The sharp eyed avian landed at Lootbox's feet, cocking it's head to one side. Those red eyes slid from one hand to the other. Cleverly, it gestured to the left hand with a wingtip. A shiny was nice, but free food and a shiny was even better. It would dupe this strange gooey man yet.

The left hand opened to reveal... bread! "You guessed it right! What a winner you are."
When Lootbox opened his right hand, however, the coin was sitting there plain as day. He then closed his hand and reopened it quickly, the coin vanishing into thin air. "Well, maybe food isn't the only prize to be won. Are you keen enough to figure out where I've hid the coin?"
"Hmm... maybe it's in here!" Lootbox crouched down a bit to the bird's eye level, opening his cloak to reveal a small, two-foot tall doorway. A traditional mimic hunting tactic; imitate a furniture object and nab whatever goes to investigate. In this case, however, he'd be using the doorway as a means to secure Murkrow as a member of his vanguard.
With magic key in hand, Lootbox opened the door and awaited Murkrow's curiosity to get the better of it.

Iwakashi stares at Lootbox's antics. Whatever he was doing seemed to be working as the bird wasn't attacking him just yet. If he hadn't known better, he would have thought the coin really had disappeared. And even then he wasn't quite so sure. But the mimic's ruse becomes clear and brings about his own concern for his vanguard. He had forgotten to fully bind the Reserved Croagunk to him.
He waits for Lootbox's con to succeed or fail and then steps a small way away from the others. The Croagunk follows obediently while he fishes in his pack. He draws forth a gem that seems almost fruit-like and fits in the palm of his hand. "With this, our contract will be set in stone," his hands pass through the outside. With a wrenching motion he pulls forth a seed. "Take hold of this and you shall be drawn into it. It will allow for transport and protection should you be felled."
The Croagunk takes hold of the crystal and freezes. The moment of stillness is broken quite literally. The Croagunk seems to shatter into nothing. A dull glow takes a hold of the sphere before subsiding. The speech left him with an odd sensation. It wasn't one he'd given before. Bah the march would take his mind off of things.

The bird eyes Lootbox's key with great interest and scrutiny. The promised treasure, however, was both round AND shiny. It knew it was being played, but the Mimic was right. Murkrow disappears into the door.

Crimson simply watches the events, curious. Well, curious and wary. She does her best to try and make sure that nothing's sneaking up on them while this is happening. Because this place... well, she's worried of it. It oppresses her. She's sure of that now. She just wants out, while she is this weak. Later, though... there can be a reckoning. But for now, living is preferable.

That went well! The mimic quickly regained his posture, 'door' disappearing under his robes as his height returned to normal. "Let's be off before it's flock comes looking for a missing bird, assuming it HAS a flock. This is an investment that's sure to bring in dividends."

"If it is anything like you, I'm sure that isn't metaphorical." Iwakashi scans the trees for more eyes that might be watching. His thudding footfalls begin to sound. "Let's away."

Yaksha comes and goes without molestation, the darkened skies and dubiously sleepy villages coming and going like passing ships in the night. It was difficult to discern time of day, but the country's borders were quite clear.
Exhausted, the trio arrived at the border to Cragspur, finding it to be far into the night. Dawn would not be far off, and the broken stone land lay before them, looking barren by the starlight.

The darkness is relentless, but crossing into the new territory it seems to be decidedly less oppressive. Travelling for all this time, though? It's much more than she's ever gone at once in one day. Has it only been one day? She feels much more tired than that. Even when searching for the Crystal Being, it was much more measured of a pace. This is... a lot. Now, in territory that feels less like it wants to utterly destroy her, she finally breaks her silence, and addresses Lootbox. "We have been travelling for a long while. Is this a place that you yet deem safe? Can we finally rest? For I am tired..."

Lootbox looked forward towards the horizon. Dust, rocks, hills, and barrens. Behind them forests, lairs of shadows with enough distance behind that none within could sneak out without great risk for little reward. No civilization in sight, nor wildlife to speak of. Just... nothing.
No place was truly safe, though in terms of effort this is about the ideal camping spot. Just far enough from Yaksha to avoid ambush, without going needlessly far into Cragspur and wasting valuable energy. "Probably clear enough." The mimic eventually responded. It was the best they could do with such few resources.
"Well, rest up. I'll take first watch; figure I might as well experiment with tapping into these shadow god powers while its still dark. One of you can take over at sun-up." As to HOW Lootbox was going to tap into said power... he didn't really know. While he himself knew nothing of supernatural arts, what WAS under his belt included a mastery of Valoran martial training. One learns to be strong by withering themselves to the point of breakage many times over, thus tempering resolve into strength.
That didn't quite apply here, but a similar method could be extrapolated. He was simply going to think REALLY hard about using god powers while at the brink of collapse by exhaustion. And maybe, MAYBE, something might happen.

The steadily growing hills and rocky terrain told Iwakashi that he was nearly home. This section was more barren with only scattered shrubs for foliage. But still the air felt of the mountains, full of the promise of bitter cold. It was no wonder that it was so unpeopled here. They clung tight to the mountains for gems or the rivers to farm by.
" We've traveled long with little rest. I'm impressed that the two of you made it this far. We should be safe from prying eyes here. Or it was went last I was here." Time could change rivers, who's to say that the land would be any different. The talk of their divine power left him curious. An untapped wellspring of untold power. Perhaps the Mimic could figure out it's powers first. "Be sure to let us know if you learn anything. Or see anything skulking about. I don't intend to die for a second time."

