting nothing to do with the evil charismatic mag8c up close! While he was distracted a bit in conversation though, azazel felt this would be a good opportunity to get some intel on him. THat woman Star was supposed to be a good companion of his, she seemed like a reasonable starting point. He approached shakily from behind, still confused from the earlier exchange
”psssssst”
He whispered, eyes darting left and right suspiciously
”That man you travel with . . . Is he a warlock of some kind? A sorcerer of Black Magic’s? Where does his evil come from, and what curse did he lay upon me?”

Star smiled warmly as the group swelled to half a dozen people, granting each person her attention as they spoke yet staying quiet. Perhaps she felt a bit excluded not being an actual challenger herself, or more likely she was a bit wistful at traveling so far from home. None the less she seemed content just to be here. She found it amusing Aurora thought Jioni was almost princelike, knowing Sioda would throw a bit of a fit if she ever heard of that. Even as the others spoke she found her attention captured once more by the quiet lady from Valrus, and she flashed Alexia a playful wink when she caught her eye. She was distracted from the pretty knight by Berry's approach and she wondered for a second if Jioni's pining gaze worked, before holding back a laugh as Berry veered right for Helia. She knew little of the sexualities outside of Aurian, but couldn't help but wonder if her poor son was swooning for nothing.
A gentle tilt of her head as she was more firmly introduced to Baelfire and the others, her hands entwined behind her back as she spoke gently. "A pleasure to meet you all." It seemed for the moment she was content to stay where she was and pay attention to the group around her speaking quietly, standing patiently with a relaxed look upon her face. Until she felt that feeling when she was being watched, the slightest noise behind her alerted her to the presence of someone approaching her quietly from behind. Then she heard a 'pssst' behind her and noticed the Pokemon thief creeping up on her from behind. Admittedly had she listened more carefully she might not have reacted so quickly, but his shady gaze, his quiet demeanor and the fact he had already attempted theft of Scathách had her react without thinking. The hands entwined on her back snapped open wide and the area directly behind her lit up briefly like the sun as an intense burst of light flashed out into the eyes of the approaching trickster prince.
Of course, whether the light managed to leave Azazel blinking away black spots or not, she half-turned to look him over with a polite but much less warm smile. Her face was a bit more neutral now then it normally was, but Star was a bit on edge around a proven Pokemon thief while having her sigils on hand. "May I help you young man?" and oh yes, Jioni was not joking about her being his other mother, as that tone was very much a displeased mother lecturing a child.

Azazel managed to turn his head right when the flash occurred. He didn’t even know it happened, he was so caught up with his paranoia about the dark natures of jionis magic. He returned to the disapprovingly woman’s question
”Your traveling companion! The boy! What’s the source of his evil? He’s cursed me right?”

Star let out a light sigh at her obvious miss of the flash. She certainly didn't want to hurt the young man, but it was obvious she wasn't used to combat considering how easily she had missed him despite the fact he was the one sneaking up on her. She knew she could have always used a more dangerous move he wouldn't have dodged but still, hurting him without good reason rubbed her wrong. Listening to him made her wonder though whether he was still confused, as she shook her head with a light laugh. The poor boy wasn't used to dealing with glamour weaver's, that was for certain'.
"My son" she stressed, to make sure Azazel understood her relationship to Jioni "didn't curse you, he kissed you. But I can understand why that would be confusing. Much the same happened when his mother planted a kiss on me the first time we reunited. Try not to fret so much, it's just a show of affection. And if it still bothers you.... well, there's nothing wrong with an attraction to one of the same gender no matter what others may say." She flashed him a warmer smile now, remembering boys played pranks on their crushes albeit she had never understood that. Thankfully Jioni had never had a phase like that, oh no, he just kissed his crushes. Affectionate child that he was. Star had to admit she didn't know what the tolerance for alternate sexuality was in Azazel's kingdom but she wasn't going to change her views just because of others around her.

