"My name is Sage and I'm the Branch Leader of Grass. Why are you hanging out in the garden? Did you want to join Grass Branch? If so, please follow me and I'll lead you to the actual rooms."
She begins to walk away whether you follow her or not. Following her results in her leading you back out the way you came and through a door you somehow missed on the way in that leads to the "common room" of Grass Branch. Which is equally grassy/forest-y.

Alex happily follows behind Sage. He was glad that she didn't seem like the girl from Dark that probably wanted to kill him, and that he finally found one of the two people he was looking for. He was going to mention something about being in the garden by mistake, but now didn't seem like the best time. If Alex was reading the situation right (who are we kidding. Has he once so far?), she was probably annoyed with him for the commotion in the greenhouse. 'Once again, another girl you have to make it up to somehow Alex. That makes two, three if you count not finding an Eevee today for Yue.' He thought.
Entering the common room, Alex glanced around for the Mission Board. He told the team that he would look for missions similar to theirs. Before Sage leaves, he does go up and at least introduce himself to the Branch Head. "I know we got off to an awkward start ma'am. My name is Alex Green. I am a trained...well, mostly trained Alchemist. I studied with my mother and Father who were the only town Alchemists back home. I have a lot of experience in healing, but I came to the guild to broaden my horizons. Anything you can teach me about planting and healing, I would be grateful for. I hope I don't let you down in the future."

Sage looks at you, her purple? eyes sparkling. "You're a botanist too?!" She gushes. "So few people have respect for the field, and just like Grass Pokemon because they're tough in a fight. It's true, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't appreciate the non-battle-related things Pokemon can do!"

Alex is relieved to know that he has something in common with at least one other person at the guild. "Yes ma'am. I totally agree. I have my good buddy Squirt. He's a Wingull. I got laughed at for having him as a partner. Sure, he doesn't have a healing move. Yeah, he doesn't have arms. Squirt and I have saved so many patients that mom and dad struggled with though. His keen eye can see the little things that the human eye can't. He has an endless amount of water we can use to clean off dirt and other stuff that is in the way of the wound too. He's such a valuable partner, that I couldn't ask for a better assistant." He says slightly proud of Squirt.
Alex then pulls out his portable grower. "This is my little project I'm working on now. It hasn't had a lot of time to bud yet, but you can start to see a little bit of green under there. I was hoping to get it started yesterday, but I got so caught up in being brand new to the guild and all. I'm only just starting out though. If you have anything tips on caring for plants and such, I'm all ears!"

Sage inspects your little plant, nodding appropriately. "Looks like it could use a bit of a boost. If you're truly interested in joining the Grass Branch, I can give you some Mulch as a joining gift. Shhh, don't tell." She winks slyly.

"Absolutely ma'am. I'd love to join the branch. With the way you care for plants, and the fact that you respect the healers, it would be my pleasure to assist you and the branch as a whole!" Alex said excitedly! "I'm so glad that I've found a branch that appreciates the smaller, less noticed things in the adventurer's life. If it was all battling and questing, there would be a lot of hurt people out there." He caught a glance outside the window and noticed that it was almost midday already. "I'm sorry to join and run, but I promised my friends I would join them for lunch. Thank you again Miss Sage." He said. Alex gave a few moments for Sage to respond, then made his way to the Mission Board, looked for any "Make a pokefriend.", "Explore the swamp.", or the B ranked mission Yue took.

The Grass Branch seems actually less focused on combat and more on exploration in general. It does mention the swamp, but specifically wants you to find interesting plants that might grow in such an environment. There is also a request specifically to the Grass Branch from the Infirmary stating they need more herbs for creating healing potions and the like. Specifically, things that heal burns, as with the latest wave of recruits they expect to receive many burn victims coming from Fire Branch, as it's part of Lady Ashandra's training style.

Alex stops to read over the missions as they were much different than the ones he saw Leon put on the table. He took the Swamp gathering one as well as the special mission for burn heal related herbs. He turned back to Sage. "My friends and I have are headed to the swamp. I'll take these just in case we find some herbs there to help out the infirmary. I'll be sure to bring back some samples as well." he said with a smile. It was relaxing to know that Grass was fairly laid back compared to all of the other branches he had been in. With that, he set out to the mess hall to see if anyone had showed up yet.

Sage does not appear to be around, though there are a few scattered mulch cult Grass Branch members lazing about or tending to mini-gardens.

Alex looked slightly bummed when he can't find Sage. He was intrigued by the gardening though. 'I'll have to ask about one of these plots. This is nice' he thought to himself. He didn't want to spend too much time back here, and everyone looked busy anyways. He popped into the dorms and found a nice spot under a window. He emptied his bag of the spare clothes he had packed, and other knick-knacks from home, and then left towards the infirmary. He didn't want to leave Leon and Brooke waiting too long.

Alex finds the lights quite hypnotic, almost seeming to beckon him forward. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he knows he shouldn't follow strange lights deep into a swamp, but he just can't help himself! He dashes off towards the lights, quickly leaving his friends behind.

After chasing the lights for awhile, Alex finally thinks he's catching up to them. The running, combined with being much closer to them now begins to make him drowsy.
Make another Focus check with a -2 penalty. If you succeed, you snap out of the drowsiness and whatever allure those lights had. Failure means you fall asleep where you are, next to the ghostly candles.

Alex slowly walks into the Grass Branch again, not paying 100% attention. He has his face in his backpack. He's rummaging around for his samples that he seems to have misplaced. "Oh man, Sage is gonna kill me. I JUST had them. Where did they go? Miry, if you ate all of them...Man, I needed that money too! Oh wait! Here's som...oof!" Alex didn't look up in time and ran right into a wall. His samples hit the floor and Miry's ball goes rolling away. As it hits a chair, Miry pops out of the ball and shakes a bit, slime going all over the floor. Miry spots the tasty samples and begins to slither over to them. Alex looks up in time to see Miry making a...he'd say bee line, but it was a slight zig-zag and totally disgusting line instead. "Oh no!" Alex exclaimed as he got to his hands and knees and flung himself on top of some of the samples to save them. He does take one and throw it Miry's way. "There. That's the last one you get. Sage needs these. No more." he said and began to collect the few that he had left. Hopefully it was enough to complete the mission.

Alex does manage to save enough samples of swamp plants to complete the mission. He earns 500 crowns for it.

"Yay, we aren't broke anymore! Well at least not at the moment. We will be later!" Alex said aloud and then realizing he was around others, cleared his throat and walked to pick up the rest of the stuff on the floor. He gathered his things and looked at the plant in the grower. Thankfully, it was mainly undisturbed. It also looked to have a few leaves growing from the little twig. Hopefully, it would be ready to harvest tomorrow around this time. He packed his things away carefully, and then recalled Miry into her ball. Alex mopped up most of the slime with a rag and shook it out in a waste container. He didn't want people slipping in that mess. 'I think it's high time we get this one looked over. The tome says water type, so we'll go to that branch first!' Alex thought. He left Grass Branch and made his way to Water Branch.