Lootbox closes his eyes, rests his hands on his knees and... just... *pop*. He's a tiny green and black specter with blazing red eyes. His figure is far less imposing then it was, cute and almost comical compared to his much taller compatriots. First watch passes without incident.
(I need to know if there is a fire being built, or any darkvision going on, then I'll roll for second and third watch.)

(No fire, Darkvision on the Sandile keeping watch while Lootbox does his shenanigans)
AHAHAHAHAHAHA, IT WORKED! TRUE DIVINE POWER AT HIS COMMAND! LOOTBOX WAS NOW... more powerful probably? He didn't feel all that powerful like this. Perhaps a bit of training was required to sharpen its edges; build muscle the traditional way. Gods probably worked like that, right?
Lootbox would practice going back and forth between forms over the course of his watch, figuring out its trigger and training until it was but an impulse to use. This form was but another tool of the trade to be mastered.
First watch would end with Lootbox back to his usual self, poking Iwakashi awake with a stick out of fear of being crushed should the rock man roll over. He'd then retire to slumbering in the shape of a chest, as mimics traditionally do while traveling, to be awoken should a thief slip through and get greedy.

Waking to Lootbox's prodding, Iwakashi does spend a few seconds thinking of snapping the twig but drops the matter. Standing with a grating sound he says, "Just a simple word would have done. You needn't fear a rock slide if you don't provoke it."
He brushes some of the dust from his body as he takes position to watch over their small band. It wasn't something he'd done in a long while, his eyes weren't as keen as some. And this dark didn't help matters. He'd feel anyone prowling up on them once they got to close. He wasn't worried about ti though. None knew they were here.

The first two watches pass without incident, but the night is cold without a fire. The dew settles way before the sky begins to lighten as the third watch begins. Lootbox witnesses nothing during his time, relying instead on his Sandile who has nothing to say on the matter. Iwakashi hears the distant grating of stone on stone. The rattle of things moving about beneath the earth, and the sounds of home. It invokes a certain degree of nostalgia.
Crimson begins her watch at the end of his as the chill slicks the earth in a layer of damp (Perception Please).

The sleep is nice, although being out in the open like this irks her. She's tired enough to not care much, though. When it comes time for her own watch, she's surprised that Lootbox seems to have disappeared... then realizes that it's rather true to its name, as the mysterious chest in their camp. It's cold and it's wet, but at least it isn't the swamp. So, that's something. Even more than last night, though, she feels alone. The sprawling emptiness around her drives home the fact that she's lost her hive once more... Perception: 6

With the layering damp and the coming dawn settling over Cragspur, Crimson sees shapes moving about in the dark, often low and close to the ground. Their bodies angular or rounded, they nearly resemble the terrain itself. It isn't until the first hints of the coming dawn that there is much ado. A grouping of lights begin to approach the party, but it is certainly no torch she recognizes. Soft and pale as it glides around and over the rocks. The footfalls of the approach are similarly lost, confusing where the echo of tunnels and bare stone aren't foreign concepts to the insectile woman.

Someone - or something - is coming, Crimson is sure of that. Quickly, she moves over to the sleeping rockman, and attempts to wake it up, hissing as well as projecting directly into its head. "Quickly, arise. Others approach." It lives - well, lived - here, so surely it would be their best chance at coming out unharmed should there be too many to handle. Because, most unfortunately, she does not yet feel the power of the gods flowing within her veins. A shame.

Distant chittering. Pickaxes, stealing gems from the heart of the mountains? No. Too irregular and broken. Not an army on the march either. Iwakashi gradually comes awake as the buzzing goes to his head, becoming more clear. A...warning? Surging suddenly like an avalanche.
"Who?" The demand goes unanswered as Crimson points out the glowing lights in the distance. Slightly unfamiliar lights. There'd been some rocks that glowed down the rivers but his kind had never had need to use them in the dark. "Whoever they might be, they aren't trying to sneak upon us. So they are either foolish or peaceful. Both a good sign."
He spends a moment deliberating. Best to wake Lootbox as well. Keep an eye on them, Crimson. Confident in her ability to watch the nosy night watch, he makes his way to the slightly snoring chest. Speaking so his voice won't carry, "Lootbox. Lootbox, Wake up!" Prodding the mimic none too gently if his words don't sink in. Pointing out the lights in the distance as he comes to.

An eyeball appears in the lock of Lootbox's chest shape, staring wordlessly at Iwakashi for a few moments. He was rather hoping the night would go uninterrupted with the prior day's forced march; what constituted as 'muscle' for the mimic's body still felt sore.
"You don't suppose they'd just pass us over if we play nice? Eh, perhaps not. Might be good targets for banditry if that is their intent for us." The mimic's chest form shuttered for a bit, lock and hinges swapping sides so that he could see these figures in the distance as they approached. His disguise would remain, ready to ambush at the right opportunity.
