We had a few players drop out of Episode 1, so I have some more openings for Episode 2. The story will pick up after the end of 1 and will start in the woods south of Reef Bluff, a small town in the Orudo Region, famous for its coral reef fossils. The season is currently winter, so catching certain pokemon in this habitat may be limited to species that can handle the cold temperatures. The rules of the campaign are simple to follow. There are no rules regarding posts, but I will often wait for all the players to make posts before I write anything down. This may change depending on the number of players in total. If you have any requests, send me a message and we may work something out. Be sure to be respectful of all other players. If you cause a serious offense, you will get a strike. Get three strikes and you're off the campaign! New players can begin with a starter pokemon of their choice, a standard pack of supplies, and a memento of their background (optional).

It might be helpful to prospective players if you offer details about how to build their characters. Even if all you do is link to your original recruitment ad (if any). Additionally, while I don't think it's a big deal (and I am not a mod anyway), it's often easier and considered "better" to just bump your original ad to save on forum space. Especially if it's only on the second page. To help you out, I'll put a link to your original ad in for you. Project Amber Episode 1. Good luck finding the right players for your game! There are always plenty to choose from, I've found.

A few questions, after looking over your previous recruitment thread:
1. I see you started the campaign at Trainer Level 1/Starter Level 5. Is that still the case, or has the party grown since then, allowing new players to start a little higher?
2. Can we get a brief summary of the remaining PCs? (Name/Classes/concept)
3. What are the limitations on our choice of starter? Just the three homebrew regional starters mentioned in the previous ad?

Thanks! I've been in the mood for a more standard gym crawl so I think I'll go ahead and apply for this. I'll make a sheet once Doc Webster has gotten a chance to chime in, but for now here's my concept: Tori is a street rat who found out about Sequoia's Trainer License giveaway and, while she doesn't know or care much about Pokemon, she figures this could be her ticket to a better life. She knows she's going to have to learn fast if she wants to succeed, but fortunately she's a pretty clever kid. Probably some combination of Backpacker/Hunter/Rogue/Trickster? And since you've got homemade starters I may as well use one. I'll go with Smink since the other two current players have the Water and Grass starters - and it seems like a great fit for a kid accustomed to surviving by stealing, scrounging, and running away from trouble. Since there's no official art for it yet, is it okay if I use this one for now?

I would like to join in. This seems like a nice, easy setting. I have an idea for a character but am fairly new to PTU. Will this be an issue? The general summary of the character: Barry Tone is a small town kid from just outside of Reef Bluff. His family runs the local SolLuna Orchard and makes their money from fruits, berries, and apricorns. While his whole family is very adept at farming and growing, Barry took more of a role as the family Pokémon caretaker. Barry would tend to the herd everyday. He fed, groomed, watched, raised, and cared for every Pokémon on the farm. He shares deep emotional bonds with every Pokémon on the farm. On the night of his XX birthday (Barry can be any age that fits with the party), he was out late caring for a sick mareep. He heard a voice in his head calling for help but had no idea where it was coming from. After searching the farm for what seemed like an hour or more, he finally found what appeared to be a stone in the shape of a moon. Barry had never seen anything like it. This strange rock called to him for help. It was being attacked by a couple of zigzagoons. Barry managed to scare the zigzagoons away and save his new friend. This incident left Barry the ability to "read" a Pokémon and how it feels. I can do a bigger bio for Barry later but I wanted you to have a general idea about him. Barry is more of a thinker and likes to look into every possibility before acting. He is also the child of farmers and the family breeder. I would like to take Barry in one of three ways. If Homebrrw is allowed, I'd like to explore the Merger class. If not then he can go more medic or more psychic depending on what the party needs. His keepsake would be a small stone left by the Lunatone. The reason he wants to join the league is because it's the only way his family can afford it. Link to Barry V2. Updated to reflect the farmer in him.

botduo Is this the Merger class you're talking about? If so, I wouldn't recommend it because it looks like it was created for PTU 1.04 and hasn't been updated for 1.05. This also seems like the kind of setting where the blatantly supernatural is downplayed, but that's up to the GM of course. For my part, here's Tori so far! Ended up going with Backpacker/Chef since that seemed like a fun combo with a gluttonous Pokemon. ;P Except she doesn't cook - she just scrounges for or "borrows" food wherever she goes. And she's pretty good and making the most of trail food and scavenged edibles.