The mere mention of an affection for similarly gendered people dropped forced Azazel into a heavy deep red complexion. Logic wasn't quite working for him, and he especially wasn't used to the concept of "affection" emotional or otherwise, thus he reacted by putting up barriers. Literally. He set up a box of barrier walls around him out of panic, separating himself and star with psychic energy.
"W-WHO THE HELL SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THAT KIND OF AFFECTION?! It's not about anything like that!! It's . . .I don't know, NOBODY does that kind of stuff in response to my art, and it doesn't make any sense!! But . . . You're sure it's not dark magics? He's . . . I'm. . . I'm gonna go um . . . Away . ."
Azazel tries to walk away, but smashes into his own barrier, remembering that he set it up earlier. He stares, embarrassed, and starts smashing the wall with his balled fist trying to break it.

Star blinked at Azazel's panic and thought of offering the poor flustered boy a hug as he started rambling before he built a box around himself. Quite literally in fact judging by the glowing panes of energy. She wasn't as surprised as she should be, while Elementalist's weren't very common a contest like this always brought them out it seemed. Her mouth opened as she went to speak just in time to watch Azazel panic even more, a train wreck to be sure as he slammed into the other side of his own box. His fists pounding on the psychic energy, Star could only stare in a bit of disbelief as she spoke to Jioni in shock.
"I've heard of people coming out of the closet before, but never someone building a closet first so they could come out of it in public. Is this usual outside of Aurian do you think?"
Star had to admit she was impressed. His psychic abilities certainly made his 'coming out' easier, and she wondered if this was a common event in his homeland. Were his parents missing a special day? She certainly hoped not.

So she'd noticed that he'd kept his composure throughout the entire proceedings, not even batting an eyelash at the prince's actions even though he hadn't known of it. He inclined his head with a small nod at that point - it wouldn't be the first time someone had termed him strange or anything of the sort. And besides, it had pulled someone's attention, which was good enough for the moment he supposed. "I've seen many a stranger thing in my time, and I know enough of the young prince's... antics and those of his ilk to not be bothered by it so long that he stays away." Raoul said with a single shoulder shrug. "But thank you for gracing me with your presence despite the distractions." While his tone was level, it was also sincere. Even more interestingly, she seemed as though she wore her emotions on her sleeve -or was a terribly good actress, neither of which could be discounted despite her supposed status as one of Harvvestim's smallfolk before being chosen as a representative given her age- and didn't seem to care at all. She didn't even care about her age maybe slowing her down. A mark of confidence, but he wasn't quite sure if it was merited. He tilted his head curiously once more as he regarded her. "And what is your purpose of joining this tournament? Do you have something to prove? Something you wish to do? Or perhaps something else? I'm rather curious as to everyone's reasons for joining, yours more than most. It is rare to see someone holding a desire to join this tournament for so long and then finally do it, after all."Vazad

Jioni hadn't really been paying attention to what was going on with his aunt, being more focused on trying to just relax with the new girl around while he spoke with so many of the other challengers.
That is, until the prince's outburst. Hearing the boy's words, he turned around just in time to see him form his barriers.
He heard what Star said to him, but it was mostly lost to him as he stared wide-eyed in incredulity.
"...what did you do...?"

"Well why don't we head that way everyone?" Bael slightly turns his body to insinuate he will be leaving soon. As he sees the young teen smashing into his own barrier. A puzzled look goes over his face watching this transpire but with a small amused grin on his face. He wonders if he should walk over to the kid to help him but wouldn't even know where to begin. He gingerly walks over to the barrier and knocks on it. "Hey, you alright kid? Do you wanna come and eat with us? You just gotta promise not to pull any pranks during though, alright?" Bael tilts his head with a small grin. I wonder what this kid is doing here. Seems kinda young to be entering in this possibly dangerous competition. He definitely has some skills though..hmm maybe..he would know some things about what I need.

