Scarf whines, her spasming muscles rendering her unable to even try dodging the blob monster's attacks. Stupid blob monster! More scratching! It's got to work sooner or later... right?

Solosis breaks the second reflect to weaken the critical Quick Attack and hang in a bit longer. It rumbles the ground a few more times.

"C'mon, girl, stay on your feet, you can do this," Brooke encourages, as Scarf wobbles from the blow.

The Psychic allows a brief smile to cross their face as Brooke predictably sends out Sharp the Spearow. They recall Solosis and out floats their second Apricorn ball, releasing what looks like a floating sun.

Brooke purses her lips. Rock-types. Of course it'd be a Rock-type. "Right, boy, we've trained for this. You know what to do."

Solrock seems unimpressed, but it's hard to tell when it's eyes are always mostly closed. It sends a vortex of fire swirling towards Sharp.

Yep, that's a vortex all right. Sharp ignores it and hits the Solrock again, moving so fast his attack can barely be seen.

Pah, rocks. Sharp doesn't care about rocks. That's not going to keep him from... oof. That's quite a lot of rock. He's just going to... take a nap, now. Yeah. Then he'll finish this. You just wait, Solrock.
Brooke shakes her head. "Close match. Here you go." She pays up, making a note to herself to think twice when meeting psychics who want to fight.

Brooke wanders about Celadon Castle Town in search of the supply shops or the marketplace or whatever, and comes across a strange, grey-furred Pokemon. The Poke-Tome calls it 'Espurr' and says it is a Psychic-Type Pokemon.

Once upon a time, Brooke might've opened up by setting Sharp on a strange Pokemon; better to get the drop on them than the other way round, after all. Hanging around with Yue and the others has changed that a bit - a strange Pokemon isn't necessarily an enemy, especially here in the city. Hell, it might not even be wild. She whistles to catch its attention. "Hey there, girl," she says, guessing at the gender. "You belong to anybody out here?"

The Pokemon turns towards Brooke, eyes open wide and staring. Its posture doesn't indicate fear, so this must just be what it always looks like. Its ears are tightly folded atop its head, as if to keep something inside. It tilts its head slightly, as if confused by Brooke's question.

"Guessin' that's a no?" Brooke says, uncertain. Yue always made this look easy. "Uh... hey Scarf, you wanna say hi for me?" The Furret unwinds herself from Brooke's shoulder and goes to sniff the strange Pokemon by way of greeting!

Espurr greets Scarf in a friendly, if monotonous, manner. It seems curious about what Scarf's human wants.

Scarf has no idea what her human wants!! But *she* wants to play, and expresses this by booping the Espurr on the nose.

Let it not be said that Espurr does not do playtime. It may not be nearly as fast as Scarf, but psychically moved obstacles for a chase scene help even the odds. Of course, a Wild Espurr also does not have the same level of stamina as a human-trained Pokemon, so it wears out after a few minutes. It did have fun though. While resting physically, it reaches out to Brooke through its telepathy to ask her what it is she wants from it.

After a moment of uncertainty - is this a battle? Should she be giving Scarf orders? - Brooke stands back and lets Scarf do her thing. Presumably she knows what she's doing... and if not, she's at least having fun, right? The telepathy startles her at first, but the Tome did say this was a psychic Pokemon. She tries to convey that she was wondering if the Espurr wanted to come with her while she travels and train.

Espurr ponders a moment, then posits that the extra training provided by a human partner would be beneficial to it. Therefore, Espurr agrees to join Brooke. When she produces an Apricorn Ball, it floats it over with telekinesis and sets it down on the ground before tapping it and going on in. The ball pings softly moments later, indicating a capture.
Espurr is Male, Level 15, Naive, with Infiltrator.
