The dizzy-looking not-a-bear doesn't even seem slowed by the bubbles, though it definitely felt the attack.
It smacks its head into Quiver.

Quiver squeals in dismay and flattens itself into a puddle to avoid the attack!

The dizzy bear bearly even registers the barrier and only spins a circle before trying again from a new and unexpected angle! It tries to butt-stomp Quiver!

Quiver is thoroughly stomped. Brooke frowns. "All right, that's enough. Sharp, your turn now."
Sharp launches into his customary frenzy of screeching and pecking - but in his enthusiasm, he overshoots the Spinda and tumbles to the ground.

Ash twirls around once, then seems dizzy...no, wait, it always looks that way. Either way, it rushes at the low-flying bird again.

Sharp staggers back from the blow, shaking his head to clear it. Before he can rally to attack once more, Brooke calls out, "Stop! I forfeit." She walks closer, picking up Sharp and digging in her pocket for the prize money. "Nice work. That Spinda packs a punch."

"Yes, Ash and his siblings are surprisingly strong with just a little work. Most people just see them as some sort of novelty because almost every single spinda has a different spot pattern. You might have noticed that isn't the case here though. I'm not sure what the odds are for six Spinda to have identical spot patterns, but probably almost impossibly low. However! There are many subtle differences if one knows how to look!" Eric is obviously very passionate about his Spinda research, as he once again goes on a several-minute-long "explanation" of how to discern these subtle differences in various Spinda, even with the species having no gender dimorphism. At some point, he may have mentioned how not even his own sisters appreciate his devotion to Spinda, despite their similar "devotion/obsession" to/with Eevee and its many forms.
All this talk is probably enough to make Brooke as dizzy as the Spinda! Regardless, Eric doesn't even seem to notice the prize money being offered as he goes through his obviously well-prepared speech. Brooke gains 7 Poke XP.

Brooke listens as best as she can; she might not be interested in Spinda for their own sake, but Eric's enthusiasm is kind of endearing. When he mentions his sisters' lack of understanding for his passion, she comments, "Can't say as I share it, but you seem pretty happy with it, an' that's what counts. Do you and your sisters live around here?"

Eric blushes a little, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment. "To be honest, I'm not actually used to people sticking around to listen when I start rambling about Spinda. Most write me off as crazy to begin with when I tell them that Ash and the others do not, in fact, look completely identical. I can see the glazed look in your eyes though, but don't worry. I'm not offended if you didn't catch everything. I'd be surprised if you did! Erm.. there I go again. Rambling...S-sorry about that." He trails off for a bit, unsure how to continue. "Oh right! Your question. Yes, my family lives here in Saffron."

"It is an awful lot to take in," Brooke acknowledges with a laugh. "But don't worry about it. I'm not about to walk away while you're talkin', that's just rude. 'sides, I still owe you prize money. Here." She holds out the requisite amount - ten percent of her newly-earned windfall. "Good match. I'm new in town, but I'm planning on sticking around a while, just joined up with the Guild. Maybe I'll look you up for a rematch sometime, once I've trained my team up a bit?"

"Wh-really?! Certainly I could do that if you like." Eric gratefully accepts the prize money and bids you farewell, his dizzying drama of spotted spinsters following alongside.

Brooke somehow finds herself facing down a member of the Psychic Branch in a battle. They approached her claiming to have 'sensed' her desire for a challenge, and are here to offer it. A simple 2 on 2 match, they declare. When Brooke accepts the challenge, one of their apricorn balls flies from its position levitating above their hand out onto the field, releasing a small, white Pokemon encapsulated in a bubble of green.

She'd actually planned to give Scarf some practice against her other Pokemon (not Sharp) first, but what the hell, nothing like a trial by fire, right? Brooke coaxes her new Sentret down off her shoulder and onto the battlefield, where she promptly proceeds to pounce on the floating blob. Is it cuddly? Is it scratchable? These are things Scarf must know!!

Solosis is indeed scratchable, and it puts up a shimmering barrier in response to the scratching.