Azazel drops his head shamefully
”. . . Can you break this for me please? Brute force isn’t quite my forte”
Azazel had barely been out of braxius a day and he already wanted to run back. Too many things were different here. People were nice, and made him feel things, and no one even bothered to try and strangle him so far. It was all a bit overwhelming for the prince of pranks.
Zorua continued to tap the barrier, confused as to why it was constructed in the first place.

Jioni shakes his head, smiling as he approaches the boy in the box. He walks around it, tapping and slapping it as if to test it. After circling it he nods.
"Like I thought, Psychic magic. You seem to use a good bit of that. My gauntlet is powered by the same magic."
He raises said gauntlet, showing and giving a hint as to its odd properties.
"Alright then, return from whence you came Antheia. Donnachaidh, come forth."
He held both sealing crystals forward, a magic circle appearing in mid-air beneath the fairy and another on the ground a distance away. As Antheia disappeared in a flash, so did a wolf appear in the other.
This wolf, however, differed in appearance from most of its species. Clearly it had been influenced by its master's fae magicks.
"Don, Bite through that box and set free our self-captive prince please."
The Poochyena complies, leaping at the psychic construct with a ferocious snarl.

The psychic barrier shatters, giving azazel ample room to exit . . . Unfortunately for him he had to pass by jioni, who has already put azazel in a horribly humiliated state twice today (not intentionally, but still). He didn’t really know what to do. Just leaving would be considered disrespectful, mocking him would probably make him subject to more of that horrifying “affection” stuff. The best he could really do would be to . . . We’ll wait until he was told what to do really. It was the only thing he could think to do. Earlier that bael fellow suggested tavern food. That seemed like as good of an order as any. Also, azazel has never eaten anything other than braxian royal foods so, new adventures and all that. He scooped up zorua to his arms and approached bael.
”Um . . . I wouldn’t mind food. And it’ll be a while before my spells can recharge so I couldn’t do pranks if I wanted to”

Jioni smiles at the boy. "You know you owe me now, right little one?"
In the meantime Donnachaidh jumps after the Zorua in Azazel's arms. It seems he wanted to play with the other Dark type.

Azazels face soured as he glared at jioni. He did not break eye contact as he continually lifted zorua our of poochy’s jump reach. Zorua gave taunting yips in return
”If it’s money you’re after, my parents failed to provide me much to offer but . . . Fairs fair I guess

Jioni just grinned. "Not at all, my family has enough money. You can just repay me by not pranking me or my mother." "Oh, and let my wolf play with your fox."

Azazel cocks a brow
”None whatsoever? Hmm. That may be the only normal thing you’ve said all morning. Fine. I can promise that I shall perform no pranks on either you or your mother.”
Azazel wasn’t as tense with the seemingly normal request. His sister often made the same one, usually with a battle axe aimed readily at his throat, but the delivery method of thr request is really dealers choice
Oh and azazel was clearly lying so . . . Guile roll

"Ah, sorry kid it's not my forte either" Bael responded to Azazel with a tone of sympathy. As Jioni then summoned his small wolf, "Ah, looks like you're lucky kid. I think he's gonna bust you out." Bael steps back a few feet to give the Poochyena an ample amount of room to charge and attack.
As the dog leaped forward with its teeth puncturing the wall it began to crack slowly up the sides to the top just before shattering into fragments that floated outwards disappearing as small flints of pink light. Bael shielding his faces, peeking out from behind his fingers see one of the four wall's that had shattered he saw as the kid began to walk towards him. Bael went to tossle the kid's hair but pulled back as he was not on that personal level with him. As a younger girl approached speaking with Hellia, Bael offered a warm "Hi there, would you like to join us at the tavern for some food?" "Well how about we go off then and get us all some food." With his fellow contestants in tow he lead the pack towards the aforementioned tavern. Bael hears the kid's remark about his promise and thinks on it. He feels as if he is being genuine on his word of no more pranks on the others.