Trying out for this with Oliver Guam. 14 year old Tumbler out to find himself and maybe some respect too. His full background is linked in the sheet, but he's hyperactive, rambunctious... and been called a freak since he was brought up doing a non-masculine "sport." Kids are cruel. As for plans for this guy... He'll likely stay on the Trainer Combat heavy side, though as a "Speed Tank" if nothing else. But since I've got three class slots open, I don't mind taking him in a couple of different directions. Not sure if we'd start out with a Pokémon joining in late, but the one I want to go with is Deerling if possible.

I knew it was a stretch because it looked really good but it has so many role play possibilities. I'll admit, I am still reading Project Amber so I didn't know about the whole supernatural no nos. I should have it read in the next couple days. I have a link of the character thus far but I have a few questions just like the previous posters though. If I had the choice, I'd guess Turtwig maybe (It's the only logical choice for a berry grower with planter in the evolution line). If it has to be one of the other starters though, I wouldn't mind that at all either. The only other questions I can think of at the moment are, the party is currently traveling. Should we have travel gear? I didn't want to spend any money yet in case we needed tents or sleeping bags ect. Trying to plan for the journey, I just wonder how we should invest in healing and survival items.

Note that I haven't seen any specific rule against supernatural classes; that's just my guess since this feels like it's meant to be a more realistic setting.

Mystic Senses is a thing. At least one of the PCs has it. They just don't like to be obvious about it.

What are the limitations on our choice of starter? Just the three homebrew regional starters mentioned in the previous ad? 1.) Since the first episode ended, I'm allowing trainers to start at level 2 and starters will be the same average level as the remaining players' pokemon. 2.) Lavrence already answered that question, so I should thank him. 3.) I'm not too fussy when it comes to choosing starters, but I think its better to stick with the regional starters or the ones suggested by the core rules. Since you went through to get art for Smink, I guess I could allow you to use that as your starter. Also, supernatural characters can be allowed here. There's going to be references of psychics and voodoo present in some parts of the region. Along with that, there may be tons of references to Native American animism.

There's a lot of land in this region that has been made into ranch and farmland, especially in the river valleys.

You probably would start out with a pokemon coming in late, if in the background that your trainer has already started their journey in events before the episodes. Basically, the start of their journey is left to the imagination.

Mostly I'm curious about any Ability changes so I can plan ahead a little, since it sounds like its later forms have some drastic differences.

Well, once evolved into Smetrosun, one of the abilities this line gets is Solar Power for an extra boost in sunlight. However, the form also may get Truant, making it lazy before it evolves into Spinopollo. Spinopollo can get Mega Launcher as one of its abilities. However, this may change while fixing the bugs.

I think that I'm pretty much set. I do have two questions. Again this is mostly me being newer to this system and having taken such a break from the game in general (mostly lack of actual people to play with. No quite comfortable with the system enough to attempt GMing a game).
First, do trainers necessarily NEED to take that training feature? My background and skill choices didn't fit with any so I threw in Novice Command over Mystic Sences just to get one. That part was a little cloudy to me.
Then two, about starters, would it be possible to have egg moves? Well, one egg move. This is more to work in that I'm a breeder. It would be icing to have breed my own starter.
If anyone would be so kind as to just glance over Barry and let me know if I missed anything, I would greatly appreciate it.

On mobile at the moment, but for the free Training Feature at least, you don't need to meet its normal prerequisites.