Star gave Jioni a confused look when he asked her what she did as she had not do anything. It was like he expected her to cause trouble. And they both knew the only trouble maker was him. She shook that train of thought off as she watched Jioni help the poor boy out of his box, letting out a deep breath glad everything seemed to be over. She listened partially as she waited for everyone to get ready, lunch sounded good and Star had to admit she wanted a few minutes to try and teach Jioni's old sword a few tricks.
(Seeing through Azazel's lies) 27m0IdzH5d6
Star did flash Azazel a grateful look at his willingness to lay off the pranks, perhaps there was hope for him when it came to that at least. Unfortunately for the poor boy Jioni likely wasn't interested, but they had a long journey ahead of him and maybe he too would grow and find a love while he pushed himself to the limit? Azazel seemed like it would do him some good.

As poochy continued to bark and hop, Azazel scowled down at the loud doggo, but notices that zorua seemed really eager to tease the puppet below. That paired with jioni's request, gave Azazel enough reason to drop the fox down to play.
"Fine, they may play, but I can't be held responsible for any trauma your poochyeana endures."
Zorua allows poochy to chase him for a bit, stopping every once of a while to turn and take the form of a salamance, or similarly intimidating Pokemon to turn the tables on who chases who.

As the reply came Babs looked up at the growing crowd of people where the Prince in question was now having some sort of tantrum. Tutting softly and shaking her head she took another deep pull on her pipe. She shifted her weight to her left foot as a small twinge went through her hip. She pointedly ignored the feeling, now wasn't the time to worry about it, she'd dealt with worse on the Ranch and she suspected that she'd have to work through worse by the end of this. Shaking her head she returned her concentration to the conversation at hand.
"Seems as if he's getting into enough trouble as is. Maybe his present company'll keep him distracted. One can only hope. Keh!"
When he thanked her she brightened up a bit, she didn't need his appreciation but politeness was always a pleasant surprise. Especially coming from a noble like this, the few interactions she'd had with their kind hadn't been particularly pleasant. Not that she could say she'd always met better in Farns, Babs supposed it was best to hope for the best in people. Shrugging she continued.
"I spose I should be thankin you for being pleasant about it." Glancing back at the Prince as she spoke. "Seems like it might have been lucky for me I did."
Looking back down at his cold eyes she wondered how someone could keep that calm. Either he was emotionless or was extremely practiced with keeping them in. She kind of felt a twinge of pity, what kind of life forced someone to completely shut themselves in like that, she didn't know much about the lives of the nobility but they must be judged pretty harshly for being open. Oh well, maybe getting out for a bit would do him a world of good. She absently scratched her mole at his question. Why had she come all the way out here? Even with the Hatchet being so quiet lately it wasn't like she had nothing to do. Did it really matter? She could still feel the embers of her anger smouldering in the back of her mind. She knew she would show them, they couldn't stop her. Shaking her head she decided to start at the well... Start.
"I.. Guess it all started with a silly little girl who wanted to run away from home, back when this whole mess started." She gave a wide wave of her hand, taking in all the banners and the milling crowd. "She didn't make it very far but it's been in the back of my head since. It's been a long time since then but I never forgot. The Hatchet, my Ranch, had kept me busy for years. Things've been quiet for a while now so I thought it was high time I tried again." She thought for a minute and then finished. "That and my fool of a Son thought I couldn't. I'll show him, the Hatchet was known far and wide in its hayday and it's high time I reminded the world why." Putting her hands on her hips she beamed. "So, why'd you decide to give this a shot?" She fumbled for what little knowledge she had about the nobility. "Did your family not need an extra hand to pass out the fancy sandwiches to the diplomats? Or... had too many people waving in parades? Or... Or..." Babs brain didn't manage to dredge up any other details that she thought were more than rumor so she decided to end with a distraction, giving a slight cough. "Well. Anyway. I don't even know your name. I'm Babs, it's nice't meetcha!" She extended a wrinkly and calloused hand.
